Iron Creek Brides #7

The Baker's Mail Order Miracle

Rate this book
Love knows what it is doing – and fate is just along for the ride.
Wesley Baker has brought more than just his hopes with him to Iron Creek — he carries his half-broken heart in tow as well.
Once, he had traveled the length of the country to meet the woman he had hoped to marry, only to bitterly discover that her entire existence had been a con, as he was attacked by a ruthless gang of bandits waiting to rob him of everything he had.
Since then, Wesley somehow managed to pick up what was left of his life and shattered heart, and find his way to the small town of Iron Creek, where he hopes to establish a bakery of his own.
Wesley is determined not to make the same mistakes again — but as those around him continue to find love through mail-order brides, Wesley decides to risk his heart one last time.
But surely it would take a miracle for one man to find his perfect woman twice in a lifetime?
Clarice Hampton has had enough.
After years of living with her wicked, unruly brothers, Clarice knows there is no limit to how low they will stoop, in order to trick innocent folk out of their pockets — forcing Clarice to help them along the way.
But enough is enough.
Now, Clarice is determined to find a better life for herself, one where she isn’t forced to cheat and steal to survive.
And marriage to one charming baker in Iron Creek might just be her chance — if only her shaded past doesn’t get in the way first.
The Baker’s Mail Order Miracle is a captivating tale of fate, heartache, and true love. Will Clarice ever escape her cutthroat family and find happiness with Wesley? Or have her cruel brothers done more damage to her future than she even realizes?

she had 4 older brothers, they made her answer ads for mail order brides. she lured the men there so the brothers could beat and rob them. she didnt want to

she fell in love with one of the men and he was beaten very badly. a baker took him in and taught him and he eventually opened his own bakery

he was afraid to write to any more women but was convinced. he wrote to her not knowing who she was and she didnt put it together until just before she was to sneak out. one of her brothers had a girlfriend, he didnt want to do the crimes either so they ran off together

she went to the town where the baker lives and confessed. he got very upset
she, her brother and the woman he married moved to a small town down the road
but her other 3 brothers came after them. they beat the good brother and dragged the 2 women back home, forcing them both to write the letters

the baker got the sheriff to help him find them. the good brother turned himself in

they went and rescued her and her brothers wife. the other 3 brothers were killed after the trial. this brother was sentenced to help the sheriff for 4 yrs and stay out of trouble. she was warned not to get in trouble again

he took her to meet his parents. they got angry after she confessed what happened and her part in it but they forgave her and they got married

Clarice Hampton has an unspeakable, terrible life, living with her bandit brothers. They steal, kill, anything to get money. Clarice is forced to pretend to be a mail order bride to lure men with money, so her brothers can attack them when she is supposed to meet the “groom”. Wesley Baker was one of her victims. He now lives in Iron Creek, after Clarice’s brother left him for dead in Duluth Minnesota, where he was supposed to “meet his bride”. Time has gone by, and on that terrible night a compassionate man saved Wesley’s life, and also taught him a trade – baking. Now Wesley has his own bakery in Iron Creek, and he feels that he may be ready to try again to find love. He puts out another mail order bride ad, and yes, guess who answers… Clarice. She sneaks the ad and writes a letter to Wesley, mixing it up with all the other letters she’s forced to write to unsuspecting grooms. She does not realize that Wesley is one of her victims. What will happen – will Wesley and Clarice figure out they have written before? Will they make a go of it? Will her brothers kill him, and possibly her? Oh boy this is a good romp. I hope you enjoy this book, and this series, as much as I have.

Amelia Rose has continued the stories situated in Iron Creek with inspiring characters and a storyline that also has some suspense. This time a young man corresponds with a young woman in Duluth. He arranges a trip to meet with her, but unfortunately he’s beaten almost to death. After some time of living in Iron Creek and establishing his bakery he decides it’s time to try for another mail order bride. He feels that he has found a good woman but is afraid of being conned again. Clarice lives a lonely life forced to do her eldest brother’s bidding which involves writing to unsuspecting men in search of a marriage. She has had enough and wants to escape, but what can be done?

His miracle?

Wes and Clary have a very bumpy road to HEA, but both learn important lessons, the biggest being self forgiveness.
Clary has grown up with heartache and pain, living in fear and hating every moment of being the woman her brothers made her...but it has made her stronger than she knows and it is ultimately that strength that saves her.
Wes has spent years hiding from his family and denying to himself what is in his heart, the dent in his pride and fear of history repeating itself have kept him lonely, until he finds his one true love.....again!
An emotional whirlwind this book will leave you with very mixed feelings, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

This story made me cry more than once. Sometimes we forget just what people had to do back then. Some to survive. I can see were they would be considered a miracle. The things that the couple went through and survived is heartbreaking. But also shows the spirit to stay alive. I enjoyed this story so very much. It is AWESOME. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The Baker's Bride!
This was a sweet romance with a bit of underhanded business thrown in for good measure.
Really liked the characters of Wesley and Clarice whose story this was.
As with many of this type of story it was touch and go for their happy ever after with many twists and turns eventually getting them there and I really liked that.
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book and this is my voluntary review of it.

Wes and Clary

Trying something new and it does not come out as planned can get one stuck. This is what happened to Wes, beaten and left for dead, when he travels to meet a lady. It was a miracle he lives and a kind gentleman rescued and trained Wes in a new occupation. After many years Wes looks for a place to call his own. He finds Iron Creek and his own bakery. Now for companionship where he falls in love. Read to find what happens with his lady love.

I received this book free as an ARC from the publisher. As soon as I began reading I was hooked. A story of deceit and turmoil becomes one of redemption and peace. The characters are well developed and you have the opportunity to catch up with characters from previous stories in the series. A great world building series. A sweet clean read with a HEA.

Oh this was just so good. Not a typical mail order bride romance. What a terrifying and rocky road both Wes and Clarice had to navigate. They are very strong characters that continue to develop throughout the story. This held my interest from the beginning and was a very enjoyable read.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.

Karla Gracey has certainly given us a twist on the mail order bride stories. A “romance”, a true romance, humor, villainy and a few surprises. I really enjoyed reading this book.

The Baker's Mail-Order Miracle

This was a very good story. I was happy with the ending. I didn't see much of Carl in it, or Carl's wife.
