My 7th grade daughter and I read through this book simultaneously. It was part of her civics education in homeschooling, and I'd never been thoroughly educated about the U.S. Constitution myself. It was serendipitous that we did so in 2020, during a contentious election, impeachment, unprecedented corporate censorship, contentious pandemic-related instances of government overreach and more.

We liked that this book took each article, section, and amendment and shared the original text along with its purpose, importance, and relevance. There were quotes and notes to enhance the topic, and no section ran more than several pages.

This gave a us great basic understanding of the workings of the Constitution and the wisdom of our Founding Fathers.

Some examples and items are out-of-date, so readers would benefit from an updated edition. It was enlightening how some offhand remarks made in a book published just nine years ago regarding the restriction of free speech have come to pass.

Several passages were either unclear or left us with more questions, for which we had to do additional research. The latter is not a complaint as this book is obviously introductory, and further study is a good thing.

The U.S. Constitution was one of our favorite studies this year. This book contains the Constitution in its entirety, but broken into manageable portions. Each section was explained and expounded upon, and--though somewhat dated in its references to social media--examples were given through the lens of modern culture. Written for teenagers by a teenager, some of the asides were occasionally juvenile but not inappropriate. I did notice frequent repeating of information within the same section, which was a bit tedious but easy enough to skim and skip the redundant parts.

Included were ample quotations by the Framers themselves, as well as some brief histories of origins of parts of different articles. For example, it mentioned the British roots for some of the laws, as well as explanations illustrating why the Framers decided to provide for freedoms that were then lacking for British citizens.

Overall, this is a great resource and one that I am pleased to have read with my students; not only for their Constitutional literacy, but for my own. This is my first time reading through the entire Constitution and actually gaining a general (if imperfect) understanding of it. What a blessing to have such a document as this for our nation's supreme law of the land; its genius--and, I believe, Providence--is clear to those who study it.

The fun part about this book os I picked it up when I visited one of the Presidential Libraries, which are super interesting for living history. This book took me a bit to get through, it seems they do a decent job walking through the Constitution, felt a little political leaning one way but overall not bad. It gave reasons why the information is still relevant today, great way to reinforce relevancy for the kids who read this.

it is a little boring. It also seems to repeat information a lot though each chapter.

Our Constitution Rocks by Juliette Turner, A Non-Fiction novel about our constitution simplified for teenagers. This book is not the first of its kind it's a re-imagined version of the U.S. Constitution for again teenagers and some adults if they need it that badly. Juliette turner's one of two books which is "Our Presidents Rock" This book is really good for getting a deeper understanding of the importance of the U.S. Constitution. I thought it was a really neat book to read if you don't know anything about our country and its document without it who knows what we could be. The story starts off introducing the articles of the document and what the failed Articles of Confederation was made and how big of a task it was to create such an important document, with excerpts from the real Founding Fathers! and every single article and amendment the U.S. Constitution has to offer. The book affected me in a positive way, because taking several law classes it has helped me get a deeper understanding of a lot of what this country has been built upon and what the country could be if we never made this document. I will admit, this book is not for everyone but is an excellent source of information on our country and it won't make you look uneducated if you ever get intoa conversation about this topic. Juliette Turner has succeeded in getting the constitution across in a more simplified and quite frankly, easier to read book. I very much enjoyed the book and it really helped me out on what the future of our nation is going to be. Again, it's not for everyone though people who dislike politics would get really bored as it tends to just go one after the other on laws in place. Everyone should read this book or at least the U.S. Constitution for a better understanding.

Fourteen-year-old Juliette Turner, writer speaker and daughter of conservative talk radio host Janine Turner, released “Our Constitution Rocks” in September. The book’s “kid-friendly” format teaches about our nation’s founding documents, the participants who wrote them and why. She engages her audience’s interest with “fun facts,” at times laugh-out-loud quotes, witty cartoons and succinct comments from “actual debates.”

Juliette, who knows her target audience, breaks the information into bite-size pieces, “clause by clause.” Although that sounds boring her layout is fascinating, fun and easy-to-read, one that will attract the interest of teachers and young readers, especially those in the home-school market.

Materials include concise phrases of information in comic strip style balloons that float over heads of caricatured statesmen such as John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Patrick Henry or Benjamin Franklin. In addition to half-page summaries with colorful page inserts.

She uses a pedigree analogy to explain how a family’s genealogical tree is similar to “America’s genealogical tree.” Only our nation’s American tree was shaped by “founding fathers and mothers who planted great ideas into the soil” instead of genetic material. Those ideas, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”…Full Review: http://tinyurl.com/chza8rp

We're starting to study U.S. History at home and I was looking for something about the Constitution that would be approachable. This does a great job of breaking the constitution down article by article and including some additional snippets of historical context, how various clauses have been applied and historical anecdotes. It's still probably not the most enthralling read for kids in elementary school, but it's a start.

A reference to keep on your bookshelf to read and reread! This book is a great resource for kids and adults and easy to read. I love that is breaks down each article within the Constitution and each clause with in the article and tells you what it means. Many great facts about how the Constitution came to be written. And amazing this book was the idea of a 14 year old! I bought a this book for my child's 5th grade teacher to be used in the classroom.
