At Haven Academy, if you're not a rich kid, you're a charity case. The two don't mix. And they certainly don't fall in love...
Troublemaker, Maverick, knows he doesn't belong in the wealthy hallways of the elitist boarding school, but he's still managed to make some friends along the way. Outcasts just like him—the Haven Misfits, a newly formed dance crew trying to prove everybody wrong about them. There's only one unspoken rule in his crew—don't fall for the pretty rich girls. But when he comes across one with a bleeding lip and tears in her eyes, all rules are forgotten.
Londyn knows to steer clear of the school's bad boys, but when she's assaulted by one of her own, it's Maverick who's there taking care of her. He makes her feel safer and more protected than the gates her family and friends hide behind. He's her knight, and her friend, and then...something so much more.
But can this fairytale romance last? As their newfound feelings are exposed, it threatens the truce that keeps the two worlds living in harmony, and when a war breaks out between the haves and the have nots, friendships, loyalties and their hearts are put on the line…

The chemistry and sweetness kept things interesting. Add in drama and all the feels and you have a good read. Can't wait for the next one! I was privileged enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for a voluntary and honest review.
I couldn’t get enough of this book, I stayed up late last night finishing the book because I couldn’t wait to know how it went down!! This was absolutely a Romeo x Juliet romance, two lovers that come from different backgrounds that neither of their families and friends agree with.
This story follows Just a Little White Lie by Melody Sweet. I highly recommend you reading that book before you start this one. It gives a lot of background before you read this book.
Londyn comes from a rich background, popular, beloved by her friends and family. When one party happens where things get rough, she goes to the school and runs into Maverick.
Maverick is from a poor family, part of the misfit group of kids that were accepted into Haven Academy based on their background. He loves two things: dance and photography.
When Maverick helps Londyn go home, there ends up a lot of misunderstandings and blame going around. Even though Maverick, Londyn, and one other person are the only ones that knows the truth, everyone turns to the guy that has a track record. It’s easiest to place blame on the person that has anger management issues.
I couldn’t believe how both of these characters grew as characters. Londyn was shy, not willing to speak up, not wanting to become a loner. She was all about being with the popular crowd and the thought of having to let that go made her quiet. Maverick would throw punches after a while of being verbally abused. He went to therapy, tried his hardest but when he saw red, it was all over.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series! It’s coming soon!!
Maverick Loves Londyn (Haven Misfits) is a spinoff of Just a Little White Lie by Melody Sweet who writes sweet and clean romances. A young adult fairytale romance with star-crossed lovers from different side of the tracks. Being this author writes too quickly I don't have enough time to read both Melody Sweet and Jordan Ford books so I missed getting the background details by not reading White Lie. Which is why I feel I only gave this book four stars as opposed to five stars which I normally find all of this authors books to be five star reads. I didn’t fall in love with any of the characters, but I loved the plot and wish I could have invested the time in reading White Lie. I did like Mavericks character, and I felt Londyn wasn't a strong enough character and I wish she had a better backbone. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series which is Londyn's best friend supporting character story. So I would recommend reading White Lie first for better enjoyment.
TW sexual assault I could not put this book down! When I was forced to it was all that occupied my thoughts. I loved reading about Maverick and Londyn. It's also very realistic to the real world sadly. I say sadly because in this crazy world women/SA survivors are hardly ever believed and generally when the abuser is wealthy or a white man there's hardly ever any repercussions, if any at all. This book gracefully handles a tough topic and while it did not delve into Maverick's background too much, a sister series book Just A Little White Lie by Melody Sweet does. This book follows right after that one and while they are not the same series or even needed to read the other, I recommend them both and to start with Little White Lie first to get an even broader experience.
Another amazing story fromJorfan Ford. Their characters are always normal people, struggling with their lives but can always overcome their problems and be stronger thanks to themselves and the people around them. Maverick is a misfit, a troublemaker. Londyn is the good and popular girl. But when Mavericks helps her they feel a connection. Can the fight their feelings or will they fight for each other? Great as always, I love Jordan's books
I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
Maverick Loves Londyn is the first book in the Misfits Remix series. It does tie in with this author's other series Haven Hallways under her pen name Melody Sweet. I do think this book can be read as a standalone, but feel like I could enjoy it more because I already read Just a Little White Lie. In Just a Little White Lie Maverick's story already starts and we get to know the misfits and see Maverick struggle with his anger and learn about his background. This book feels like a continuation of that story, but the romance starts in this book.
Maverick Loves Londyn has a bit of a Romeo and Juliet vibe romance. Maverick is from a poor household and is one of the charity cases the school picks to attend. He has a close group of friends who call themselves the misfits. A lot of the other students look down upon the misfits and think they don't belong there. Londyn is from a rich household and struggles living up to all the expectations from her parents. She runs in the popular circle and a lot of her friends look down upon the misfits. She doesn't think it's right how they treat the misfits, but doesn't have the courage to stand up against them at first.
I really liked seeing these two characters meet and fall in love with one another. They have this very intense and consuming romance. It's clear they would do anything for the other and they actually do a lot for the other. They both fight hard for what they have and both have to face their friends disapproval. Londyn struggles standing up to her friends and speak the truth after she gets sexually assaulted. I like how she slowly finds her voice and fights for what she believes in. Things escalate and tensions run high. It was awesome seeing how things got resolved at the end and how these two find their way together.
There are some very sweet and touching moments. These two are so good together, but they have a lot going against them. I liked seeing how they dealt with everything. I thought their romance was well done and how there were plenty of scenes where we see them together and feel their connection.
I was a bit sad with how the school and a lot of the students treat the misfits, but it's great to see how they did have some people in their corner. There are some awesome teachers who do believe in the misfits and fight for them and that was great to see. I also liked seeing how close the misfits where and we also see a few of the rich side characters that are interesting.
To summarize: This was a great start to this new series. I do recommend checking out the Haven Hallways series by this author's pen name Melody Sweet as that one ties into this series. I liked Maverick and Londyn and their romance. I liked seeing them fall for one another and there are some great scenes where I really felt the intensity of their feelings. They have a lot going against them, they are from different sides and their friends hate each other. I liked seeing how they dealt with things and how everything got resolved at the end. It was sad to see how many teachers and students didn't like the misfits and felt like they didn't belong, but there are also some great teachers who care about the misfits and have their back. There are some interesting side characters, both misfits and some of the rich students too and a set up for the next book's romance. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I was totally hooked from the first page and couldn't help rooting for misunderstood Misfit, Maverick and the rich girl, Londyn. I loved this Romeo-Juliet story so much, though I have to say, I definitely preferred this happy ending! The authentic dialogue, amazing kissing scenes, and the sweet relationship between the MC's was just brilliant. The playlist is also excellent.
This is the first book I've read of Ms. Jordan's, but it will not be the last. I can't wait to read Selah and Dante's story next.
Another brilliant series has kicked off from the very talented Jordan Ford and I am absolutely hooked! Maverick loves Londyn was a highschool YA Romance with Romeo and Juliet undertones. Her stories really capture your attention and don't let you go. It was a case of clashing social classes, fighting injustice and striving for the truth when those around you want to believe what is easier versus fact. I loved getting to see dancing misfit Maverick show his softer side towards Londyn, they really were a great couple that had to fight against the odds to be together. A great start to this new series.
This book goes side by side with Just a Little White Lie by Melody Sweet. However, they can both be read separately. I do highly recommend reading both those. I’ve read both in one day. I just could not get enough!
This book was all about Maverick who is a “Misfit” known for getting into trouble a lot. When he tries to do the right thing and help fellow classmate Londyn, it backfires. He ends up accused of the one assaulting her. No one believes one of their own could have done this.
What is unexpected is that Maverick and Londyn end up falling for each other, and they fall hard! I loved to read their love story and was rooting for them with every turning page.
Although Londyn is the victim and attacked in this story, there are no graphic details, and it is not a full-on sexual assault. It was tastefully done.
I enjoyed this YA romance a bunch. It has a couple of triggers but they are dealt with pretty well. I loved the flow of the book and the easy to read writing style. It was great seeing characters from Just a Little White Lie, which is a nice background to a bit of the story in Maverick Loves Londyn. I’m excited for whatever comes next, with what I think will be Dante and Selah.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There is nothing and I mean NOTHING I love more than a swoony contemporary YA romance with a misunderstood bad boy who actually has a heart of gold and that is exactly what this book is.
Maverick is the unofficial leader of the Misfits, a band of charity cases at a posh school who are lumped together and form a dance crew. Londyn is one of the populars, with the world at her feet and strict parents who always want more for her. Mav helps Londyn in her time of need and discovers she isn’t the snooty rich girl he always thought and she learns that the school troublemaker is a complete and utter sweetheart.
There was the perfect balance of drama, teen angst and of course plenty of swoon. This is my first Jordan Ford book and it made me want to go read all of her others immediately.
Thanks to Jordan and her team for providing me an advance copy in exchange for my review.
Maverick Loves Londynis the first book in theMisfits Remixseries by Jordan Ford. And follows the story of Maverick Koa and Londyn Magnes through dual perspective.
The narrative centres around a Star Crossed Lovers,Romeo and Julietinspired plot, given the two main characters being from different sides of the track. On the one hand you have Londyn who comes from a wealthy background and is apart of the popular crowd at school. On the other you have Maverick who comes from a poor family, and happens to be apart of the group of misfit kids who were accepted into the Academy because of their background. When an incident takes place that ends up leading Londyn to Maverick, it opens up to the start of something between both that neither expect. Falling for one another. However it isn’t without problems, given the misunderstandings that occurs causing Maverick’s character to be called into questioning.
WhileMaverick Loves Londynwas a fun, sweet and enjoyable read, with following along Maverick and Londyn in their journey of can love conquer all? story that flowed through. At the same time there were moments of angst, from the despair and distress the two were caused throughout. Especially in Londyn’s case, when it came to the serious issue that was touched upon with the matter of sexual assault that she endured. And the way Jordan approached it was done so in a tactful IMO. Allowing the matter to be played out in a fitting way without going overboard in the details, seeing as howMaverick Loves Londynis a Young Adult book.
One thing that stood out to me in this book was how the story heavily touched base on the saying Don’t judge a book by its cover. But that was a given when you took into account all the hardships that Maverick encountered and fought through, all done so and caused by the basis of his background. It did break my heart to see him have to suffer through it, particularly from the drama it caused for him given the misguided judgement placed upon him with wrongly accused accusations. Of which he didn't deserve at all. Londyn had me partly feeling bad for her too, seeing how much she had to fight with not only being taken seriously and acknowledged with what she was saying. But to actually be heard.
It was definitely sweet to see despite what Maverick and Londyn were going through, they were still able to rely on each other. Allowing this connection to grow with a stronger bond forming between the two as time went on. Ultimately resulting in some cute and adorable moments shared between each other.
While the book was a good read in following Maverick and London’s story overall. Unfortunately there were a few times here and there where the story just wasn’t clicking for me, leading my attention to wane. However it didn’t stop me from continuing on with finishing through.
All in all,Maverick Loves Londynwas still an enjoyable read. And overall Jordan Ford did a good job in writing Maverick and Londyn with bringing their story to life. Especially when it came to handling the incorporation of such serious and sensitive matters within a book that's Young Adult.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Maverick knows his place and it's not among the wealthy of Haven Academy. But lately, he's found his place. The new teacher assigned to the scholarship students started a dance crew, The Haven Misfits, and here Mav has found a place to shine. Londyn is not for him. She's one of the golden girls. But when she's hurt by one of her own, Maverick is there. He becomes her safe place and wins her heart. But in a story as old as time, there is a divide. Can love endure when you're from different worlds? Worlds at war.
There's a reason Romeo and Juliet is the most famous love story of all time. It's been told over and over, through different time periods (Darcy and Elizabeth), with different ethnicities (Tony and Maria), and even in cartoons (Gnomeo and Juliet). There are at least 12 major movie adaptations of the story. It's beautiful, lasting, and relatable. Maverick and Londyn can now be added to the list of star-crossed lovers. Luckily, we don't have to have a tragic outcome in each variant of the wrong side of the tracks love story! This is an emotional read that deals with the sensitive subject of sexual assault complicated by the prejudices of social classes.
Maverick stole this book. If you've read Just A Little White Lie by Melody Sweet, you have already been introduced to the complicated boy. Maverick suffers from an explosive temper and impulse control issues but you can't help but root for him. Life has been stacked against him from the beginning, and you just know if he gets a break, there's a great guy there. Dance and being part of the crew is giving him a chance to show his other side. He is a born leader and has so much talent. With people finally believing in him and standing behind him, he's starting to grow into the man he will be. Londyn brought out his softer side and made him even more lovable. Londyn was not as easy to love. She was conditioned to behave in a certain way and it came across as weak. It took the right person to give her a reason to stand up. I loved the story these two created and look forward to the next one.
I'm sorry for leaving such a bad review. I love this author and I appreciate her devotion to writing. But, there is a but, I couldn't go further than 43%, the stupidity of the h was so huge that I was put out and couldn't flip another page. I mean, Am I summing it all up nicely? Why would you write it like this? You wrote so many wonderful books. I understand you want to keep it clean, because your audience is mostly teenagers and Christian virgins who believe in fairy tales but still, you didn't have to make Londyn such a stupid and naive character. There is nothing to learn from her behavior. I am truly sorry for being so blunt, I don't want to offend you, I don't want to make you miserable, I don't want to hurt your feelings. I just want you to understand that I personally want to read about women who are strong and have a brain cell, even if they are sheltered virgins, women who don't cower from a guy who is scum, and who take a stance against him when he bullies his peers. Also who don't value their status more than morals.
I absolutely loved this one! These two pulled me in from beginning to end and I adored them. Mav has been working on controlling his temper when he is being pushed. He does not usually start the fights but he knows how to finish them and due to manipulations but a certain character knows how to play innocent and Mav ends up in trouble. I loved how Mav always tells the truth and what he is facing for doing the right thing and helping someone out, is horrible. I loved the fact that Londyn will not let Mav take the fall either. It might be the easier choice, especially because she didn't want this to be a big deal and talk about it in the first place, but she won't let the man that helped her out get in trouble for it. These two are drawn to each other and was they spend a little bit of time together they see who they are and so that connection just builds as they get past the surface persona. I loved watching these two come together. They have a lot of hurdles that they have to overcome in order to really be together. I loved watching how they treated each other. This story was a great introduction to the series and misfit crew and I can't wait to see how Haven Academy is going to be shaken up in the next one. These characters grabbed me from the beginning and I am really hoping for more of them in the next books in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Wow, wow, wow! This book was amazing! If you're a fan of movies like Footloose and Dirty Dancing, then you absolutely have to give this book a read!
I've been wanted to read Maverick Loved Londyn for a while now, and I'm so glad I've finally been able to! I'm a bit of a Jordan Ford fan and I was not disappointed by this book!
The plot was incredibly engaging, I quite liked how the book started at the dance competition - straight into the action! It was fast paced and gripping, I just could not put it down! I read it in a three hour sitting.
I cannot begin to express how much I hated Ronan, he made me so angry! In a way though, I think what Ronan did was a very accurate representation of a very real issue. How many cases do we hear about where women aren't believed? It's frustrating, but true and Ford represented this real world issue in a realistic and relatable way.
Maverick and Londyn are the cutest couple ever! I absolutely loved their relationship. They are so sweet and perfect for each other, I love the Romeo and Juliet vibes they emulate. One thing I did notice about the book was that it was set in New Zealand - that's where I live! I was so excited to see this haha.
Overall, another stunning book by Jordan Ford, I would recommend this read to all. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.
It's not often that a book can make you teary within the first couple of pages but this story did just that!! I felt so proud of Maverick and the Misfits (previously introduced to me in Melody Sweet's 'Just A Little White Lie') while reading the intro to this marvelous story that I actually wept! I was hooked from the very first sentence!
While I loved Maverick already it did take me a bit of time to warm to Londyn. I was not impressed with her inability to fight harder to be heard, to be too easily influenced by her friends and pressured into acting a certain way. I definitely didn't think much of her parents in the whole situation either. But I guess that's the beauty of escaping to a story, you don't always have to relate to the characters and their actions. Eventually, though, I grew to like her and most of all I adored how she made Maverick feel. They really were a great match!
I enjoyed the whole star-crossed lovers feel to this romance. I adored getting to know more about the beautiful friendships the Misfits have, and learning more about those characters. And the teachers at the academy too (especially Sully!). It makes me very excited to read more of both series! Can't wait!!!
This book took me too long to read because I took a break from it for about a week. I really enjoyed reading about Maverick and Londyn though. I was super excited to read the first book in this series after reading about the dance teacher. I love how these stories connect such as bringing Jack and Miss Fillian into this story. Maverick is a “troublemaker.” He stands up for himself and his friends and does not come from a good home life. He has angry issues and gets into fights a lot. Unfortunately it’s not just his fault because Ronan provoked him constantly. I really disliked Ronan and wanted to scream a few times because of how perfect everyone thought Ronan was when Maverick is the actual good guy. He just can’t get a grip on his emotions. Londyn is in with the popular crowd and comes from a good home. Unfortunately everyone thinks her and Ronan are together which is the last thing Londyn wants. One night at a party will change everything for her and her future. This book was heart wrenching and a tearjerker for me. I was rooting for Maverick in the other book and I was so outraged with him and for him at times. It’s so messed up to think how relatable this story could be for some kids. Maverick Loves Londyn is an opposites attract high school romance with depth and understanding of how the real world is or could be.
Jordan Ford is my favourite YA author. The romance and characters are sweet without being childish. This school makes me think of 90210 the original, the snobby rich kids in school. Actually like any highschool there are divides between the students, the rich, the nerds etc. Londyn and Maverick are from opposite sides, like Romeo and Juliet, she's rich and he's a charity case so to speak. They both love the arts though and find a connection. There was added drama in this story, parents and teachers who can't possibly believe the truth. Will honesty prevail in the end? This was a wonderful story with such likeable characters, I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read about the next characters in this series.
This YA romance gave me some pretty strong West Side Story/Romeo and Juliet vibes with plenty of drama - though, thankfully, minus the tragic ending.
The writing is excellent, and the author manages to capture the intense feelings of first loves and teenage angst perfectly. The story also deals with heavier subjects (TW: sexual assault) in a realistic manner.
Despite the serious topics, the story made me smile and swoon and root for Maverick and Londyn in particular and the Misfits in general. While the main characters felt realistic and well developed, the antagonists seemed somewhat two-dimensional in their entitled snobbery.
I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know the other Misfits better, too! More, please?
To tell y'all the truth, I hated Romeo and Juliet. When I first read the play, I didn't vibe with it, and my English teacher made it worse.
However, I came to enjoy this story. It doesn't just address problems regarding home lifestyles, I also noticed a little racism. From what I can recall, Maverick is black and has dealt with all of these problems inside and out of Haven Academy. People always have assumed the worst about him. Which sucks. I know because I grew up like that.
Not In a violent household, thankfully. But my parents (specifically my mother) have never seen the good in me. Just because I'm not as religious as them.
l enjoyed reading about how under each of their facades (Mav and Londyn), there lies a kid that's just... broken. And then they bring out the best in each other. Maverick being able to control his anger and Londyn becoming more aware brought me joy.
Can't wait for book 2!!

I read Melodie Sweet’s Just A Little White Lie before this book. It is a companion to this book and introduces the Haven Misfits . I loved Maverick as a character!
Then in Maverick Loves Londyn we meet Maverick’s love interest. I did not like Londyn, she wasn’t good enough for Maverick! I spent almost half of the book pissed at her! She seemed so shallow and flaky. About half way through the book she starts to redeem herself.
I absolutely loved the last half of this book. It does what all Jordan Ford’s books do….they tear you up and slowly put you back together. So many emotions! When I wasn’t reading was thinking about this book! Major book hangover.
Londyn and Maverick come from very different backgrounds. She is from a wealthy family while Maverick is what the other students, and some of the teachers, at Haven Academy refer to as a charity case. I loved this book. As expected there is a lot of teenage angst, it's a school so there are cliques, and unfortunately, there is also some bullying. It's also a love story between two young people who on the surface have nothing in common, but as the story unfolds they discover that through dance, and creativity they are perfect together. I think this is a wonderfully sweet romance with some surprising twists. A quick warning, there is also some physical abuse. I love this author and her books so I am highly recommending this story, and I'm looking forward to the next book, Fantastic!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
We had already met Maverick in “Just a Little White Lie” and now we have the opportunity to get to know him better. Maverick has been trying to control his anger, but Ronan keeps taunting him whenever he gets the opportunity. Londyn is part of the school's elite and her friends doesn't mix with the Haven Misfits. But when Londyn is attacked and Maverick finds her, the two form a connection neither of them expected. While they have to deal with the feelings that arise between them, they also have to deal with the events that could cause Maverick to lose everything he's been fighting for. I loved the story and the new characters. I highly recommend the reading.
What a great story. I am a sucker for the underdog & I felt like Maverick wanting to pummel Ronan along with Everly & Londyn’s mom. It is sad that the rich & entitled can go about their wicked ways & the little people get the crap end of it. Forced to comply or their life become a nightmare. I will admit, I couldn’t stand what a push over Londyn was. She drove me insane! No back bone at all but man did she have a major glow up! I love that in this case, love really does conquer all. Can’t wait for Selah & Dante’s story now!
Just wow. Tragedy averted but a small lie to cover embarrassment and fear snowballs into an impossible situation for Maverick. However love sometimes grows in Tragedy and sometimes it must go through fire before seeing the light. This was a wonderful play on Romeo and Juliet. Maverick is not what he seems to other people and he learns that his own impressions about Londyn are just as wrong. Londyn finds out she was also oh so wrong about the scary Maverick. Beautiful story with a happy tears ending.

It took me a while to get into the story as I was frustrated with how long it took Londyn to tell the truth. But once she starts standing up for herself and Maverick, I couldn’t put the book down.
I loved the relationship between Londyn and Maverick. They were so adorable together and I couldn’t stop smiling whenever they were together.
I’m excited to read the next book in this series and learn more about each of the Misfits of Haven Academy!
This story took me on an emotional roller coaster. It drew me in and made me feel as if I was right there with the characters through their lows and highs. I absolutely adored Maverick and Londyn together. They were so sweet and brought out the best in each other. If you are looking for a book that makes you feel while you read, this is the book for you!
Romeo and Juliet style teen romance. Rich girl 'promised' to the rich mean boy jock falls for the 'bad boy' from the wrong side of the tracks. All the odds are stacked against them. Well written with an original take on a classic. Lots of references to pop culture. Likeable characters. Look forward to the next installment.
This was such a great read. I was hooked from the moment I started it and now I’m looking forward to more. My heart broke for these characters and they both deserve nothing but love and happiness. I can’t wait for Dante’s book next. 🖤🕺🏻💃🖤
