Abby Blackwell thought she had everything figured out.

Good friends, great job, perfect boyfriend; and if she can't stop thinking about the guy she fell for in her teens, so what? Everyone knows relationships like that can't last, and besides, all she learnt from Jake Taylor is that passion can drive you crazy. A safe, sensible guy is exactly what Abby needs, and she's totally sure of that.

But out of nowhere, Jake is back, and just like that, the boy Abby could never forget is now the man she can't stop thinking about. Try as she might, she's unable to stop herself from feeling the same way she did ten years ago, and the more she tries to convince herself that she and Jake aren't right for each other, the more she starts to think it might not be true. But what if she's too late? What if she's missed her chance with the only man she's ever wanted?

4.5 perfect stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Summary:
Undone is the continuation of Jake Taylor and Abby Blackwell’s story after their time apart from each other. Stunned to have met each other at a meeting room in the office to welcome Jake as the new PR in Abby’s company, the two have now their own lives. However, no matter how much each of them have grown, the two seem to be serendipitously pulled together physically and continually drawn to each other emotionally whether it is as colleagues, friends, and if fate be forgiving, as lovers.

This work was honestly heavy. Awakened was a breeze to read but having to proceed to Undone was difficult because I, myself, couldn’t see Jake and Abby not being together. Nevertheless, I understood that they needed to be apart but for my own heart, I didn’t think it had to be as much as 10 years, which made the book harder to read. I felt the same perpetual regret Abby felt and I did got angry with her more in here than in the first book.

I had to power through all of the difficulty and heaviness because I love both Jake and Abby and this duet as a whole. Hence, I want to see them together finally and officially.

The most difficult part to read was that The current timeline could have been longer for me. I wanted to see more of Jake and Abby together in everyday life. Showing their love to each other at work, at outing with friends, more with Alex and Conor, when they are traveling and ticking off red pins on Jake’s map and replacing them with green ones, them officially moving in together, and maybe when they get married and have children.

I also felt like there were a couple of details left out like. I’m a details person so these kind of bothered me.

Might I also mention I am not a fan the crisscross pattern of going back and forth from past and present, no matter what book I read it in. It is always a struggle going from tensed and sad to happy then tensed and sad again, and so on. Especially here since all I cared about was really Jake and Abby getting back together. I didn’t fully appreciate at first the need to incorporate more of the stories of teen Jake and Abby although they did start to blend in as the stories go by. Don’t get me wrong I loooooved the chapters nonetheless, but I am not exactly sure whether I’d have appreciated them more in Awakened or as bonus chapters at the end of the book.

That being said C.T. certainly has an excellent talent in writing. The duet was still beautifully executed, the narrative lovely, characterization complete and effective, and not every author can pull off writing dialogues and not make them cringey or seem made up solely as part of a story or fillers. Jake and Abby’s dialogues were so authentic, lovely, and, for me, the best part in the whole narrative. It is hard to believe this is her debut work together with Awakened. Hopefully it won’t be her last because I was still in the first quarters of Awakened when I hoped to myself to read more of this author’s work because her style is unique and I rarely find authors with this kind of quality in their work.

Both Awakened and Undone definitely made me swoon, love, cry, and be happy. There are very few characters who I think are truly made for each other, and Jake and Abby are among those. I’m so happy to have come across this duet and certainly this won’t be the last time I’ll take a look and read Jake and Abby’s story.

beautiful.

A beautiful conclusion to the story of Jake and Amy. I cried, I laughed, I smiled, what more can I say? A worthy read.

5/5. This is the best book I have read of 2022.

Before I get into why it was so great, I will tell you my only issue with it - the time travel moments. While I understand them, I don't think we needed so many but it was a good look back at their relationship origins.

WOW. This is a love story for the ages. I loved this book. I loved how they bumped into each other 10 years later at work and tried to make the friendship work. I loved the communication and respect for boundaries. The growth was impeccable. The way they reconciled was beautiful. I was so happy and smiling when reading this.

I truly recommend Awakened and Undone to everyone. It was just beautiful.

I hope we get a third book about their wedding and married life. It would be so cute. I am now forever bonded to Abby and Jake.

4.25 stars I was so pleased to see the completion of this love story. The characters of Abby and Jake are still as compelling and captivating as they were in "Awakened". AND as frustrating. I wanted to wring Abby's neck countless times but because I understood her reticence with being open and forthright about her feelings and desires, I accepted that is just who she is. Fortunately, Jake's undying love for her allowed their relationship to finally flourish. Finally.

Revisiting the beginning of their love story became a bit overdone but it did give a better, fuller understanding of the depth of love (and not just the sex) they had for each other. Such sweet, yet heart-aching first love that was reignited 10 years later.

The author writes well but reading the inner monologue of a character who never matures and seems to hate both themselves as well as others, is very painful yet dull. The MFC seems to be ill-equipped in every environment, and despite 10 years going by, she hasn’t gain any emotional maturity nor any sense of self-possession. Had to skim starting at about 40% of the way through so that I could finish.

It was too long that it got a bit underwhelming. Loved the HEA for Abby and Jake though. I wished there were more glimpses into their distant future.

I think I liked this book better than the first. The flash backs to when they were young depicted more of a meaningful relationship when the first just felt like an endless hookup with some feelings thrown in. however, In both books I felt that they were drawn out and repetitive at times. And Abby’s inner conflict of not being a coward got old real quick. I found myself yelling at her to man up constantly. Regardless, the underlying plot and emotion of both books gave me all the feels which I loved.

This was beautiful. Since I read the books in tandem (both within 12 hours of each other), I can’t help but wish the flashbacks were about moments they had missed each other during the 10 years - it was a bit too much to go back to 2008 again and again so I did end up skipping parts of it because I wanted to read their story, their love and stupidity.

But seriously wow, talk about a book that reminds you of what it is to love hard. Loved it.

Wow was able to feel their perspective change from a teenager to an adult. Their road to get back together seems realistic; the fear of rejection, hesitation and misunderstanding

The chemistry here is really top notch. I enjoyed this book a lot. Considering I did not read the first it's great as a standalone too.

A beautiful ending to the Blackwell and Taylor Saga

4.5 stars

Wow.

First off had I not browsed my Kindle book recommendations I’d never even known there was a sequel. The author does not promote herself enough. But this is another beautiful story of hers. And set 10 years into the future at that! My heart stopped when I realized that the story picks up 10 years later and jilted lovers Abby and Jake are now adults drudging through the fickle thing called Life, corporate America, and adult relationships. They are brought together by a fateful opening in Abby’s job for a PR person and surprise surprise Jake happens to be it. It’s another slow burn and this book pays homage to Book 1’s love story, and what could have been between them since that fateful day in 2008 when they broke up.

So cons. My biggest gripe with this book is the time jumps and the redundancies with their pining and yearning and honeymooning over their past relationship. This book stretches to over 700 pages because of it but overall this was a well written conclusion to their story.

Slight spoiler
Don’t think you’re going to get any hardcore action in this book though. 95% of the erotica scenes are set in their past 2008. I felt like this book was edging me the whole time. The first present day KISS doesn’t happen until page 590, 83% of the way into the book. In other words they don’t express their love for each other until 83% into the story. I admired that there was no physical cheating going on with the pair while they had their significant others, and we really do see how the adult versions of themselves have grown mentally from their pasts, but admittedly at the 500 page mark, my patience started to thin. Abby and Jake infuriated me and I wanted to see this obvious pair realize they were meant to be. But It made the ending so much satisfying .

I’m thankful I was lucky enough to have followed through with this series, will continue to be one of my favorite gushy teen romance novels

If you've read Awakened and are unsure about whether or not the sequel is worth visiting, I say go for it. I wholeheartedly believe that the experience of reading Undone reshaped my entire perspective on the duology. Awakened felt very much in line with the high school experience. It's confusing and chaotic; both the writing and the characters themselves. I loved the ending of Awakened as it wouldn't have felt right any other way. Undone created a deeper and important understanding of their relationship and its flaws and how important it was for them to grow up and become their own people. I've seen reviews complaining about the lack of plot. I do agree, but I don't see that as a flaw. This book is much more similar to books like Normal People by Sally Rooney than many others at the forefront of the contemporary romance genre. This book is not about jealous exes or whacky and dramatic storylines. It's honest in its exploration of these two characters as they navigate adulthood, growing up and falling in love.
If I'm completely honest, this book destroyed me more than I thought possible, just from the experience I had with Awakened. The idea of two people who love each other so much, being kept apart for so long solely due to their inexperience and inner turmoil was so gut-wrenching to read and I felt like I was going through the emotions alongside Jake and Abby. I found it hard at times to continue reading for hours on end because I'd be an emotional wreck.

The only issue I had with the book was the flash-back chapters. Certain aspects of their relationship were hard to read considering the turmoil they were going through in present day that I felt there was too much of an emotional whiplash for me to enjoy the past and present simultaneously.

If you want the short review: I read this book for almost 8 hours straight in one day... Is that good for me? Probably not, but I'd do it all over again just the same :)

In a nutshell: If you didn't get enough of Abby & Jake in Awakened, here's 700+ pages of self indulgent analysis about our dear angsty couple (that I ate up in less than 24 hours)

Let's start with the cons. The first half of this book really dragged. It was incredible maudlin and repetitive. Abby and Jake reconnect 10 years later as adults and psychoanalyze their teenage relationship to death and repeatedly blame themselves for their breakup. They reminisce and share their respective points of view of the events from Awakened. Again. And Again. I believe there's some flashback scenes that are just lifted from Awakened which was annoying BUT there were also tons of missing scenes which I was completely frothing at the mouth for. Even Jake's dirty talk (which I loved) got a bit repetitive.

In spite of those issues, this book was worth the read for me and I have already started rereading certain parts. The chemistry the author created between Abby and Jake is seriously intense, insane, and unmatched. Their growth as individuals during their time apart resulted in an adult relationship that was much healthier and more honest. The flashback format of the book really helped highlight the contrast between their teen vs. adult dynamic. I really agreed with the author when she explained why they couldn't have a happy ending in the first book, and when they finally got together and all the emotional floodgates opened... I was sobbing.

Prepare for a terrible book hangover!

I was particularly harsh in my review of Awakened, but I think it was well deserved. I didn't like the book at all because of the female character, Abby. She was truly awful and absolutely abusive to Jake.

When I realized that Undone was the second book in their story, I was apprehensive to read it, but I'm glad I did. However, I skipped over the flashbacks because they were a bit more "loved up" than in the original book.

So here we are, a decade later, to find Abby and Jake working in the same company. There is still so much unresolved feelings between the both of them ... not going to lie, their rehashing of the past gets a bit boring ... but I was so glad Jake called Abby out on his birthday (his mum, too) so that she could finally understand how she broke his heart and destroyed him and gain some accountability for her past actions.

Theirs is a hard fought path to a happy ending.

It's definitely better than the first book, but it's not epic. If you choose to read this, you can definitely skip Awakened because the past is all hashed out in this book.

4 stars - ahhh yesss a HEA at last, I’m so glad that these two characters finally got a conclusion to their love story!

It was very pleasing to see Abby grow into a much more confident and sure of herself person. Of course she did have moments of doubt but who doesn’t. I think overall the book was a perfect continuation into their love story.

If I had to give some things I didn’t enjoy all the time was the flashbacks. I did think it was meaningful and allowed the reader to get a deeper feel into their early relationship but I felt like most of it was also added just for the sex? I’m always down for spice but with how the second book was written I felt like the author just wrote most of the flashbacks to make up for the fact Abby and Jake didn’t get intimate until later.

Regardless still a good read! :)

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The ANGST! My God!! the angst in this is gut wrenchingly palpable.

The chapter titled “The Truth” was absolutely painful to read, the grief they felt over lost years, miscommunication, and still unable to get across their actual feelings for each other had me pulling my hair out!

I loved this book more than I loved Awakened which is diabolical because sequels aren’t always known for being better than the original, but this one was a rare case for sure. I loved Abby and Jake’s world so much, that despite the book being more than 700 pages long, I still felt like it wasn’t enough, but alas! All good things come to an end, and it’s a bittersweet feeling to finish this book for me.

Not normally into second chance romance but this did get me i was a little annoyed it took so long and like a quarter of the book is missing scenes from the first book buttt seeing the character growth was fun.

Spoiler alert theory: I dont think Caroline was real she was never mentioned to anyone except work friends and every time Abby asked about her Jake was weird. I'm so sure he lied and was like yeah I've got a girlfriend which is why he was so mad when Abby finally revealed she and Patrick were on a break or whatever. Also Patrick most nothing character of all time award goes to you my friend.

i felt like they were repeating themselves/their story over and over and over. I also did not like the flashbacks at all, i started to skip them by the end quarter of the book as they truly didn’t aid the plot at all
