After an attack leaves Kat with scars—both the ones on her skin and others far deeper—she tries to hide from the world. Even going to Sanctuary, where she always felt safe before, seems too difficult. Each time she looks in the mirror, she can’t see the confident woman she used to be.
Dean, Olin and Bradley can’t stop thinking about the feisty brat who has lost her spark. They miss the way she used to smile, how she stood toe-to-toe with anyone and now they’ll do whatever it takes to help her find that part of herself again.
A happily ever after will be more difficult than any of them expect, however, as the threat to Kat turns out to not be gone. Bodies start to appear that look just like her, and the man who hurt her is closing in on them all. Can Kat find her strength again or will the man stalking her finish her off this time?
Jayce Carter lives in Southern California with her husband and two spawns. She originally wanted to take over the world but realized that would require wearing pants. This led her to choosing writing, a completely pants-free occupation. She has a fear of heights yet rock climbs for fun and enjoys making up excuses for not going out and socializing.
No but this was so good, I don’t even think I understand. Such a good ending to the series, so much hurt and loss and longing, ugh, why do you have to make me love it so much???
And FINALLY we had Kat, but with extra spice, the not fun kind, god I love her so much.
In the previous book Kat was attacked and is doing her best to put her life back together but she doesn’t feel safe anywhere and hides from the world. Doms Dean, Olin and Bradley want to help her but will she let them? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and emotion. Great characters and an intense and emotional read that really draws you into the story. I loved it.

This was a great story. I didn’t read the previous ones in the series and do feel as if I missed some key points that would’ve been helpful but it wasn’t too bad. As you go through the book, you get the gist of everything.
There were a couple times I felt as if maybe I missed something. They got close super quickly and the relationship development was missing at times. This didn’t detract from the story at all.
Of course, what you assume is the primary story of Kat having a stalker that had previously attacked her wasn’t the whole book. A lot of it was definitely more smut (especially as I read Silenced as my first Jayce Carter book) but I feel it was expected being about Doms and Subs. If this was a series instead of a standalone in a series, I’d have loved to see more with Sanctuary, Ell and Kat’s other friends. The story was primarily driven by Olin, Dean and Bradley being Doms and Kat, the sub.
My biggest complaint is the POV of narration. I assume the others in the series are the same way. This was done in third person and personally, I feel like it takes away from everything. It doesn’t feel as personal. I almost stopped reading at the start when I realized this and am glad I pushed myself to continue.
When the ending came, it was great. For a standalone it was more than I expected. This was quick and sweet with a good chunk of dark thrown in. The story is more about Kat moving forward and learning to love herself more than it is about her story with Jerry. This just gave a reason to start everything off.
As always, I’ll be reading more from Jayce in the future as I love her writing. I’d just prefer a first person POV.
What an emotional roller coaster of ride this book was. It was so emotional, suspenseful but still had an HEA! This book sucked me in from the beginning. I cried for Kat and what she had gone thru. The author wrote in such a way it was as if she reached into my chest and starting tugging on my heart strings with her words as she wrote about Kat's experiences. Kat has been let down by her family and then to be attacked, it seems that she is at her lowest. It takes 3 strong men to help her realize that she is not powerless and she is strong and she is loved by many. Family is not always of blood, but rather family is of love, respect and support by those in her life. This is a story that runs the gamut of emotions from beginning to end. This is a story that builds suspense and mystery right to the get-go. The suspense and mystery definitely kept me reading to find out how it was all going to end. Reading how Kat grew thru the story was so emotional. a powerful read for sure. You have to read this book!.

Buried by Despair is book 3 in the series. It could be read on its own, but is best read in order.
The story picks up with Kat and her dealing with the aftermath of the attack. It was not pretty and she is definitely traumatized by it. Kat keeps up her brave face even while her attacker eludes the police. Her armor starts to crack once it becomes clear that he is far from done with her.
One thing I liked about this story is that the guys were not a team already. In some cases, they had only heard of the others. What brings them together is keeping Kat safe. All 4 of them have issues to deal with from their past. It was moving seeing how their time together helps them begin to heal and show their true selves.
Story had the undertone of looming danger, but focused on the time in between where the characters spend their time together. I liked how the narration rotated to provide other character's feedback and thoughts on what was going on.

I have loved this series from the beginning and each book gets me crazy wanting more right away! There is no difference in that with this one we get kat’s story. She is one woman you don’t want to get on her bad side lol She has been through so much and doesn’t know how to let people in. Which I don’t blame her especially when you have parents like hers. When things get complicated three men who wants the old happy bratty woman back. Will they be able to get her to let the walls she has up for so long down for them to help? And they let their walls down too and prove to her she worthy of everything even a happy loving life? Find out these things and more in this book that will have turns pages so fast to find out how things go. This book has mystery, crime, struggles with a couple of things mfmm relationship. I loved this book and his a keeper for me I’m happy with how things turned out and can’t wait to have more I hope in this series to come!.

This is the third book in the series. This can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the first two, but I will go back and read them now. Kat has been attacked and left scarred. It has changed her from her happy-go-lucky self to a woman who is scared to leave her home. Bradley is Kat's old boyfriend and when he finds out about the attack, he comes to stay with her and get her back to her old self. Dean is a man from the club that has been attracted to Kat. Last is Olin, the detective from her assault. The three doms want to help her, but Kat fights the whole way.
This book has a lot of emotions for the reader. Kat is so broken and her doms work together to bring her back to her old self. I enjoyed the way that Kat bratted her doms when she had the old sparkle in her eyes. They were responsive and very sensitive to her needs. Great book!.
I received an advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
What an amazing story of courage, strength and getting your life back. Kat is attacked at the end of the previous Book. This Book starts a little while after she is rescued and trying to put her life back together. She doesnt realize how much she is struggling until she goes back to Sanctuary where she used to feel safe and panics.
When Kat's safety is threatened again three Dominants Dean, Olin and Bradley come together to try and keep her safe and slowly help her heal even with her fighting it every step of the way.
This book brought out all of the feels. Had my tearing up in places, had me wanting to hurt someone in other places but really made me feel all the love these 4 people grow to have for each other.
This is such an amazing book and an amazing series. I love all of these groups of people and absolutely love Jayce Carter!! Cant wait to read her next book!!.

Wow! Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. This story was really deep as well as super spicy. If you have read the other two books in the series you will know that Kat is the life of the party at Sanctuary. then tragedy struck and Kat and Ell were taken and Kat suffered at the hands of a sadistic maniac. Just when she thought that she was safe, he was back in her life and suddenly she was in danger again.
Her ex-boyfriend Bradley has come to help her work through her grief and suddenly Dean and Detective Olin are rallying around her to keep Kat safe. Kat finds that she has to rebuild herself again emotionally. There is a happy ever after but only after Kat has accepted that she is more than her family have told her she was, Kat’s men help her to achieve this.

Sentence structure and wording was incorrect at times and made it difficult to read. I wish I would have read the first books in the series because I felt like I missed some things. This story I think should also contain a trigger warning. It does not go into explicit detail but maybe difficult for some readers reading about implied trauma and recovery. What I loved about this book that I do not see in many books is that the relationships were given time to develop before intimacy became involved. Each man in this story brought something different and great to the relationship and was able to help Kat with her healing. This was a very emotional book for me because of the parts with her parents. I did not expect to connect with this book and like it so much.

Kat has always been told by her family that she didn't measure up and was made to feel her talent and dreams of being an artist were worthless. When she is physically and mentally scarred by the acts of madman, she feels even more insecure about her value to anyone. In order to avoid letting anyone get close, she acts out with attitude thinking people will just leave her anyway. Dean, Olin and Bradley have three different personalities and strengths and they see Kat for who she really is beneath the hurt and the snark. I liked the suspense involving her serial killer/stalker as he tried to force Kat's hand. However, the story was a little lackluster on steam considering there were three hot Doms, each offering her what she needs to fulfill different aspects of her life.
I have read the other books in this series and each book of them had a heartwarming note to all of them but i felt that this book in particular was much more touching and emotionally charged.
Oh boy did my heart go out to Kat (FMC) who went through so much in this book. After being viciously attacked shes left with not only physical scars but mental ones too. Both of which have changed her from a free-loving out-going woman to a virtual recluse from everyone who cares about her. Only for 3 Doms - Dean and Olin to come into her life (except for Bradley who is her Ex) and remind her of who she used to be as well as get under her shell to uncover more about her.
A heartfelt read with plenty of steam and characters that i really liked. A cracking read
I’ve been rooting for Kat since book 1, and her story was phenomenal. Jayce Carter is one of my favourite authors, between the writing style, graphic descriptions & all round drop worthy content, it’s hard not to get hooked.
This is the 3rd in the series and although you don’t have to read the first 2, I suggest you do. Kat’s behind the scenes story just makes her more and more amazing (and I’ve never related so hard!!). Read everything you can by them, but this series makes it into my top 3. Absolutely amazing.

Buried by Despair is the 3rd book in the Dark Sanctuary series and continues straight on from where the previous one ended. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I'd recommend reading the books in order so you get a feel for how Kat's changed because of the attack on her. This is a book full of emotions that will move you to tears one minute and make you angry at the next. There's quite a bit of steam, too, a great depth to all the characters and a very satisfying and well-deserved HEA. I loved Kat and all of her three guys. This one goes on my keeper shelf and I can't wait for the next book!.

Kat has been attacked and has been left with physical and mental scars. As a result she is hiding away until 3 Doms attempt to help her. Her attacker is still at large and goes to extreme measures to get his hands on her again, but didn't count on the 3 men who protect her. I loved Kat's story and her despair not only as a result of the attack but also because of the way her parents treated her, was emotional and inspiring. I haven't read the first two books but will certainly be doing so. Well written, steamy, emotional and beautiful.

Kat is dealing with having a stalker that has tried to kill her. She is recovering by hiding and on a bad night she phones her ex. Bradley shows up the next day with no intention to leave until Kat is safe. Dean, who she knows from the club and Olin, who is the detective who is working her case, both decide that they will do whatever it takes to protect Kat. Kat has to learn to trust the three doms and the feelings that are between them erupts quickly whenever Kat acts like a brat. It takes three doms to tame Kat. Loved the book.

A very heartwarming story. Kat had been attacked and has scars you can see and scars that are very deep. She goes back to Sanctuary where she had felt safe but this time around she's lost her courage. Dean, Olin and Bradley miss the spirited woman they knew before. Dean, Olin and Bradley bring different strengths to their relationship with Kat which slowly helps her heal. There is still someone stalking Kat. Will her men be able to keep her safe? I love how the 4 characters of this story get together to form a bond with each other. I highly recommend.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book from the Dark Sanctuary series is Kat's story. It could be read as a standalone but I liked that I had some previous insight. There is some heavy subject matter for sure. Kat is a character that you will get emotional about. She has survived her horrors and still tries to function. The men, Bradley, Dean and Olin all support her recovery with plans also for her safety. She is going to need all three of them. A story of survival, struggles, violence, conflict and the chance to have everything you deserve.

This book wins for my favorite of this series. I haven’t read all of them, but if those I have read this one blows them all away for me. Jayce Carter did a really good job, IMO, on creating a character that has been through a traumatic situation and has the long lasting affects that go with it, depression, ptsd. The guys are also nicely fleshed out and you can tell them all apart then you add in the steam and tension with the stalker and wow, just loved it. Kat’s family is the worst kind and I hope she never sees them again. We also get to see characters from previous books and of course, Sanctuary.

I so enjoy this series. While it’s book three, it’s a standalone but I suggest reading the first two so you can understand the players better. Jayce is an awesome writer and does a great job flushing out characters and details. I felt sorry for Kat for her less than stellar home life and the tragedy she experienced. Olin, Bradley and Dean were perfect for her. They each had their own personal demons to deal with but the four together were perfect for one another. I would highly recommend. I received an advanced copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
Absolutely loved this stunning book, and let me say it is well worth reading. Kat is trying to cope with her life after her attack, however it takes her ex boyfriend Bradley, Olin and Dean to start to bring her back to life again. However it seems the men same person who attacked her wants and is obsessed with her. He is leaving her gifts all around the city. Now its up to the three men to keep her safe and catch the killer!!! This really is a must read and i really enjoyed this story and i know readers will do as well.
This is book three in the Dark Sanctuary series. Kat has lost her confidence after being attacked. She’s withdrawing and hides from any help her friends offer. Three Doms from her life try their best to get her back to her old self. It doesn’t help the her attacker keeps calling her even after she changes phone numbers. He’s still out there waiting for her. Lots of suspense, drama, fear with some STEAM thrown in. Look forward to more from this author.

This is my favorite of the Dark Sanctuary series, so far. Kat is brutally attacked by a psychopath and left with both deep physical and emotional damage. Doms Dean, Olin and Bradley are all determined to help Kat recover and return to her submissive, bratty self. This book has well written, compelling characters, is full of sizzle, steam, some drama, and so much more. This series is available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited and all 3 books are solid reads.

Kat is trying to recover after an attack left her with physical and emotional wounds. Olin, Dean, and Bradley are three doms who are trying to help Kat recapture her zeal for life. Plenty of drama and suspense throughout from Kat's attacker. Her three lovers will do what they have to to protect and support her. Hot and steamy RH action. This was a bit darker (emotionally) than what I typically read and felt a little heavy to me.
I loved this. It was kind of hard to get through because it is told in third person. I really enjoyed the book. The spice and dealing with assault was told in such a way that you really felt her struggle to move on. The men protect her from the man who attacked her and try to bring back the woman she used to be.

I thought this was such an entertaining read. I so felt for Kat and the emotional turmoil that she is facing. Thankfully, Dean, Olin and Bradley are there to help her through it all. However, Jerry is still at large, and you can't help but to shiver to know that it is dangerous at every turn. I found this book to be steamy yet suspenseful.

Finally Kat's story. and oh boy a journey it is. Don't want to write too much here because they all would be spoilers. Loved Kat's journey with her men, and see where all the behaviour from the previous books came from. Glad she got her HEA.

I really enjoyed Kat's story. I've loved the glimpses of her from the previous books and this story absolutely did her justice. Her three men are the perfect compliments to her personality. I also enjoyed the suspense aspect of the story.
Another fantastic Another fantastic book in the series. Deliciously dark and sinful. Plenty of angst and twists. Great characters, and a well written storyline. Would recommend.
