I love Jill Kemerer's cowboy/rancher stories so much. This one was just terrific. So many things to love about it. Truly. I've enjoyed this series a lot and sad to see it end, but I know she'll have something great planned for her readers next.
My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.
A sweet cowboy romance. Whenever I want something light hearted and comforting I go for a Love Inspired. This one was a perfect blend of comfort and a few heart breaking moments too that make a good story.
A story that lifts the spirit. Trust issues, stressful family situations, and learning to love again are some of the things the characters encounter. While reading this story, I was reminded that we all have difficult times in life, yet we can find hope in trusting God. Another great story by author Jill Kemerer. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Depending on the Cowboy was a sweet romance, full of the possibility of former friends becoming more. I liked that the hero had carried a crush on the heroine back in high school, when they were friends. His heart was immediately drawn to Sienna when she returned, even though she was pregnant by her ex-husband and not planning to stay in the area.
Blaine and Sienna were definitely caretakers. Blaine didn’t want to let anyone down as he worked to make the ranch a success. He carried guilt from the past relating to a family tragedy and was reluctant to show his heart to Sienna, for fear that she wouldn’t choose him.
Sienna carried the weight of everyone on her shoulders and that frustrated me a bit. She allowed her sister to manipulate her emotionally too often and she feared trusting any man to stay. I liked seeing how Blaine caring for her began to open her eyes to how a man should treat a woman. I also thought that Sienna’s teenage niece and nephew felt like very realistic characters.
This is the first book that I have read by this author, yet I had no trouble jumping into this series. I definitely want to read more of this author’s work.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
The trope was really great and I was super excited for it, but it fell really flat, honestly.
I didn't care for the characters too much. Blaine is a cool guy, but that's pretty much it. Hearing about Blaine's responsibilities as a rancher and the work he does was fun! The author writes in that rancher work well; she did her research!
The rest of the book is "meh".. nothing special. We don't see Blaine and Sienna really fall in love. They have a couple of good scenes (moments + conversations together), but there isn't enough romance in the story at all. Their few conversations here & there the few times they were alone were good! Not enough to make the book good, though.
Also, I found annoying how sienna was stretching her self so thin to care for everybody else (her sister, her sister's husband, & her niece and nephew) but she always out herself LAST..... for the entire time! 😔 HOWEVER: that made the story realistic I suppose, so that's good. It's very believable especially because she's pregnant and her emotions and hormones are heightened, causing her to possibly stress out more and not be great at prioritizing her life. What I DON'T understand is why she wrote off Blaine just to go drive back to her sister near the end of the book & told Blaine that she can't come back, etc. They don't live that far apart, and she could date him easily. Just because her sister needed her back right then doesn't mean that she can never be with Blaine! 😂
Okay but we needed several tropes!! We needed the trope where Blaine rides horse with Sienna (which would be a cute scene 'cause she's pregnant), plus the trope where, while at the fair, people think theyre a couple and are having a baby together!!!! That would cause them both to be embarrassed and also come to realize that they could work as a family and that they love each other. This author coulda done better. 🤷🏻♂️
I was a little bit annoyed with the whole side story of Blaine having to care for his friend's pregnant dog and raise her puppies. Why keep breeding the same dog?!?! This is her THIRD PREGNANCY!!! They kept saying that she could breed again next summer?… What the hell give her a break. Like, for the rest of the dog's life!!! 😖🤬😩😔💀
Anyways, like always there was a good ending, but this book simply wasn't fun, deep, or enjoyable. I'll keep it in my collection of Love Inspired books, but I won't read it again.
Sienna is pregnant and in the process of divorce and staying at Blaine's family ranch for the summer with her niece and nephew. She's just hoping as she figures out her future to also give her niece and nephew a good summer as well as they are having some issues with their parents. The longer they are there everyone seems to fall into a comfortable rhythm settling and and Blaine and Sienna fall for eachother but need to decide what happens as the summer comes to a close.
To this was a pretty light book I have to say nothing too dramatic going on. I enjoyed seeing how everyone settled in at the ranch and dealing with ranch life. There was a bit of drama and trauma when it came to the past Sienna was dealing with some abandonment issues that shaped her current self and when she handled things you can see how it was impacting her life and not for the better. Then there was Blaine who was also dealing with some abandonment issues regarding a family member and you can really see how it just impacts people in different way. I enjoyed the bit of romance forming between Blaine and Sienna and was curious to see how that would pan out and overall found myself enjoying this book. I really enjoyed it.
Quiet and reliable, could Blaine be the kind of man that Sienna can depend on?
Blaine's sister brings his high school crush Sienna, to the ranch to stay for awhile. While she is there he helps her entertain her niece and nephew, and realizes that he never quite got over her. Could this second chance be what both of them need?
An engaging romance, set against the rugged Wyoming range. I liked how Blaine's family embraced Sienna from the start was supportive of her throughout, finding ways to help with the niece and nephew as well. Blaine is a wonderful man, dependable and considerate, I liked how he took time to get to know Sienna and found ways to spend time with her.
Overall, a heartwarming and engaging read, with wonderful characters. I liked this western romance, and was so happy to see Blaine finally get a story. An enjoyable read from beginning to end!

I can always count on a delightful and charming read when I pick up a book by Jill Kemerer. She is a master at writing clean and wholesome small-town stories with engaging, realistically-flawed, and relatable characters. Depending on the Cowboy stars Blaine Mayer and Sienna Powell in a touching and uplifting story of renewed friendship which grows into more. Blaine is a wonderful hero who is so compassionate and helpful to Sienna and her niece and nephew. I especially loved how he was a great role model to Connor. Although this is the fourth book in Kemerer’s Wyoming Ranchers series, it can easily be read alone. I would recommend this to those who enjoy sweet and clean books.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This was my first read by this author and I was not disappointed. A beautiful story of friends to love that takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Sienna, pregnant and divorced, comes back to Sunrise Bend to try to find direction for her life. She brings her niece and nephew with her while their parents work on their marriage. In the meantime, Blaine, a former school mate and friend, let them stay at his ranch. Will they be able to let go of the past and find love? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and looking forward to more from this author. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. My opinion is my my own.
This book was so good. It's a second chance romance that is full of emotions. It deals with grief, overcoming trauma from the past and forgiveness. I loved the setting and how the author brought the story to life with her words. Blaine and Sienna's story was sweet and when you added Connor and Lily, the niece and nephew, plus the dogs and puppies, it became a book you hated to see end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet clean romance. I received a complimentary copy from HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada), Love Inspired via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Blaine Mayer’s life gets complicated when his high school crush, Sienna Powell--pregnant and recently divorced--comes to stay on his family’s ranch. He needs to focus on the cattle but can’t stop spending time with her. As Sienna’s visit nears its end, Blaine hates the thought of her walking out of his life for good. Can he prove to Sienna that he’s the man she needs? This was a quick read for me that had me staying up too late to finish.I received an advanced copy of the book from the author so these are my thoughts on the book.I can't wait to read the next in the series.
Blaine Mayer has always blamed himself for his brother’s death, but what hurt the worst was his brother had told people he didn’t have any family. He felt like Cody had rejected him. Sienna has felt like everyone she loves abandons her. She lost her brother by death, and her parents each left. Can these two learn that they don’t have to be like their past and learn to trust each other? Jill Kemerer has written a story full of heart that includes teenagers and puppies! This is book 5 in the Wyoming Ranchers Novel series. I hope there are a few more to come!
I love this book! It's perfect timing for me as I can really relate to Blaine. He's solid, dependable, and a great friend, but he feels second best. Over time, he realizes that God's plan is best!
Sienna is amazing! She's had a rough past and even some difficult circumstances presently. She comes to grip with the fact that she has trust issues and decides to trust God.
Faith in God is prevalent throughout this book, and that's what makes it so good! I can't wait to read more books by Jill Kemerer!
A story of hope and healing - touching and emotional! “He was a sight that would brighten any woman’s day. Too bad she had no business looking. Had it slipped her mind that she was fresh off a divorce and pregnant? Maybe he had a pair of blinders in the stables she could borrow. The last thing she should be doing was checking out Blaine Mayer.” I received an ARC of this book for review. I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own.
Love love and love this story!! No one is able to escape trauma or pain in this life, and those experiences can haunt us for years. Sometimes making us feel guilty over things that we had no control over. Thankfully, we have a God who will never ever leave us, and who wants to help us heal from the things that try to destroy us. He wants us to experience His love and freedom, we were never meant to live in a prison of fear or regret. He's there waiting to walk with us, we can trust Him. Always.
Depending On The Cowboy ( Wyoming Ranchers #4 ) Jill Kemerer Depending On The Cowboy is the fourth novel in the series Wyoming Ranchers. I really love these cowboys and ranchers stories. A story about faith, trust issues, family, and forgiveness. The main characters Blaine and Sienna have history and have gone through a lot in the past. Can these two forget the past? This story was very touching to me and I really loved it. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions army own.
Depending on the Cowboy is a sweet, clean romance of hope and healing plus puppies and two beautiful kids. I love Ms. Kemerer's romances. They never disappoint. This well written romance gave me a lot of pleasure as I eagerly devoured its pages and hated to reach the end. I loved watching Lily and Connor bloom in the ranch environment. You will want to see Blaine and Sienna work through the past and reach their HEA. I enjoyed every minute of this outstanding book!
I loved this story! It was sweet and poignant. I can say that I have never related to a hero in a book like I did to Blaine. I have had some of the same feelings that he has. I loved the teenagers in this book. They were great additions to the story. The dogs were great too. It was great to re-visit Sunrise Bend and see some familiar faces. Can't wait to visit again!

This was my first novel read by Jill Kenner and I was really impressed. A Christian contemporary western, Depending on the Cowboy is all about a single soon to be mom and cowboy finding love and healing together.
A few of my favorite elements: 🐴 Family Drama and Healing 🐴 Puppies 🐴 Second Chance Romance 🐴 Summer Love
A great book overall!
Thank you to the author for the advance readers copy of the book. All opinions are my own and I was not required to give a review of this book.
I really enjoyed this clean, Love Inspired, romance. I bought this at a local store and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 5* rating. This pulled me in fairly quickly and kept tugging at me to read more. This was a hard year for the ranchers (hard year for lots of us) and meeting someone who was having a hard year herself was only half of the problem. I liked how they worked it out finally with a pretty good ending.
I had trouble putting “Depending on the Cowboy” down. The characters and situation caught my attention right away. Reading about the relationships between Blaine, Sierra, Connor and Lily develop and each of them mature as they deal with the life circumstances and their faith kept my attention. I really enjoy how Jill Kemerer makes the characters in every book able to deal with different issues in realistic ways. Her books are always interesting.
This sweet story deals gently with past trauma, grief and dysfunctional families while instilling hope and healing. The idyllic ranch setting is a bonus. Hopefully, there will be more from the Mayer family.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Blaine and Sienna both had a sibling die earlier in life. People grieve and handle grief differently. How we handle grief and emotions are how we handle life as adults. Blaine and Sienna had to come to terms with their grief and forgive themselves and open their hearts up to allow Love and life back before they could accept each other as a life partner. Wonderful story definitely worth reading!!
Depending on the Cowboy is a well written inspirational romance. Very good character dynamics. I definitely recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance book. This is my unbiased review.
This book definitely hit the harder topics of loss and its trauma and of relationships that can't always be saved. The characters' struggles were very believable. However the resolution felt a little sudden and forced.
