I had high hopes that this book would be as good as Crazy Rich Asians. Counterfeit designer purse racket sounded like a perfect opportunity for success. It wasn't. I was disappointed but plodded through it.
I didn't like the voice it was written in with Ava speaking to an unseen, unheard detective. At one point later on in the book, I wasn't sure who the bad girl was-Winnie or Ava? Author's attempt at mystery or suspense? Just confusing but only for a chapter of two. Ava, wife and mother, would fly to China at the drop of a hat! Yeah, right.
I enjoy fiction about lavish, outrageous spending and seemingly glamorous lifestyles in current times. Especially those in NY, China, Paris, etc. Will continue to look for more.
