But the vastness of the invading army and its unnatural allies spells disaster for the lands of Ea Uaré. With his purpose finally revealed, Fel’annár and The Company must arrive before the enemy can raze their city to the ground. But time is running out, and Aria, god of Bel’arán, must protect what lies hidden deep inside the Evergreen Wood. To avoid the unthinkable, she must use all her allies, even those still unknown to the first world. Can Fel’annár lead the elven army home in time, confront the greatest warrior he has ever faced? I'm R.K. Lander and I have always loved fantasy.

I read Tolkien and Hobb. I read Robert Jordan and Will Wight. I read all those classic fantasy books and when there was nothing left to read, I wrote my own stories, the ones I wanted to read but couldn't find.

I love epic fantasy. The battles, the creatures, the riveting stories and sweeping worlds. But I love the characters just as much. I love the intrigue, the politics, the strategy and the philosophy behind the magic systems. I love imaginary worlds that make sense, and I love characters that think logically.

I love exploring the depths of the warrior mindset. I love the emotions that life-changing events bring about, and if I can make my readers feel all those things, then that is what I most love about writing.

I hope you will read my stories and enjoy them, and if you do, I would love to hear from you.

The Sylvan Book 6, and I believe the final installment for this arc. Rumor has it that there will be another arc in this world. My kindle version clocks in at 900+ pages. If you are considering this series, for pity's sake don't start with this one! Nothing will make sense if you do.

Let me get some massive bellyaching out of the way first: Oh how I wish that a glossary of terms and a dramatis personae were included! There are tons of characters, most with multisyllabic names containing a couple of apostrophes. I had a heck of a time for a large portion of the book remembering who the character was and their particular significance. The same goes for the various terms and/or titles applied to different characters. I had forgotten what most of these meant. Some characters have several titles and/or terms that applied to them for either their position, their clan, their magical abilities, their vocation, or sometimes all of these combined. By titles or terms I don't mean Duke or Duchess, master or apprentice, but things like Ari’atór, Ber’anor, Ber’ator, et al. It's very confusing, and I read the first five books!! Out of the whole super-sized cast, I only remembered Fel’annár, Gor’sadén, Pan’assár, Hobin, Turion and Lainon; I could recall the last three probably because of their easy-to-retain names. I was well and truly stumped 🤔

With all of that said, by page 250-ish, I was up to snuff and became involved with the tale. Sometimes the characters conversed about something that happened in one of the previous books, or someone had an internal recollection of an event. Those were mightily helpful.

This series has always been somewhat on the emo side. And that's fine. Sometimes I'm in the right mood for something along those lines. This one, though, seemed to be a little more so than the others. That could either be due to the very high page count or it really was more angst-ridden. Maybe had it been shorter I wouldn't notice all of the emo behavior as much. Or perhaps it was the timing of all of this emotion that was the problem. For example, there is a significant battle and things are pretty darned dire. Under an unrelenting attack by a force a gazillion times bigger, somehow various characters found the breathing space to trade significant looks, share affectionate gestures, or attend to dying comrades and converse. These things kept tossing me right out of the story. It doesn't help that I habitually read Bernard Cornwell, the king of well-written battlescenes.

I don't want to give the impression that this was a terrible book, because it wasn't. I like the characters enough to tag along with them for six books. The storyline is good. The magic is interesting. The world-building is decent. The trees communicate with the MC. How cool is that!? And some elves can transform into animals. That's also very cool. The last 200 pages were terrific and addictive; I had a hard time putting the book down. So I liked it, with some reservations. If the author does publish another in this world I would read it. I'd rate it probably 3.5 stars, rounded up.

Well. I waited a long time for the conclusion of this extraordinary story and I wasn’t disappointed. The character growth in these characters was amazing! Most of all Handir, Fel, Rinon and their father, the King. The world building and the detail the author brings to this story is brilliant as well as the relationships between all of these exceptional characters. They each bring something different to the tale. I am a Handir fan. He is no warrior on the battlefield but he brings so much more through his brilliant and strategic mind. He’s also a sweetheart! Fel of course was extraordinary as always but my only complaint with him is that he is always the one getting hurt and everyone has to run to his aid and worry over him constantly. I do understand that the whole story is literally about him but it still annoyed me at times. So, I’m giving this 5 stars cause this is one of the best series I’ve read and I love everyone in it. R.K Lander is a fabulous writer and I plan on reading everything else she does from here on out.

This whole series is great, entertaining from beginning until the end. Lander has such a lovely, almost poetic way of writing. It's quite beautiful. I can't wait for more of her work.

A saga without peer

I loved the people in this story so much. They were so real, flaws as well as strengths. The vast panorama encompassing a nation divided by prejudice and how they move forward. A truly magnificent writing.

A most satisfying ending: Wow!

I loved the entire series but this one, this one, I felt deeply! R. K. Lander has such a skillful way of making you feel what the characters feel, and not just the main character, but all of them. Just like the ingredients in an amazing meal, she brings it all together to create a masterpiece. I savored it right to the last and then came the dessert!

What a fantastic ending to a wonderful series! All the loose ends were tied up. The writing was lyrical as usual, although I found all the nostalgia expressed just before the battle slowed the story down a bit too much. The proof reading was a problem though - especially the commas! It was like somebody had taken handfuls of commas and thrown them at the pages, not caring where they landed! Changed the meaning of many sentences, and I had to reread them to get the proper meaning.

Final showdown.

Once again Ruth out did herself, sending me on a journey I will never forget. So many years with the company, tears shed with them, the laughter, loyalty unequalled. Thank you Ruth, definitely a series I'll recommend, a series I'll read over and over. Here's to a new journey on the horizon.

Extraordinary Conclusion to an Incredible Series
The last installment in this incredible series does not disappoint. It ties everything together beautifully in an epic tale of love and loss. This is the nail-biting conclusion of a warrior's epic journey to unite his people and fulfill his god-given destiny. Not to be missed.

This one was long, and had absolutely everything, and I feel like I will need to listen to it again to get it all.

It was worth the wait.

I absolutely fell in love with Fel'annár and The Company. I read the whole series and this Author has pulled me into a world that I hated to leave when each book was finished. This is a series of books that makes you reflect about what is happening in your quiet times. I definitely recommend you read these books if you enjoy fantasy. Kudos to the Author.

Very interesting, enlightening and puzzling prologue. But the rest of the book is too wordy drowning the otherwise exciting story in repetitious details.

The battle in the north Ea Uare forest may be over and two more Nim’uans killed. But the last Nim’uan is attacking the Pelagians in the south intending to push northward to meet his brothers and conquer all Elvendom. But an unexpected ally is secretly working behind enemy lines to turn the tide of the war.

They spend way too much time talking and rehashing over old stuff and possibilities. Every time two people come together, they have review things over and over ad nauseum. It ruins a perfectly good story. Even the ending was ruined by it being spread out too long that it almost hides the important parts about Fel’annar. It feels like we’re experiencing the story in real time instead compressed. And of course, there’s the inevitable selfish bad guy who cares more for his agenda than the warfare of his people. This character really wasn’t even needed.

Fave Scenes: the hidden Pelagian kings, Fel’annar’s magic light, the fire sails and the Reel of Lan Taria.

A Beautiful and Great story!!

This series of books has captured a piece of my heart and soul in ways I can't explain. The pureness of the main characters and their work to serve and care for others before self, is a lesson for humanity. This series of books brought together so many qualities of human nature that are lost in current times that it's hard to list all. From honor and duty, to loyalty and redemption, and everything mixed in you will see the pureness in this series. The author has given birth to a world and culture that is similar to ours, but so far ahead without all the electronics. I pray the author does not forget this world she gave life to and revisits and let us look in with her. To truly understand my joy with this series I encourage you to buy it and experience a place you can live for a short time and feel refreshed and blessed until you come back 😊. Thank you to the author for this wonderful series.

THIS WAS SO FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!! What an epic ending!!!! This was so bitter sweet. We lost some amazing characters and some of the characters decisions were necessary but made me sad. I loved this series so much and I am so happy that I randomly found this and decided to give it a try. I adored these characters and I cried so much in this final installment. These characters have been through so much and the plot came so far and I was on the edge of my seat since book one. If you never read this and love fantasy I tell you to give this story a try. I haven’t mentioned names or much because you just have to go into it with nothing and experience this as I did. And listening to this in audio book was saur good. Daniel Thomas May brought this to life like no other. I enjoyed it so much more because of the narrator. I’m sad this is over but I’m so happy with the ending.

I struggled a lot with this one. To be honest I don't think this book should have been written. It's just the reiteration of the previous one. In the first half they prepare for war and in the second half they fight.

I usually enjoy the fighting scenes but in this one people had time to have long conversations, heart to hearts, come to terms with life decisions.

In the last few chapters the light is shed on all of the mysteries that we were wondering about up until then, but I very much doubt it was worth it.

In this one the lot of similar names were truly confusing, not to mention the inconsistencies at very end where somehow Fel'annár got 3 years older in one year, and several days passed in one afternoon...

I don't think I will follow the next series. At least not for some years.

I'm getting Cosmere vibes. I'm conflicted. It is good though.

Edit: To clarify, I half-expected the supernatural aspects of it were kept mysterious up to the very end; I did not expect it to be outright slammed into your face almost fully explained in the first couple of pages. It is still a good conclusion to the story, but I felt like the tension and mystery aspect was gone in the first chapter.

The traitor elves plot did feel like an afterthought to my eyes, I wish something more was done but maybe it was better that way? I don't know.

Destiny of a Prince: The Silvan Book 6

As with the other 5 books, this one was just as extraordinary. This book was more harder to get through than the others though. There were happy moments as well as deeply gut wrenching moments. Once you get to the last book, you are so familiar with the characters till they seem like a part of your everyday routine. So to loose some will affect you like no other. Great send off from the Silvan collection even though it took me longer to read than the others.

Brilliant, emotional, stunning

Having read the whole series, I loved the final tale in the saga. I laughed, cried, smiled and got angry at how life had treated the Company.

I'd love to read more of the Company and the new characters we met along the way and feel there needs to be a follow up or a spin off.

But no matter what I think these are stunning books, not always easy reads, but worth keeping going.

Thank you R.K. Lander

I've been EAGERLY waiting this book to gobble up this stunning conclusion to this series! And it didn't disappoint (though that ending definitely stuck with me for long after I closed the book, leading to one whopper of a book hangover).

This series is an elf epic fantasy/military fantasy series. It can get gritty at times, as fitting a military fantasy. But for really epic fight scenes, this series is unparalleled!

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible)

The final tale within this saga of love and betrayal, of friendship and enemy, of tumultuously war and supreme sacrifice.
It has been a long. long journey, but I must admit one that I have enjoyed every second of.
My thanks for the narrator's gift to bringing this tale to life. The pronunciations of names and places would have flummoxed me. The use of various voices giving true depth to this tale.

The End of It All

How to review this conclusion to the story of Green Sun? From the beginning as Fellanar discovered his knack to be a warrior to the crowning of him as Prince of Eu Uaré. Now, after unbelievable violence of a war to end all wars, there is peace and something for all to look forward to.

one of my favorite reads

This series has been a joy to read - it has the creativity of Tolkien and creates a world that resonates with the fantasy tales I have cherished the most. I am saddened that this series has ended but look forward to reading whatever this author has in store next.

Tears and laughter

This series of books has brought tears to my eyes and laughter to my lips. I have felt the sorrows and the joys of the characters. At the end of each book I have eagerly entered the next one. At the end of the series I could be content and I could wonder what next?
