There's a reason monster hunters are rarely human.
Immune to the mists that flood the woods every night, Keenyn is a dark elf prince with exactly one fear — that he'll stray too far from his demi-god partner, Bren, and lose him to the curse.
After all, Keenyn's seen what's beneath that suit of armor. In detail. And if he ignores his best friend's perfect body, god-like strength, and endless stamina, it's obvious that Bren is just a man, as likely to die in the mists as any other.
Now, if only Keenyn's ability to ignore things was foolproof...
ENTANGLED WITH AN ELF PRINCE is a spicy adult standalone M/M fantasy romance novella.

ENTANGLED WITH AN ELF PRINCE had a great premise and I liked both Bren and Keenyn as characters but this felt like I was missing the first quarter of the book. There was minimal world building, no context for how the characters fit into the world, or how they became friends except for a quick sentence at the 60% mark. All of this made it very hard to find my footing in the plot and the world and I just spent the whole book feeling like I was missing all this important information.

This book is super hard to rate - I'd give the last 35% a solid 4 stars, but the first 25% especially was super tough to rate, as I felt as if I had just been dropped into an ongoing story and I had no clue what was happening.
The way the story starts off, it's really hard to pick up on the characters and who is who, like what they even look like, as well as what their motivations are for killing the things in the mist, stuff like that. I honestly felt so lost.
Things started getting back on track around the 40%-mark and then I really did enjoy from the 60%-ish mark to the end. I love the premise of a dark elf and his light magic bestie who are desperately in love with each other. I think that if there was a stronger opening this would be very easily a 4 star read for me.
I'll definitely look forward to more from this author.

This was a nice short read! Also more like a 3.5 than a 3 (begging GR to let us do half points)
Keenyn and Bren's banter was probably my favourite part. They have a fun dynamic and I would've loved to learn more about both of them. I did find the fight scenes a tad confusing to follow, though, and I was thirsting for more details about the world around them. I get the sense it's well-developed, but we're dropped in the middle of it and don't get much explanation. Where did the monsters come from? What about the mists? I have so many questions and so much intrigue for this world we've barely scratched the surface of! I was hoping for a couple more lines here or there to expand on it a bit more.
Still, I'm glad I got the chance to peer into it and meet these characters. Ferreira's writing shows a lot of potential and I'm eager to see where it goes next!
I just loved this book!! I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump and this book may have cured me. It was exactly what I was looking for. A lot of romance, slow burn (but not too slow), and plenty of plot so I never got bored. The world and characters were so interesting and I fell completely in love. I do wish it was longer as there were some plot points that could be expanded upon so I hope there’s eventually a sequel. But overall, this book was everything I needed and I’m so glad I got to read it!
It was a nice read overall, but far from amazing. It felt like a fan fiction from a fandom I wasn't part of - many things were left unsaid as if I should have already known them: the setting, the kind of relationship the protagonists had, the danger they were facing...
But let's start with the thing that bugged me the most: the title. "Entangled With an Elf Prince" is a very precise title, which conveys three things: - The story is about romance - There's an elf prince, and the fact that he's a prince is somewhat important - The POV is carried by the person who gets "entangled" with said elf prince
While the first point is met, the others are not. The POV carrier is the elf prince, but being a prince does not make any difference in the story. While this dissonance with the title doesn't change the quality of the text, it still made me feel like I was tricked.
Speaking of the story itself, as I said, it was nice to read. There's not very much going on but Keenyn being horny as hell every second he's not fighting for his life against monsters (the nature of which we aren't really told), but that wasn't far from what I expected. The writing style is not bad, but I ran into a few too many repetitions, like the characters "drinking in" their partner and Bren's eyes being "blue like [insert simile]". The structure of the story was also very repetitive, with the last two sections being almost the same: fight - Bren is in danger - Keenyn almost dies while saving him - they get affectionate - rinse and repeat.
The last sore point for me were the spicy scenes. It was baffling to find out that despite this being a m/m romance novella targeted at an adult audience, the word "penis" (or any of its less scientific synonims) wasn't used even once. The best we get is "that long, urgent part of him", which sounds nothing but funny. This lacks of using actual body parts names makes the spicy scenes quite vague and less enjoyable.
I know this is the first book from this author, and I'm sure she put all of her love and passion into it, so I hope that my review can give her some prompts to write even better stories in the future 😊
This was such a beautiful 108 pages. I couldn't believe how much Amanda managed to pack into this novella. I was honestly surprised when I hit the halfway mark because it didn't feel like 50 pages, it felt like more. I absolutely loved the tone and vibe of the writing! 😊 I'm a big fan of when authors throw you right into the action, and I really enjoyed the bits of worldbuilding we get. The pacing felt just right and it was so fun watching Keenyn and Bren together. I felt their history, devotion and love for each other, which is amazing because some authors can't even do that with 300 or 400 pages!! 😂
It'd be great to see a full novel length prequel or sequel, eventually. Definitely a great debut novella and one I would reread too! 🥰 The only thing I wish we also got was Bren POV. 🤭 Which speaking of, I also felt the title was a little misleading since Keenyn is the prince and it's all in his POV, but it's not a biggie. Looking forward to seeing what else Amanda releases!!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in a giveaway hosted on Goodreads, but am leaving my honest review.
i really enjoyed this story and the characters!! my only complaint was that it did feel kinda like being dropped into the middle ish of a story. but i plan on reading the authors future works and hope they expand this world!
➤ short & sweet ➤ at times beautifully written ➤ at times very overwritten, could have used another 1-2 rounds of edits (the words immediately and every f.ex. were used so often, it was very noticeable. The author claims to work as an editor in publishing so I expect better) ➤ stilted dialogue. It had to be said. The strength of this novella definitely lies in the introspection of the main character and his internal thoughts/ emotional journey of the romance. What comes out of the both MCs mouths though was at times very uhm ... unfortunate. On top of that the two just do NOT know how to communicate (and only get marginally better at it towards the end) ➤ little to no world building - writing a good novella takes a lot of skill, simply because the author needs to be much more concise with how they convey information to the reader. The more pages, the more leeway you have to explain things away. The word seems to be ambitious (and interesting! I low key want more) but sadly nothing is really explained all that much. This could have used another 80-100 pages, focusing on the history of the characters, the monsters, etc. ➤ I've seen another reviewer mention this but I totally agree - the name of the book gives a wrong impression. It is told from the POV of the Elf Prince (not that him being a prince matters at all), and not of the person getting entangled with him (aka the Love interest Bren) ➤ The spice was very tastefully written, it's not very graphic, but got my heart beating faster because I felt the characters emotions 🥰
do I recommend it? YES. It's on KU, it's 104 pages, and it is very entertaining! There's action, there's a beautiful romance, and a hot monster hunter eye candy.
This is Book #1 of my 'read it or return it' KU reading challenge, in which I try to read through my GR 'want to read' books that are available on kindle unlimited, either reading them, or sending them back. The Goal is to (hopefully) clear some books off of my shelf and find new favorites.
Entangled With An Elf Prince is a novella that centers on the charming dark-elf prince, Keenyn, and his golden and almost herculean companion, Bren. Amidst a world swarming with monsters that await in the darkness like nightmares, Keenyn and Bren are among the few hunters sent to dispatch these looming threats. Among the near misses with death, love blooms between the two monster hunters, and they soon come to know the battles of the heart as well as the battles of the sword. That is, if they both survive them first.
From the beginning onward, the novella does well in introducing our main characters. The novella takes place entirely through Keenyn's eyes, and his narrative is well written, with charming dialogue akin to C.S. Pacat, and crafted with beautiful lines reminiscent of Madeline Miller.
"I could drown him in a thousand truths about me, about him, about us."
The story had exceptional plot and pacing. Never once was there a predictable point; only satisfying turns and twists. I loved Bren and Keenyn from the start, and seeing them unfold through the pages of plots, backstory, and dialogues was a wonderful experience. The romance was smooth, never forced, and is decently balanced out throughout the novella. (The confession being my favorite scene, simply because of the novelty in how it is executed.) Even their steamier love scenes were beautifully written and did not once detract from the plot, but only added on to more of their developing character. Despite being a novella, it felt as though I had read through a book's worth of adventures by the end of it. I couldn't help but want more of Bren and Keenyn. I truly enjoyed this novella all the way through, and I am happy that I got a chance to receive an ARC copy of it.
With this debut novella, Amanda Ferreira displays masterful storytelling, weaves delightful plots, and writes unforgettable characters. If this debut novella is an example of her writing potential, then I have nothing but the utmost confidence in her next projects going forward.
The good + The mutual trust between them + Mutual pining + Keenyn telling Bren where to shove it when he wasn't allowed to protect Bren in return + Only one horse
The neutral o This book is not part of a series, but it feels like the reader gets dropped in the middle of a story o These idiots don't know how to communicate, so be prepared for that when you decide to read this
The bad - There was a lot of worldbuilding and character background the author had evidently worked out, but most of it wasn't put on page. This made things very confusing and many things were left unexplained. Where did Bren's scars come from? What was up with Bren's father? Why did Keenyn and Bren have to desert? - Keenyn was injured and lost fights really often throughout the book. I think he was supposed to be equal to Bren, but it didn't feel that way
There was a lot going on in the background and the world itself that didn't get explained in the story, so it felt like I just read part of a book with the beginning and end shaved off. It wasn't bad, it was just disorienting and confusing. But the couple is together and incredibly in love so that's great. I'll be keeping an eye on this author's future works.
I don't usually read standalone novellas because I don't think 100 pages can do justice to a story but ENTANGLED WITH AN ELF PRINCE surprised me.
It was such a satisfying read and yet left me wanting more. The slow burn romance was so well done. Spice content was 6/5 (yeah it was super hot 🥵). It has one of my favorite trope: best friends to lovers, although I have to say I like enemies to lovers more in a fantasy novel, so this was a very good surprise.
Idk if the author plans on writing a full fledged nov for these two but she should really consider it. I'll read it and probably anyone who loves a good m-m fantasy story.
Thank you to MTMC Tours and Amanda Ferreira for the digital copy. ❤
Dithering somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars. I quite liked this one, but desperately wish it was longer so that there'd be time to dive into the characters' backstories and tell us more about the world itself. Damn, that world-building, I Am Intrigued. Would love to read more books in this world to find out more about it.
This was a fun read! I really liked the characters, and the world and its magic and its monsters were really interesting. I definitely think the story could benefit from being expanded on though! There was a lot going on and I felt they weren’t all coherently explained. It sounds like such a cool (and scary) setting! I want to know more!
I know it’s a novella. I understand this. But I do not accept this pls give me a entire novel or a series. I need the whole backstory. I adored these characters and I just think they would serve a full length novel wonderfully!
This novella felt like a novel, in all the right ways. One of my Christmas wishes this year will be a full-length version of this beauty! And that COVER ART! Glorious goodness!
Pure and descriptive imagery, creepy monsters, layers of character depth that are typically difficult to build in shorter stories, all wrapped up together in a book that had me on the edge of my seat. Although at first I wasn’t really quite sure of their backstories, and felt a little out of the loop, the author filled it in nicely as the story flowed so by the end I was very satisfied (wink, wink).
The relationship between the elf & human MCs felt organic and believably years long, and their feelings for each other were nothing short of beautiful. I did NOT expect this sort of depth of feeling in a novella. Very impressive. And very hot 🔥. I loved the tasteful expressions of intimacy, so unlike what I’m used to reading but no less sexy for it. I want MORE! I’ll be thinking of these two for a while.
This book comes out October 12th. Don’t pass it up!
If you're a fan of friends-to-lovers (especially of the idiots-to-lovers variety), this is the novella for you!
Entangled With an Elf Prince is told from Keenyn's first person POV. Keenyn has had the misfortune of discovering that not only is his best friend attractive, he may be a little in love with him.
I really enjoyed the friendship/relationship between Keenyn and Bren. Also it's kind of fun that the elf prince is the "bleeding heart" idealist and the human (who gives off chosen one vibes) is the "we can't save everyone" realist. I liked how Bren's that's-not-my-problem attitude played out when confronted with Keenyn's but-we're-heroes mindset.
I'd be curious to see more of the world of Entangled With an Elf Prince, but all in all, this was a solid debut novella!
Many thanks to the author, Amanda Ferreira, for the eARC. Also be sure to check out her instagram for character charts, art, and more!
A super short fantasy read, actual rating 2.5 stars. It was okay, although not entirely what I was expecting. It kind of felt like we were dropped in the middle of a story, and I had to check that this wasn’t the second book in a series. I liked the characters, but I do wish we could have gotten to see a bit more of their personalities.
It kind of felt like the book went—they argue, there’s sexual tension, they argue, there’s sexual tension, they fight a monster, they have sex, they almost die, they have sex. And I was kind of disappointed, because there was so much potential to be a really cool fantasy book.
The relationship between Bren and Keenyn is very beautiful and I was very interested in the connection that they have that also stems from the magic that Keenyn uses to heal himself and Bren. I was very interested in the characters. With this being said I really wished that more world development had happened and more backstory had been developed. I also feel like the story ended very abruptly.
I would love to read more about this world and these Characters.

4 stars (8/10), 💥💥 Oh wow, what a fun and sweet story. I must admit I wanted to read it based on a post with the tropes, the specific ones I remembered being 'one falls first but the other harder' and 'pining for 6 years', but I got a little confused about who each of these things related to and only really worked it out near the end. That being said, this story was packed full of plot, battle scenes, sexual tension, tender moments, and a fascinating world we get to see a little bit of but of which remains largely unknown, and it lends the story a really mystic feeling. I very much could have read an entire 300 page book on this plotline only, with a deeper look at Bren's and Keenyn's history and Bren's father and the queen and running away together from that life, and the magic of the world as well as the monsters and the history there, leading up to where the story starts and how they end up with the mission they did, and of course lots more sexual tension and pining followed by going through with all of their fantasies 😏 having said that, the story does feel a little packed and sometimes a little bit hard to follow, but it did well to fit so much into this story without really giving anything that was unnecessary. I really liked these two, and I would so love to read more about them and their story and fighting together and love etc etc etc. Definitely a good read for getting you out of a slump which I was almost falling into today.
This is everything I want from a fantasy romance—angst, mutual pining, physical intimacy galore, and a plethora of lovers going wild when the other gets hurt in battle. It was fantastic!
I see some people complaining about the story being confusing, but I actually loved that about it. I really loved that they didn’t do the massive info dump in chapter one thing and just sprinkled in the information when it was needed. It’s a personal preference of course, but I like having to figure things out! Also, it had a surprising amount of gore for a romance, which I also enjoyed. It really added to the angst factor.
The only things that keep it from getting full stars is that I was confused-in-a-bad-way a few times (like mundane details not adding up in a scene, not backstory information not being revealed). I was also kind of put off by the main character’s name (Keenyn is just one of those modern-name-spelled-wrong names that peeve me in fantasy books) but that’s not too big of a deal since it’s in first person.
All in all, a great time! I recommend it for fans of queer fantasy romance!
So, I get the idea behind authors starting out a story by dropping a person into the middle of some sort of conflict... But this... Huh? Why do I feel like I've been dropped abruptly into the middle of something? That somehow I should understand what's going on. Like there was another book before this one... Wait was there?? It doesn't look like it, but I get the feeling something was cut out, left out, or missing...something... Just a jarring start.
I definitely feel like this either completely missed the mark for me, or this was totally not the novella for me. The fantasy/fight scenes were...meh. The intimate scenes were..meh. Maybe this needed to be a fully fleshed out fantasy novel to work for me. That's the only thing I can think as to why this didn't work for me. Everything just felt rushed.
Being a novella the worldbuilding in this fantasy is drawn in very broad strokes and leaves a lot of questions open. There are some interesting things here but this really isn't about them. This is about Keenyn and Bren sorting themselves out. It does accomplish that. The sexual tension is well drawn, the fights are pretty brutal and visceral, and when they finally got there it -was- satisfying.
Most of my complaints are really down to the novella length. There isn't a single other named character, why is everything the way it is in this world. It's interesting enough world building that I want to know the latter but a novella isn't the place to address it. Still for what this was, an entertaining short read with two interesting characters finally figuring themselves out... it was solid. Worth the read.
So this little book sneaked up on me. Once I’ve seen the cover, there was no stopping me even though I was in the middle of another series. And you know what they say, not to judge the book by it’s cover, and I agree, but can’t help myself. I was fully ready for the disappointment, but it never came. The book was surprisingly good written. I mean there is no non-sense, no cringy phrases, characters with personality, all dialogues make sense, all fears/thoughts are valid/understandable. And the trope is SO my jam. Friends-to-lovers with a LOT of longing. I live for this longing, the more the better. And although, it lacks actually a proper world-building and character’s backstory, I’m giving it 5 stars, because it surprised me in the best possible way.
This was a great little book. The author did a great job conveying the emotions of the characters and I really liked both main characters. It is a novella that I read in one sitting. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that it felt like I missed the beginning of the storyline. There was information about the characters’ backstory but not enough to really understand the world and what was going on. I also felt like the story should continue. That being said I really enjoyed the book. Hopefully the author will write more about the characters and the world as it was very interesting and an enjoyable read.
For me this book was great! I just really wanted to read a high fantasy romance and this was it. It did feel as if you were dropped in the middle of the story but I didn’t mind it too much as the world and Keenyn and Bren’s history becomes more fleshed out as you read. The romance was beautiful and sweet. There was a lot of mutual pining and passion. But I also found myself getting drawn into the world the author has built. I really hope the author writes more books set in the same world. Whether its with Keenyn and Bren or a new set of characters.

I was really enjoying the adventure with these two, the monster killing, the tension. It was over far too soon, I could definitely read another 200 pages of their lives.
Though short, the build-up was satisfying, the ending a relief- a gasp of FINALLY. I don't often read romance, it's usually not my genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Maybe it's the monster killing. Maybe it's the beautiful elf. Maybe it's the gay. Not sure. ;)
