Wilder Adventures #4

A Little Wilder

Rate this book
What happened in Vegas? Definitely didn’t stay in Vegas.

Gabe’s the oldest. Brody’s the bad boy. Clark’s the strong, silent warrior. Amanda’s the girl. And Easton—well, Easton’s the panty melter.

I’m Kane.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not a bad job. But usually, I’m not the one people are talking about.

That’s about to change. Because the woman I had a smoking hot one-night stand with in Vegas? The one I should have stayed far, far away from, since women like her are my kryptonite?

She’s the same woman my brother just hired to redesign his fancy new glamping RVs.

I haven’t seen her since Vegas, but the instant I lay eyes on her, I can tell my quiet role as the boy-next-door brother is about to change.

She’s pregnant.

And it’s mine.

There are things that I wouldn’t wish on anyone irl, but that work beautifully in books. One of them is a surprise pregnancy. So please be safe out there, people, but also let’s keep ’em coming with the surprise-pregnancy books!

Mari and Kane met in Vegas. They didn’t exchange names or numbers. When she found out she was pregnant, Mari tried to track him down, but to no avail. Until the universe throws them back together…

Big, loving, perfect families are another fantasy I very much need in my life. Kane’s family was like that: a bunch of hot brothers who are each other’s best friends, a mom with lots of good mom energy, and sisters-in-law turned besties at first sight. A perfect village (the one it takes).

Mari and Kane had amazing chemistry and I loved them together. Mari was fun, and Kane was so caring and supportive that it was a delight to read. Also, the door was wide open, and there was plenty of interesting stuff to see there 👀

Their freakout at the end was not a third-act breakup; I’d call it a realistic depiction of early parenthood. It was also resolved after they had some sleep, which sounds pretty realistic too.

I’ll definitely keep reading this series!

Another one day read from the Wilder fam & Ms Bell helping me to not completely lose touch with my 2022 GR Challenge🤞

3.5*

Kane was a bit of an enigma to me prior to this book, we've seen a lot less of him than his siblings in the earlier books. The most page time he got was towards the end of the previous book which laid the interesting groundwork for this one 😈
He was a breath of fresh air in this fam of macho men even if he feels a little "other'd" within the family of Wilderness warriors - thankfully his path crossed with quirky spirited wildflower Mari who has her own baggage to unpack and reckon with as they feel each other out - not so honourable mention for Mari's mom...what an absolute 🤬 wagon tbh

I am not typically a fan of the "accidental pregnancy" romcom trope...I actually hate it as a reason to keep a couple together but have to admit the way it is handled here as a building block for the potential couple to suss each other out and the roles they may play in the wee bábógs life going forward made it a more enjoyable reading experience with what we already know of the eclectic Wilder gang as they expand to make space for Mari & bump.

The female friendships as their circle expands is such a fun bonus in these books - it is especially strong in this one as they rally towards the end to help when the baby arrives. I liked the originality of the 3rd act "drahmz", all things considered it makes total sense and is it odd to say I like how it was handled? 🤔
The typical 3rd act "separation" in romcoms drives me bananas and I was happy to see this pick a diff path but 🤐

I'm lowkey curious to see it all come together in the final instalment as we round out the Wilder Adventures with Easton...altho I am still holding out hope for Amanda to get a book eventho I think I saw somewhere that Ms Bell's attention has wandered to Rachel's bro Connor instead. I'm still hoping for maybe even a novella for Amanda, it's not fair she's the only Wilder not to get her own story!
She has been such an MVP for the series - and could totally have an interesting story of how to keep romance alive in a marriage...just sayin' let's mix it up a little with some dad bod to balance out all these supposedly super specimens hanging out in small towns 😅🤗

Serena Bell does it again. I absolutely adore this series and A Little Wilder was another amazing installment.

This book is about Wilder brother Kane who had a very unexpected one night stand in Las Vegas and hasn't been able to get the woman out of his head. Seven months later this woman, Mari, arrives to help do some work for the family and she is pregnant. This story is absolutely adorable. I loved every single second and it was great to see more about Kane as he had been the quieter brother in previous books. I loved the tropes in this book including secret baby and close proximity. I adored the story even though it was so simple because the characters were just perfect.
Mari is a strong female and it was wonderful to see open up and become more vulnerable. I loved her as her own character but also how she interacted with Kane and how their relationship grew. She saw a side of him that even his family didn't see and I loved that.
Kane is the sweetest, most caring and understanding male protagonist I have come across and I loved him for this. However it was so great to see him gain more confidence through the book and the changes in his actions due to this.
I also loved that we saw a decent amount of the other Wilder characters as this family is becoming one of my favourite literary families of all time. They are just a joy to get to know!

The romance was adorable but also full of chemistry and with some rather steamy scenes. I really routed for them and thought they made a wonderful couple.
Serena Bell is such a brilliant romance author and never fails to make me care for her characters. Everything in this book was perfect for me!

I obviously adored this book and series and cannot recommend it enough for romance fans - but make sure you read the series from the start! I cannot wait for the next book!!

Please note that I was gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

“A steamy, small-town, accidental pregnancy, one-night-to-forever standalone romantic comedy” Goodreads

First off, I really love the cover of this book! Both the cover and the title are just adorable and right away I knew I had to read this one. It wasn’t until after I requested it that I realized it was part of a series. Luckily this book basically acts like a standalone because you do not need to read about the other Wilder siblings in order to enjoy this one. However, I read the synopsis for the other three brothers and oh my gosh, I definitely need to read those now! I’m also really looking forward to the next one!

I haven’t read a story featuring an accidental pregnancy trope in awhile. While I do enjoy this trope it can definitely be hit or miss for me depending on how it's handled. I’m happy to say the author did a great job with it in her story. Before the two characters reconnected I already connected and started to like them both separately. Kane was such a great character and is honestly going to be a lot of peoples new book boyfriend! He was almost perfect which did start to get to me but then the reader understands why. Kane does have flaws but they are very minor because he is just such a great person. How he treated Mari melted my heart. Don’t even get me started on Mari! I loved her character. I could really relate to her fears and worries about being wanted, accepted, and about being a good mom. It is always hard to believe in any form of love once you have been abandoned at a young age. Luckily, she opens her heart to Kane and the opportunity to a future/life with him.

Only complaint and it's a small one is the saying, “boy next door” referring to Kane was used way too much. It was said almost every chapter and I don’t think the reader needed to be constantly reminded that's what he was. We know how Kane is through his actions and personality. But again this is such a small thing and might not even bother you.

I would definitely recommend this one! I enjoyed the writing style, pacing was on point, the characters were lovely, and the overall plot was fun. It was so precious and honestly I laughed and smiled so much while reading it. I’m pretty sure my heart was smiling!

Thank you so much Jelsba Media Group for the gifted copy on #netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Spoilers ahead, 3.5*

This was my first book from this author and in this series, I won't say I was lost but I did feel a little like I missed something. I think having Mari and Kane's initial night together in Vegas in a prologue would've helped...... nevertheless onwards

*****
Mari and Kane met in Vegas and had a ONS, they didn't exchange names or any contact information. Fast forward some months later Mari is contacted to decorate some trailers for Wilder Adventures and meets none other than her baby daddy.....Kane Wilder.
While Kane couldn't stop thinking about the redhead he'd had the best sex of his life with, he's at the stage of his life where he wants children, he's been dating a woman for months until she breaks up with him. Shortly after he meets the woman he couldn't stop thinking about.......and his unborn child

********
I love accidental pregnancy/baby from a ONS romances but I've got some things that'll throw me off
1) Apparently Kane and Mari did not use a condom..... I'm a hypocrite but I prefer a broken condom as the reason for the pregnancy rather than unprotected sex. Mari had an IUD that failed
2) I do not like my mcs with op after the ONS! Kane had a whole relationship 😤😑 during the 7 months since they were together. I'm not a fan of this at all. Mari tried to hook up with a couple of guys but didn't get pass a kiss. For the safety of the baby I needed this to be just as it was...... gigantic side eye to Kane. He wasn't a manwhore and the OW doesn't cause drama so to me that was unnecessary.

Aside from those issues this book was a pretty decent read. Kane struggled a bit with his place in his big family and Mari had abandonment issues because of her mom. She felt she couldn't stay in one place and before meeting Kane again had thought about putting the baby up for adoption. Though they had good chemistry they took a good while before things got physical again as Kane focused on getting Mari to see that life in a small town amongst his family wasn't bad.
I liked the Wilder family, their support after Mari had the baby was invaluable.
I would've liked the epilogue a little further out but one assumes they'll show up in the other books in the series.
All in all not a bad choice, I'd read more from this author.

ETA the H was the boy next door type so not as Alpha manly caveman type I usually like
**********
No cheating
H was described as a serial monogamist
The H/h hook up once and didn't see each other again for months
He had a girlfriend who broke up with him shortly before he met the h again
Mari tried but didn't have sex with anyone else
No OW/OM drama
No third act breakup (extra points to the author for this, it was a near thing lol)

Sometimes you see a cute cove and a blurb and you think why not. So I picked up and read A Little Wilder. It is number four in the Wilder Adventure series and by a new to me author. As the story begins Marigold Barrymore is seven months pregnant. It was the result of a one night stand in Vegas with a guy Mari can’t get out of her head. Mari is a interior designer for airstream trailers and she travels from job to job. Her latest job brings her to design six trailers for a glamping experience in Oregon. And much to her surprise she was hired by the brother of her baby’s dad. Kane Wilder is a good guy. He’s always been the peace maker in the family or thought of as the boy next door. He is stunned and thrilled to see Mari again.

This is a cute small town romance without big angst. Yes the pregnancy is a factor in the story but it is really two people discovering each other and bringing out the best. She’s never had roots and lives life on the road. Kane works in his family business but it isn’t always what he loves. Together they bring out the best in each other. I haven’t read others in this series but his family is so wonderfully loving and embracing I will keep my eye out for others in the series. I enjoyed the lightness of the story and I read it easily in a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. Thank you to NetGalley, Author Collective 20 and the author for an ARC in exchange for a review. This is my first book by this author, as well as the first book for me in the series to read. I liked it. It was cute. I loved the family dynamic. I just felt as if that wow swoon factor was missing, and the story felt a little rushed.

A Little Wilder
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Romance
Format: Kindle eBook
Date Published: 7/19/22
Author: Serena Bell
Publisher: Jelsba Media Group
Pages: 254
Goodreads Rating: 4.47

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Jelsba Media Group and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: Kane is the good boy of the family and while in Vegas for his brother’s bachelor party, he had a one-night stand. Turns out that his one night stand and woman my brother just hired to redesign his fancy new glamping RVs, is one in the same. He hasn’t seen her since Vegas, but the instant he lay eyes on her, he can tell his quiet role as the boy-next-door brother is about to change. She’s pregnant and Kane is the father.

My Thoughts: This is book no. 4 in the Wilder Adventures series and since each book focuses on a different brother, it was not hard to pick up and roll with, it did well as a stand alone. Usually I do not care for the unexpected/accidental pregnancy book and actually read the synopsis a few times before deciding to request it and I am so glad that I did. This is first I have read in the series and by this authors, but I will be adding the others to my TBR. This was a light cute read, perfect for a beach day or after a heavy emotional read. The story is narrated by Marigold and Kane, told in dual perspectives, I love this type of narration. The characters were well developed, had depth, chemistry, connection, and the characters just worked well with each other. Our two MCs, Marigold and Kane are just perfect together, you see them grow the relationship, a strong love between them, and grow as individuals through self-discovery, and even though the unexpected pregnancy is a factor, the focus is more on the relationship and their perspective self-discovery. The author’s writing style was creative, complex, had aspects of humor, captivating, and so much intensity. This book releases later this month and I highly recommend that you preorder it. I will be on the lookout for the next installment featuring Easton.

“You’re a saint, Kane,” I tell him. The corner of his mouth turns up. “Hardly,” he says dryly . “If I were a saint, you wouldn’t be pregnant.”

The cover of the book was just perfect for the accidental pregnancy trope and that's what drew me in. I wasn't expecting to like Kane so much. He was such a cinnamon role hero! I felt bad for him as he always had failed relationships just because he often came across as the "boy next door" or "the golden boy", in fact all these reasons were enough to love him, I don't understand how could anyone leave him for those reasons. But the timing was perfect because by then Marigold reappeared in his life. They met in Vegas when Kane was in the middle of celebrating his brother's bachelorette party and had a one night stand. They left without getting to know each other's names or numbers. So when Marigold found out that she was pregnant, she couldn't find a way to contact Kane but when a job opportunity leads her to Rush Creek, she coincidentally ends up working for one of Kane's brothers. Mari feels like she isn't cut out to be a good mom because of her mom's history of not being able to stay at one place for long. She thinks she has the similar kind of issues as her mom and is planning on giving her baby up for adoption but Kane convinces her to give him and his family a chance to change her mind so that he could raise their baby himself. He wanted to have a family of his own and raise his baby with Mari but he understood her concerns and never once pushed her boundaries. He respected her choices and that's what I liked the most about him. It was also good to see Mari slowly adjusting into the new life and find her own place among the Wilder family. Overall, it was a good read with an engaging writing and great side characters. Can't wait for Hannah & Easton's book coming up next!

This was a highly anticipated summer read for me and it did not disappoint! I discovered Serena Bell earlier this year when I read an arc of Something Wilder and I instantly fell in love with her writing style and ability to create authentic, likable characters. I have since read three of her other books and can’t wait to continue working my way through her backlist.

Seven months ago, Kane had a one night stand with a beautiful woman named Marigold when he was in Vegas. It was very out of character for him, but for one night he wanted to pretend to be someone other than “the fixer” or “the boy next door” that he’s been treated like his whole life. They never exchanged names or numbers, so there’s been no contact since their steamy night together. Imagine Kane’s surprise when Mari shows up in Rush Creek to help his brother with a redesign of the RV’s for the family business and not only is she pregnant, but the baby is his.

I don’t normally like the surprise pregnancy trope, but I knew what I was getting into here and I trusted Bell not to let me down lol. I had nothing to worry about because this story was heartwarming and just perfect in every way. Kane is the sweetest, most down to earth, cinnamon roll hero. He’s always wanted a family and is not scared off by the fact that this woman just showed up on his doorstep pregnant. Marigold hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Kane, and while she has some hang ups about family and commitment, she can’t deny the chemistry they share.

I just love this series and this family so much! The way they always show up for each other tugs at my heartstrings in all the right ways. This is another beautiful, bingeable love story from Serena Bell with relatable characters, great banter, and lots of spice. I love the small town setting, the dual POV and the one night stand that turns into more trope.

If you read romance and you haven’t checked out this series yet you are seriously missing out! Thank you so much to Serena Bell for the early copy of A Little Wilder to read and review. Get your copy on July 19th!

High 4 ⭐️
Fun and well done romance that’s part of a series. I think it’s book 4 and I know there’s definitely another after this.
I guess you could say that this was a sort of second chance? I mean they did start something up again. I thought they were super adorable together and this is a very feel good quick read. You know…. The one to pick up after several crappy days in a row and you need some escapism. This is that book. I love a smexy head over heels kinda romance. Don’t take my word for it. Check it out. Would I read another book from this author? Absolutely!

This is a perfect, cute, not angsty book. I picked it up from the cute cover and the blurb that really interested me.

It is a small-town romance and you don't have to read the other books before reading this one.

This story follows Kane as he cannot get out of his head the woman he had a one night stand in Vegas with. They reconnect as Marigold (or Mari) gets to his small town for a job opportunity to redecorate six trailers. At the start of the story, Marigold (or Mari) is seven months pregnant and unsure of what do to because of her past with her family, but as time flows, she considers all of her options and, finally at the end, she chooses the best one.

The main characters expand their relationship throughout the book, starting from somewhat strangers to lovers. It is not really a bumpy road (pun intended?) but the story is beautifully written and no detail is left out, no matter the size.

I totally recommend this book for relaxation purposes after a rough, emotional book 😂. It really calms you down.

It includes mature content *wink wink*.

Tropes: pregnancy, one bed.

If you're looking for a low-angst, sexy, fun summer read, look no further than this latest installment in the Wilder Family adventures. Kane is the steady, supportive Wilder brother, always counted on to be there for his family so when he gets the chance in Vegas to let loose a little he does, but without any plans to find the woman who still haunts his dreams. Then Mari, an RV renovator gets hired by his brother, and his past is right there in front of him, including a new possible future - because Mari is pregnant. Mari grew up on the road and the idea of settling down in one place is scary, but the more time she spends with Kane and the Wilder family, the more she starts to see a place for herself with them.

The title of the story is a fun play on words since Kane, getting a little wilder, results in 'a little Wilder' baby. There are no big misunderstandings, no stressful moments, and even the conflict is more internal (with Mari figuring out herself and what she wants to do) than external. Fans of romances with young children, pregnancy, and the acknowledgement that you can be sexy (and want sex) when you are pregnant will definitely enjoy this. It'll make a great beach read!

Starting off, Serena Bell sure knows how to write interesting characters. I read A Little Wilder as a stand-alone but after reading about the characters in the previous books, I want to go back and read them. The only keeping me from rating this higher is the storyline; it's not my cup of tea. My friends who read this loved the storyline about pregnancy and wondered if she would settle down.
Even though the main plot wasn't my thing, I adored the characters and would read more from Wilder Adventures!
+ Rivoting and likable characters
+ Plot was well paced, almost perfectly paced
+ Loved the setting
- Plot about pregnancy wasn't my cup of tea

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fourth book in the series, and I would highly recommend that you read them in order, as the underlying story of the Wilder family runs through them all.

I am always amazed at how stories which start in Las Vegas pan out - and this one is definitely one of the most entertaining that I have read!

Kane is the Wilder brother who is the good guy, the one who gets taken advantage of, because he is just so good natured - the introduction to him is a perfect example of this. However one night in LV, he decided to channel his much freer with love brother and had a fling. Months later he still has not been able to forget her, so when she turns out to be the RV specialist that his brother has just contracted to overhaul their new onsite RVs. What is really unexpected is that she is pregnant ... and yes it his!

Mari is such a fascinating character, suffering from rejection bordering on abuse from her mother as a child, she cannot imagine the life that she discovers when she is included in the Wilder family group. I love how they work hard to be welcoming, but also aware of her becoming overwhelmed. Kane we already know is the good guy, but faced with the woman he could not forget, he is so caution not to lose her, or their baby. It is impossible not to become invested in the happiness of this new family.

It is really fun watching them fill in the bits which they missed out on with their precipitous start, and most particularly reading about how she plans and achieves her make-overs.

This is such a fun series with lots of variety and I am enjoying seeing the growth of the family as they bring in their loves and make the business even more successful. Looking forward to the next installment!

wow serena bell did it again. this is a series but it could read as a stand-alone. and actually it did great with as a stand-alone. i’m not a very big fan of pregnancy trope. i will like that trope if it’s written well. this book is about Kane and Mari. fyi, i wasn’t expecting to like Kane so much. he is such cinnamon roll hero, a very “boy next door” and also “the golden boy”. i mean he is such a great guy. and Mari, she’s a great character i would say because she has that something to make people love her. Kane and Mari first met was at Las Vegas, they had a one night stand and that’s it. after few months, Mari found out that she pregnant and she didn’t couldn’t find a way to contact Kane until one fine day she coincidentally working with one of Kane’s brother. so they meet again. very interesting plot, very fast-paced and easy going read. did i mention that actually Kane is a guy who wants to marry and want a kid. and yup now he’s got a kid. BUT the only thing he needs to do is to convince Mari to stay with him. AHHH I COULDN’T SPOIL ANYTHING FOR YOU GUYS, you need to read this book. i swear you guys will love this book. very beautifully written plot and writing. you guys had no idea how obsessed i am with all side characters. like everyone in this book are just great. if you love some one night-stand, accidentally pregnant, family, strangers to friends to lovers. YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

Serena Bell does it again. I loved this book. I could not put it down and finished it in a day. I loved Kane & Mari's relationship. The Wilder clan sounds like an amazing family to be a part of. I cried and laughed out loud. This is the 4th book in the series and my first. It can be read as a stand alone. I will definitely be purchasing the first three books so I can get to know the Wilder clan better. Serena Bell is now an auto read author for me. 👏👏👏

When Marigold Barrymore finds herself pregnant after a wild night in Vegas, with a man she doesn’t know, she’s certain she will have to raise the child alone. She tries to locate the mystery man she met in Vegas, who changed her world, with no luck. She’s a wanderer at heart, so when she accepts she won’t find him she’s certain she knows what she wants to do with the baby, or is she? Especially when the thoughts of the man who quite honestly rocked her world stays in the front of her mind.

Kane Wilder is the boy next door, golden retriever boy. But after that wild night in Vegas with the woman who resembled a fairy, he’s not sure that’s who he really is. He’s finally come to terms with the fact that he won’t see her again. So imagine his surprise when he realizes the woman he’s been dreaming about suddenly stands before him.

When Mari gets a call to assist the Wilder family’s business, she had no idea she would run into the man she’s been longing for. How will she talk to him, will he understand, how will he react? To her surprise, Kane is the most understanding and respectful man. When it’s revealed he wants to try and convince her that they could raise the baby together, she’s uncertain. In the span of three weeks, Kane works hard to prove that this is something they can handle together, and to make her see that staying in Rush Creek, with him, could be the beginning of a dream life. And we know Wilder Brothers don’t give up when there is something they want.

My oh my, where can I find a man like Kane? The love and dynamic between Kane and Mari is something I really loved reading about. They truly accepted and wanted the best for each other, no matter what. Mari helped Kane see that his photography could be more than just a hobby, and something he could make a living from. And that his family would support him chasing his dreams. Kane helped Mari realize she’s not like her mother, and that there’s nothing wrong with settling down and staying at one place. Just because her mother couldn’t, doesn’t mean she is doomed the same fate.

I just want a man that loves me the way Kane loves Mari. A man who looks at me with so much adoration in his eyes. He truly is a dream.

This is the fourth book in the Wilder Adventures series. If you haven’t read the other I highly recommend you do. This was yet another amazing book by Serena Bell.

*I got this ARC on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* Thank you, so much! I absolutely devoured this book.

Marygold would have never thought that her future would have led her to Rush Creek, Kane would have never imagined wanting more than his job at his family company, that his hobby could be more than that. He had never hoped to want before her. Three weeks is the time he has asked her. Three weeks to show her that there is a chance for them.

You'd be a fool if you let the pregnancy trope discourage you from reading this book. A Little Wilder may seem solely about that but it's so much more. It's about finding yourself and having the courage to admit your fears and realise that the path to happiness leads out of your comfort zone.
If I wake up tomorrow and suddenly change my life, I know it'll be thanks to this book.

I absolutely adore how apparently they seem like totally wrong for one another. The boy-next-door with someone who wants to live her life on the road? Not a good fit. Except they are. They bring the good in each other, which is what love ultimately should do. Never did they try to "bring" the other to their side and try to make them change their ways. I love how that was never even thought of.

It was never acceptable. Kane has never tried to tame Mary. He wants her to be 100% sure about her decision. Three weeks may seem a short time to make a life-changing decision but when you find someone that shows you that what you've always wanted? It was within reach.

I love how their life together is the result of compromise. How they fully come into themselves thanks to the courage to dream and fight for said dreams that their love provided them.

I also absolutely loved the Wilder family's dynamic. How supportive they are and how they genuinely care about each other.

If you love a small-town romance, big family dynamic, low angst and cute romance that will inspire you, entertain you and make you swoon at the same time then this is the book for you.

This was a super cute quick wholesome read! I just love an accidental pregnancy trope so I had to pick this book up purely for that alone, and of course I devoured this in pretty much one sitting.

I really enjoyed the writing style, it was quick paced and easy to read with lots of fun moments, pop culture references and all the small town shenanigans.

Both Kane & Marigold where fantastic characters, they were both super soft and sweet together and had really good chemistry. I loved that there was minimal conflict between them and they easily solved problems by communicating with each other and making sure they were both on the same page eventually. It was nice to see them both supporting each others passions and how much Marigold encouraged Kane to pursue more of his dreams and become overall his own person.

Also I adored the whole Wilder family! They are bunch of crazies but man they were a lot of fun to read, I loved all the scenes they were in and how supportive they were towards Mari and really made her feel like she was apart of the family.

If you are looking for an easy, cute romance read then this is the book for you!
