I write contemporary romance and women's fiction. I always give my characters their happily ever after, but I love to make them work for it! It's a long road to love, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
I am wife to the love of my life, mom to a special, beautiful son, and a friend to those living with autism through my charitable foundation.
An absolutely swoony short story from Kennedy Ryan. It's everything you expect from her but in a bite size format.
This woman never misses.
This is definitely a short story snippet of time in a couple's life, not a novella or full novel. But if you're a fan of Kennedy's writing and you've already read her entire backlist (ahem...me) I think you'll love this peek into her storytelling.
And if you're new to her work this will give you a good taste of what you're in for with one of her full length books.
Free To Love is a story every bride-to-be can relate to. An overbearing Mother-in-Law is doin’ too much and the bride's mama’s boy fiancée refuses to check her. Shawna is fed up because, her future MIL has taken over their wedding and she's grown impatient with Markus’ silence. A huge argument ensues, and alone time has been requested. That ain’t the move you want from your fiancé when the wedding is three weeks away. Markus knows he’s screwed up and has to make things right. After a few baby baby pleases and some bomb azz make-up sex, Markus comes up with a brilliant idea that delights the both of them. Free To Love was a sweet Junteenth read. I can’t stand a mama’s boy but, Markus really redeemed himself with his romantic gesture. This was my first book by Kennedy Ryan and, while I wasn’t overly impressed, I did still enjoy it. I’ll have to read one of her full-length novels (black love of course) to really determine if I’m a fan.
A beautiful couple- Shawna & Markus, their ultimate marriage union and hearts & flowers!! But dream bubble is pricked when monster-in-law takes over the wedding arrangements and turns it into a giant circus ...doves and all It's cute, sweet, hilarious take on a runaway wedding-train and nervous bride jitters, anxious groom and a whole Lotta shaking heads by best friend keira Kennedy know how to serve sweet bubbly wine aprés-dinner to keep us sated 4 stars for sweeping away the old and beginning anew Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
This was a beautiful short story from Kennedy Ryan, who never ever disappoints in her amazing writing and storytelling. This story was previously published in an anthology, A Year of Love, where different authors shared a short story for each month, and Kennedy currently has this as a freebie to celebrate Juneteenth.
Shawna, a special needs teacher, and Markus, an athletic trainer for a NBA team, are engaged. But currently Shawna is a bit stressed over the absolute production that their wedding is being turned into with others’ input. And this is where we get dropped into their story when the novella starts. Even with such a short read, Kennedy has a way about delivering such richness and layers to her characters and their journey. If I could say anything else, I guess I’d want more of their story but that could be true about all of Kennedy’s books because they’re just that good and you never want them to end. Her writing just has no faults.
“And when the final words echo in the stillness of the back yard, a benediction to a beginning, we both stare at the broom on the ground. It signifies sweeping away the old and beginning anew. It signifies that we, unlike so many before us, get to choose our when our where our who and how. We get to choose our love and we have chosen one another. It is celebration. It is jubilee. It is freedom I hope I’ll never take for granted.”
This is a sweet but spicy appetizer. It's a Juneteenth Love Story and it was free from the author! Weighed by external pressure Shawna and Marcus find a way to celebrate thier love in this very black aesthetic from verbage, hairstyles, holiday and cultural markers. This love is sweet and in this short tale there is a room for some hot spice and a love that represent black love as black freedom.
A short and sweet story. My favorite part was the sex. It was just the right amount of spice. For Juneteenth aspect…I guess that was cool or whatever lol.
This was such a beautiful Juneteenth story of hope, love, and celebration. I loved both Shawna and Markus. And in true Ryan fashion, there’s still steam and sexiness.
Kennedy Ryan is my fav I don’t think I’ve come across anything she’s written that I didn’t enjoy. My only downside here is that the story ended to soon. It gives all the feels we look for in a romance especially the spice. But this was definitely a teaser cause as soon as things get good it ends 😂 had me like wait no I need more‼️
short and sweet and super cute. a quick 30 minute read and my girl kennedy still delivered.
sn: this was my first ever ebook (read it on the kindle iphone app) and it absolutely solidified that digital reading is not for me.😂 physical or audiobook me please. 🙌🏽
if she ever decides to do print copies of this, i will be purchasing!
This was such a sweet story. My only complaint is that it was short and not a full-length novel. That's a personal issue, not a problem with the story. I loved it. I just wish it had been longer. I have loved everything I've read by Kennedy Ryan and look forward to reading more from her. I rate this a 4.5.
Short and sweet story about an issue many engaged couples face. Shawna and Markus are struggling through tension as his overbearing mother turns their upcoming wedding into a production neither of them wants. The resolution works for everyone.
3.5 stars 🌟 Why was this so short? I know it's a novella, but still! I'm so sad!! I wanted more!! 😭😭 Also, they mentioned August West and Iris and my heart beat faltered.
