Silverblood Raven

A Path of Blood and Amber

Rate this book
Raven was eight when her parents were murdered. Now it’s happened again. Her guardian murdered. Their home destroyed. She can hunt and fight, but life in isolation hasn’t prepared her for survival outside the forest.

The magic within her makes her a target for execution by the Silverblood Brotherhood, an institution that regulates such powers with an iron fist. Having never spoken to a stranger before, how can she hope to navigate a world where anyone might turn her in for that magic?

Before his death, her guardian dreamed of living somewhere Raven would be safe and accepted. Maybe she can still find that, if the Brotherhood doesn’t find her first.

Great opener

A life of tragedy and isolation follow one so young on her own. Possessing gifts of magic she will become a target. Dreams of acceptance a focus through the danger that surrounds.

An exciting quick read full of mystery, peril and heart. Some great scary creatures and a heroine you can get behind.

An excellent fantasy series, I really enjoyed all three books! Fun magical creatures, interesting magic system likeable FMC with a whole bunch of issues that the introverted amongst us face.

The writing and world building is exactly how I like my books, I was pulled along for the ride, sorrow, fear, excitement, happiness are all wrap up in 3 wonderful books!

While the first book in a series, it can be read as a standalone.

I enjoyed the MC as Raven leaves behind her life of (mostly) isolation to range in the larger world. Her features themselves betray that she is magic enhanced and part elven. Author McCormack doesn't just focus on her though. There are other characters followed in intervening chapters and its possible to see their focus and reasons for actions as their stories and Raven's entwine.

Author McCormack crafted an indepth fantasy world filled with perils, adventures, an intriguing take on magic, machinations, and more. The story comments on how people interact with each other as well as being filled with the action and magic of fantasy worlds.
