A theme park trip turns devastating when Rebecca Salmon’s son is abducted. Now Rebecca must solve a series of clues planted throughout the park to retrieve what the kidnappers want, but she needs help. Aided by FBI agent Jake Foster, she finds deciphering the clues is only half the battle. The real puzzle is how to survive…and bring her son home.
Heroine Rebecca Salmon’s twin brother (Danny) disappears (he’s an agent for the DEA and has gone back undercover). Danny is in possession of something the cartel is after (a flash drive) and he hid it at Adventure World (a theme park). He gave Rebecca and her young son Austin instructions to go on a scavenger hunt in Adventure World to find the flash drive, where he hid it, and tells them to trust no one. While in the park Rebecca runs into an old friend, FBI Agent-hero Jake Foster (who has had a crush on her since they were in school.) Unknown to Rebecca, Danny has asked Jake to keep an eye on Rebecca and Austin. Along the way Austin is kidnapped and she and Jake are chased by dangerous criminals throughout the park while they try to solve the puzzles in the scavenger hunt.
This was a very fast-paced and exciting read. I really enjoyed the book’s location inside the theme park. I liked Jake, I always enjoy a smitten hero. And Rebecca was a clever and caring heroine. Austin was a cute and smart kid. A fun, action filled read.
Puzzles, scavenger hunts, action, a theme park and a young boy who can solve puzzles easily make this an interesting, suspense-filled mystery. Rebecca Salmon has taken her son, Austin, to a theme park for the day for a fun-filled scavenger hunt which her brother set up for Austin. Austin is a high functioning autistic young man with a brilliant mind for puzzles and solving clues. Rebecca soon realizes this is more than a game from her brother. It is a complex cat and mouse hunt with deadly consequences. When Austin is kidnapped, her brother's friend, Jake Foster, who is an FBI agent is there to assist and help her find Austin before it is too late.
There was plenty of action and suspense. You will also not really be sure who you can trust, so the suspects are many. The scavenger hunt clues were impressive and made the mystery more fun to read. This is an easy, clean romantic mystery which you can read in a couple of hours.
I loved this book about Rebecca, Austin and Jake. Rebecca and Austin were sent by Danny to Adventure World Park on a scavenger hunt. Danny has hidden in the park something that the cartel wants at all costs. Austin loves puzzles and scavenger hunts. Rebecca and Austin set out to find the clues. Austin who has autism is kidnapped. Rebecca was told by her brother, Danny, do not trust anyone. It is a race of time to follow the clues to find what the cartel wants so it can be exchange for Austin. Will they find it before the cartel does? Will they ever see Austin again. This book kept me on the edge of my seat.
This book became dear to my heart as my 5 year old grandson is austic and responds so much like Austin. The theme park setting was genius and scary and suspenseful. His mom and her old high school friend work hard trying to solve the treasure hunt clues Austin's uncle hid in the park for them to find and figure out the puzzle to get to the prize which will hopefully keep Austin safe from the kidnappers and his mom and her friend alive to see him again. Will they succeed? Oh you must get this book to read the discover all the people that are involved. Great read Patsy Conway
What a fun and intriguing book! Lots of puzzles, clues, and suspense as a mother and her autistic son go through the park, using clues left by her undercover agent brother, to find a USB drive. The brother believes his partner has betrayed him and is working with the cartel to get the drive so it’s a race to see who finds the drive first. The mother and son have solved many of the clues but then he is kidnapped and total chaos follows. Who can she trust? What do the final clues mean? Is her brother or son alive? Conway does a great job of coming up with great puzzles and clues that the reader will find themself trying to guess. A good action packed story.

One of my favorite reads recently of Harlequin’s love inspired suspense. I could picture the chase actually happening which made it enjoyable. I will say though, the epilogue was a little too fast for me.
A 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars for Goodreads. This was an interesting story. I enjoyed the scavenger hunt element, and it being set at a theme park and closed and abandoned areas of the theme park to boot is was exciting. Liked this one.
