Hermione Granger is lost.

More than a year after the war, she struggles to find the right path for her life outside of Hogwarts. Still haunted by fear and loss, and faced with a new world that seems less promising than she’s always imagined, Hermione feels herself caught at a dead end — and the nightmares don’t help, either.

When she runs into a familiar face on the night of her birthday, Hermione feels a spark of hope for the first time in a long time. Then, an opportunity for a fresh start presents itself, along with an old nemesis who seems to reignite her need to fight: both for herself, and for the life she’s always wanted.

Hermione jumps headfirst into a journey that forces her to face all of the things she wants to forget, while learning to cherish all of the messy, beautiful things she is called to remember— scars and all.

A post-war, slow-burn, enemies to lovers Dramione story about healing, redemption, and second chances. Featuring a full cast of your favourite snarky Slytherins.

❗️❗️ Trigger warnings: mention of depression (kind of?)

She wondered if they had anything in common anymore, other than the terrible things they had been through. Had they ever had anything in common, other than always being at the wrong place at the wrong time?

Hermione feels lost and she is struggling to find a purpose and figure out who she is now that the war is over and things are “back to normal”. On an impulse, she decides to buy the now-closed Flourish and Blotts and plans to rebuild it the muggle way. Draco is trying to get his life back on track and needs to have a job as part of his probation deal. That’s how he ends up working for Hermione and is forced to renovate a whole building without any magic. Even worse than that is the fact that he has to spend his days in the company of Hermione.

Rosemary for Remembrance is about Hermione’s healing journey, and her quest to find a purpose. She was never able to continue with her life “like it was before the war”. She has too many traumas and problems, and the heaviest one is the feeling that she doesn’t have any purpose. She wants to do something meaningful, but she also needs to distance herself from Harry and Ron because she feels forced to put on a mask with them and pretend that everything is fine, when it is not. That’s why her new friendship with the Slytherins was perfectly timed, she didn’t feel the need to pretend with them, and they are also struggling with their “post-war” life. The descriptions of Hermione’s mental state and the state of the wizarding world in general are well done, and while it remains light and cute, this fanfiction was also quite immersive at times.

“Because I know what it’s like to be without your parents. And with everything Malfoy has lost, he deserves to have his Mother around to watch him become a better man than his father was.”

Draco starts as a slightly toxic character. He lashes out when cornered, and he is mean to Hermione on many occasions, but it’s more because he doesn’t want to open himself to anyone than because of who he is interacting with (in this case Hermione). I don’t know if that makes sense… He learns to open himself to what he is feeling and to trust others with his feelings too. He also goes through a healing journey of his own, and it was nice seeing him change in a very good, but also realistic way.

“I’m sure Malfoy can stand one day without someone’s company. I’ll keep him occupied. Who knows, maybe we can argue over whose sandwich is better, or whether pickles belong on a ham and rye.”

The incessant bickering between Draco and Hermione was awesome. It had just the right amount of snark and insults at first to make it clear that they didn’t like each other at all, and were annoyed by most of what the other did, but then it slowly changed to lighter teasing and friendly banter.

Before the war, Hermione Granger hated Draco Malfoy.
After the war… well, she’s not sure.

The romance was cute, but I have to admit that it lacked intensity or depth at times. While I loved the bickering between Hermione and Draco, I would also have enjoyed some more serious conversations between them, and maybe a tiny redemption moment on Draco’s end considering what Hermione did for his mother and the way he treated her subsequently. I feel that they didn’t really take the time to acknowledge their feelings for each other. They both knew what they were feeling, but at the same time, it felt as if they were dancing around each other and were unwilling to fully commit until the very end, which was a little frustrating.

“As much as it pains me to admit it, we’re all sort of glad you didn’t die choking on your own vomit or something.”
Hermione, bewildered both by Pansy inviting her out and being glad that Hermione was alive, drops her mouth as she tries to form words.
“Well don’t look so surprised, Granger,” Pansy grins, eyes teasing with their natural sultry smokiness. “I’ll be honest, if I ever had to take a guess at which unlucky witch or wizard would become an honorary member of Slytherin, you would not have been my first choice. But —Merlin forbid, I might regret this later —somehow, I’ve warmed up to you, and that bushy head of hair.”

I just love fanfictions in which Hermione becomes an honorary member of the Slytherins. It gives the whole story this “found family” vibe, as well as a refreshing cast because I was never the biggest fan of Harry and Ron. The friendship between her and them felt a little rushed in this fiction, but I still enjoyed it a lot!

How many times can you explode and put the pieces back together before you come completely undone?
She thinks for Draco Malfoy, she could do it for an eternity.

Overall, this is a sweet and heartwarming fanfiction, with a strong “found family” vibe and a well-developed healing journey for both Hermione and Draco.

I am disappointed that I didn't like it better. The premise was there, but somehow the execution didn't drag me in as I would have liked.

This book was cute, I always love my Dramione fanfics. However…and I almost never say this…I didn’t like Draco in this one, and I barely liked Hermione. I don’t know, it just fell flat for me. Hermione is struggling a year after the war, she can’t seem to bounce back to normal like everyone else. Instead, she sees all who they lost, and it colors her future. When she stumbles upon Blaise Zambini and his ragtag group of Slytherin pals, she is surprised how comfortable she feels with them; much better than with Harry, Ron, and Ginny. Enter Draco, who is a drunk douche for most of the first half of the book. His literal only redeeming quality is that he’s fit. Anyway, he starts to work with Hermione on her project to renovate Flourish and Blots (the muggle way) because circumstances, and makes it very clear that he’s being forced to do so, and wants nothing to do with her outside of his obligation.

Hermione, to my satisfaction, internally steels herself and declares that she will not chase what doesn’t want her, and then, to my annoyance, proceeds to do exactly that. Hermione is SUCH a good person that she goes out of her way to try and make Malfoys life better and to try and help in any way that she can, despite him essentially spitting in her face. Anyway, lots of building things, chasing things, can’t-help-but things, and eventually some sexy things ensue. I really liked the remembrance aspect and how the author tied that in to Hermione’s purpose, but the relationship and Hermione’s inner dialogue conflicting with her actions kinda irked me. Also, fuck a hot and cold Draco.

A new favorite. I couldn't stop reading it.

My only complaint is that it ended too quickly. I definitely needed more groveling from draco after that 3rd scene breakup

——————

This was good but I was so fucking annoyed the whole time because it was always HER chasing after him, HER putting in the effort, HER taking all the steps to fix things when HE’s the one who was an asshole or who fucked up. It pissed me the fuck off. His hot and cold routine got old quickly and, when it comes to effort, the relationship was so ONE SIDED. Like girl u look pathetic when he keeps leaving and u keep chasing after him 😭 just wish the relationship dynamic was more equal. Maybe if we got his pov it would’ve felt less one sided but since we didn’t, I was just not feeling it. Ships like this are a huge pet peeve of mine.

If a relationship dynamic keeps causing lyrics from “Dear John” by T. Swift to pop in my head, it’s probably not a great relationship.

Also, the third act breakup was poorly resolved. There was not NEARLY enough groveling as there should’ve been. She took him back way too fast after a half-assed apology. IF A MAN FUCKS UP I WANT TO SEE HIM BEG.

If it weren’t for all that, I would’ve really enjoyed this. The writing was good and there were good moments, and I loved the found family, self-healing, and chemistry between the characters, but the one-sided nature of the relationship just made it so hard to enjoy and to be satisfied with the story.

Tbh I don’t even know why I wrote such a long review for this. I don’t have very strong feelings about it and have read much worse so idk why this was so long. Probably because I wrote the majority of this review while in the middle of reading it, hence at the height of my frustration. I think it’s because one of my biggest romance pet-peeves is when all the effort is one-sided.

I have thoughts… I loved this, I have no idea why it hit so close to home for me but there was multiple times during this that I just really resonated with the way the author wrote her. I was crying which is actually rare for me despite how i stay saying I’m crying on this app but it’s usually metaphorical.

I wanted to give this five stars so badly but the love declaration was just not it for me. I needed more and groveling and I KNOW it wouldn’t have been on par with his character but I don’t fucking care!!! Bring me the groveling, the desperation, dare I say the PLEADING. But regardless she was an amazing fic 9/10 smut as well.

For my girls on here who like dramione, this one’s not dark at all like secrets and masks or manacled, honestly kinda reads similar to a slightly more realistic Emily Henry? Idk yall will get it when u read it.

“Friend, enemy, lover; none of them sound right to describe what Draco is to her.”

Ahh I NEEDED this!!🥹 soothed my soul after Manacled, I’m fully in my HP fanfic/Dramione era and this one was giving👏🏼

Still your typical toxic Draco vibes but as expected you fall for him as you develop a better understanding, this was a kicking feet & giggling type story & exactly what I needed!! FEEL GOOD read!!

I loved the aspect of more of the slytherins being involved, I literally forgot about so many of the smaller characters like Blaise etc and I just fell for them so much in this they were such a fun bunch & I loved watching the friendships develop between them & Hermione.

Only negative thing I could say is that I wanted more🤭

‘It is a courageous thing to do: to try to remember, when there is so much we want to forget.’

This isn’t fanfic people this is CANON protect Hermione the bookshop owner and published author at all costs! This was so good I honestly would’ve accepted a non HEA and that is saying something.

The whole speech at the end about the difference between missing someone and needing someone? Went straight for the jugular I’m going to need 2-3 business days to recover from this one. 7 stars.

This story felt more immersive than previous fics. I understood exactly where Hermione stood mentally and emotionally, knew exactly how the wizarding world was rebuilding and struggling after the war, and understood why each and every character acted the way they did. This book had me crying over a burnt bookshop in chapter 3 it was so emotionally written. In all honestly this plot was boring. . .. but in the best way possible, I loved it so much. It was mundane, it was about healing, and moving on. Hearing about the entire process of Hermione and Draco fixing up the shop the muggle way was somehow very enjoyable. I loved the growth with them both, and the ending was a satisfying conclusion to their story, thoroughly enjoyed!

"I remember it all, granger. how could I possibly forget?"

this was one of the more realistic dramione fanfics I've read so far. there was real mental and personal growth from different characters while still maintaining a good plot line.

it's 4:16 am and I'm currently delirious from both exhaustion and the roller coaster of emotions that Rosemary for Remembrance has subjected me to.

I teared up multiple times, squealed and put my kindle down to kick my feet (also multiple times) and laughed out loud many times as well.

LOVE this fic, it was so much better than I expected yet gave me everything I wanted. A unique dramione twist with a toxic draco, a strong hermione on a journey of healing, wholesome slytherin gang friendships and of course, a true enemies to lovers with a slow, gradual, sizzling romance rife with both emotional and sexual tension

highly highly highly recommend

when i was younger, and reading harry potter for the first time, i always wondered how hermione had the best lines and neither harry or ron would respond to her quips as wittily as she does theirs. yeah, i love the golden trio, and yeah, i love their interactions.

but it's that small, nagging feeling from the back of my 10-year-old self's head that has caused me to be an insufferable hermione & slytherin friendship fan. because she fits in SO WELL with them.

and to top it all off with her struggling to move past the war, to deal with her trauma, with draco doing the same? i got goosebumps.

i really do need to stop. i am so, so annoying, even to myself. (i can't help it, draco and hermione will always be my kryptonite).

I absolutely loved this. It gave everything you need for an enemies-to-lovers story. I’ve read a wide range of fics and this one was perfect if you’re looking for something that isn’t dark, but portrays as a more realistic rom-com. Couldn’t recommend this enough if you’re looking for a lighter fanfic.

⭐️4/5 stars⭐️

ugh, yeah, this warmed my cold heart and taught me to believe in love all over again.

Hermione is struggling to find herself after the war. she feels lost in between who she was, who her friends expect her to be, and who she wants to be. she buys the rundown Flourish and Blotts and plans to refurbish it to its former glory. Draco, in need of a job for his probation, works for Hermione as they rebuild the shop the muggle way. Feelings arise, as they do, and with the help of the Slytherin gang, Hermione finds a new purpose and Draco discovers how to not be a dick :D
incredible read, very sweet and heartwarming. perfect fic to balance out the absolute atrocities I've read lately.
spice: 3/5 (it was there, it was more... aggressive at times but mainly it was just sweet smut)

It’s clearly written by an US American author, I’m not even British and I can tell. The language (none of those pure bloods would talk like that and on top of that lots of muggle phrases like “god”, “Jesus” etc), the remodelling (those are houses made of stone, there are no wood framing walls like in the US), house in Mexico?? Hermione has never seen a mansion?
Almost didn’t finish reading it, I just skimmed through in the end.. as someone else mentioned, too many and long inner monologues, which drag the conversations and you keep forgetting what they were talking about in the first place 🫠
