The first book didn't convinced me, but as I'm a sucker for retellings, should give it a try.
This is even worse than the first.
The only thing that I like about this short story, was this line:
“I am what I am.” If he was the type to shrug, I had a feeling he would right now, as if what he said was the simplest of facts. “I've seen humans come and go through these parts over the decades. I learned their language, listened to the stories they told each other, and learned about their world. They would call me a monster, but the things I’ve heard these men say, the way they spoke of their females… and they are the ones that are the beasts.”
Marcella is alone in the world, after her grandmother death, so she decided to travel, to an isolate island.
Who does that? After this is stupid scenes after another.
Sometimes, when the plot is that stupid, it might go for the laugh instead.
Not in this case.
It could be steamy, but it isn't.
It's repulsive in some cases.
I don't have unfinished books, I'm so naive, that I'm always hoping for them to get better.
Sometimes, they are plain awful, from the start to the end.
2,4 stars, because I did enjoy one thing or another.

Lorddddd have mercyyyy!!!! I love when Jenika does monster books because this one hits the SPOT!!!
Marcella just finished burying her grandmother the one person who has been in her life..I felt so bad for her since now she’s alone and trying to figure out what to do. But she goes on a little trip a little camping in the woods in a cabin kinda trip, nature and some time alone from the city is what the doctor order so when she gets there there is few hiccups but nothing to bad until she hears something near her window but doesn’t see it. Enter Pervy horny Wolf lol I swear this monster made me laugh with this thoughts.
He was hooked on his lil mate since he saw her yes he didn’t take no for a answer and showed her all the things he could do for her, even when she pulled away. Wolf has to be my fave monster jenika has written plus his Edward vibes of watching her sleep and doing some dirty dirty things to her heheh.
I hope you all enjoy this couple

Well another quick and smutty retelling that I enjoyedbut not as much as the first one! Little Red Riding Hood. In our story, Marcella has buried her grandmother and wanted a fresh vacation to moor her grieving feelings, well poor Marcella didn’t know that in the wilds of Alaska a sort of hybrid man/wolf is persuaded that she’s his—its— mate.
I liked both the protagonists but Wolf carried the book! He—it— was surprisingly very funny and a lot carrying with Marcella seeing as he has lived as a recluse for most of his existence in the woods.
All in all, there was a lot of Caliente scenes and I enjoyed every single one, heh.

This is the second book in the Monsters and Beauties series and features Marcella and Wolf. Marcella has just buried her grandmother and has no one in her life that means anything anymore. She decides to take a trip in the woods and ends up in the claws of the Wolf who has claimed her as his mate.
Wolf was set on showing her how good they can be together and refuses to take no for an answer. It's going to take some convincing on Marcella's end but the more time she spends with him, the more enamored with him she becomes.
This was straight monster smut with some kinky fuckery and while I'm not complaining, there was a lot lacking for me.
1. What was Wolf's name? It couldn't have just been Wolf...right?
2. If he has been around for as long as he says he has then he must be immortal or close to immortal and Marcella is human...how does that work out?
3. Are they just gonna live in a cave forever and eat animals Wolf kills? I mean this seems unsustainable lol.
4. What happens when she gives birth? Seems dangerous.
I wanted more explanation about Wolf and his world and what it means to be his mate now and in the future. I guess I just wanted a plot....
Because there wasn't one.
But if you don't care about plot and just want some dirty monster smut, then go for it!

The Big Bad Wolf never looked so good
And so duuuurty. Jeeezus. Jenika knows how to write $mut! And with one of the most well-known villains out of our childhoods nonetheless😉. But this big, bad wolf is only bad to other people, never to his mate💁🏻♀️.
Marcella (22) just lost her grandmother and got a small inheritance from her. She decides she wants to escape life for a little bit and go camping, something she used to do a lot when she was younger and she’s always loved to do. She goes to Alaska and rents out a small cabin that has limited resources, but it’s fine since she’s used to that when it comes to camping. Little did she know that there’s a wolf watching her, one who wants her, one who’s gonna make her his 👀.
Wolf has found his mate. While she’s sleeping, he makes sure to mark his territory, so that no predators try to get near her.
He also HAS to mark her body too 🤷🏻♀️. It comes with the territory, pun intended 💁🏻♀️.
So what happens when she discovers that the tingly feeling she’s had is something with big eyes and big teeth 👀😅.
What I loved:
—how OTT 👏🏻 O B S E S S E D👏🏻 Wolf is. He’s protective and seductive but also sweet and cunning. This man can un alive with his claws but can also love with his… tongue? Snout? How about heart 🥹❤️.
—big eyes and big teeth? Yeah. All to benefit Marcella. To protect her, comfort her, cherish her, and k!ll any predators trying to take her away 💁🏻♀️
—the tension 🔥. In such a short book, we get delicious tension. Marcella doesn’t realize that Wolf is really packing (ahem… all the puns intended 😅😉😉😉) when it comes to seducing her 👀
—the duuuurty duuurty talk 🥵. Good LAWD. Wolf. Wolf. Where ya been you beastly man you? You represent and howl dirty words like it’s your RELIGION 💦🔥. Dominant, dirty and a BIG D. All those D’s are deathly to any V, and Marcella wasn’t expecting it (shoot. Neither was I 😅🥵)
—the smeex. Well, if the dirty talk is that good, then so is the 🔥. Sure, Wolf doesn’t have a human mouth, but he has a tongue, teeth, and… he uses them to his advantage😅. And… annnnnd… he has a tail 😈. Oh yes. Whatever you imagine, he does 💦😉. No man can complete 🤷🏻♀️. Not to mention, his d is ribbed for her pl€asure 👀 with a knot? 🫠. Forget it human men. The FMC is curvy/plus size and is confident… but she is also comfortable in her skin/size/herself.
A retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.
Quick read.
➖ What I disliked :
The MMC was too beastly even for a monster romance (both in appearance and the way he treated the FMC)
Weird and disjointed pacing.
Super insta-lust/love.
Very thin plot.
Repetitive.
Too over the top. (Even for a monster romance.)
Dub-con/CNC.
Monotonous smut/dirty talk.
The FMC was too naive/foolish.
The main characters lacked depth and background/character development. (Especially the MMC.)
Both main character lacked any kind of real personality (Especially the MMC.)
But also the FMC what little personality we got to see from her was all about her being curvy/plus sized and that she accepted/loved her body (which is always a very good thing and a needed thing) and I love to read about plus sized/curvy heroines that are confident/self-assured and have a strong/bold/positive attitude etc.
But this FMC personality was all about her size and nothing else…
(A characters size/shape/looks should not be their entire personality or define their personality no matter what they look like…It makes a very uninteresting and one-dimensional character.)

Wolf is a werewolf born on the island, and as soon as he spies Marcella he knows she’s his mate and he doesn’t waste any time to mark her. As in cover her sleeping form with jizz.
Then he kidnaps and roughly seduces her until she gives in to her own desires no matter how wrong. Because the thing is, this werewolf doesn’t change into a man, it’s all wolf man, all the time. Can you say beastiality?
It was a quick entertaining read brimming with the filthiest sex and a few crazy moments. If you like your FMC on the plus side and your MMC a beastly alphahole with an impressive member then this is definitely for you!

I know it’s a romance book and that means a guaranteed HEA but I was rooting for the main character to die LOL
I mean for the love of god who in their right mind would decide that, after an emotional family death, it’s a good idea to spend a weekend in wild Alaska, a place you’ve never been, without any of the necessary skills?
Like I’m not even joking after her grandmother dies, our main character decides “I want a vacation far from civilization” and travels to some random hunting cabin on an island nearly untouched, without electricity, running water, any way off the island, or anyway to contact anyone for help. and she does this alone?? unable to even start a fire by herself?? this guy for real drops her off 30 minutes BY BOAT away from help and is like “right I’ll see you in 5 days don’t die or whatever” and girlie is like “this’ll be fun” and while on this uninhabited island, she starts touching random mushrooms in the wilderness and then her hand burns (it’s a mild detail that doesn’t matter in the long run but GIRL ARE YOU FR?)
anyway then she meets a werewolf and starts having sex with him (good for her) and the guy with the boat comes back to pick her up and homegirl is like “actually I’m staying, be safe though” and he eventually lets her leave? like I’d call a psychiatrist ain’t no way im letting you live on this uninhabited island alone?

So.... maybe reading two monster romance in a row wasn’t the smartest thing to do.
I found some things a bit ripetive.
In the end i liked it but not as much as the first one in the series. It was still freaking steamy but something missed.
I appreciated the Wolf and his taking care of Marcella,he was kinda sweet; i don't know what to think about Marcella tho.
So.... maybe reading two monster romance in a row wasn’t the smartest thing to do.
I found some things a bit ripetive.
In the end i liked it but not as much as the first one in the series. It was still freaking steamy but something missed.

Jenika is turning me into a monster romance lover. I have never read this trope before Jenika, and I am absolutely obsessed now. Omg.
The Beast was phenomenal. The Hunter? This second book in her Monsters and Beauties series, is SO FREAKING GOOD! The alpha-protective Wolf with his Marcella is a marvelous retelling of Little Red Riding Hood; and I have to agree with everyone else who says Jenika needs to rewrite all of our childhood stories; because she does it so perfectly.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I am living for this!

Holy...I don't even know what.
I have never read anything like this book in my entire life. The wolf in this story is not a shifter...he is not human. He is quite literally a beast.
If you read the original Little Red Riding Hood , this book will absolutely make you never see that story the same way again! I don't know what it says about me, but I enjoyed that heck out of it. Wolf was the epitome of the alpha male.
From the moment he saw Marcella, he knew he needed to make her his. Marcella's grandmother has just died, the only person she really cared about and who really cared about her. So she decides to take a trip to Alaska to a place where she would have no electricity, no running water...no big city comforts. It isn't long before Wolf finds her and makes her his. I loved the alpha quality to his character. This book is EXTREMELY spicy.... I do wish there would've been more chase, more struggle, even from external factors threatening Marcella and Wolf.
This was a super spicy read and a unique one. I'm loving this Monsters & Beauties series from Jenika Snow. Can't wait to see where she goes with it next!

Disappointed. There was nothing to this whatsoever. No plot, and the monster smut was a let down. Marcella and Wolf had no depth to either character but Wolf especially had no background or character development. There was so much unanswered. It was meh.

Quick, spicy and totally wild!
4⭐️'s and 4🌶️'s! Legitimately wild! Set in Alaskan wilderness, shacked up in a cave ... so much bodily fluid! But hey … it was fun!
What I like most about the The Hunter is that character development seemed to be improved. Even within the short 150 pages, there is a complexity to both Wolf, Marcella and their relationship that seemed to be missing from The Beast. Don't get me wrong, it's mostly straight, monster smut but I liked the attention to detail in this one.
Overall, I'm honestly in love with these novella's and I'm really hoping the next one, Primal, isn't going to be the last.

three stars! ⋆ ˚｡⋆୨୧˚ i thought this came out later this year so i was really excited to see that it was released a few days ago lol i immediately bought it and it did not disappoint! i definitely enjoyed the first one a bit more (maybe bc i’m definitely a beauty and the beast girly and love all retellings) but this one was still pretty damn hot. i’m also obsessed with the fact that it’s plus size girlies in these books bc i just love seeing that representation lol. read this in like 30ish minutes and whew… was it hot 🤧

The Hunter, also known as, an obsessive alpha-male furry hooks up with a lonely orphan diagnosed with Stockholm syndrome.
I mean, what could go wrong there, am I right? Seems pretty normal and definitely not controversial. The Little Red Riding Hood used to be my favourite fairytale but now–hmm, I'm not too sure.
I'm actually going to cry because I definitely am not the target audience for this. I thought that this was going to be a fun and dark retelling of Little Red Riding Hood but I am gravely ashamed for thinking that this was. I am erasing the PDF from my computer and I hope this eradicates from the face of the Earth.
I am taking Marcella to the next asylum nearby because who the hell falls in love with a massive animal with a giant erection in just THREE DAYS. YOU MUST BE JOKING. THIS BOOK HAS TO BE A JOKE BECAUSE I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT GENUINELY ENJOY THIS BOOK.

This one was at least two notches steamier than Book 1 despite the fairy tale reimagining actually happening within the setting of our contemporary world. The setting confounded me a bit in the first chapters and I had difficulty to get into the story. However, the excellent smut writing of JS eventually got to me and I ended enjoying the story and fanning myself a lot 😳. I would have enjoyed it even more if Marcella's pov during sex scenes were more proeminent. As is, I think the author had a great kick in having Wolf's pov 😆.
Totally recommended if you are a fan of monster breeding trope with lots of 💦💦 and primal play. Fair warning, set aside any hygiene or practicality expectations - just embrace the hot smut as is 😉.
P.S. Loved the cute little drawings at the start of each chapter!
