Find Joy in Chaos: How to Build Your Twitter Presence so Connections and Opportunities Come Find You

Rate this book
Why does Twitter seem so chaotic? How can you best use it?

You are getting on Twitter to build yourself a presence and an audience. What’s the first thing you do? You start by following the most successful influencers. And without you knowing it, you start imitating what they do.

This makes sense - if it works for them, it works for you, right?

Wrong. The truth is Twitter is just one part of everyone’s presence. You don’t get to see the big picture.

And by focusing on what works for them instead of you,
• You’re getting pulled into the wrong corner of Twitter
• You’re not bringing your true self online but pretending to be someone else
• You’re feeling overwhelmed and discouraged contorting yourself to fit in
• You’re not enjoying Twitter so you quit thinking it is not for you

But you don’t have to feel this way. Once you understand that success on Twitter actually comes from figuring out your own plan, you’ll be one of the people who use Twitter to get your wins.

In Find Joy in Chaos, I’m going to take you on an honest and actionable journey to designing and growing your Twitter presence. Here are some of the things you’ll work on:

• You don’t need a “huge” audience
• Unfold who you are and create a guideline to show up and express yourself
• Take out the jargon and craft an inviting profile so people want to talk to you
• 5 ways you can find and connect with like-minded people on Twitter
• How to stop tweeting wisdom bombs into the void and start getting heard
Building online relationships is not hard with these 4 simple steps
• How you can enjoy Twitter and play the long game

I first did Kevon's email course on Twitter and that was the best advice I ever got about using Twitter. This books includes that and much more. I was definitely one of those that have been trying to use Twitter for years (I think you can measure it in decades now) and failing. Kevon's advice changed that.

This book is very tactical, which is great for this type of books. I've been applying what Kevon teaches and not only my audience has been growing, what's more important is that I've been having meaningful conversations with people on Twitter. That's very valuable.

I was at SXSW when Twitter launched, so I've been using it for a long time. Still, like many early users, and maybe everybody, I didn't really know its power – it seemed more like a novelty tool for people to broadcast where they were, which is exactly how it was used at SXSW that week.

Fast-forward 15 years or so ... people have figured Twitter out. And in this book, Kevon Cheung shared the plan I wish I'd had early on.

Fortunately, it's not too late to look at what you're doing on Twitter and, making what will probably be small changes for you, get bigger and better results from your use than you ever have.

This book gives you a systematic, step-by-step plan that is thought-out and easy to put in place. It's a quick read and the suggestions Kevon gives can be implemented as you go through the book, meaning you can see results by tomorrow.

Twitter is still a viable method for connecting online and Kevon will show you how to take full advantage of it.

Kevon's voice comes through as the voice of a kind person who cares for your success and cheers you on.

The book itself is fairly short at 150 pages and is designed to be acted upon. Kevon takes you through his own experience on Twitter and what he's learned along the way. Out of that experience he produces a system to replicate his results, and at the same time be genuine on the platform, true to your voice. In the beginning, he even helps you discover your voice, if you're in doubt.

In the "chaotic" Twitterverse, where people chase after metrics and tactics, Kevon has a refreshing take on how we can find "joy" by getting comfortable being yourself and building real connections on the platform. The book is a sane reminder of what social media could mean for you and also shows you how you can get started immediately.

Fun fact: this book isn't written by one person, but by 20+ people (maybe even more). It was written in the spirit of "Build in Public"—a philosophy coined by makers, and strongly advocated by Kevon. This means: ideas have been debated, advice battle-tested, and information you need prioritized.

I enjoyed reading this book. I think you will too.

For me Kevon is a friendly Mentor and a friend.
I can just say awesome things about his book "Find Joy in Chaos".
My Twitter mindset shifted from followers chasing to making friends.
And I want to share a true story 👇
Kevon suggest to tweet 20% about you, so I shared a personal AI experiment about me and my wife,
and it was retweeted by Pieter Levels.
Call me lucky, but nothing happens if you don't take action.
Thanks so much Kevon!
