*ARC received from author in exchange for my honest review. *

Alexandra has given me spice, emotion and all the feels but she kicked Traitors We Trusted up a couple of notches. The raw emotion Oliver was feeling from being betrayed by people he thought he could trust. Then Buck, that sinfully sweet man just wanted to find his mate. His person. The one he was destined for.

Oliver an eagle shifter who left him after being betrayed has found solace in the one man he can never have but just being able to watch him work comforts something in Oliver. It helps get him out of the darkness and on the path to a life he has always wanted to live.

Buck has been hoping for the mate bond to show up between him and his girlfriend, but it hasn't yet. He believes that in time it will but there is something on the edge of his conscious that is calling him to something more. A feeling of home.

After a chance meeting Buck and Oliver find themselves in each other's presence more and more but will Oliver have the courage to trust someone new? And will Buck be able to convince his Ollie that he would never harm him?

Alexandra Christine's stories always make me feel good. While the journey to feeling good might be emotional it is always worth it. I think Buck and Ollie might have won my heart over a bit more than the previous characters, but I love them all regardless. I can't wait to see what is up next in the Season of Shifters series.

2.5 rounded up

Le sigh…. So I enjoyed the premise and plot of the book but the whole time reading it I felt like a was being hosed down with so much information so fast that I got a bit of whiplash.

I loved that they were each other’s light and there were many quotes that are super uplifting and great.

It’s pretty hard to write a balanced novella that covers everything and doesn’t feel rushed. I definitely felt like the story was rushed, there was SOOOO much happening in 93 pages.

I don’t know why the betrayal happened or why they decided to show up at the end, other than a conflict was necessary to continue the story line and then close it.

For what it was, an entertaining story, it was good albeit forgettable.

This was a really quick, easy, and cute read. I received an ARC from this author and I wish I would have started with the first book in this series because my heart instantly wanted to know more about the friend group/found family.

This story starts off with Oliver running away from home due to some personal family issues. Being the eagle shifter he is, he took to the sky and decided to never shift back into his human for many years. During this time in the sky, he found himself fascinated by this lion shifter, Buck, down below and decided to look over him. When Oliver is ready to shift back into his human for, his and Buck lives crossed paths just to find out they were the answer to each other prayers.

This story was really cute and sweet to me. I was a little confused with the timeline of the story in some areas but it didn't take away from the love story being told. My heart ached for the drama and exile Olivier went through with his family and the mistreatment Buck endured with his lover. These two really healed a broken part in each other and I was so happy at the end when they found finally got their HEA. They deserve it.

This little novella is my first by author Alexandra Christine. It was pretty steamy, hello knotting and a secret dominant streak. It was also sweet. Oliver has spent the majority of his life being mistreated by the people who were supposed to love him. It isn't until he meets Buck, a surprisingly kind and caring lion shifter, that he finds out what it's like to be loved unconditionally.

There's a reason Oliver's heart feels like breaking when he sees Buck, an unknown shifter at the time, with his long time girlfriend. There's also a reason why Buck, who is desperate to form a mate bond, can't seem to form one with said girlfriend. Fate has someone else in store for Buck and it isn't long after meeting Oliver that he realizes it. I loved how welcoming and loving Buck and his family were with Oliver. It was about time he felt the love of a family. Their open arms welcome also helped go a long way with Oliver's confidence in himself and the clothing he preferred to wear. It was great seeing him blossom into who he was meant to be. It was also great seeing Buck settled as well, and I have no doubt these two will spend their time happy with their mating.

This was a fast-paced, spicy and super sweet shifter romance that was packed with all kinds of emotions. It's a quick read that will warm your heart.

The pain and hurt that Oliver goes through pulled on my heartstrings and made me want to reach in and give him a hug. Buck was the perfect match for Oliver, although it takes them quite a bit to figure this out. I loved their instant love for each other and the way that both Buck and Oliver wanted to protect the other from harm. My heart just soared for these two.

This was a new author to me, and I definitely want to keep reading her stories.

I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!

Oliver is just so damn adorable I can’t get enough and Buck is just *chefs kiss* 😮‍💨🤌🏽. Alexandra has done it again! This might just be my favorite book from the series so far. I absolutely adored Oliver and Buck and how perfect they were for each other. Oliver went through a rough time and Buck was his safe space and when he finally opened up I was so freaking proud of him! I also loved seeing the past characters make an appearance. I can’t wait to see what else Alexandra has in store for us!

*P.S. THAT COVER!?! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING 😍

💖 “I was wilting in darkness. You brought me the light I needed to bloom.”
~~~
All Oliver wants is to be accepted and be a part of a loving family. But his own family has hurt him so deeply and made him feel unlovable, different and unworthy. Despite everything he’s been through, Ollie is the sweetest, gentlest, kindest and most caring male and I loved him so much!
Buck is one huge, strong, dominant and fiercely protective male. Even more, he might be intimidating on the outside, but he’s the sweetest softie on the inside. I adored everything about this fierce lion shifter!
The development of Ollie and Buck’s relationship was so beautiful! Ollie’s so heartbroken but he just needs the right person to help him crawl out of the darkness. And Buck was the right male for the job. I adored those two together! They were so supportive and protective of one another. And together, Ollie and Buck could finally be accepted and be their true and best selves. Even more, when they finally gave in to their untenable attraction, the passion they shared was scorching hot. Oliver and Buck were so perfect for each other and I loved every step of their journey towards happiness and love.
In addition, I really loved Romeo and Buck’s parents, too. They were so accepting, loving and supportive.
Overall, Traitors We Trusted is a short, sweet and beautiful story proving that the right one will love you exactly as you are.
I love it!
Thank you Alex for the ARC!
“Always own who you are. Even when people are trying to drag you down and make you feel like you’re not worthy, remember who you are. There is only one of you and this world is lucky to have you. You are brave. You are beautiful. You are alive.”
This is the third book in Season of Shifters stand-alone series. Not only was this book incredibly cute and sweet and smoking hot, it dealt with some topics that hit home. There are topics around worthiness, shame, and abuse from partners and family. So much strength and love in such a short book, I adored it.
MM romances that handle the torment of finding oneself and accepting who you are with self love are always favorites of mine. That deep search for someone to understand you is heartbreaking but incredible. Oliver and Buck are perfect.
I may not have read the first two books in this series but I’m making that a priority. This book was too cute it had me doing the “oh my god I need to squeeze something” so cute motions. & it has some 🥵🥵🥵 scenes that were glorious.
Honest ARC review: This short novella was sweet with a bit of spice. Buck is a sweetie and has been dating his girlfriend for a couple years. Despite dating and living together they have not become mates. When Buck notices an eagle shifter outside his home he feels a connection but is unsure what it means. Oliver is sweat and shy but he has been through a lot. His family does not accept him and his first and only boyfriend shamed him. He can’t help but be drawn by Buck and continues to watch him. When things between Buck and His girlfriend go south he is able to fully give in to his connection with Oliver. I would have loved it to be longer so that we could get more depth. I think if there was more about both Buck and Oliver’s life than their connection and relationship would have been more believable. This was a nice short read about being brave and letting the world see the real you.
4.5⭐️
I absolutely loved this book! It was a fast paced, emotion filled and smutty read. Once I started I couldnt put it down!
Sweet Oliver, an eagle shifter. He had such a hard life growing up hiding who he really is. And was betrayed by the ones who should love him unconditionally. My heart broke for this sweet boy. All he wanted was to be accepted and loved.
And Buck a bossy lion shifter, he wants a mating bond to form with his girlfriend but something isnt adding up when he cannot get his mind off his eagle stalker.
I loved these two together! The spice was on point, the heartfelt moments were absolutely perfect. I cannot wait to see what else Alexandra has in store for this world! Thank you so much for the ARC
Another shifter story! Traitors We Trusted by Alexandra Christine was a quick, fun read! I haven’t read the first two novellas in the series, however, this could be read as a stand-alone without any missed plot details. ❤️
Oliver and Buck were very sweet together. Since this is a novella, there wasn’t a huge build up to their romance, but it still felt natural, and was spicy! I liked how there was history between the two due to Oliver watching Buck for years in his eagle form. Made the insta-connection more enjoyable! ❤️🌈
Overall, enjoyable read and I hope to see more people enjoying Alexandra’s books!
Wow! This book broke my heart and then put it back together. I think this was the most heartbreaking story of the series so far. This is a story with self discovery, self love, self acceptance and becoming comfortable in your own skin and finding a family who will love you for who you are. The raw emotion we get from Oliver was so sad.
Buck! The sinfully sweet lion shifter who is so in love with Oliver. He’s the sweetest! He’s never felt a connection this strong with someone before. I love that
I’m so happy Oliver found someone as amazing as Buck.
SUCH AN AMAZING BOOK! Alex literally writes pure gold😏
Alexandra has done it again with yet another super sweet and very spicy mm shifter romance. Like her others in this series, this book was full of so many emotions. Each character being hurt in their own way.
I love how deep and unique these characters are. Bringing to life real life issues that are solved by understanding and love. Oliver and Buck’s relationship was fated and they both found what they needed in each other.
I enjoyed seeing the characters from past books as well. All of them adding and extending their found families. I can’t wait for more in this series.
First if your a person who judges a book by its cover you'll miss out.
read this!
(I love this cover)
This mm novella
Had not only spice but depth and the characters were so raw and vulnerable. The emotions in this story I felt on a beautiful level.
Buck and Ollie were lost and not living to their fullest self and it took meeting each other to realize that and overcome the obstacles society and the obstacles placed on themselves to move past them.
This book was refreshing in a way I didn't know i needed.
Sweet Oliver was broken hearted and all alone when he saw a man he couldn’t stop watching. He watched him for six years in his eagle form.
Buck’s a lion shifter just trying to find his fates mated but he doesn’t seem to be happening with his girlfriend but he’s drawn to the eagle who watches him.
What will happen when Buck finally confronted the Eagle and demanded to know who it is?
This book was sweet, spicy, and so encouraging for everyone finding their selves! I love this whole series. ❤️
"I was wilting in darkness. You brought me the light I needed to bloom."
Traitors We Trusted is the third installment in Season of Shifters standalone series and my first book by the author.
There is only one of you and this world is lucky to have you.
This was a pretty fast paced read and I absolutely adored Oliver and Buck and how they matched each other. I loved how sweet and pure their bond was and how they found love and acceptance with each other. The side characters made the whole story even better and I cannot wait to start the first two books in the series.
wow I loved this one! so sweet & cute. I loved that this one didn’t jump right into it & had a lot of build to them finding more. Buck is so sweet yet demanding & rough & bossy (we love a bossy man), he just wanted to find his person like his parents & maybe it took a min, but swoon.
& oliver, oh sweet baby Oliver. I loved the emotion & his heart. he was so sweet even while he had been hurt in so many ways. it was nice seeing him be built back up because of him himself & the people around him. the dynamic in this one was definitely different, but i loved it. all around a very sweet romance, quick & that ending left a lot of unanswered questions that I can’t wait to dig into it.
thank you Alexandra for the arc!!
This book was fantastic! I love the depth and raw emotion that can be felt like a living, breathing entity throughout the story. Even more so, I love the dynamic between Oliver and Buck. There is just so much love, acceptance and compassion between them. You can feel the tether pulling them together from the very beginning, and once they are come together…just magic! Such a beautiful story!
Poor Oliver has a traumatic/emotional past!!! He definitely is not the same guy he was at the age of 18. With the help from Buck he can finally be who he wants to be! I absolutely loved that they both didn’t give up hope and are so much stronger together.
Sweet and spicy! I enjoyed this novella. In this book, we follow Oliver and Buck on their journey. Oliver is a very standoffish, nervous nelly but the relationship between the two grows into something beautiful. Oliver’s been betrayed by the very people supposed to love and care for him, and it makes for a scared, lonely man. The growth they each experience separately is wonderful to see, along with the relationship development between the two. I love watching Buck help Oliver to start to come out of his shell, to begin to really become the person he was meant to be. Buck’s path is also hard, as he is in a committed relationship already. The path to self-discovery is never easy but these two work so well together to bring out the best in each other. The characters are gritty and raw, struggling with their identities. It is a short story, but I wish there was more. It was really good. I look forward to seeing what Alexandra comes out with next!
This beautiful, soulful novella hits the right spots.
Sweet is an understatement of a word when it comes to Buck and Ollie, my lion and eagle babies.
I absolutely loved it. Ollie just captured my heart in an instant. I'd protect him at all costs and thank heavens for Buck being amazing to him.
I relate so much to the story of acceptance. Also the betrayal part. I guess we've all been let down by the ppl we love at some point and it's just a necessary heart break to find that "light" as Ollie said.
Oliver is a canvas, a colorful and pure soul and he deserved that hea. And daddy Buck yes pls protect and dominate. Such a teddy bear!
❝ “I want to be by your side, to be your strength, someone to fall on in your weak moments. No matter how many times you crumble, I’ll be there to pick up the pieces.” ❞
Buck and Oliver's story was fast, sweet, and a little steamy. They are both the most precious beans and I'm happy that they found each other. A pleasant addition to this wholesome shifter novella series.
