Talk about non-stop action. Elizabeth Goddard starts off with a bang and it doesn’t let up until the ending. i enjoyed it very much.

Everly Honor is an unexpectedly resourceful heroine and courageous bodyguard. When former beau Sawyer Blackwood hires her for protection for himself and his niece Layla, neither of them has any idea what she is actually getting herself into. Sawyer is keeping secrets about why he is being targeted and his secrets may lead to more danger for himself and his niece as well as for Everly. This is the second book in the Honor Protection Series but it can definitely be read as a standalone. With a quick pace and non-stop action, the plot was engrossing and tightly written. The characters were relatable and flawed humans which made them realistic and believable. I enjoyed getting to know each character, especially the strong female protagonist Everly. Her ability to think on her feet during difficult challenges was amazing! I also enjoyed the developing relationship between Sawyer and Everly, a romance that was kept below the surface of the main plot but was definitely present. This is a quick read that is absorbing and entertaining as well as well developed with just enough red herrings to keep me guessing. Fans of Love Inspired Suspense will enjoy the inspirational aspects of the two main characters testing their faith and finding each other as they rediscover faith in God.

If you are looking for a high octane, fast paced read, with a strong impressive heroine then look no father. This author always delivers a powerful punch that hits its mark and leaves you breathless from keeping up. This is book two in the Honor Protection Specialists series but could also be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the strong spirit of Everly and how she keeps it all together in the face of danger. Layla added the extra layer with a secret I was trying to unravel. A great quick read you will want to pick up asap.

Good story line. Great characters. HEA was handled well. I liked the fact there was some different ways the bad guys attempted to thwart the hero/heroine in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. All-in-all - I give it a 5.

Perilous Security Details by Elizabeth Goddard is book #2 in The Honor Protections Specialists series. This time we get to find a little more of Everly Honor's past and her future. Everly Honor witnesses a car accident. She can't believe that it's her ex Sawyer Blackwood. Once Sawyer learns that Everly is now a bodyguard working with her brothers at Honor Protections Specialists, he insists on hiring her to protect his 12 year old niece Layla. Though these two have tons of baggage, she agrees. Sawyer is definitely keeping secrets from her and she's keeping a few from him. Can they both work together and keep Layla safe?
OMS! This book was non-stop from the first page. It was a page-turner for sure. I know that's a cliche phrase, but truly I couldn't stop. I had to know what was going to happen next. I'd read at night until my eyes could no longer see. I wanted to know what Sawyer was holding back and why he felt he couldn't tell anyone. I was curious to figure out what Everly was hiding too. And don't forget Layla. She might have a few secrets of her own. Every single one of these characters has a lot of baggage and thankfully we get to see why and how they are who they are today. I loved that Mt Rainier was part of the story because I live close to Mt Rainier and I love seeing its majestic peaks when the sun is out shining. Really though, I was intrigued by Sawyer and Everly. I loved a quote from Everly at the end. "You love so hard," and it goes on from there but I don't want to spoil it for you. Let's just say that I was crying at that part and ok before. LOL. As usual, the epilogue was epic. It was practically perfect in every way. It was suspenseful. It was emotional. It was raw. It had all the feels. As it says in Mark 5:36 (and features a few times in the story)..Fear not, only believe! I think this can sum up the book in a few words.

PERILOUS SECURITY DETAIL by Elizabeth Goddard is second book in the Honor Protection Specialists series. It’s the fast-paced, action-packed story of Everly Honor and Sawyer Blackwood set in Puget Sound. It’s sprinkled with a bit of romance and woven with a thread of faith.
Sawyer’s past was quite different than you would imagine having been born into a wealthy family. He and his twin sister, Paisley, were kidnapped at the age of 19 due to his father’s wealth and dealings. Even though they survived, getting over it was difficult. To help in this process, they cut all ties with their father and any inheritance was given away. His sister entered into a disastrous marriage with the only good thing to come of it was Layla, his niece. His sister was murdered four years ago by her husband, who died in an automobile accident before he could be made to pay for his crimes. This left Sawyer to care for and protect Layla. A job he takes seriously – his main objective in life. When his job seems to have brought trouble to his door, Sawyer hired a body guard for Layla thinking that with lots of security systems set up at their home they would be safe.
Everly had been in love with Sawyer until he tossed her heart away and left the country without so much as a goodbye. When she witnessed an accident, she knew she had to help the guy trapped in his car that had rolled down the hill before the gas tank erupted. After getting him out and to safety, imagine her great surprise to find out that the man she saved was Sawyer. While waiting for the police to show up and making catching up small talk, Everly mentioned working with her brothers at Honor Protection Service where she worked in security services. With Layla not at all happy with her bigger than life present male body guard, Sawyer asked her if she would be willing to protect Layla. The one thing they both knew was they wouldn’t – couldn’t - repeat the past.
When whoever was out to get Sawyer and/or Layla – and eventually seemed to include Everly - seemed to be getting braver and closer to carrying out their intended deeds, Everly started to expect answers to her questions about who would be after them and why in order to protect them properly. What exactly was Sawyer’s job and why would it bring danger to his family? Does Sawyer dare to tell her when by doing so he could be endangering his clients? Does he really have a choice?
With sparks flying between Everly and Sawyer, memories of the past and with both of them having reasons to stay distant friends, can they control their feelings and remain concentrated on the present dangers? With Layla becoming more attached to Everly, will each going their own way once this danger has been stopped be another extreme loss to Layla and how will Sawyer handle that? Can Everly get over events of the past or will they come calling again? Dear she open her heart up again? When danger comes knocking, will they be ready or will their timing and events they have no control over mean their lucks run out?
PERILOUS SECURITY DETAIL is definitely a story that you will read in one sitting. There’s no way you can put this exciting, page-turning story down. The mystery, danger and connection between Everly and Sawyer all make this a book that’s impossible to put down. Your emotions will go on overload and the thread of faith will balance them out to another well-written book by Elizabeth Goddard. She continues to keep us excited about the Honor Protection Specialists series to where you are thrilled when one of the books comes out to only be longing for the next books release when you read the last page. The author managed to subtly wrap the story in a thread of faith that greatly improves the story. By the last page, you’re bound to be exhausted from walking beside the characters during all the action, exhilarated with the ending, and very satisfied with how the author laid it all out making for an amazing read.
Although part of a series, PERILOUS SECURITY DETAIL can most definitely be read as a standalone book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that loves an edge of your seat adventure, sweet romance and a great Christian book. FIVE STAR reading at its best!

Wow to that cover, although there is only one helicopter scene and would've liked more...the niece in the story was well written, but she was also kind of annoying to me. Sawyer's dedication to her was the most attractive thing about him. Everly was also a great character and saves the day more than once!
I only wish Love Inspired would change their formula slightly because it's done in almost every plot. Everly and Sawyer know each other from high school and are in love at that time, then life happens and Sawyer disappears. Then they are reunited in an emergency and he hires her to protect his niece. The chemistry between these characters is tangible on the page, which is so well written, but there are other ways to meet and fall for someone other than being high school/college sweethearts.
Spoiler (or not so if you've read LIS before): they share one passionate kiss as they are both trying to figure out how they will move forward being so emotionally connected as they are but believing the relationship won't work out beyond the emergency they are facing together.
There is also talk of faith in God and quoting scripture, but there is very little trust in God shown in the plot. Granted they are being gunned down several different times and that is a problem, but deep Christian faith is never shown in these books. It's easy for the characters to believe when the situation is going well, then it's a constant prayer of "Help me, God," as things go wrong. Wishing that their faith/prayers went deeper than this.
Had no idea who the culprits were in this one and wishing Sawyer was a little more secure around the detective in the story who wants to help out. Also wishing that Everly had felt closer to her brothers as they all run their protection agency together as colleagues, yet she doesn't trust them enough to share with them a personal problem. I have two brothers and would SO enjoy if LIS would shake up their formula a bit more to add that adult siblings CAN trust God on a deeper level AND each other.
Overall a Goddard book never disappoints, her writing is always clean and action-packed, much appreciate that! Goddard always produces a great story as if she has already lived the danger these characters have been through and wants to see them experience an ending that does justice.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Perilous Security Detail. This is book two in the series Honor Protection Specialists. I know that those of you who follow me realize what a huge fan of Elizabeth's work I am. I would read her stories all day if I got the chance. SO...I was thrilled to get this one in the mail. She has such an amazing way of telling stories. You feel like you are right there in the center of the action. I know you are going to love this book.
Sawyer Blackwood is visiting his twin sister's grave. It's the anniversary of her death. He could have made a difference if he hadn't been overseas. Now he has her daughter to raise. As he is leaving he sees a blue Cadillac the same one he saw last night. He's glad he contacted a security company to keep Layla safe. He is on his way home when he is broadsided by a Mack truck. His ex is the one to come to his rescue.
Security Expert Everly Honor pulls over and rushed to the accident. The SUV had rolled several times down an embankment and now it's on fire. She helps him out of his vehicle and out of the way. It's Sawyer, a man she once hoped to have a future with. A man stood by the road watching as if expecting the accident. Whose is this guy and what is going on? Will he let her be their bodyguard?
A terrifying journey to protect Sawyer and his niece. What is going on and who wants them dead? Both are hiding secrets can they find the answers before they are destroyed? Sawyer Blackwood is an import/export consultant who has custody of his niece, Layla, after his sister died at the hands of of Layla’s father. Sawyer is a man with an emotional past, to say the least, and he holds secrets. He’s also hyper aware of he and his niece needing top security, especially after someone orchestrates a car accident that lands him briefly in the hospital.
Everly Honor is a former police officer and current security detail specialist with her brother’s company. She’s also Sawyer’s ex. Everly just happened to witness the truck ramming into Sawyer’s car…or did the Lord put her in the right place at the right time? Sawyer hires her to protect Layla, and good thing, because whoever is after them isn’t letting up.
Everly is holding onto a secret of her own, too. As they work together to protect Layla and themselves, can the Lord work in their hearts to open up to one another? Can they trust each other…and Him? Could it lead to a second chance for them?

Wonderful character development, non-stop action, and a great storyline - these are the things that I've come to expect from an Elizabeth Goddard book! I know from the first page to the last, I won't be able to put it down. There is always a lot of action, and the characters are realistic and likable! Everly is a strong female lead and knowing that she's a bodyguard certainly confirms that! When her ex, Sawyer, gets intentionally hit by a large truck right in front of her, she has to jump in and save him from a burning car! Then to find out that it's part of a larger issue, she volunteers to offer her security company to keep him & his niece safe. At first, I didn't like Sawyer because he was rude and didn't share a lot with Everly, even though she was going out of her way to help him and his niece so she needed background information but as the story unfolded, you could see why he was that way. Both Everly and Sawyer had had trauma earlier in their lives and it was still affecting them. I liked everything about this book! The niece, Layla, was great too - typical teenager and added a lot to the story. I am enjoying this series!

Elizabeth Goddard always delivers a spellbinding suspense, no matter what the word count. Her Love Inspired books pack the same kind of punch found in her longer novels. She knows how to pace out action and danger with sweet interludes of romance and I’m always swept away by the story.
Perilous Security Detail was a read in one sitting extravaganza. I intended to read only the first three chapters and then get some work done…but, nope, that didn’t happen. Not when the last sentence of chapter three reads like this: “Suddenly, a strong arm hooked around her throat from behind.” (p 45) Love it when the end of one chapter hooks me into diving into the next one!
Desperate danger, a reluctant hero and an angsty preteen all combine to keep protection specialist Everly Honor on her toes…and readers in a page turning frenzy! Love the reunion romance aspect to this story and it about drove me crazy trying to figure out what Sawyer was holding back and then, once I knew, I was gobsmacked. Didn’t see that coming.
An adrenaline rush of a read right to the very last page!

Perilous Security Detail by Elizabeth Goddard is the second book in her Honor Protection Specialists from Love Inspired Suspense.
I enjoy Elizabeth Goddard’s books, whether the longer ones like Cold Light of Day or shorter ones like Tracking a Killer. Perilous Security Detail takes us back to the Honor siblings and the protection agency they’ve created. When Everly saves her old boyfriend from a car wreck, Sawyer hires her to protect his niece.
But Sawyer has secrets and I loved how the author slowly revealed those secrets to the reader, as well as to Everly. There was so much tension in this book, I had a hard time putting it down. And the action goes all the way to the very end.
If you enjoy romantic suspense, check out this book. I also can’t wait for the third book in the series!

Elizabeth Goddard writes a story full of action and suspense. This well written story is a page turner with well thought out characters! Just as you think the story is finished, it takes off in another direction!
Sawyer Blackwood is being targeted. Do they want him dead, or just to scare him? He can’t take chances for the sake of his twelve yr old niece, Layla, who he is raising. He hires is ex girlfriend, bodyguard Everly Honor, to keep Layla safe. The trouble is he won’t let Everly know why he thinks someone is after him. Is he into something illegal? Both are keeping secrets. Will the secrets cause problems?

This is an exciting tale that looks into the occupation of being a body guard. Everly Honor does the best she can to keep Sawyer’s niece, Layla, safe. But Sawyer won’t tell Everly the whole story and who the threat might be. The threats escalate, and the danger is constant. How can a preteen deal with such harrowing experiences? Layla is keeping her own secrets. Who was Layla really texting the whole time? How far must a parent go to keep their child safe and monitor their phone usage. You may think you know who’s behind the threats, but things aren’t always what they seem. The answer to that is in the end of the story.

Love books that you can't put down?! The latest book by Elizabeth Goddard fits that description. This book is filled with suspense, questions to be answered, complicated characters and enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat. And there is a young teen in the middle of the mix so you know anything can happen! If that isn't enough, once you think the book has ended, think again. There is an unexpected twist that will keep you reading up until the very end. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.

I love the story of Everly, Sawyer and Layla. What happens when all of a sudden your life and the life of your niece who you have custody of becomes targets? Who can you trust? Who is behind the accidents, shootings and stalkings? I could not put this book down. It is a must read for all suspense lovers.

Wow! What a rider! After being asked to protect her former boyfriends niece, Everly not only has to protect Layla, but also, Sawyer, who is hiding lots of secrets. Lots of suspense, faith, trust, pageturning moments, this book is one you'll not want to put down!

A fast paced and easy-to-read story about a protective detail that gives a couple a second chance to revisit the past and see if they should have ended up together after all. I was definitely interested in the solution of the mystery, but I also really enjoyed Everly’s personal story.

Quick easy read. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and hope to read about Everly's brothers.
