I used this book to help co-lead a ladies study for the elderly. The main problem I had, and that I do run into, with Mrs. George is mostly there can be quite a sense of vagueness in these types of books. Philemon did not need to be several chapters long. Colossians, especially chapter 1, I think could have been broken down into more chapters. That was the most confusing chapter for the ladies in covering the Gospel and what it meant for Christ to be preeminent.

However, these are great studies that allow the leader(s) to expand. They are simple enough that the basics get covered, which is perfect for our group of ladies. I will also add I did some more studying to help understand the ties between Colossians and Philemon, which I wish personally the book touched on a little bit more. But what I gained was seeing similarities and how because Jesus become our identity, and there is neither Jew nor Greek, we also see in the letter Paul pens to Philemon about his runaway servant. Philemon, instead, is encouraged to treat him, not as a servant, but a brother.

Had it not been for this study, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to work on the connection.

Another great Bible study book by Elizabeth George. I especially appreciated studying through Philemon, having not done much studying of that book. These are definitely my favorite Bible study books. They don't use KJV like I prefer, but I can easily use my own Bible.

Clear and concise, and easy to follow along, this study of Colossians and Philemon was an encouragement to me. I liked that the questions gave cross references to look up, and that the author tied these books to Acts and other epistles.

This was a very helpful Bible study. You do a lot of work on your own but I think it helps you really learn the material that way.

Read this in combination with a home bible study group. Our teacher used what was in the book to springboard into even more details and thought provoking discussion.
