When ten-year-old Charlie Hensen is reported missing in East Los Angeles, Detective Evan Parker begins a search that swiftly turns into a full-blown abduction case.
Assisted by his dead partner, Detective Napoleon Villa, Parker follows the evidence until the trail runs cold. But mysterious chalk drawings begin to turn up in unexpected places with ominous warnings, and it becomes apparent to Parker there are forces at work in the case that are not of this world.
As Parker and Napoleon push forward to do everything they can to solve the case, they soon realize the question isn’t who has taken Charlie Hensen, but what has taken him.
The answer will lead them over one thousand years into the past, to a creature who drew his sins and committed a crime so heinous not even time could bury it.
Tony Faggioli was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of Southern California and is a happily married father of two kids, two dogs and a pretty awesome goldfish.
Really good story, kept me involved and intrigued. Author has a new fan! Can't wait to read more books. The plot was well thought out, ending was good didn't make me mad at the book. Loved it!
A little boy named Charlie goes missing and it isn't long into the investigation that it becomes obvious to Parker that there is more to this case than meets the eye. Parker and Napolean need to have their wits about them with this latest entity Chalk Man, as the demon that is nurturing him has more power than Napolean has yet learned to master. Trudy has proven to be Evan's rock, his way out of the dark depression he still wrestles with. He has taken young Effram under his wing and tries never to miss a game. Maggie Kincaide makes a cameo appearance at the end of Chalk Man when she agrees to have Ava intern with her for two months at the Women's Shelter she runs. Happy reading. Annemarie
I received a free Advanced Reader Copy of Chalk Man from the author and have chosen to leave a review.
Detective Evan Parker has a terrible case to track down - a missing ten year old child. Statistics show that the first 24-48 hours are crucial to finding him... alive.
What LAPD doesn't know, however, is that Parker's former partner, Napoleon, killed in the line of duty, is still giving him tips and help. His ghostly help is important, since the kidnapper they're seeking is not entirely of this world.
Disclaimer: I'm personally acquainted with the author, and have read several, if not all, of the books in this series.
If you like horror, demons and angels, and a compelling tale, you'll probably like this. Not my favorite cuppa, but extremely well done, and the damned hotel scene had me reading way late into the night. The Chalk Man is a terrifying demon-creature, and the climactic ending scene was well-set, indeed.
The story begins with the mysterious disappearance of a young boy and continues along unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader in suspense until the end. As an avid Faggioli fan, I've read the trilogy that introduces Detective Parker and his partner. Though the back story to the relationship between these two characters would enhance the understanding of their role in this novel, the intrigue and events of this stand-alone novel do not require the reader to have read the trilogy beforehand. Faggioli is a master story-teller, and weaves the facts into place with seamless skill. The combination of crime/thriller, and the supernatural makes this story unique and fun to read.
Child abduction is already a scary topic. Add to that a paranormal element and this book becomes a nightmare beyond imagination.
Faggioli's style of writing takes the reader directly into the action. The urgency created by the abduction scenario and the detectives' need to solve the case speedily is felt as the story unfolds. My heart was racing at the plot climax, and I even found myself physically ducking to avoid being hit by a flying object in the book!
I have been a long-time fan of Tony Faggioli's writing and I declare his latest novel another winner!
Any book about a child abduction with story lines spinning off of kids participating in online gaming and the possibility of being abducted by a sexual predator makes for an interesting and addictive storyline. But throw in a paranormal aspect and the storyline becomes riveting and a rush to the finish line. am ready to pick up one of the other books in this series and hopefully run into Detective Parker again.
Another absolutely thrilling adventure with Detective Parker!
Tony has done it again. Seamlessly blends normal and paranormal events together and takes you on a thrill ride start to finish! Parker was up against multiple demons this time including a high level one called Chalkman. Can he and his dead partner fix this before an innocent 10 year old kid dies?
Tony Faggioli is a great storyteller. I've read each of his books as they became available and rated each one as a five star read. He writes about good versus evil in an engaging way. There's always a great story with interesting characters who may or may not be alive. Do yourself a favor and try one of his books.
It was a great read it was thought provoking as well as riveting
I loved the book it has a lot of real life drama with a big slice of the supernatural world that is there and we can’t see I enjoy the drawing out the characters of previous books and ties them in this one makes me want to go back and reread the others. It’s a great read for everyone
There’s more to the situation than just a missing kid! Evan and his partner go searching and who knows what kind of evil awaits....another great suspense story where physical and spiritual realm are both exposed!
This book seamlessly ties the supernatural and natural worlds. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story with surprising twists and a wonderful ending.
