Copeland City is being terrorized by a new killer.
He targets women in their twenties, kills them with a cowardly cocktail of drugs direct to their veins, then leaves a slew of clues for me to unearth on my medical examination table.
It’s purely coincidental that I match his victim's profiles.
If only Archer Malone, lead detective and the man currently occupying my bed, would believe the same.
Archer’s friend is dead, a woman is lost, a family destroyed, so emotions are sure to run high as we work together to bring closure to those who need it the most.
Will the scales of justice tip as we search to protect the ones we love? Or will Copeland’s own vigilante step in and take care of business on our behalf?

I was engrossed so much in this part also! Strong and smart characters, wonderful dynamics of relationships, twists and turns, suspense and mystery!!!!
Characters who jump off of the pages, plots that twist and turn in ways you don’t see coming, relationships that evolve, moments that make you laugh and others that hurt your heart… these are all aspects that Emilia Finn uses to craft her books. It doesn’t matter what kind of book she’s writing, or if the characters are new or recurring, she manages to put together the perfect combinations to create a masterpiece EVERY SINGLE time.
Her new series, Mayet Justice is a romantic suspense series that has hints of Stephanie Plum, although Dr Minka Mayet is amazing at her job, and not inept as Ms Plum. The humor and witty banter, goofy but lovable players, and the chemistry of the cast of characters will keep you entertained and hooked, begging for rereads before the next in the series is released.
This can be read as a standalone, but the series builds on itself and will make way more sense if read in order.
Firstly, read this series in order, as it's ongoing. The romance isn't resolved, neither is one investigation. There are plenty of characters who are obviously deserving of relationships, and these I assume, are being slowly set up for future books. I think there are at least 10 books so far.
There are steamy romance scenes, plus lots of slow burn chemistry between the H/h and you can feel their connection. The writing is good, but the characters are a reflection of all the author's previous heros and heroines, when it comes to speech, mannerisms, personality, etc. The men are super protective - naturally.
At this point I'm not much of a fan of Minka, but I'm hoping she'll grow on me. There's so much banter between the main and secondary characters, that it seems overwhelming at times. I admit I did skim occasionally, because of the 'yes/no', back and forth re the romance. Its quite stormy and there are many secrets being withheld. The back plot, based around homicides and their investigations, is fast moving and entertaining.
Archer is a homicide detective and Minka is the new chief medical examiner for their city. The author has a great imagination and clearly does lots of research, but I did guess who the unsub was early on. (I've been reading heaps of suspense and thrillers lately, so I'm getting much better at guessing). 3.5 stars.
PS - I'm looking forward to burgers with beetroot and egg next time I go to the US... 🤣🤣 (Australian authors rock)
Very intriguing. The push and pull between these two is hair pulling and frustrating. And not in a sexy “cat and mouse” way. Its annoying. With that being said, I’m still hooked and want to see how this plays now that a bomb has been dropped. I missed Tim this time around. He needs more pages. Hopefully there will be in book 3. 3*still interested but teetering*stars!!!!
How do you do it!!! I never thought I could be drawn to another series after the Rollers!!!! Even if that next series was written by you, but common on!!!!
ONTHE EDGE OF MY SEAT TILL THE LAST F-ING SENTENCE!!!!!!!
I love you!!! You’re the queen, the rockstar, the GOAT, shit you’re a MF-ING LEGEND!!!!
Is there anyway you can pump the releases out faster, write faster, and deliver these books faster!!! We’re all hooked on you and your mind and these damn stories!!!! I can’t wait for the next BOOK!!! Keeping it coming!!!!
Omg. This book is heart-racing, nail biting, nonstop page turning incredible. I really loved the clue drops in this one. I knew Minka had figured out the killer before the cops in just 1 scene but then... wow. When they finally figure it out... the drama! I love how this starts out and picks up. I love Aubri and Tim in this story. Archer is stealing my heart... and then it ends. Gah. The addition of physical presence of Minka's new staff, YES! I love that the clues are there and it takes you all the way through the story arc to find out if you guess right. I love it! Fantastic writing, as usual. I'm so excited for the next story!
Well at least that answers the question as to why she keeps pushing back. It was there in book one, and solidified in book two. I was surprised Finn dropped it in book two but it does make the back and forth easier to understand. Her constantly saying no even though she wants to say yes, to Archer, was starting to drag.
This latest mystery was well played and brought back parts of characters from previous books. A great way to tie stories together. The reveal did seem abrupt with not a lot of foreshadowing for the reader to figure it out. Just bam, here is the killer.
I can’t wait to see how Archer handles her reveal, will he stay or will justice win out.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The only problem with book 1 was Minka is a witch with a capital B. She is rude and obnoxious. Well, that and Archer not understanding the word no. She is less obnoxious in this book, and I suspect she'll continue to become less so as she accepts her relationships with Archer and Aubree.
The crime in book 1 was more interesting than the crime in this book, IMO.
I am going to read another book or two, but I hope the constant push and pull between the MCs becomes less repetitive and annoying.
This is the writing l love Emilia Finn for. The story moves at a good pace and the support characters are as equally engaging as the two main characters Minka and Archer. The murder case kept me guessing and l didn't work out who he/she was. We meet the new mayor Justin and I'm really hoping we get his story. And who is Justice!
This is book 2 in the series and must be read in order.
Plot: 2 - lackluster Spice: 2 - pretty forgetable Overall 2 - I honestly can't remember much about and I just read this book.
Struggled to finish it. These characters just don't draw me in. They're are ok. Plot is thin, murder-mystery element has gotten repetative rather than moving forward throughout the story. I found myself skimming chapters to just get on with it. Once again, the FMC is just mean, b*tchy. There's "guarded" and then there's "b*tch" and she's simply a b*tch. MMC, as described, seems great, but as the story has progressed, he quickly becomes forgettable. I remember more about Fletch, the male supporting character than I do about the FMC & MMC. Once again, like in Sinful Justice (Book 1) the supporting female is just straight up annoying. Her energy reminds me of those mini-poodles that people dye different colors, twitchy, jumpy, clingy, and unnaturally forced to be cute. Spoilers on Insta hint that our Mayet has a special 'justice' to her brand, but it hasn't even been hinted at in book 1, and I'm not going to elaborate on further to avoide potential spoilers. With how short these books are, I would expect 'more' - more plot, more sizzle, more fun back-&-forth between characters, more susbstance. Instead, it just feels like words on a page and that the first two books could have easily been heavily edited and combined into one more cohesive story.
I won't be continuing this series even though I did finish the book. And honestly, I can't even remember the characters names right now as i polish my review. I don't think that bodes well in general for my personal enjoyment of the series. I'll happily try a few more of Emilia Finn's books. but this series just did not do it for me.
Boom mind blown away yet again by another emilia finn! At this point I don't know why I'm so surprised. Every book is amazing. And this one is no different. You are hooked from the first page to the last and every page in-between. This was an amazingly compelling story with gripping characters and twists and turns you only thought you saw coming. And everytime you think you know.. you don't! You make us fall for these complex characters and their lives and we feel what they feel. And that last few pages had me reeling! The last few paragraphs! I just about died and wound up on Minkas table! Oh what a brilliant, genius, mastermind you are to leave us like that! Sept 2 can't come soon enough! Loved it. As always!
This book was a tad bit better than the first one. Again the suspense was not really intriguing. I'm still waiting to connect to the characters. Archer is seriously unbearable and I really hope he changes or grows up in the future books. Minka was like a pendulum in this book, sometimes likeable sometimes not. Aubrey was still her annoying self, Tim and Fletcher are so far my favourites
Some of the lines of the book which I came across
"Remind Minka I'm the best she'll ever get. Because I'm the only fucking option she gets to explore"
"I won't accept no for an answer " (This was in book 1 I guess)
And since I am a stubborn mule I'm reading the third book now
I wanted to sit down and and write a thoughtful review that conveys the awesomeness of this book and this new series by Emilia Finn, but the ending scene has completely short circuited my brain, and I can no longer function!! Holy Toledo, Batman!🤣 Ms. Finn is the queen of suspense and plot twists! I love these characters so much! They are well developed just enough to be relatable and intriguing, while still having a little mystery about them. The chemistry between Minka and Archer sizzles off the page, and the banter with them and all the others makes the book impossible to put down!! I’ve never been more thankful that this author releases her books so close together, because I absolutely cannot wait for the next ride on this roller coaster!! What a 5 star experience!! Sign me up for the next one!!
Crime doesn’t sleep and neither does this team! The team is meshing. Minka is reluctantly accepting people into her life and (gasp) making friends. Archer is proving why he is a superior book boyfriend. The banter is top notch. The suspense and mystery is on point.
I love that Emilia has written this series from multiple points of view so you get the full realm of experience. We learn more about each character and it feel like there is more than one main couple. Each book is also a continuation of the prior book as the storyline and development builds in each installment. Don’t skip this series!
Okay first off the first few pages threw me off.. Chloe the cat 😂 that got me ! Sooooo many twists! Never did I think it would be the transport guy.. I guess I should say spoilers? I can’t help it this was so good I was gripped!!! Stray animals seriously?! But also right in front of a media circus?! He really was insane ! And that ending.. no spoilers there because YOU NEED TO READ THIS!!!! Emilia’s done it again.. I’m on to the next I need to know what happens!!!
Minka Mayer is just absolutely amazing and I love everything about this book. Come along for another crazy and wild ride in the George Stanley where crimes get solve with the best team around. You get your does of the great detectives Archer and Flecher and cannot for Aubree Emeriee....then we have grumpy Tim don't forget.
Start with book 1 Sinful Justice where this story takes off and you won't be sorry!!! Excellent books by the amazing Emilia Finn
You had me at Chloe in the first chapter ngl. I was tempted to stop reading as such dramas ain’t my thing but kept going for the murders but that went downhill & the romance picked up. Murders were brutal but killer, predictable. I hope Mayet being part of every Criminal-Detective faceoff ain’t staple cause that’s unreal & annoying. Mayor made sense given the location but this felt forced. There’s some dragging, unrealistic & predictable plot lines but my fav genres all in one make me a bit biased & hooked.
I shouldn’t be shocked that Emilia Finn can write a whole new group of characters and new town and have it be a 5 star right out the gate , BUT she has and book 2 DOES NOT DISAPPOINT..wow !! And even though the ending of the book #2 wasn’t really a surprise l it still had the HOLY SH@t moment !! I’m gonna say it again you can’t go wrong reading Emilia Finn’s books !!
Only Emilia Finn can leave me hanging on a ledge, and keep me coming back. I hate cliffhangers- and yet- I can’t imagine this book ending a different way. Minka, Archer, Aubree, Fletch, and Tim keep me laughing and keep me swooning. So exciting to have new/old characters join in the mix of Copeland City in ways I absolutely didn’t see coming. I absolutely love this series.
When I started reading your Rollin On series, I was hooked. The strong characters, the love and the storyline itself were simply amazing. I have read all your book series that followed. When I saw this series I had to pick it up. You do not disappoint. Thank you for giving me such a fascinating world to escape to. I have to force myself to put your books down so I can get some sleep. I can’t wait to finish this series.
So much to learn about about Minka, Tim, Fletcher, Archer and Aubree, and this second book gives you another taste of this exquisite new world. 5 stars are never enough for Emilia Finn’s books, and this was no exception. I love that Archer is pursuing even when Minka fights it every step of the way. Their snark and banter makes me laugh out loud. And that ending!!! OMG, mike drop amazing.
Minka has some truths and independence that has Archer wondering what he sees in her. This murder scene is getting out of hand and it seems that the police isn’t getting closer to figuring out who the murderer is. There is a whole lot of characters I love and we get to see them interact together and help her out more which help us get to know Minka more.
Minka, Archer and their cast of characters are at it again. Will they catch the killer taunting the city? Will their relationship become more than working together? Will the vigilante strike again? Questions are answered and decisions are made. Don’t miss out on this epic follow up to Book 1. Can’t wait for #3!!
This 2nd book in the Mayet Justice series brings intense drama and suspense. A serial killer injecting young women will a deadly cocktail of drugs that kills them within minutes is terrorizing the city. Three deaths in 3 days and Dr. Mayet and crew are determined to solve the crime.
A roller-coaster ride of suspense emotion and fun!
In the second book of the series, minka and Archer are tracking a killer who kills women by injecting them with a cocktail that kills. The extreme chemistry between Minka and Archer burns the page. It raw and potent. Everything we need in a romantic thriller!
What a story….Emilia continues the story of Minka and Archer and the delicious Copeland crew picking up where she left off. Murder, who-done-it, Passion and decisions make for an angsty story! Toss in some will they-won’t they and you have the makings of another #1 novel. Wherever Minka and Archer go next I’m along for the ride!
Okay Minka kinda getting on my nerves...... but I'll let it slide obviously because she's a badass but she also comes off as a cry baby every now and then.
Side note - Aubree is my girl and I will fight tooth and nail for her. Tim needs to get his act together. Also Fletchie being Aubree's bestie is the side plot I love to see.
