I'm a ballerina by day, an exotic dancer by night. Until I meet him. My patron.
He makes an offer that I cannot afford to refuse. Be his private dancer, only teasing him. I sign a contract and he sweeps me into a rich, sumptuous new life.
I'm caught up in the way he looks at me. The way his hands shape my body. His rough, dominant touch brings me to unexplored heights.
I start to forget the number one rule of being an exotic dancer. Don't fall for your customers.
Broken Promises is a box set of contemporary billionaire romances from Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Amazon Top 20 best-selling author Vivian Wood. It contains the three full-length novels in the gritty, raw, passionate Broken Slipper Trilogy. It also offers bonus content, including the follow-up novella Possessive, featuring an unexplored romance between characters from the trilogy.
Unpopular opinion here, it wasn't that good. The many, many grammatical errors make it unbearably frustrating to read. The inconsistencies in the storyline confused me. Was Calum the new stage director as stated on page 102 or was he the choreographer as mentioned on page 671? If he was the choreographer, what was Basil? What was with all the mention of the Russian mob without any kind of backstory or explanation? I felt like the author tried to throw in so many different angles without taking time to explore all of them. When I realized the steamy scenes were repeated WORD FOR WORD (The scene on page 298 is the exact same scene from page 571 - word for word) I was done. The steam was good but it wasn't enough to make me finish all 987 pages.
Book 1: The first in the Broken Slipper series, The Patron will pull readers in and never let you go! We are introduced to Kaia, a women who has devoted her life to being a ballerina and currently attends the extremely rigorous and prestigious New York Academy of Ballet. Unfortunately, Kaia has a secret that could ruin her chances if it were ever found out, but she has to work and make good money to afford life at this school. At her job, she meets Calum, a billionaire who requests a private dance from her. He becomes infatuated with her and her dance abilities. However, Calum is also keeping secrets, and when these two discover they have more similarities than they could ever realize, passions will rise and these two broken souls may be the only ones able to help the other. I was completely enthralled throughout the book!
Book 2: The Dancer had incredibly steamy moments with our favorite couple Kaia and Callum. Although the events of book 1 ended with the two in a precarious situation, the draw they feel for one another is too much to fight. Once together again, you can see Kaia starting to come out of her shell and expect more from the relationship, which pushes Callum to open up more emotionally. That was a nice change to see in his character. Honor isn't the only obstacle in their tale, however, and soon the couple has even more trying to tear them a part. Book 2 in the Broken Slipper series ended on another nail biting cliffhanger! Nice thing about this boxset, you can dive right into book 3!
Book 3: Oh boy, The Embrace was the perfect conclusion for Calum and Kaia's story! Between betrayals, horrible family members, and their own personal conflicts, these two have been through a lot and there is just as much heartache in book 3 of the Broken Slipper series. However, there is also just as much heated romance and happiness throughout, and the author did a fantastic job bringing everything together in this finale.
Possessive a Novella: Introduced to Lucas in the Broken Slipper trilogy as Calum's brother, it was great getting a novella focused on him. Looking for revenge, he enlists the expertise of a ballerina named Manon from Club Heaven. They both decide to help each other, but the heat between the two is undeniable, and in the end, it's impossible to ignore. This was a smokin' filled novella full of intensity, deceit, and passion. A great extension to the Broken Slipper world!
OMG, you get not one but three awesome books in the Broken Slipper box set (The Patron, The Dancer, The Embrace)!! This series just Blew...My...Mind and left me flabbergasted, but it has an unexpected surprise that is so jaw-dropping good! I was intrigued from the first paragraph and by the end, I was hooked. There is so much to unpack... blackmail, secrets, stalkers, turmoil, heartbreak, danger, and passion. This series had me swooning, drooling and panting over Calum Fordham, and had me reading for the better part of it with a big grin on my face. It was the perfect blend of heartwarming, hotness, and tortured hero and heroine.
This is Calum Fordham and Kaia Madeline Walker’s story. Calum is the CEO of his company, Indica Tech as well as stage director at New York Ballet (NYB). He maybe considered pure perfection—he is tortured, cold-hearted, passionate, controlling, but he isn’t afraid to admit that he is damaged, tender, arrogant, possessive, gorgeous, and sexy as hell. He does not take ‘no’ for an answer, and he gets whatever or whomever he wants. But Calum is concealing a secret that happened when he was younger. Gah! My heart is bursting here!
Kaia is a shy person who has always wanted to be a ballerina all her life, and her goal is to dance and perform for the NYB. This is a story of a woman who has never known love and a man broken by the horrors of his past who were drawn to each other, and despite being haunted by the demons of their pasts, somehow find a way to enjoy each other’s company.
Away from the prying eyes of the world, the masks that they hold in place slip off, and despite both being deeply tortured and broken, they seemed perfect for each other...until they weren’t! Of course, there’s more to their story that can’t be surmised in a few short sentences, but will Calum justify his behavior? Well, you will have to read the series to find out what IS their story—is Calum’s behavior justified or not—revolving around one empirical truth: we want what we can’t have! There are several twists and turns within the story that will tempt the characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Vivian Wood delivered a powerful and emotional, all-consuming story that left me obsessed and yearning for more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Broken Promises includes all three books in the Broken Slipper Series: The Patron, The Dancer and The Embrace as well as the novella Possessive It revolves around Kaia who is a ballerina student by day and a stripper by night. The minute Callum sees her dance he is intrigued by her, but they both soon find out that their relationship is forbidden since Callum is an instructor in the ballet company that Kaia desperately wants to be apart of. Callum and Kai face many obstacles in their relationship and this steamy, intense series will draw you in and keep you guessing.
The Patron is the first book in Vivian Wood’s Broken Slipper trilogy. For being a stripper, Kaia is innocent and naïve. Her father is strict and controlling and she is trying to escape his hold. She has a gentle heart and truly cares for Callum. Callum is a broken man with secrets from his childhood that he guards closely. He doesn’t let anyone into his world, but he does find Kaia melting his rough and dark exterior. However, when outside forces threaten, will he sacrifice Kaia?
The Dancer is the second book in the Broken Slipper trilogy and picks up one month after the events of The Patron. The attraction between Kaia and Calum is even hotter than the previous book. I think they just about lit my kindle on fire. The physicality of their relationship gets even more intense of their feelings deepen and they allow themselves to be more vulnerable with each other.
The Embrace is the conclusion to Calum’s and Kaia’s story and it picks up right where we left off. While still reeling with the realization about his feelings for Kaia, the couple are dealt one blow after another as they try to determine their future relationship. Will their struggles make them stronger or destroy their relationship entirely?
Possessive was a short and steamy novella set in the Broken Slipper world and focuses on Lucas and Manon. A relationship that starts as revenge quickly turns into something deeper. Both Lucas and Manon have to learn how to navigate this strange new world and the reader is quickly drawn into their passionate story. Full of heat and explosive chemistry, this fast-paced story will leave you wanting more.
What an amazing series this Broken Slipper Trilogy is!
Author Vivian Wood has outdone herself with this forbidden love series, THE BROKEN SLIPPER trilogy. In BROKEN PROMISES you have the complete book set that started with book one, THE PATRON, continued in THE DANCER through to the epic finale that was THE EMBRACE where the ending she gave Kaia and Calum’s story was just perfect, including putting them through one hell of a challenging situation!
You’re lucky to get the books all together because you’ll feel the need to get to know the characters, their backgrounds and the circumstances surrounding their meeting and want to make your way through their red-hot and steamy story in one hit, wanting to get insight into the hearts, minds and motivations of Kaia and Calum.
The broken and untrusting Calum discovered how much he needs his Dancer. He’s possessive, alpha, controlling and hurtful, but is also extremely protective. He lashes out at the those closest to him, and if you’ll need to read the books consecutively to truly appreciate where his ‘ice-cold’ heart lies.
It’s hard to remember that Kaia is only nineteen, and even though her soft heart makes her a target for her family, especially for her father, she has a backbone, and by crikey, she puts it to good use in THE EMBRACE. Wow, what a change in her outlook, and she was a character I admired in her determination to succeed, her pure motives, and her ability to love unconditionally.
I honestly thought that after finishing the second book, there wasn’t a lot more that Ms Wood could put them through, but because this is the cut-throat world of the New York Ballet, there were always secrets to be exposed, and scandals to be written about in the press. And speaking of heat, yes, there is plenty of that to be had between our highly attractive and gorgeous couple.
I’m also going to add that Ms Wood pulled off a character move that left me pleasantly gobsmacked and it’s awesome that she has included the novella POSSESSIVE in this box set for your reading pleasure.
BROKEN PROMISES is everything that those who love the damaged alpha billionaire, dance and forbidden love tropes need in their reading lives. One-click now – it’s an amazing all in one series. 5-Stars ❣🩰
Whoa! How do I write a review about so much awesomeness? How do I find the right words to describe my feelings? I am definitely not up to this task! I don't know where to start or what to say. Calum and Kaia's story is hot. As in ... scorching hot! It's dark and twisted, raw and mysterious, romantic and dirty, forbidden and passionate, sweet and suspenseful ... all at the same time. And, obviously, more than complicated. This series is captivating and intriguing from the first page, a real page-turner. I found myself holding my breath several times, even gasping for air, and I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. There were so many ups and downs that my head was spinning. Barely having recovered from one blow, the next one came out of the blue. Kaia and Calum's story is complex, as are their personalities. I loved how they developed, individually and together, working on their problems and finding solutions, even if they had to endure some heartache, tears and setbacks to do so ... The Broken Slipper trilogy is one of the best series Ms. Wood has written to date.
Bonus novella POSSESSIVE
Lucas and Manon's novella is everything I expected and so much more. Their story is exciting and captivating from beginning to end, and I literally devoured it. The chemistry between these two ... incredibly hot. Their attraction ... so intense. There is only one teeny tiny thing that I didn't like ... It ended way too fast, lol. I would love to read more about this great couple, and of course Maisie.
This box set contains Books 1-3 in the Broken Slipper Series by this author. It is a captivating romance between ballerina Kaia and billionaire Calum. Trust me when I say that this book will go right to your head...and heart. Kaia and Calum are incredible characters that are easy to fall for. The sparks, chemistry, tension and emotions really zing back and forth between these two. The storyline offers an addicting combination of feels, swoon, laughter, heart, drama and twists. The author's writing style is easy to read, with a good balance of angst and humorous banter between her characters and scorching sex scenes. The interesting cast of supporting characters makes the story engaging. An intriguing read, with lots of frustrating moments, sweetness and witty, flirtatious banter that made it flow seamlessly.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this box set and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I've never seen an author write with soo many inconsistencies, as if you spent 20 years writing and forgot everything in each book of the series, but to forget which birth control to telling him she's on birth control in book 1 then getting on the pill in book 2 and telling him she's on bc again, the same blackmail book 1 Honor to book 2 Emma - did you forget H was already blackmailed in the same way, to forget that you already told your brother she said she loved you then a 2nd time and it was as if the first time he heard it, to h age, is she 20 or 18 our 19 because it's written differently from book 1 to 3,not sure how you can start at age 20 then drop to 18 but okay. There were more. It took me out of my head. I did finish reading because I like ballet books. Not sure if you realized but you said h had an IUD in book 1 but just have forgotten as you made her take birth control pills in book 2 😅
Kaia and Callum story was nothing but a rewritten Fifty Shades of Grey, extremely poorly written at that; Manon story not interested; couldn’t even get into Ella’s story. Poor writing, poor execution, typos galore, details not consistent, characters are ridiculously written. I skimmed and skipped just to get through this mess. And even that was hard. I’m deleting this off my device. Not even Kindle Unlimited worthy.
I was excited to read this trilogy. Calum and Kaia are complex and damaged, but they have a deep bond from the beginning of their acquaintance. It is always disappointing when authors choose not to edit their books. It affects the rating they receive and the enjoyment of the reader.
The story was ok but the editing was terrible. After performing Sleeping Beauty a reporter asks a character how they like playing In Cinderella. The first and second love scenes were verbatim until after the climax (ha) I actually went back to check that my book hadn’t accidentally skipped backwards.
You have got to be kidding me. He has abused her verbally time and again. Treated her like a play thing. Yes, she 19 but come on. She watched her father treat her mother and her that way and she broke all attack with him. Now she getting into another relationship with a baby, he doesn’t want, to make things worse.

This series was ok. Not great. The plot was a bit thin. Trilogy was overstuffed with sexy scenes that became excessive, and thus, boring. MC continued to make similar/same mistakes. FMC continued to forgive and forget. I’d say this is 2.5 stars, but I rounded up. Not worth a reread.
This is a phenomenal box set and if you love Vivian‘s writing, this set blow your mind. It contains the patron, the dancer and the embrace with a novella of possesive.
Gee, these guys may have tons of money but they are definitely head cases, too. They treat inappropriately young women poorly, then fall grudgingly in love.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A gritty billionaire romance trilogy about a ballerina turned exotic dancer swept into a wealthy, dangerous man’s world. Raw, passionate, and emotionally charged, it explores power dynamics and forbidden attraction.
