Oh wow! This one left me mystified until the last line. I mean literally! Every time I felt I got the most vexed question answered, I was proven wrong. I was left scratching my head again. The author, Chandrayan Gupta, has kept the mystery brewing without making it feel monochromatic. Any new character added to the puzzle, sending the reader on another serpentine chase.

Although this book is about a serial killer, it hooked me at a human level with its emotional connotation. The relationship between Abhik and Lipi is twisted and yet astonishingly simplistic. It highlights the basic sentiment of trust and how it can be so difficult when it comes to doing so.

The author's gleaming writing style is flawless. The intricate sentences with sound play of words made this story even more powerful and mysterious. The narrative borders on fantasy when Abhik explores his inner turmoil. His character has so many layers with intrapersonal complexities. And yet he was simply an ordinary son to his ordinary mother.

I found the schizophrenic disorder with Abhik as one of the brilliantly portrayed one. I've read many books honing on this insanity but none like Motherson. Abhik's disturbed mind and his conscious guilt when he realizes his neurosis is lucid. I highly recommend this shuddering story to anyone that takes interest in psychological thrillers.

Very interesting novel..

How can you do justice to a great book in just a few words? The writer presents this book with a finesse only a talented person possibly could do. With an unapologetically realistic delivery packed with emotion, this story is a crucially important portrayal of the difficulties a person goes through whether it's with society, relationships, emotions, or loneliness but dealing with it the way it is.

As the cover of the novel plus the title hint, it's definitely about a mother and a son. Here the entire tale is communicated by the son. Abhik stayed with his widowed mother who was the only earning and struggling member of the family, and a private person who loved isolation. She even pushed back her son and enclosed herself in a shell after she lost her husband. But Abhik who always craved her warmth, loved her purely.

Moving ahead, the character of Abhik is something that is not normal. Intense loneliness, and distrust because of the murders going around. As soon as the readers start connecting with the lead, many thoughts might run across.

Many other secondary characters also play a significant role especially Tapi, who is always there to calm Abhik down.
Many interesting turns hit the novel that is strong enough to evoke readers interest. I liked the way the entire confronting scene was presented, and one shocking point, that changes the entire direction of the storyline.

Later pages disclose the killer. This part was quite engrossing as to know who and what was the reason for Paranshree's killer. The mental issues, the emotional turmoil, the anger, the frustration the heart-to-heart aches make this story great.

Why was Abhik suffering from panic attacks is a series of breathtaking questions that only reading this novel can answer. I found the tantalizing narrative extremely engrossing. Along with a powerful storyline, the writer has kept the essence of the novel intact till the final page.

Review:
If anyone ask me what this book is about- I would say it is about the most dysfunctional family, I've ever read and the secrets all the family members hiding with a serial murder mystery.

Yes, the book is about a most dysfunctional family, a family where from son to mother to sister to father, even the aunt is not reliable. They lies in their every conversation. And not only just that they all suffering from various mental illness. And most unreliable one is our main protagonist, Abhik, the book is written in his pov, but not for a single time you'll support him here.

Let me explain what's the story is - the story is of Abhik's suspicion of his mother being the despicable serial killer that has struck the neighborhood. A mother with whom he share a special connection, but at the same time has withdrawn relationship. And while he tries to unfold the mysteries, he come upon a lot of secrets of his own family.

I don't know how I explain that I love the book at the same time hate it, how many times I want to throw the book as well as get angry on our protagonist, but there's time I also just want to hug him, give him support.

And for the plot, at times it predictable, but then it's not. And I still can't believe the author ended the book that way. I mean, how after all of these suffering, he still ends it like that?? But I agree it's perfect for the book.

So if you want a good psychological thriller book, then definitely read this one.

The story revolves around Abhik and his mother Lipi. It was a one of its kind thriller and I have to admit it was a wild ride. It is not your average whodunit or cat-mouse chase. It a unique thriller in which your suspicion will betray you from time to time.

Abhik's life runs into turmoil once he discovers a bloodied knife belonging to his mother in his house around the same time that the first Parnasree murder took place. He goes on a quest to find the murder. All the time his inner conflict bothers him. He's not sure whether his mother is innocent but he is out to prove so. The constant conflict is accompanied by Abhik's own weaknesses and imagination. Abhik struggles to differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. He struggles to differentiate between the truth and deceit. Will Abhik find the murderer? Will he find his true motive?
You need to read to find out further.

Overall I loved the book but it was a very challenging read as the plot is not so straightforward like most modern thrillers. The main plot is accompanied by several other mini accounts and stories. I would give the author 10/10 for character development. How the author confuses the reader and plays with our heads is the main highlight of this book. The reader can never guess what's coming next. However, my major disappointment lies in the fact that despite so much confrontation and build-up what the author may be trying to achieve may have missed the target. There are a lot of questions this book leaves unanswered at the very end. Unless the author is planning a sequel very soon, I can't help but deduct my score of the book. The execution could have been a lot better as the book looked very promising till the end.

When teenager Abhik Burman finds a bloodied knife hidden in the house he shares with his estranged mother Lipi Burman, suspicion arises within him about his mother and her connection to the serial killer victimizing their neighborhood. As Abhik begins to unfold the mystery surrounding the serial killer, he is faced with secrets of the past that threaten to crumble everything that he has ever believed in.

Hidden behind layers of mystery, the book narrates the story of a dysfunctional family where almost every person is suffering from different mental health issues. Each person in this story has their dark secrets and lying and deceiving are their second nature. The book questions the love and trust between a mother and a son. Narrated from Abhik's perspective who was also suffering from mental health issues, as a reader it's very difficult not to put him on the suspect list too.

With an ample amount of twists and turns, the book is a nail-biting and gripping read. To be frank, I feel all the characters were a bit twisted in their own way and needed psychiatric help. The author had done a commendable job of bringing these twisted characters to life. Also, the twists and turns will have you second-guessing and suspecting every character for the killer.

One scene I adored is when Abhik tried to reconcile with his sister even when he thought she has tried to poison him. Irrespective of his previous hatred he tried fixing his relationship with her and despite all, he loved and cared for her.

I feel a good thriller is one where you can confuse the reader keeping the suspicion till the end and the author has managed to do just that. However, I was disappointed with the abrupt ending of the book and felt that it could have been better. Overall I loved the book and would recommend it to thriller lovers.

The story's strength lies in its exploration of complex family dynamics, where fractured relationships and hidden truths drive the suspenseful plot forward. Looking at the title of the book, it looks like a contemporary fiction about a mother and her son but it's a thriller. I was tempted to read it with its blurb.

Abhik's father has been dead for many years and his mother, Lipi Burman, has been distant from him since then. They have grown apart because of Lipi's continuous busy schedule at work. Then, some murders start happening in their area. One day, Abhik saw a bloodied knife in their kitchen which leads him to believe that his mother is the killer. However, there was no concrete evidence and so he started to investigate.

I would like to mention a scene from the book where Lipi comes to Abhik's room and apologizes to him for getting distant from him when he needed her the most after his father's death. Both mother and son are not the type of people who open up to their loved ones and can share their feelings but I liked Lipi's frank behaviour towards her son. Abhik also couldn't believe his mother would attempt to reconcile their relationship and from that day, the conversation between them improved in later parts.

Here, the character of Abhik is described as mentally unstable. The story is written in the first pov so his thoughts and dreams are mentioned in detail which sometimes become overwhelming to read. His mother seems like a genuine character because she is trying and putting effort into making their relationship better.

Overall, this was an interesting read though Abhik's thoughts could have been shortened. The language is easy to understand. The characters are finely written and built. I felt at some points, the story was unnecessarily extended. But it was a great experience to read this book. It's recommended for thriller readers.

Ever find yourself caught in a web of suspense, where every clue makes you question everything you thought you knew? That’s exactly what Chandrayan Gupta’s "Motherson: A Domestic Psychological Thriller" does. Gupta, a fresh voice in the thriller genre, hooks you from the first page with a story that’s as much about the complexity of human relationships as it is about catching a killer.

The book is set in the quiet neighbourhood of Parnasree in Kolkata, where teenager Abhik Burman lives with his estranged mother, Lipi. When Abhik discovers a bloody knife in their house, right around the time a series of murders rocks their neighbourhood, his world is turned upside down. Is his own mother the serial killer? Abhik’s quest to uncover the truth is a gripping journey of suspicion, doubt, and unexpected revelations. What sets this story apart is the constant tug-of-war between Abhik’s heart and the mounting evidence against his mother. It’s not your typical whodunit—it's a psychological thriller that keeps you on edge.

Gupta’s writing is a breath of fresh air. His prose is both subtle and intense, beautifully capturing the emotional landscape of his characters and the atmospheric streets of Kolkata. The narrative often blurs the lines between reality and Abhik’s inner turmoil, making you question what’s real and what’s imagined. It’s a style that keeps you deeply engaged and always guessing.

The characters in "Motherson" are incredibly well-developed. Abhik is a relatable protagonist, torn between his love for his mother and his fear of what she might have done. Lipi is enigmatic and complex, making it hard to pin down her true nature. The supporting characters, like Abhik’s friends Babul and Taima, and his aunt Tapi, add depth and richness to the story. Gupta’s exploration of schizophrenia, childhood trauma, and dysfunctional family dynamics is handled with great sensitivity, adding layers of meaning and making the characters’ struggles feel very real.

The plot is intricate and multi-layered, with several subplots that enrich the main story. The pacing is deliberate, building tension with each chapter. Gupta’s well-timed plot twists ensure that the reader remains hooked from start to finish. The book’s structure, with its interwoven narratives, might seem challenging at first, but it ultimately adds to the richness of the reading experience.

"Motherson" digs deep into themes of trust, betrayal, and the fragility of family bonds. It explores how childhood trauma can shape one’s psyche and how mental illness is often misunderstood. The book also touches on societal constraints and the complexities of human emotions, making it a thought-provoking read that resonates on many levels.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster. Abhik’s journey, filled with anxiety and moments of panic, is heart-wrenching. The scenes where Abhik grapples with his suspicions about his mother are particularly poignant. Gupta’s exploration of mental illness is both moving and enlightening, adding a layer of empathy to the thriller.

One of the book’s biggest strengths is its character development. Gupta excels at creating complex, believable characters. The vivid descriptions of Kolkata and the psychological depth of the narrative also stand out. Gupta’s ability to keep the reader guessing until the last page is commendable.

While the book is engaging, it does leave some questions unanswered. The ending feels a bit rushed, and some plot threads could have been tied up more neatly. If Gupta is planning a sequel, these loose ends might be addressed, but as a standalone, the resolution feels somewhat incomplete.

"Motherson" resonated with me on many levels. As a fan of psychological thrillers, I found the exploration of mental illness particularly compelling. Gupta’s portrayal of Abhik’s internal struggles and the strained relationship with his mother added a layer of depth that is often missing in thrillers. However, the unresolved questions at the end left me wanting more closure.

Overall, "Motherson: A Domestic Psychological Thriller" is a gripping, emotionally charged read. Gupta’s skillful storytelling and complex characters make it a standout in the genre. Despite some minor flaws, the book is a testament to Gupta’s talent and potential. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thriller that delves into the human psyche with sensitivity and insight. Here’s hoping for a sequel that answers the lingering questions and continues the story of Abhik and Lipi.

"Motherson" written by Chandrayan Gupta is a captivating psychological thriller that plunges readers into the dark depths of a quiet Kolkata neighborhood, shaken by the presence of a brutal serial killer. The narrative centers around Abhik Burman, a teenager who stumbles upon a bloody knife in the home he shares with his estranged mother, Lipi. What follows is a gripping investigation that unravels a plot spanning generations and exposes a family fundamentally fractured.

The author skillfully weaves a tale of suspense and uncertainty, using Abhik's internal turmoil as the driving force behind the plot. As he races against time to uncover irrefutable evidence against his mother, Lipi, the story takes unexpected twists and turns. The complexity of the characters is portrayed with nuance, leaving readers questioning the true nature of each person involved in this chilling drama.

Abhik's dilemma becomes the heart of the narrative - should he trust his mother's seemingly innocuous explanations, or follow the mounting evidence that suggests her involvement in the gruesome crimes? The exploration of trust, loyalty, and the fine line between love and suspicion adds layers of psychological depth to the story. The consequences of Abhik's decision, whatever it may be, loom ominously, promising a dire outcome.

The scene that stood out for me was from the chapter titled “Fury” which occurred on December 16, 2019, at 9:34 pm wherein the protagonist was in an introspective mode and was filled with a wild mosaic of emotions ranging from sadness, joy, frustration, and elation. Then as soon as the house is discovered based on the instructions meticulously given by Tapi, the black metal door of the house is ajar. Shivers ran down the spine and goosebumps crystalized on the protagonist's limbs on entering the house.

The pacing of "Motherson" is relentless, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as the investigation unfolds. The author masterfully builds tension and suspense, delivering a story that is as emotionally charged as it is intellectually stimulating. The final revelation is a testament to the intricacies of the human psyche, leaving readers with lingering questions about the nature of trust and the complexities of familial bonds.

In "Motherson", Chandrayan Gupta crafts a compelling narrative that transcends the boundaries of a typical thriller. The exploration of family dynamics, the fragility of trust, and the impact of generational secrets elevates this book to a thought-provoking and immersive experience. Fans of psychological mysteries will find themselves captivated by the intricate plot and haunted by its lingering implications long after the final page is turned.

☕️Motherson takes you on a chilling descent into the murky depths of familial darkness, where the line between love and suspicion blurs beyond recognition. In this Kolkata-set psychological crime thriller, author masterfully crafts a narrative that is equal parts unsettling and heartbreaking.

The story hinges on Abhik, a teenager grappling with the fallout of his family problems. Finding a bloody knife hidden in his shared home with his estranged mother, Lipi, sets off a chain reaction of doubt and paranoia. As Abhik delves deeper, he stumbles upon a web of secrets and hidden truths that span generations, casting a chilling shadow over his family's fractured past.

Lipi, the enigmatic center of the storm, is a character that will keep you guessing till the very end. Is she a cold-blooded killer hiding in plain sight, or a victim of circumstance caught in a twisted web of lies? The tale brilliantly navigates the emotional tightrope of portraying a mother Abhik both loves and fears, leaving the reader constantly questioning her motives and actions.

The investigation itself is a slow-burning affair, fueled by Abhik's desperate attempt to uncover the truth. Each clue he unearths feels like a piece of a horrifying puzzle, slowly revealing a picture of a family fractured by trauma and deception. The tension mounts steadily, culminating in a climax that is both shocking and emotionally resonant.

Motherson excels in its exploration of the complex dynamics of family and trust. Witnessing Abhik's internal struggle to reconcile his love for his mother with the mounting evidence against her is nothing short of agonizing. The novel delves into themes of mental illness, generational trauma, and the devastating consequences of betrayal, leaving a lasting impact on the reader.

While the narrative is predominantly Abhik's, glimpses into other characters' perspectives add depth and nuance to the story. The Kolkata setting is vividly depicted, its bustling streets and quiet alleyways serving as a backdrop for the unfolding drama. Motherson is not for the faint of heart. It is a dark and unsettling tale that will keep you glued to the pages, desperate to unravel the truth. But beyond the chills and thrills, it is a poignant exploration of family, trust, and the lengths we go to protect those we love, even when they become the source of our greatest fear.

I will definitely recommend it!

"MOTHERSON" is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into the depths of a dysfunctional family's secrets while unraveling a chilling serial murder mystery in the backdrop of Kolkata. The story revolves around Abhik Burman, a teenager, who suspects his own mother, Lipi, of being involved in a series of gruesome murders in their neighborhood. As Abhik embarks on a quest to uncover the truth, he is forced to confront not only his suspicions but also the intricate web of family secrets that surround him.

🟤In "Motherson" by Chandrayan Gupta, readers are taken on a suspenseful journey through the streets of Parnasree, south of Kolkata, where a serial killer is on the loose. The protagonist, Abhik, grapples with a distant relationship with his mother, Lipi, ever since his father's passing. As the chilling events unfold, Abhik becomes convinced that his own mother may be the elusive murderer.

🟤The author skillfully weaves a narrative that not only explores the hunt for the serial killer but also delves into the complexities of family dynamics. At the heart of the story is the strained relationship between Abhik and Lipi, punctuated by a poignant scene where Lipi attempts to mend the rift between them. The book also introduces Abhik's support system—his friend Babul and girlfriend Taima—who become pillars of strength as he embarks on his investigation.

🟤The novel, however, is not without its flaws. The pacing feels stretched and slow, with the narrative lacking a cohesive structure. The absence of a table of contents, particularly for e-book readers, proves to be a minor but inconvenient drawback. Emotions run high throughout the book, with Abhik's feelings towards his mother and friends fluctuating abruptly. While this adds complexity to the characters, a more nuanced portrayal could have enhanced the overall impact.

🟤One notable aspect is the author's decision to leave the readers on a cliffhanger at the end, particularly concerning the unresolved mystery of the serial killings. While this creates anticipation for a potential sequel, some may find it leaves them wanting more closure.

🟤In conclusion, "Motherson" is a gripping tale that successfully blends suspense with a deep exploration of familial relationships. Gupta's characters are multi-dimensional, though the narrative could benefit from a more tightly-knit structure and nuanced emotional development. Despite its shortcomings, the novel remains a compelling read that keeps readers engaged until the very end.

Favorite Quote: "They say they want advice, but in reality all they want is for you to say what they desire to hear. And even after you go out of your way to help them, even after you get emotionally attached and expend your own energy, they do what they want anyway."

Motherson is a dark psychological thriller delving deep into the depths of human psyche. Combining mystery and thrill, this story takes the readers on a ride through mind-bending reality.

The story revolves around Abhik and his mother Lipi. Abhik and Lipi share a complicated relationship. While the mother-son duo are estranged after his father’s death, Abhik still loves her mother a lot. Things take a sinister turn when a brutal serial killer strikes their quiet locality killing their neighbour. When Abhik finds a bloody knife hidden in the house, he begins to suspect her. As more people are killed, Abhik races to find irrefutable evidence against his mother, he discovers several dark secrets involving his family. Will Abhik keep pursuing his suspicions or will his love for his mother triumph?

Right from the start, the story is a dark intense read, unlike anything you have read before. Blending drama and suspense, the story keeps you on the edge throughout. Blurring the lines between truth and illusion, the story keeps you guessing on what’s real and what’s a figment of Abhik’s imagination. There are so many layers to the story; from Abhik’s mental trauma to his dysfunctional family, with each layer adding an element of mystery to the story. The book has an dark haunting vibe throughout the book creating a sense of dread of what’s coming up next. You feel pulled in by Abhik’s narrative but you can’t keep wondering if it’s all true or not. The several twists and turns keep you hooked till the end.

The characters are really well crafted; especially Abhik. Abhik being an unreliable narrator, adds to the suspense and each new relevation adds to the intrigue. Abhik's character; a complex reflection of his mental trauma, broken relationships, moral dilemma and paranoia, is a fascinating read. The story may be a bit difficult to get into at the start but once you do it's a thrill ride.

Overall, Motherson is a gripping read from start to finish making you think and question your own judgement. A great read for the fans of psychological thriller genre.

As I first took a glance "Motherson" it looked like a sweet parent - child story. Little did I know that my perception is going to be changed forever. It beautifully dives into the nuances of a fractured family and the haunting secrets that threaten to tear them apart.

Set against the backdrop of a quiet neighborhood in Kolkata, the novel opens with a chilling discovery by teenager Abhik Burman: a bloody knife hidden within the confines of his home, shared only with his estranged mother, Lipi. Abhik's father has been long dead and the mental proximity of Abhik and Lipi also declined as Lipi completely stuffed herself into a workaholic schedule! The adrenalizing narrative compels the readers to remain glued to the pages and a constant fluctuation of emotions can be felt directly into the veins!

As Abhik delves deeper into the mystery surrounding the gruesome murders plaguing their community, he finds himself torn between conflicting loyalties. On one hand, there's the undeniable evidence pointing towards his mother's involvement in the crimes. On the other hand, there's the lingering hope that she could be innocent, despite the mounting suspicions.

Here, the character of Abhik is described as mentally unstable. A schizophrenic angle is unleashed on the sketch of the protagonist and the moment he realizes that all the nodes of his vision aren't essentially the truth, a paradigm shift occurs. Most importantly, his mother is framed to be a genuine character who's trying and putting effort into making their relationship better.

"Motherson" is more than just a suspenseful thriller—it's a thought-provoking exploration of the lengths one will go to protect their loved ones, and the devastating consequences of uncovering buried secrets. With its richly drawn characters and atmospheric setting, this novel is sure to leave a lasting impression on readers long after they've turned the last page.

How many trials and tribulations can a relationship go through, especially between a mother and her son?

This Psychological thriller is Multilayered. It is set in Kolkata where a cruel serial killer is on the loose.

Abhik, a teenager living with his estranged mother Lipi, finds a bloody knife in their home and begins to suspect her. As Abhik investigates, Lipi provides innocent explanations for the clues but whichever choice he makes, there will be serious consequences.

Elements of Schizophrenia, Childhood Trauma, and Dysfunctional family dynamics were articulately placed in the storyline.

The story ahead is a Labyrinth of events that will make you question every character like Lipi, her husband Arjun, her daughter Astra, and even her sister Tapi. These characters were Grey, Flawed and this is the reality of our society.

Abhik, the main character, experiences many hardships throughout his journey. There are a lot of episodes where the characters have anxiety, mental illness, and panic attacks.
In one specific instance, Abhik has a panic attack and Tapi guides him step by step to overcome it.
It shows the author has done good research on such sensitive topics.

Simultaneously, the unwavering support of friends like Babul and Taima reaffirms your belief in the power of love.

What amazed me was how the Author addressed very complex feelings that are usually disregarded due to Societal constraints.

Though it seems a little dragged, the author compensated that with an astonishing second half.

Every character is very well portrayed. The narration is fast-paced without missing the grip of the story. The locations, characters, and personalities are all described in great detail.
The language and writing style is very subtle, which does complete justice to this story.
Read this to find out the answers of this thriller novel.

Motherson by Chandrayan Gupta is one of those thrillers which will not let you sleep unless you finish it. That's just how good the whole story is, except the ending. But we will come back to that later.

I remember reading Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. One part or rather I should say one quote that specifically struck out to me is this-

' “There are all kinds of courage," said Dumbledore, smiling. "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” '

Courage and fear or rather I should say the percepted courage is what makes for the driving force for this particular plot.

Familial psychological thrillers have a different kind of thrill and suspense and an ability to induce an entirely different kind creep within you and this book has mastered that particular art I swear.

We have a narrator, Abhik, who within the first two pages of the book makes it very clear that he knows that his mother has pushed him away. Thenplot opens up with our narrator and his mother at a funeral and one can observe the pessimistic nature of Abhik from the very first sentence.

All of it changes when he finds a bloodied knife of his mother's and that's where he starts to collect information to prove her guilty or maybe innocent. Which isn't very clear at first, be we realise as the pages turn that all of the characters are just lying to each other and suffer from a mental disease each.

The fact that no one character is reliable is what makes this a great good read.

But a bit disappointed with the ending. I think that could have been a bit more better.

Will recommend it to all thriller genre lovers out there. Just rest it y'all.

"Motherson" by Chandrayan Gupta is a gripping psychological thriller that takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of suspense, mistrust, and family secrets. The story's central conflict revolves around Abhik Burman, a teenager who stumbles upon a bloody knife in his home, leading him to suspect his own mother, Lipi, as a brutal serial killer. Gupta masterfully weaves a narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats, craving answers.

The novel excels in character development, with Abhik being a complex protagonist torn between his love for his mother and the mounting evidence against her. Gupta delves deep into Abhik's internal struggle, making his dilemma feel palpable and relatable. Lipi, too, is a well-crafted character, with her innocent explanations leaving readers constantly questioning her guilt or innocence.

The plot unfolds with meticulous pacing, gradually revealing clues that ratchet up the tension. Gupta's prose is evocative and immersive, painting a vivid picture of Kolkata and the eerie atmosphere of the quiet neighborhood. The generational plot twist adds depth and complexity to the story, keeping readers guessing until the final pages.

However, the novel could benefit from slightly tighter editing, as some descriptions and dialogues, while well-written, may feel slightly drawn out. Additionally, the resolution, while satisfying, might leave some readers craving a more shocking twist.

In conclusion, "Motherson" is a thought-provoking thriller that explores the intricate dynamics of trust, family, and deception. Chandrayan Gupta's skillful storytelling makes this book a compelling read for anyone who enjoys a suspenseful and emotionally charged narrative.

"Motherson" by Chandrayan Gupta is an astonishing crime thriller that keeps you on your heels with every page. The first glimpse of the book, to put it in simple words, is a lovely relationship between a son and his widowed mother. Their bond is inseparable and emotional. But after a few pages, the plot started thickening with every minute.

Abhik is just a teenager and the serial killer angle is just mind-blowing. Readers are going to suspect everyone in the plot and that's the real fun. It takes you on a roller coaster ride of mystery and suspense. One after the other the author gives us secrets and when beans are spilled out it feels like a storm. There are so many sharp twists and turns which are going to blow your mind away.

I am reading Chandrayan Gupta's work for the very first time and the author has done a commendable job. His writing style is precise, fast, and wonderful. I have read his work on Medium also. It is fascinating to read the works of such a young and talented author.

If someone asks me about my favorite part, then I think it would be nearly impossible. But there was a scene of Abhik discovering a bloodied knife in his house that was so all of a sudden and unexpected, and I just loved the tension it created in my mind.

The book is a perfect one for those who are looking for something exciting to read. The plot creates an absorbing atmosphere around you while reading. Compelling narratives and interesting characters make this book one of the best that I have read this year. I would love to read his upcoming works. I am a thriller lover and I think his coming books will be on my tbr. The book deserves 5 stars and a full recommendation from me.
