Gina Nash is a great assistant. Maybe a little too good. Because when her socially awkward boss Olivia Noble meets the woman of her dreams, she turns to Gina to assist her in bedding the target of her affections. Gina isn’t exactly thrilled to find herself sending flowers and coaching her boss through dates with Harper Blake. Gorgeous, confident, charming, Harper’s a little too perfect in the eyes of cynical, snarky Gina. But when Gina finds herself getting pulled deeper into Olivia's and Harper’s fledgling romance, she gets a peek underneath Harper’s flawless exterior. And it doesn’t take very long for Gina to develop a rather inconvenient connection to the woman she’s trying to push into her boss’s arms…
This story is a pretty good find on KU, I thought. It's lighthearted and funny and I had quite the fun with it. There is a love triangle between Gina, who works as an assistant; her boss, Olivia; and Harper, a literary agent who works with them. Olivia is quite taken by Harper but knows she's socially inept so she gets Gina to help her court Harper and Gina ends up helping Olivia out in exaggerated ways. This was actually pretty ridiculous and Olivia gets overboard with her requests but the story is hilarious so I was pretty entertained most of the time. Among the three of them, Harper is the easiest to relate to and I like her the most. She's the least socially awkward character and has a pleasant personality.
I thought there were slight issues with the pacing of the story. There was too much focus on Olivia's attempts to date. I would have liked to understand Gina better because her character was hard to understand and would have preferred more interactions between Gina and Harper. But all in all, an entertaining read and very cute.
Both MC's are endearing and made me swoon. The supporting cast of characters had me laughing out loud, and that ending... WOW! I've yet to stop smiling after reading this book.
You might have read reviews that said this book is “fucking hilarious!” Well, they’re not being exaggerated. It is fucking hilarious! I enjoy the book thoroughly, and the MCs are endearing. I was afraid the ending would be rushed, but I’m actually very satisfied. This is the book that would delight your day!
Read all about it…It’s hilarious. What a fantastic read. Laugh out loud fantastic. And it was simply clever. It had good women, bad women, and ‘they thought they could hide it’ romantic women. I was trying for my biggest compliment. The only thing that said it all was… I wish I’d written it.
Oh man, I barely finished this. I only got here because I genuinely like the concept! But when you keep forgetting your character's names or whose POV you're on, we run into some serious issues. Typos are one thing, but...YOU named these people!
Four times. I counted four times that she got their names wrong. And on one of those occasions, she threw out a name that WASN'T EVEN IN THE BOOK! Who TF is Miranda?? I mean, really. This is a grade school mistake to make, and I cannot overlook it. It's lazy, and it looks bad. Also, one of the characters was Michael Phelps. Yes, like the Olympian. Am I supposed to be believe the author has never heard of him?
And once again? GET AN EDITOR!
Why do I have to keep saying that?!
As to the story itself, I did like the concept, and even the overall execution. I liked the way they spoke in text, it flowed well. Although sometimes, in long exchanges, I would lose the pattern and didn't know who was talking. In long stretches of dialogue, even text, you still need identifiers! I did not expect that Olivia was in on the whole thing, though. That one took me by surprise; she didn't seem that type, I guess. But Brenda was the best character.
Cute as heck, absolutely loved it. This trope is the greatest and West gives it a different spin than Georgia Beers' Secret Poet, Gina and Harper were amazing, I can only highly recommend this. Also the cover is AMAZING!
This was a fast read. It had short chapters which I really like for some reason. I know it seems silly, but it makes me feel like I’m moving along and making progress. I’ll take the feeling of progress whenever I can get it these days. It wasn’t hyper-sexual, but did have just enough “what happens now” in it to keep it going. My one complaint would be the editing. There was the wrong name thrown in here and there which made it confusing at times. Nevertheless it was a cute and enjoyable book.
both mcs are the most endearing people. I loved the chapters where the same event is told with a different pov and their experience is drastically different. it's also just a really funny book.
Great sapphic rom-com! Very well written, and I enjoyed the dual point of view between Harper and Gina. I prefer the dual point of view because I want to see both sides, especially in a love triangle trope. Harper and Gina are cute together. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a good laugh. Happy reading!
Gina was enough of a realist to know that she probably did have a price. But it wasn’t that low; she was glad to know.
At first it was cute and funny, but then I feel like it was a bit repetitive and childish. Sometimes I felt I wasn't reading about three grown-up women. Still, an adorable read if you are looking for fluffy cheeriness.
You can't quite follow the plait because it is all over the place, but it's a fun ride thinking what next. The point where she was telling the woman she love sweet nothings for another woman was oone of those odd pieces that worked!
Basic errors that could be corrected by a good editor really irritate me. Add to that the not very believable chemistry between the two mains and it’s a no.
My face hurts from reading it while smiling and laughing. The romance A plot was entertaining. The workplace B plot was compelling. The 2 POV characters were distinct and individual I could instantly grasp who was speaking by the well done writing. The ending really had me turning pages while giggling like a crazy person. It was flirty and fun. Sex implied but no on page depiction.
I’m on a quest to read exclusively queer books for a month, and I’m sad to say I found this one to be a bit of a mess.
On paper, I should’ve been all about this book: I’m an assistant who has gotten stuck doing awkward things for my bosses for literal decades.
And I’m a lesbian.
And I’m a failed writer.
The three main parts of this book are hiiiiighly relatable.
Instead, I found the plot forced; it moved too quickly. The characters felt flat and one dimensional. I’m not sure I bought or understood any character’s motivation.
And look. I know writing is hard but I need an author to remember the name of her characters. Or if that’s asking too much, at least have someone proofread your shit before you publish so you’re not calling the character that you named Olivia, Miranda wayyyy too often.
If you can’t even remember your characters as you’re writing them, how tf am I supposed to?!?
2 stars only because the premise could’ve been classic rom com cute, and there were exactly two paragraphs that made me go “hm that’s a vibe”.
If you are looking for steamy this book is not for you. If you want funny it's perfect. I laugh out loud so many times👌. A sapphic hilarious modern cyrano
I do look forward to releases by Natasha West because I can usually count on them to be absolutely hilarious and super sweet 🥰. “All The Right Words” truly did live up to its title and as usual from the first page starting with the hashtag dontdropthesoapboss, had me giggling with glee.
Gina’s suddenly got a new boss who’s the queen of the boardroom but a bit of a dork when it comes to dating. So aside from assistant like duties, Gina’s being asked to play “Cyrano” and help Olivia woo Harper with her words and stories. Only problem is that…all those words seem to be evoking some unexpected feelings. 👀
I loved this take on the Cyrano / love guru trope. Gina as the reluctant guru and golden tongue when it comes to authors and words was an adorable character, both vulnerable and fiery. The slow circling of Harper and Gina towards each other was really well done and evoked a nice slow burn till resolution. Speaking of resolution, you think you know how this going to end, but West’s hilarious take on the finale was just awesome and I loved every dramatic moment. Brenda and Vincent became some of my favorite weirdos in this book.
This is a quintessential Natasha West book, it’s funny, sweet and just plain good storytelling. I sometimes wish West’s book would include more smut ☺️…but in this one I was happy with how everything fell into place and everything felt just right.
“All The Right Words” is available on KU, so just go grab it.
writing wasn’t the greatest and the story did get a little confusing at times. i wasn’t really feeling the timing and development of the plot.
gina’s crush (?) on harper felt so rushed and poorly done , it just happened out of nowhere and i wish i could’ve seen more of gina actually being interested in harper instead of her always being so cold.
i also wish more was done with olivia using gina to get harper, it would’ve been so interesting if it had been dragged a bit more!
three stars is largely due to the confrontation scene! i was giggling the whole time, it was absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic, but it was funny and entertaining. the plot twist with olivia was also poorly done and the book could’ve done without it, but it still gave me a laugh!
three stars because im a sucker for this trope (even when done poorly) and im rooting for harper and gina! and sometimes it’s nice to read a little silly book about girls kissing and falling in love!

Ohhhhh, what fun! I’ve been looking for a lesbian love triangle book for ages (just to experience one) and could never find any and FINALLY one comes to me and it’s everything I’ve been looking for. This is my second book by this author and I’ll admit, I liked The Missus but there was also something terribly lacking with it so I wasn’t sure if I was gonna like this but it got me. I really enjoyed how endearing all the main characters in the triangle were and how everything progressed. Obviously it was clear which pairing was gonna be the real love story but it was entertaining seeing how it all came about and I’m very happy with said ship because they were who I was rooting for! I also love how the drama happened with the reveal re: Olivia, Gina and Harper’s (secret) feelings for each other like yeah peak lesbian drama I have to say lol
Honestly this just proved to me that love triangles are only interesting when they’re gay.
Good read! This was a well written book about an assistant too scared to really try her hand at writing her dream novel or to love people. Her humor, sarcasm and with are her shields and swords. Her new boss Olivia asks her to help her in "landing the mc" to which she agrees. She feeds her boss lines, writes her text like love notes. Eventually the two mc falls in love slowly. Both the mc have insecurities which they face. I liked this part about the book. The dialogue was evolved. The character were well written but nothing too deep. (Spoiler)Olivia's personality did a double take at the end, couldn't have predicted that All in all, it was a sweet love story with a little twist at the end, nothing dramatic. I would recommend this for people looking for love triangle romance with a hea.
I picked this book up on a whim last Saturday evening as I had about 3 hours to kill before going to bed. Come Sunday morning, I only slept a wink instead of the planned 8 hours because I just HAD TO finish it. That must be some sort of an author's achievement, isn't it? To have your readers so engrossed that they almost forego sleep. It's that enjoyable.
It was the humor and the lovely characters. Well, except Olivia that is. Natasha West has written a perfect mix of comedy, romance, and a touch of drama in this one. So that it was a hilarious read but not devoid of charm. This kind of book is always a weakness for me and the reason why, as a rule, I don't start new books after dinner because I want to live long and I heard sleep is an important part of that! 😆 It's a work in progress apparently. But at least I have a book and late night laughter to show for my lack of sleep.
This has some potential. I’m not a fan of books that follow more than two povs but always willing to give it a go if it’s sapphic. The only thing I liked about this book was the tension between the two MCs Gina and Harper.
Other than that, it was an honest struggle to finish. The amount of errors on the kindle version; Miranda being mentioned in one chapter (there is no Miranda), the errors in who was speaking, typos and missing words…did this even pass through the hands of an editor?
I also, didn’t find it funny.
Conspiratorially, was apparently, how everyone approached a conversation in the first half.
Don’t get me started on the ending and how OTT the scene in the office felt.
Overall, it’s an ok read if you’re looking for something short, light and something you can finish in one sitting.
This book was really great. It would be something I would want to read again, you know It could become my new comfort read. Its just so witty and unforgettable, cause like once you've read it, and you just look at the cover again, you start to remanence. I LOVE both of the characters, but especially Gina. Gina was jut fun to read, her personality, sarcasm, and even care made me really like her, she's just a really interesting character. I also started getting interested in Harper perspective, when Gina started liking Harper and when she was on dates with Olivia. The whole premise of the book was done wonderfully and I hope for more books like this. Olivia is an asshole and this book is great

There has been quite a bit said about this book, about how hilarious it is, and that along with the rather interesting premise was enough to get me to pick this story up. They weren't wrong either. I started reading it, and couldn't put it down, drawn into Gina, Harper and Olivia's story. I love this story so much. It is brilliantly written, witty, engaging, and has such an awesome plot (let's just say that there is a lot going on, and it is told so well), I ended up reading it in a night. That it had a focus on writers was just an extra bonus. If I could give it more stars, I definitely would, and I highly recommend it. If there was a paperback version, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
This book was a quick read, and it kept me engaged, but...there were numerous editing errors in the Kindle format that distracted from the readability of the story. Also, by the end of the story, I was left incredulous by how everything worked out. It was a little too neatly wrapped up in a bow, and I was unable to "buy" the fact that Harper just forgave Gina so quickly for the deception that she carried out through the entire novel. There should have been more on the working back to something rather than being ravished in an elevator?
There were a few errors throughout the second half of the book that made it seem like the editor just didn’t care about helping after the first half. It because hard to track who was ‘talking’ as the names were often switched and I would have to read the page 3 times to be able to sort out that the speakers names had been wrong. At one point there was a totally different name thrown in - Miranda ? - that otherwise doesn’t exist in the book. And mayonnaise is not a dairy product, for goodness sake.
Harper is a book agent and Gina works for a publishing company. Harper represents Brenda with her new book coming out. I found the plot amusing that parts and your magic and others. Gina and Harper like each other but are in a situation with Jean as part Olivia. I found the characters very good and were quite different. There are many twist and turns in apply and they found the book very interesting. I recommend this book for all romance readers.
I enjoyed this a fair bit, but wish the author had leaned more into the obvious comedy potential a bit more. It's clearly very effective when it's done at the end of the book, but for the rest, we play it pretty straight (heh), which could have been better. I also wasn't really feeling the connection from the MCs because when one person is just constantly rude to another, and then suddenly feelings, I can't really suspend disbelief. Still a very fun ride nonetheless.
