This book started out as a single chapter written and posted to my Facebook profile. The response to that single story was overwhelming and I continued to write and post a chapter a day for what ended up being a total of 70 days. Each story built on the last and brought the reader further into the lives of John and Sarah who lived alone in a small cove (Ben Batt's Cove) on Little Bay Islands, Newfoundland. Each morning, I would write a new chapter and post it to Facebook. What started out with a few readers turned into thousands who became enchanted with both the place and the characters in the story. Each chapter was commented on hundreds of times and "liked" by many, many more. The readers became participants in the story and helped me steer the direction of what is now, my first book.

Although I wrote the words, I feel like this is very much a collaboration between me, the author, and those original readers. This book is for those readers.

I absolutely loved this book! The writing was brilliant and I found myself smiling and/or shaking my head as I was drawn into the descriptions in each of the scenes. I had to read certain paragraphs out loud to my husband just for the pleasure of seeing his response, which was Wow! every time. The characters were so well developed—John, Sarah, Mary, and Phillip felt more like family than characters in a book! Each of their stories were poignant and touching and will stay with me for a while, I’m sure. Thank you, Mike Parsons for sharing this fabulous tale of love, joy, sadness, and treachery with us all! I am now gifting this book to a friend who is one of the author’s ardent followers, and who introduced me to his story and his FB page!

Great Newfoundland story.Awesome read for people up in age.Brought back a lot of memories of growing up in rural Newfoundland.If you are from Newfoundland and Labrador or have a connection to the island,I highly recommend this book from a new and talented writer.Mike please keep writing.
