The only thing worse than always being upstaged by your perfect sister? Falling for her alien fiancé.

I wasn’t supposed to end up on the Drexian space station or be matched to one of their gorgeous warriors as a tribute bride. My perfect twin sister is the one they wanted. Instead, I stole her spot. The trouble is, I’m not tribute bride “material,” whatever that means, and I’m on the first transport back to Earth in disgrace.

Before I can be shipped off, my sister's transport to the station is hijacked. Feeling that her abduction is all my fault, I stow away on one of the rescue ships but am quickly discovered. When we're also attacked by the Kronock, we end up crashing on an alien planet.

The Drexian I'm stranded with is gorgeous, brave, and a giant pain in my ass. From what I can tell, he finds me just as aggravating. What I don't yet know? The pilot is also the Drexian my sister was supposed to marry—and we’re stuck together on an alien world with no sign of rescue.

This standalone sci-fi romance novel features steamy scenes on an alien planet, a smoking-hot Inferno Force warrior, some serious heat, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA. If you like feisty heroines, aliens with extra erogenous zones, and lots of adventure, you’ll love FLAME, the fifth book in Tana Stone’s sci-fi romance Inferno Force of the Drexian Warriors series.

I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.

I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!

🛡️ Audiobook Review: Flame by Tana Stone

Genre: Science Fiction Romance | Narrators: Aubrey Vincent, Conner Goff, Jodie Bentley
Series: Inferno Force of the Drexian Warriors

🦸🏼‍♀️ Heroine Spotlight: Leila

Leila’s always been the shadow twin—overshadowed by Nora’s perfection, dismissed by family, and left clinging to her keyboard for control. When she discovers Nora has volunteered as a tribute bride to leave Earth and start anew on a Drexian-run space station, it feels like the final betrayal. So Leila does what she does best: she hacks the system, swaps identities, and boards the shuttle to The Island herself. If abandonment is inevitable, she’ll beat it to the punch. Her journey begins not with hope, but with defiance.

---

🧑🏻‍🚒 Hero Spotlight: Talvin

Talvin is a decorated pilot and comms officer for the Inferno Force, a warrior elite among warriors. Stationed on The Island to help defend against a rising alien threat, he’s long admired the tribute brides from afar. As the second son in his clan, he assumed he’d wait years for his match. So when he overhears that he’s been assigned a bride—only to learn she’s the wrong twin, a system reject—his hopes are dashed. Leila is slated for return to Earth, and Nora, the “acceptable” twin, is en route. But fate, and a little chaos, have other plans.

---

🔥 Plot Pulse

Talvin’s curiosity about Leila’s rejection sparks a quiet rebellion against the system’s judgment. He finds her drunk and flirted with in a station bar, and instead of walking away, he helps her home. The next morning, news breaks: Nora’s ship has been attacked. Talvin volunteers for the rescue mission, and Leila—wracked with guilt and determined to fix her mistake—stows away on his shuttle. What follows is a crash landing, a survival trek across an alien planet, and a slow-burning connection forged in fire and vulnerability.

---

💘 Things That Hit Home

• The “Journey” trope shines here—Talvin and Leila’s crash-landing and survival arc adds grit and intimacy.
• Emotional stakes rise when Talvin’s family pressures him to choose Nora, the twin with accolades and approval, over the woman he’s come to understand.
• Knowing Nora’s story gets its own book (and HEA!) adds satisfying depth to the twin dynamic and softens the tension.

---

😬 Room to Grow

• Leila’s prickly exterior—her snark, her defensiveness—made her hard to root for at times. Her hacking stunt felt more selfish than brave.
• Talvin’s lingering thought of Nora as his intended mate, even after bonding with Leila, dulled the romance arc. I wanted him to choose Leila with more conviction.

---

🎧 Narration Vibes

The trio of narrators—Aubrey Vincent, Conner Goff, and Jodie Bentley—bring solid energy to the story. Vincent’s delivery is crisp and emotionally resonant. Bentley adds sparkle to side characters. Goff, while technically sound, feels mismatched for Talvin’s role; his voice skews older and lacks the commanding presence I associate with Drexian warriors.

---

📝 Final Thoughts

A sci-fi romance with emotional undercurrents, sibling rivalry, and a crash-course in redemption. While Leila’s arc tested my patience, the journey trope and Talvin’s evolving loyalty kept me invested. Bonus points for knowing Nora’s story gets its own spotlight—because every twin deserves a chance to shine.

Talven and Leila were a joy to read.

This one was intense definitely. With a little humor thrown into the mix made it a complete delight to read. Though the outcome was super simple, in comparison to the angst leading up to it, it still was an ending I liked. As delightful as this one was, it was definitely a filler book. Nothing on the secondary plots with the Taor or the Synthians was present here. And the very brief encounter with the Drexians' number 1 sworn enemy, the Kronock, was short lived and just a tiny device to move things along. I'm not complaining though..

What I am pouting about right now though, is that I can't read the next one in this series till late October 2022. Are you serious?! And the epilogue in this one, has me climbing the walls to get to book 6 right now. I'm excited to dive in. But with this waiting game it better be worth it Ms. Stone :D

Based on books 1-5 I would recommend this series. And that is saying something, since I did not finish the 1st series that this spin off is based on. LOL

Now it's time for the Inferno Warriors who aren't looking for a bride to spar off against earth women.
Warrior alpha aliens whose lives are spent keeping the peace but for some it is in the front lines fighting an enemy who destroys worlds. Earth doesn’t know aliens exist except for the government. A deal was made, and women are given in exchange for protection.
This fun tale sees women and warriors come together to build a new space station that is supposed to be a fantasy place. There is much laughter and action to keep you occupied whilst enjoying this read.
Journey along as they learn to navigate a union together with lots of action in fighting the bad guys. I look forward to reading the rest of this sci fi romance series.

Woo hoo, there are twin sisters in this one. One that wants to be a bride, and the other not so much. Well the not so much sister, Leila, takes her sisters place, and of course the Drexians know it’s not her sister. Tal is her sisters future husband, which he knows, and seeks out the sister to get an idea of his future bride. When her twin is on her way, she is intercepted by the Kronos, then there is a rescue mission, which leads to Leila stowing away on Tal’s ship, that has to land on a very interesting planet.

Safe read, because although he was intended for her sister, he didn’t pick her, his controlling dad did, and he was very surprised he had been moved up to get a bride. Good storyline, with lots of action. An epilogue that will you wanting more, so next book please, and a hea.

Oh I missed the Drexian warriors! Talven is a Young warriors and as such he still shouldnt be elegible to have a tribute bride but he finds that he has, but his brided was switched by her twin sister that is a notorious hacker and, as such, not bride material. Fate really does what it wants and a lot of things happen getting Tal and the wrong twin stranded in an alien world. Things get hot really fast and its amazing how Tal is such a sweety and a bad***. What happens when they return and there are two twin sisters? Dutty or Love? Loved it!

🔥 “You’re going to take all of me, aren’t you, female?”
~~~
Talven is one of the youngest members of the Inferno Force. He’s one hot, clever, strong, protective and honorable male. Even more, I loved his confidence and delicious dominance. Talven is absolutely irresistible and I couldn’t help but adore that magnificent Drexian!
Leila is an infamous hacker and one very independent woman. And she’s so smart, courageous and feisty! Even more, I loved her strength to admit her wrongs and determination to right them. And she’s willing to sacrifice everything, even her own happiness, for her sister. She’s one admirable woman and I loved her so much!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Leila and Talven! From the moment they met, their attraction was undeniable. Knowing about the tribute mix-up, Talven tries to deny his feelings for Leila. But when Leila sneaks aboard his ship during a rescue mission and they’re stranded on an alien world, Fate turns all their plans upside-down. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Talven and Leila. And their banters and teasings were absolutely fantastic! I really loved that both gave as good as they got. Those two were such a perfect match and the passion they shared was off-the-charts hot. Even more, I admired that, after all secrets were revealed, both tried to do the honorable thing and live up to their families’ expectations. But true love cannot be denied!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! I loved that we got to explore an uninhabited planet full of dangers and surprises. And the Kronock threat might not be as contained as everyone thought. Even more, let’s not forget Serge - always being his flamboyant, outrageous and fabulous self! And I really liked Noora, too - she’s so understanding, caring and supportive.
Overall, the story is another marvellous addition to the series. It’s filled with adventure, danger, fast-paced action, twists, flaming hot romance and magnificent characters.
I absolutely loved every page of it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Sometimes the wrong girl is really the right one
I loved Talven and Leila’s human-alien, fated mates, mistaken identity, forced proximity romance. The heartwarming and exciting storyline was imaginative, the characters well developed, and the writing addictive, all drawing you into this world. Talven is a Drexian Inferno Force warrior who is the chief communication officer stationed on the new space station used as a human-Drexian mate-choosing location. Leila is a human computer hacker who hacked into the system, took her twin sister’s place as a bride and traveled to the new space station. Unbeknownst to him, Leila’s sister was to be Talven’s bride. When he overhears a conversation about the mistake, his curiosity leads him to seek out Leila. After their initial interaction, instead of being sent immediately home, Leila sneaks on Talven’s ship which is being sent to rescue her sister who has been kidnapped by the Kronock. When the rescue ship is shot down over on an alien planet, the danger and the connection between Talven and Leila heats up but is it real, could it become forever, and what about her sister? The story was well written with sweet moments, steamy scenes, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, loyal friends, fated mates, coincidences, plot twists, painful pasts, and laughs. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
I was so looking forward to reading the latest installment of the Drexian tribute wives, and liked the premise of the wrong twin sister turning up. However, I found Leila to be totally unappealing. Unlike previous heroines she doesn't appear to have any skills, seems to do nothing but get drunk, sleep, and attempt seduction. She reacts without thought, and usually for her own self-interest..even when she attempts to 'do the right thing' it is actually so that her sister remains happy with her.
Inferno Force of the Drexian Warriors is a spin-off from the Tribute Bride series, and picks up where that series left off, Drexians are large muscled humanoid aliens with bronze skin who’ve spent their lives battling the enemy aliens called the Kronock. There had been a secret treaty with Earth for the past 30 years where the Drexians have been granted permission to abduct human females in exchange for protection against the Kronock. However, things have changed in this spinoff, and now Earth is very much aware of aliens and offer volunteer brides instead of abductions. This series begins with the Drexians building a secondary space station similar to “The Loveboat” called “Fantasy Island” where they are mated (married) to their Drexian warriors. The war with the Kronock is still ongoing.
Written in first person perspective, Flame is book 5 in this series and follows Drexian Talven and his human mate Leila. Leila hacked into the Drexian bride system and took her sister’s place as a bride. Talven was the Drexian pilot that her sister Noora was supposed to marry. Once the Drexians discover the deceit, they arrange to pick up Noora and return Leila to Earth. Unfortunately, Noora’s shuttle get commandeered by Kronock and Leila feels responsible for her abduction. Guilt leads to her sneaking aboard Talven’s shuttle for the rescue mission. Their shuttle gets attacked by the Kronock and they crash on an uninhabited planet. Of course, the two hook up and fall in love along the way.
I hated everything about the drama around this couple. They both denied their feelings WAY too hard for my liking. Too many times I found myself rolling my eyes like “really!?” The only, and I mean only, thing I found pleasure in was the hot-as-fire sex scenes. Talven turned into a dominant top, commanding Leila’s body and taking control. I loved every second. I just wish it didn’t take Tara Stone so damn long to get to the juicy shit, then only give us a small taste. There are SO MANY PLACES that people can fuck Tara, get creative and give us more. Ugh. Grace Goodwin ruined me for all alien romance novels.
Like all the other books, this couple have their ups and downs, back and forths. She fights the claiming, then he fights the claiming. She fights her feelings and he is a typical male idiot that makes poor decisions. One forgives the other way too easily, then things work out in their favor and they live happily ever after.
I might need therapy, but that’s what books are for, right? Lol.
I recommend this series. Tara Stone is a creative author and I prefer the first person perspective. The series is much better if you read the Tribute Bride series first so you know the history and what’s going on. I can’t wait for book 6, the plot sounds intriguing. It will be nice to watch Talven’s hard core uncle fall in love. Hopefully his experience will show. I have to find something else to read while I wait for the next book to be released. Maybe I will try Tara’s Raider Warlord series while I wait for her next Drexian and Sky Clan books to come out.
This was a sci-fi alien warrior romance.
Another great addition to the Drexian series. Loved the world building and characters.
Leila is a hacker who took her sister Noora's place as a tribute bride just to teach her a lesson. Her sister is always leaving her behind, this time not even telling her she was joining the bride program. She has no intention of actually marrying a Drexian or staying in space. She gets busted by Serge and he tells her she has to go back to Earth on the next flight. She goes to a bar and drinks too much while flirting with the bartender. Talven volunteers to take her back to her room and ends up falling asleep.
Talven of House Vorren is an Inferno Force warrior temporarily stationed on the Island. When he overhears he has been bumped up on the tribute bride list he knows his father was responsible. He is curious about the woman who was deemed inappropriate for him so he goes to the bar to see her for himself. The next morning he finds out his tribute bride was kidnapped by the Kronock do he volunteers for the rescue mission. Leila stows away on his ship to help rescue her sister. They get attacked and crash land on an uninhabited planet. They give in to their mutual attraction before they get rescued. Back on the Island they find Noora who was also rescued and plans to go along with the wedding. Talven has a personal crisis being torn between love and duty, but he gets his HEA in the end.
This is another wonderful amazing story by Tana Stone. It’s an installment to her Inferno Force of the Drexian Warriors series book five and takes place around the Drexian brides. This one made me laugh, cry and cheer. It’s Talven and Leila’s story, although Leila’s twin sister Noora was supposed to be the tribute bride. Leila decides to pose as her sister so she can be a tribute bride and upstage her sister for once. Of course what could go wrong but you fall for the Warrior meant for your sister. Fate takes over and Talven and Leila stranded on an alien world. There’s lots of danger action suspense adventure twists steam off the charts passion flaming hot romance and love. I loved their chemistry together and how when their secrets were found out they both decided to do the honorable thing and do what their families expected of them. But could their true love be denied. It’s another marvelous story and addition to the series with an ingenious storyline plot and wonderful characters that all have a great chemistry throughout the story. I can be read as a standalone but the entire series is well worth reading.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
Leila was sick of being upstaged by her twin and so took her place on the tribute bride scheme and ended up on a Drexian space station matched to a gorgeous warrior. But she is not the one they wanted and so she is on the first ship back to Earth. However, the transport containing her sister is hijacked by the Kronock so she quickly stows away on one of the rescue ships but after being discovered they are attacked by the Kronock and crash on an alien planet. The gorgeous Drexian she is stranded with is brave and is her sister's fiance but hard as she tries not to, she is fast falling for him.
I enjoyed this story with the twins, the fiance and the denial in order to do their duty before realising that they just cannot go through with everything. I loved the electricity between Leila and Tal and the passion that existed between them which just proves that they were meant to be together and not with someone else. I loved the way that they were able to work together and how the sisters came to a conclusion that actually showed that they had they were far more alike than they probably realised. Easy to read and understand. Contains some mature content.
Another good piece of mindless fun
I’ve been with these hunky Drexian Warriors from the beginning so it’s nice see another one get their happily ever after. Leila is a twin who hacked the system and took her sister’s place as a tribute bride. Sure it was kind of a dumb move and quite frankly, her reasoning really didn’t make sense to me. But she was a pretty strong character and I did like the chemistry between her and the MMC, Talven.
There is a ubiquitous crash landing on an alien planet, a trek through the landscape while avoiding the evil Kronock. The only thing really missing is Leila’s hacking skills. I was sure that something was going to arise with the Kronock in which her hacking skills was going to save the day. But alas, it was not to be.
While this book won’t win any awards, it was still a good, quick read. A few characters from previous books are scattered throughout the book, which is always nice. I do recommend this book to readers of lighthearted Sci-fi romance books. However, if you like your romance dark and super smutty, this isn’t the book for you.
Highly enjoyed reading this story about Talven and Leila. Leila a hacker forges her way on "Fantasy Island" as her twin sister Noora gets caught. Talven overhears Serge and Reina talking about a tribute bride that was matched to him that is ineligible. This piqued his interest to find out why she's ineligible and to ask how he was on the list. So, he looks for her. Meanwhile, sitting in her holographic room, Serge and Reina confront her. After debating they decide to transport her back to Earth since she doesn't want to be a Tribute bride. Leila goes to the bar to drink the bad day away with Reina until she gets called away. Tipsy, Leila meets Talven who is struck by her beauty. What occurs afterward is an engaging story with likable characters, action and steamy romance in this enjoyable ARC that I received and volunteer to read and review. Loved this series from the first book about the Drexian warriors and I'm continually enjoying each book.
I loved this story!!! When Leila hacked into the computer system for the Drexian brides and switched her name from her sisters, she had no idea how she would fall in love with Talven, who was her twin sisters chosen mate. From being chased to a barren planet and falling in love to then being rescued and having to watch her twin sister marry the Drexian she wanted for her own, Leila and Tal were living their worst nightmares. Until Noora, Leila’s sister realises in time that she didn’t want to marry Tal. Leila and Tal are heading for their happily ever after. Just when you think this the end, it seems that someone else is going to marry Noora, but she has no idea. This leads to the next book in the series.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.
well the author did it again. brought us another terrific wonderful story filled with excitement, angst, danger, emotional highs and lows, sadness, and ultimately joy and love. great well developed characters richly detailed and a beautiful world well described and ornate. u feel like u are drawn right into the world of the drexians and the island and the lives of the characters in space living the story along with them cheering them on. I can't wait to read noora's story next and see what excitement happens.
I highly recommend this book and series to anyone loving a thrilling alien/human world and finding happy ever after.
Another great story and this one is about Leila and Talven. Leila hacked her way into the "Fantasy Island." Talven has been pushed to the head of the list for a bride and is surprised. He hears Serge and Reina saying that the tribute bride is ineligible. After catching Leila they decide to send her back to Earth because she didn't sign up to become a bride. Leila goes to a bar to wait for her trip back to Earth but meets Talven and he is inflamed by her beauty. That's when this story really takes off. This was a fast paced, action, adventure, suspense, drama, danger, and sizzling steam. Love the characters and the storyline was fantastic. Read to see if these character end up getting their HEA?
Her twin sister Noora is the golden child and perfect tribute bride, Leila....is not. When Noora signs up to be a tribute bride, Leila (deemed unsuitable to be a tribute, not that she wants to be one anyway) is tired of Noora always being superior. Leila hijacks her sister's ride to the space station and is promptly ordered right back home. Before she leaves, she learns Noora, who was on another transport, was kidnapped! Guilt ridden, Leila stows away on one of the search-and-rescue ships....ironically the one being piloted by (unbeknownst to her) Noora's future husband. With the chemistry flowing between them from the moment they first met, this pair has more to worry about than just evading capture when they crash and are stranded on a potentially enemy infested planet.
What a good story - Drexians - Kronock - different worlds, well of course as a sci fi romance. It was good to read about this tribe and the fabulous wedding planners. Earnestly - the mind of the author is something I do not understand, how does she come up with all these names, places, scenarios, ... the Gatazoids... Sergé ... in between these are something absolutely to cherish with their outrageous personalities. And the Drexians, just wow!!!! Fabulous romance with fabulous five stars!!!! Nothing else is possible!
I receivved this story as an Advanced Readers Copy and am very voluntarily submitting this review.
Es geht um Talven und Leila.
Leila, eine Hackerin hat sich in das Program für die Tributbräute eingehackt und ist statt ihrer Schwester auf die Station wo Noora, ihre Schwester, ihren zukünftigen Ehemann treffen und heiraten sollte, geflogen.
Sie wird dabei erwischt und soll zur Erde zurückfliegen. Kurz bevor sie wieder abfliegt wird ihre Schwester die auf den Weg zur station war, entführt. Zur Rettungsmission gehört auch Talven, Nooras Quasi-Verlobter. Leila will dabei helfen ihre Schwester zur retten und schleicht sich auf sein Schiff. Van da an nehmen die Dinge ihren Lauf.
Ein solider Liebesroman mit einer guten Hintergrundstory und einigem an Spice.
Leila is a computer hacker. She ambushed her sister's tribute bride application just to mess with her "perfect" sister Noora, but she hadn't really thought things through.
Talven overhears that a tribute bride had been picked for him, but the wrong woman was sent. He decides to meet this woman w/o telling her who he was.
Stuff goes sideways, as usual, and Talven and Leila get to know each other quite well before Noora gets to meet Talven.
I really liked this story. The spice gets a little spicier with some D/S action in one scene. I'm really getting sick of the annoying wedding planner. I wish someone would put him in his place for once.
Loved this story. Leila and Talvan star in the latest story in this series. The story is exciting, the characters sexy and in Leila’s case, feisty. Our couple get to know each other very well, after she stows away on his ship. Her sister is in danger after being kidnapped and Talvan is one of the volunteers to go searching for her, however, things do not go to plan after an attack by the nasty kronock! Great story and loved the HEA! I also loved Talvan’s uncle and look forward to reading his story.
I received an ARC and these are my opinions about the story.
this book is amazing, another great installment to the Drexian brides, Her sister Noora was supposed to be the one who had signed up to be the tribute bride. but instead her trouble making Hacker sister Leila shows up in her place.
Talven unknowing that he has even been chosen for a tribute bride over hears the wedding planner talking and finds out and has to see for him self who this female is, and oh the adventure this begins.
This is an amazing story, filled with tons of emotion, loads of action, adventure and tons of crazy antics. I received a Arc of this book that i happily reviewed.
Wow I loved this from the get go. Talven a young warrior over hears some startling news concerning his future. Suddenly learning that he has moved to the top of the list for a tribute bride knowing full well who is responsible for this he sets out to investigate.
Leila decides to pose as her twin sister for the tribute bride program, in order to get one up on her sister. Of course everything that could go wrong does go wrong and she falls for a warrior who befriends her. Not knowing who he really is. My heart was breaking for both Leila and Talven. Both being honorable to the very end.
Taking her sister's place as a tribute bride was an act out of anger for being left behind which is how Leila ended up on the Island. Talven is a young warrior who shouldn't have been on the program but now he's intrigued.
Tana's story was fast-paced, with danger, hot romance, drama, action, and great characters.
Talven & Leila
I do enjoy reading a good Drexian story. Talven being the respectable warrior he is, had made up his mind to do the honorable thing and marry his tribute bride. Although he had fallen in love with her sister. I found a kindred soul in Leila as I totally understand her decisions and her actions in walking away. I am not the reader to give it all away, so I encourage you to pick up a copy of FLAME to discover how this love, or loveless(?), triangle ends.
Woohoo! Another Inferno Force warrior getting his tribute bride, or was it? Love the action and the feels. Though I have a little hesitation on liking the FMC at first, she redeemed herself in the end. I am looking forward to the story of her sister, I expect that she too will be paired to another Drexians.
Leila and Talven. While the story was good it lacked something for me. The characters spent too much time dwelling on their circumstances. Sacrificing themselves to the happiness of others. There were mistakes in the proofreading of the ebook I read. There was something missing. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.
Work it Out
I don’t think I will ever get enough of the Drexian Warriors. The stories are always full of action and humor with a cast of unforgettable characters. I enjoyed Talven and Leila’s story because in spite of the obstacles, it all worked out in the end. It was touch and go but they got their HEA and Leila could confirm for her twin that the rumors were NOT exaggerated!
