This is book two of the Mountain Captives series and the main characters are Noah Carlsbad and Eden, who dated in high school. He broke her heart when he left town straight after high school and moved to Thorn Mountain to live in the wilds. He didn’t even stay in touch. When her mom comes to tell her she met Noah’s mom in the shop, it is painful still to hear his name. This is soon followed by the shocking news that Noah is dead and has left his cabin on the mountain to her! She travels to the mountains to see the cabin and the wilds that took Noah away from her, but is even more shocked to find Noah alive and looking well inside the cabin! Even worse is that Noah has no intention of ever letting her go. He will happily keep her a prisoner in his cabin, never letting her return to her life in the city, so he doesn’t lose her again. It should be a completely shocking scenario for many, but her attraction to Noah and the love she had for him, makes it difficult to make decisions one way or another.
He ties her to the bed and is about to force himself upon her, before he comes to his right mind and her body betrays her mind. She tries to persuade Noah to return to a normal life with her back home, but it isn’t a place he could ever live in again. He enjoys living on his side of the mountain, in isolation, and only having to go into town for supplies as needed. There is a darkness inside of him, grief from his childhood, which he can’t manage in a place with lots of people. When one of his neighbours comes from the far side of the mountain, he breaks an agreement between them, and is far too interested in Eden than Noah likes! Eden and Noah have managed to start exploring their attraction ad love for each other once again. Noah gets called away to help beat back a wildfire and it makes Eden realises how worried she was for him and didn’t want to lose him. When an event takes place that brings evil and the darkest of moments to the mountain, the two could be separated permanently, through no wish of their own! A quick decision for hope or revenge, brings despair, but ultimately what they deserve. A storyline that starts with a very disturbing action and which could disturb a lot of readers. Noah was never able to let go of his love for Eden and has a very strange way of showing his continuing love for her. There is a lot I liked about this book and the certain part I wasn't as much a fan of. Readers who have sexual assault triggers should be warned that this may set that off.

Noah ran away from everything to go live in isolation, which meant breaking Eden's heart. Even though he's the one who walked away he couldn't forget her to the point he was basically obsessed. When Eden hears Noah is dead and left her his cabin, the last thing she expects is to find him waiting for her.

There are some very questionable interactions when he refuses to let her go and I didn't find him sympathetic enough of a character for me to be alright with it. Once they overcome some hurdles I felt things played out much better, especially when we get outside factors intervening.

Noah and Eden have a history that didn't end well. He left right after high school and didn't stay in touch with Eden. Now years later her mom comes to tell her that she's seen his mother and that Noah has died. That's not the only shock he had left her his cabin in the mountains. Eden goes to see the cabin and get another shock when she finds Noah alive and well. Noah still wants Eden, and his feelings haven't changed. However, she wants nothing to do with him, so he has to find a way to convince her to give him a chance. Will Eden give Noah another chance at her heart?

This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter on. This is a well written and very entertaining story. This is a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Our hero can't stand to be around people, so he moved to the mountains and away from our heroine. When he later lures our heroine to his mountain home, neither of them are prepared for what comes next.

This is book two of the series, but it is written as a standalone.

This is a second chance romance story with a mountain man theme. There are some dark elements as well. The story is well written and easy to read. The characters are well done with solid backgrounds and they clearly have a connection. They also have some issues to work out, like communication (a pet peeve of mine). The story is also a bit angsty for my tastes. That being said, the story is solid and very enjoyable with some interesting twists and turns along the way. Well worth giving it a read.

Recommended.

Mountain Rough is a dark and super steamy romance. Eden is a curvy girl that loved her high school boyfriend Noah. Noah left Chicago to move to the mountains in Idaho breaking Eden's heart. When Eden hears that Noah has died and left his mountain cabin to her she is devastated. She travels to Idaho and is shocked to find that Noah is still alive and very much in love with her. He is a handsome, reclusive, mountain man. He tells her she can't leave and she struggles with same but realizes how much she loves him. In the end we do get a great HEA after some ups and downs. This story has alot of dark elements and could trigger some. It is definitely an erotic romance with lots of hot sex. Loved the chemistry between Eden and Noah. Would recommend.

Eden (h) and Noah (H) secretly dated during their senior year in high school until school ends and Noah up and left. Years later, word comes to Eden that Noah has died and left her his cabin on Thorn Mountain. So, when she goes to visit the cabin, Eden is shocked to find Noah very much alive, and wanting to claim her as his. For some, it might feel a little imprisonment-dubcon at first, but it definitely becomes very hot and steam with lots of passionate action throughout the story. Some big things just felt kind of random with no real background/build up to them - Harper, Amber, Heaven/premonition.

A cabin on Thorn Mountain of Idaho is now Edens only when she gets there she has the surprise of her life.

Wonderful characters and a HEA but I could never figure out why Noah left Chicago.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Eden & Noah. Noah was the one who got away for Eden. So when she learns he has killed himself she just can't handle it. She also learns she has inherited his cabin when she gets there she is in for a real shock. Noah's not dead and he has plans for the only woman he truly wants. Will these two find a HEA or will this just be too much for Eden?

Amazing story. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I’m having a hard time with these books because the writing in the beginning is very immature and not so good. Then mid way it feels like someone else takes over the story and it just takes off. It happened with book 1 and now 2 as well. I can see it has 2 authors but that usually means a collab not literally 2 totally different writing styles and feels from the first to second half.

I believe there’s another book in the series and i want to read it.. yet… don’t because I have to suffer through the beginning awkward story to get to where it gets good.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Noah and Eden and does not let go. He left her, ten years ago, to live in the mountains, but now he knows that he cannot really live without her. How will he be able to bring her to his cabin?

I wasn't expecting that! The first few chapters are a roller-coaster of emotions and the spice! Also please check your trigger warnings! Noah left her, breaking her heart, only for her to hear that he is dead, so she goes to where he was last and she didn't expect to find anything. But she does.

More like two and a half but will round up. This story has everything I normally like - alpha male, obsessed with FMC, dubcon (sorry, not sorry). But this story fell flat. The plot was rushed and not fleshed out properly. Just felt like a book churned out because it’s a familiar and popular storyline.
The MMC reason for leaving the city and faking his death (upsetting his Mum after his sister was murdered years earlier) was flimsy and rather cruel to everyone.

Not for me, unfortunately
