Silverdale Wolves #1

Alpha’s Mate

Rate this book
He’s hot. He’s determined to be the next Alpha. And he just rejected me as his mate.

I’m a traitor’s daughter, so I can never be the Alpha’s mate.
But how can he deny our bond … the flame we felt beneath the willow tree that night?
I want to hate his guts for ghosting me … but I can practically hear his wolf calling to mine.

If determination had a name, this black wolf would be it.
Tall, broad and muscular, he’s been training his whole life to take over as the new pack leader.
With his sharp gray eyes and thick black hair, he looks every bit the part …
And his delicious scent makes it impossible for me to stay mad at him … or resist him.

Fine, let him prevail in the rank fights and become the new Alpha.
Let him pretend that what happened between us was a one-off.
And I will pretend to hate him and never want him again.
Yet not even proud Alphas or rejected mates can escape fate…

How much longer can we resist the delicious pull?

Silverdale Wolves is a sizzling paranormal romance series where delicious wolf shifters compete for rank, respect and women. These strong males are possessive, demanding … and very seductive. Once they’ve identified their mate, they won’t allow anyone or anything to get in the way.

This book had a lot of potential, but it fell really flat. There was no world building, no real explanation for anything that happened, and everything was rushed. I get that it's a shorter book, but it could have been fleshed out more. What bothered me the most was it read like a YA high school story that someone quickly edited to contain adult content but without actually taking the time to make sure those edits made sense. So many scenes felt like the characters were in literal high school. They had lockers, classes, a "coach" etc.

The story itself was cute, but it read like a slightly fleshed out outline rather than the full story. I might give the second book a try and hope that this is just a first book issue, but we'll see.

La historia cumple

Debo decir que el inicio del libro tenía muchísimo potencial pero a partir del 45% de la historia se va de pique.

SOME SPOILERS:

This is a surprisingly engaging book. Author writes really well and has got great potential. I just didn't like the premise how the two main characters got together.

Having read a lot of fated mates in the wolf shifter world, I guess I wasn't ready yet to read different plots on how to reject mates. So far I've read a two or three and I didn't enjoy them.

I'm intrigued with the trope and got interested, but since I got used to reading about the mating culture in wolves, I can't seem to get along with the idea of wolves rejecting their mates, once they've found them. The mating pull and bond are so strong for them, making them so hard to resist. So i guess I would just have to get used to these rejection tropes. This is fiction and authors could be free to be creative and imaginative. Rejection tropes are really interesting even addicting, if you get into the groove, but painful to read. Admittedly this one is becoming a sought after trope in the paranormal genre, but I guess not for me. These are after all still romance stories. There's nothing romantic in rejection. Heroes get irredeemable for me once they reject and hurt their mates.

In this book, 'though interesting and engaging, I was mostly pissed with the hero. His predicament was really understandable, yet it was hard to read that having known his mate for years, he refused to even acknowledge it to himself despite his wolf kept claiming the heroine's wolf. Instead he kept screwing around with other she-wolves or whatever. He even used her once then ghosted her as mentioned in blurb. Then rejected her saying hurtful words. He had no intention to do anything about it, getting around on the predicament, or plan for it in the future, or claim her. He just accepted they couldn't be together. If not for a certain situation where he was put under pressure, he was still denying it. He was even willing to stay away for good and forget about her, again, if not for said situation. Then they're all over each other promising to be together. No buildup whatsoever.

I liked heroine a bit. Feisty and independent, yet another tiring weak heroine when it comes to her hormones and reactions to a hot hero in contemporary romances. Well in her case, yes understandably, because of the mating pull. Still, a self respecting smart she-wolf if rejected and hurt, shouldn't just be giving in at every opportunity a hero touches her. Just all bark no bite when it comes to a hot alpha hero. Hero didn't even apologize for hurting her when they finally were put under pressure to mate.

Overall an interesting read.

Raya is persona non-grata in her pack because her father has been branded a traitor and run out of town. Her mother couldn't take the ostracization and committed suicide, leaving Raya a virtual orphan. But she was made of stronger stuff, well, stiffer stuff anyway. One of the worst things had been the loss of her best friend and her brother. Delilah and Dash Silverdale are the Alpha's offspring. She had always thought that she and Dash would end up together, but that went out the window when her father challenged his father for the Alpha position and lost. Now, Raya was lucky that Dash just treated her a little better than the rest of the pack.

Dash feels bad that his friends treat Raya so badly. He and his sister have no choice but to shun her or their father would pitch a fit. He tries to apologize to her, but he just makes things worse. When she finds him in the woods, sleeping off a wild night, she tells him she was sure someone had been following her. They can't find anyone in the area and he walks her home to ensure her safety. He is preparing for the Alpha Challenges and it seems his father is not assured of his ability to win. For that reason, he has arranged a marriage for Delilah to one of the other challengers to ensure the family stays in power. Delilah has a Fae boyfriend, Finn, who she is in love with. She and Finn disappear together and Dash is running all round trying to find her when he suddenly realizes that Raya can help him find her. But what if he is wrong? Raya could end up banished from the only home she has ever known and he would never be able to make her his.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Excellent paranormal wolf shifter story. The book has great characters in Dash who is the Alpha’s son. It’s an original idea on wolf shifters. Rays is an Omega. Her father is in exile and labeled a traitor. Rays suffers that stigma numerous times daily. They grew up together with Dash’s sister, Delilah. Now both Dash and Delilah must avoid her. There’s action, suspense, intrigue, mystery and forbidden romance in this story. I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Mia Wolf.

ALPHA ’S MATE is the first in a new series by Mia Wolf's Silverdale Wolves series and it’s off to a fantastic start! Ms Wolf's descriptive writing, detailed and realistic scenes bring the story to life. The characters are well developed and you are bound to feel their pain and their triumph. There’s action, suspense, intrigue, mystery and forbidden romance in this story. I was totally into this story, turning page after page.

Dash and Raya were once friends who everyone thought would mate when older.  But that all changed when Raya's father challenged his alpha and lost. Now Raya wears the stigma of the the traitor’s daughter, living on the far edge of the pack. Her friends no longer acknowledge her existence. But Fate never gives up.

This is a fast paced story that will leave you wanting more from this series.

I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Mia Wolf.

Not friends anymore

Book one not sure where book two follows I saw the names of main characters in book two and they was not in this one.
This book was a interesting storyline not original but not to common a man challenged the alpha lost the fight so got called a traitor and kick out of the pack sadly leaving his 18 year old daughter to deal with her mum killing herself and everyone calling her traitors daughter. I did find that annoying she did nothing so she is not a traitor and was her father really a traitor? He did not go behind back giving out secrets.he challenged the alpha (we don't find out why) that don't make a traitor ok the alpha was his friend so not a good friend but not traitor to the pack.
I did keep thinking why did she not leave with her dad? (And the mum) maybe a reason should of been put in?
Plus the title is wrong they was never enemies they went from friends to not being aloud to be friends.

This book just simply did not give what it was supposed to at all. I’m a huge fan of paranormal romance and it just wasn’t my cup of tea. There was not really any build up to Dash and and Raya’s love story it was really dry. Also, there wasn’t much drama in the wolf pack. Everyone just hated Rays because her dad was a traitor, I’m sorry I just needed more drama. It had the opportunity to be a bit better but it simply fail short in a few areas for me but it was still a decent read.

Reclaimed

Dash & Raya: he is the son of the alpha and the time is coming up to fight for his place, but he can't get her out of his mind. She grew up very different then the was she is living now due to her fathers action she listed everything. This book is ARC I received for my honest review.
The characters will take you through twists and turns through out their journey to become fated mates. 😊

super disappointed

I’ve read a lot of shifter fated mates books. Good short ones tend to pull you in and root for the characters. This was so flat. The writing wasn’t bad necessarily, but the characters inner thoughts and dialogue was so childish. It was hard to feel like I was reading an adult romance and not two thirteen year olds having a crisis. I won’t be reading the rest of the series.

At odds

I read a lot of books and honestly this is one of the first ones where and the two main characters are constantly fighting. I was about to give up on the book but I saw it through. It’s a good read for its 200 pages but be very aware that the first 150 they’re constantly bickering and going out each other.

The world building is not great but has potential to be really cool, maybe in other books in the series it’s properly explored.

🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I really thought it’s be spicier. Seems like it was started as a high school story but at some point the author decided they were in their mid twenties instead.

good concept / too repetitive

I liked the story behind it but the author needs more world building and it’s a bit too juvenile for me. I also could not stand the repetition of referring the FMC as “Traitors daughter” like every 5 seconds I just kept reading it! Was quite annoying, I will not be continuing this series.

Okay story, terrible editing

The story line was just okay, nothing special or unpredictable. It was pretty mild on the spicy scale. My big complaint is the editing. The entire book is riddled with spelling and grammar errors and is very clumsily written.

DNF 49% through
I’m down for a lot but threatening someone with isolation and throwing them out after what she’s been through is not ok. You can’t just gloss over it with, well I wasn’t going to actually follow though I just didn’t want her to have a choice.

wow.
impressed at how bad this book is.
Take a daytime soapie and make it teenage werewolf & you've got this laughable but firmly unfunny book.
