Jason
When the nightmares that plague my dreams at night begin to affect my waking hours, too, I become exhausted. I try to hide my struggles, but I’m running out of options.
Jemma is pure—the light in my darkness. She brings out the best in me without even realising.
All I want is her.
But the feelings I harbour for her have the ability to ruin her: the closer I get to her, the more I’m likely to taint her innocence, even though I can’t seem to let go.
Can she be my saving grace as my demons grow bolder, helping me to heal old wounds, or will the monster I’m slowly becoming ruin any chance we have of happiness?
Only time will tell.

Fantastically, written and so sensitive to people who suffer with PTSD you should be proud of yourself with this one . I loved thisread but I have loved each book in this series so far.
I was captured from the very beginning with how the story pulls at your emotions with the struggles Jason faces everyday and the progress at which he’s helped through.
Jason is a former soldier who was discharged for PTSD and he suffers on a daily basis , Jemma is a nerdy book worm who has just graduated to be a psychologist , but lust / love blossoms between the two.
I can’t wait to read more and see whats install for the next book.

I was given the first peek into this book and I am absolutely blown away by K.J. Ellis and her incredible talent! She has once again written a gripping and suspenseful story with some absolute filth thrown in!
I cannot wait for the world to read it and fall in love with Jason just as I have!

I’m a lover of this series and look forward to each new book. This one really pulled at my emotions, so much so that I could literally felt the pain and suffering Jason was going thru. He is struggling with PTSD, and anyone who knows about it can understand the whirlwind of emotions he is going thru. Jemma and Jason have been friends for quite some time, and while they both have feelings for each other, they both hide them from each other. Until one night, all that changes. But with Jason’s issues can Jemma handle him?
These two are so perfect for each other. They both ground the other and will do anything for each other. Jemma is such a breath of fresh air, so kind, so loving and when it comes to Jason, so protective. Jason wants to get better and with Jemma’s help, I hoped and prayed it would all work out between them. Oh, and let me mention how smoking hot these two are! My fingers burned as I turned the pages!!
PTSD is a very real ailment and this author handled this story with such grace and dignity. She shows that even though he is having a hard time, that with help and love, he can handle it. I highly recommend reading this story and the entire series. I couldn’t put it down until every last word was read. It really is incredible!

Omg, I think Jason may be my new favourite. I just wanted to climb into the book and hug him. I adored how KJ delved into a real issue with PTSD, it's not spoken about a lot especially with veterans, but it can happen to anyone. The detail she went into about his experience is amazing, it's so realistic as it could be what someone who served experienced.
I've been waiting for Jason's book as he's always intrigued me and now I know why, behind his darkness he is a fierce protector and cares for his family the best he can while fighting his mind.
Jemma has always come across as the quiet and reserved one of the group, but I enjoyed learning more about her and her family.
There are some characters I want to know more about, and I adored the bonus epilogue, it's got me hooked and wanting to see who is next in this series.
Highly recommend this series and the wonderful author her books are addictive.

This was a good read, the 4th book of the Counterpunch series.
Jason has been around for a few books now, not too much was known about him until we had Saxons book, but still we didn’t get to know the really Jason.
His past is full of trauma, which isn’t ready to let go of him. In denial of his PTSD thing start to spiral out of control.
Jemma spends so much time around Jason yet he doesn’t seem to see her, or so she thinks, she certainly sees him.
Soon they both see one another, and not all in ways that’s that’s expected.
Touching on PTSD in this one makes for a tough read at times, covering both POV of being in certain circumstances brought on by episodes of mental breakdown.
Jemma is prepared to stand by him no matter what, he’s worth saving. Jason just needs to believe that.

Gahhhhh!
I didn’t think I could love Jason anymore, but finding out his back story as well as his intense need to protect those around him, he just becomes the damaged alpha everyone wants.
Jemma has what she thinks is a secret crush on Jason yet her friends can see it, except Jason!
They come together, yet the broken side of Jason pushes them apart. Jemma won’t back down without a fight and I love this story as it shows that people can overcome their past, with the right support in their corner!

I have loved each and every one of the Counterpunch Series by Kj Ellis and each and every time I feel like the characters are my favourites and this one is no different.
Jemma and Jason just got into my heart from the first chapters.
Jason is suffering with PTSD which is getting worse and worse but he could never imagine that friend Jemma could maybe his salvation.
If you want a story with a great well written storyline, fantastic characters, that's got angst, emotions, and some hotness then this is the book for you!

Oh my gosh this book. My poor poor heart. So many emotions. So much turmoil. K.j did it again. From previous books I knew there was more to Jason than met the eye but hell... to get the characters perspective... honestly my heart broke... the groups dynamic keeps on changing but my gosh it's for the better 🥰 I love these guys so much each visit with another of them is like a family reunion and it makes my heart happy. Be ready with tissues for the heartache but prepared for many a laughs and the steamy scenes too😉

Jason and Jemma's story is an emotional and captivating journey. These two will capture the reader's hearts and minds. These two endeared themselves to me, him with his struggles with PTSD and her with her unwavering devotion. I loved reading their book and visiting all the other characters as well, it seemed as if I was visiting dear friends while reading. I've come to love all of the couple in the counterpunch series and am eager for Jaxon's story as well.

K.J Ellis you have done it again with another amazing book!!! I love Jason's book!!! Yes I laughed at times but also you had me in tears as well!!!
Jason and Jemma's story is one that shows you no matter what is happening you stick together through it all. Jason has PTSD and he lets it get the better of him but Jemma is there to get him through it!!!

This is yet another fantastic book in the Counterpunch series. This one touched my heart. KJ's style of writing will capture you from the very beginning and the story will stay with you long after you've closed the book. You can't help but feel for Jason as he struggles with his demons. Can Jemma help to save him, or are his monsters too much to handle. Grab yourself some tissues and read this one. You'll be glad you did.

I love KJ and this book series. I'll admit this book was tough for me to read at times due to some things from my past BUT that is my own struggle and this is still an amazing book.
Jason struggles with PTSD after being in the military and its something he works hard to deal with. Jemma is his light in the dark and isn't scared to help an be there for Jason.
Their chemistry an relationship is magical.
They both work hard and support eachother 1000%

Oh I absolutely love Jason & Jemma’s story .
The delicious angst got me so good .
These characters are amazing, you fall for them instantly. Your heart will definitely bleed for Jason , & you will beg for him to let Jemma be his salvation .

Oh man, oh man I have a new favourite in this series, and it is Jason hands down. He is so troubled and broken. There a few things that bring me to tears, but his story did.

Every book in this series gets better and better. Jason has become my new favourite. I loved the vulnerability he showed in this story, the diary entries, and the way he loved Jemma. It was all perfect. A fabulous 5 stars!

Jase and Jenma
Amazing read with phenomenal characters, emotional ups and downs, growth and strength, witty humor and banter amongst characters past and present with their own built family, and sizzling chemistry for the cherry on top. Definitely a must read and can't wait for more by this author.

Aww Jason ❤️ I've been waiting for Jason's story to find out more about him since the first book! He has been through a lot with his time in the army and his problems have caught up to him and now he has to face them head on with the help of Jemma! I loved these two together 💚💚
