I live in Texas with my husband, daughter, and three Labrador retrievers. By day you can find me at my 'day job' buried under a pile of paperwork but at night I am at my computer creating new worlds!

I have always loved the paranormal. Shape-shifters, witches, and vampires have been my number one choice of reading material so when I strated to write it was the genre I chose.

I currently have several books released through Totally Bound. I have one long running series the Were Chronicles and in March 2014 a spin-off series the Shifter Chronicles will be revealed.

I also have several stand alone novellas and novels.

I am working hard to bring more stories to the readers so they can sit back and relax while losing themselves in the paranormal romance world.

So yesterday I had the need to read about some shifters. I knew I had a few on my tbr list so I started hunting them down. This was actually not on my list but on the side as a recommendation. It was perfect for what I needed.

I was actually supposed to start a buddy read soon so I didn't want to read something too long, but I wish this one would have been a little bit longer. :/ However, at 74 pages, the book never really seemed too rushed. I mean once I thought, wow you barely know her and already you're banging in the forest, hahaha, but they are shifters and have all those other senses so, whatever. It reminded me a lot of Feral Sins, but I still liked it and it was a perfect in between short story. At this rate, I'll have the whole series read in no time. :)

This was a cute shifter romance, it was fast paced, the attraction/love was pretty instant and I liked that is deviated from the norm by introducing a shifter who couldn't shift into her animal form. Gage was a perfect alpha, he was kind, understanding and an all around good guy. Marissa is wary of his interest and it takes some time to convince her that her non-shifting isn't an embarrassment or obstacle for Gage. This was a steamy read with a 100% committed Alpha that pursued his mate pretty much from page one.

Being a non-shifting shifter in her pack marked her as different. An outcast. Being a shifter who couldn't shift made her parents abandon her, her pack mistreat and reject her and forced her sister to leave her own pack for her. Living on her own, in the human world seemed the best alternative to taking her pack's abuse or forcing her sister to live the same lonely existed as she did.

When her sister gets married and joins a new pack, Marissa is invited to visit and for her sister, Marissa agrees, even knowing that her welcome would be anything but warm once her defect is found out. What she didn't expect was being so insanely attracted to a handsome pack member who literally sweeps her off her feet. But Gage isn't just a pack member, he is the alpha of her sister's new pack. And he instantly recognizes Marissa as his mate.

Overall, this was a good quick read. I liked that Gage tried (and succeeded) in changing Marissa's views of herself. For so many years she accepted that she was second class to shifters who could shift. With Gage's help, she's finally able to see her own strength and courage. It was a nice twist and I loved how Gage was always working to help her realize that her disability wasn't all that she was. It was sweet.

Would I recommend?
It was safe with exceptions but the trigger could be a deal breaker for the safety gang. Other than that, it was drama free.

Thrown out of her pack because she is a non-shifter Marissa Boyd vowed never to set foot on any Pack land again, until her sister begged her to attend her mating ceremony. Marissa has a plan, support her sister but stay away from the Were's who ignite a passion in her that are difficult to put to rest. Marissa's plans quickly go awry when she meets Pack Alpha Gage who is determined to make her his own.

I had been unsure about this book because of the mixed reviews, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Gage has a very charismatic personality that oozes off the page and Marissa with her feisty behavior puts up a fight when Gage tries to lay down the law according to him. I would definitely continue reading this series.

This was a pretty good book. Marissa Boyd attends the mating ceremony of her sister she is not a shifter and is not suppose to be on their land. Gage Wolf is the Alpha of the pack and he and his wolf want Marissa he knows that she is hiding something and he is ready to teach her what it means to belong to him. This was a good read the chemistry between these two was hot. Gage was hot sexy and sweet Marissa was strong. She finds out that everything she was told was a lie. This was the first book in a new series to me and this was my first time reading this author. The book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

Ugh. I guess I'm the only oddball here but I hate stupid heroines!! She ruined the whole book. She was sooo ANNOYING! I saw red most of the book. Her complaining and poor me poor me attitude. Couldn't do it.

I ended up skimming threw most of it. There was one part of the book where she almost gets eaten by a pack of wolves and I thought Finally! I mean she had the whole "nobody loves me! Everybody hates me!" down and she didn't want to live, but it's a love story so of course that doesn't happen.

Oh well, to each his own...

This one was short but very sweet. Seriously, it was bare bones story and I was wanting more. Add 100 pages of more interactions, not referenced after the fact and it would've been a favorite in my paranormal category.

Marissa Boyd is home or what should be home for her sister’s wedding. Years ago it was drummed into Marissa that she was not pack material and she consequently after leaving has never been back despite how much her inner self long to feel the bond of her pack.

When she meets the current pack alpha Gage she knew immediately that this visit was going to be unlike anything that she has ever experienced in her life.

Gage is a strong wolf and an alpha that protect what is his and he consider Marissa one of his own and once he feels the pull of mate bond he knows he was not letting her go despite her refusal to stay. There is also a secretive edge to Marissa that Gage also has to decipher – and he was man enough to deal with all of Marissa's misgivings irrespective of anything else that she thought.

Dirt always rise to the top and when Marissa's old lover comes calling, things are not as cut and dry as it sounds and not only does Gage have a fight on his hand with keeping Marissa on pack land, but Marissa is in high demand and someone refuses to let the matter of her past go.

I found this author through one of my Goodreads friends and I am loving her books so far. PACK ALPHA is the first book in the Were Chronicles series and it was short and sweet. I am not a big fan of the pheromones that are part and particle of wolf genre but in PACK ALPHA Ms. Smith really cut to the chase and literally sort the men's from the boy right from a few pages in and it was all smut – and all good.

Marissa's was a likeable enough character, beaten down and just trying to get through life as best as she can – she has made alot of sacrifices for her family. However when her sister wedding looms she knew she had to go and with precise planning – which was to be a quick in and quick out sort of meeting – she brave the hard task of facing her sister new pack. Although she is not able to shift she still has all the other traits of a wolf and it is those senses that refuse to let her ignore Gage.

Gage is like a tornado that has touch down and sweeps away everything within his path – he saw Marissa, he wanted her and he took her – as far he was concern that should be the end of the matter. It sounds all Aphalike but Gage have a heart and a deep sense of responsibility and it is this that makes him take on board Marissa's dragons and pound them all into dust.

I love a shifter book and when you toss in some reluctant players as well as a few in house drama – it was all that I needed.. Ms.Smith is an author I will be adding to my list of shifters author – I am liking the loads of angst that she brings and the emotional level that she maintain through the length of the book.

This was an easy read and I am so off to read her second in the series PACK ENFORCER.

A. this can be judged by the cover
B. not to be judged by description lmao.

for aged 18+

Pack Alpha by Crissy Smith was for me short story and i thought it was like most short stories quick moving, this short story felt very much a rush.
I felt everything was going fast i was introduced to the character but i couldn't relate, i couldn't feel for her as there was no history to get me knowing how she got there just a few repeated points that i felt was not being told to me but being pushed on me as if the author was trying to convince me and herself. I couldn't put myself into Marissas shoes nor Gages or her sisters, The story was being told and suddenly its as if the writer went 'oh i was meant to have a problem and a twist' and so SPLAT it was thrown in and then suddenly 'oh shit what am i meant to do with that' she must of been thinking cause as fast as it was thrown at you it was suddenly sorted out. The sex scenes where there but everything else was gone, story line nil in void, history nil in void, feel nil in void. I can't say i will be reading this again, it went where all books i feel sorry for go...... the bin.
I wish Crissy Smith good luck in future writing.

I really liked this book at first. I thought the plot was really interesting or I would have given it a lower rating. I wanted to see why her pack treated her badly. I wanted to see more interaction between her sister and her. I wanted a ton of dynamics....but I didn't get it.

Instead I got this troubled girl who meets the alpha from her sisters pack, has sex with him, and then everything is perfect. We didn't get to see why the her pack treated her bad, we didn't get to see why the pack would want her back, nothing was really settled with her sister. The interview with the council was nonexsistant. She worried so much about it, but we didn't get any details at all. What a mindless book it turned into.

I am so disappointed. I wanted a real story and I got fantasy island. Not my cup of tea.

Surprisingly good summer read

I had never heard of this author but I am a fan of paranormal romance. In Pack Alpha, I liked the characters and the high levels of suspense. I felt for Marissa's challenges with her disability (a shifter who couldn't shift) and the mistreatment of her former pack. I actually got teary eyed at one point when she was talking about her wolf being trapped. What a terrible thing to live with. While I liked the leading man, I would have liked a bit more development of his character and the pack overall. She did a good job building suspense in the beginning, with Marissa's concerns about visiting her sister's pack, and then later when the nasty ex came to town. All in all, it was an enjoyable, entertaining shapeshifter erotic romance.

I have missed reading paranormal romance. Sometimes it's difficult to make time to read full length PNR novel series when RL get busy. So I was very excited when I found this series. It's full of short PNR reads which are written well and entertaining.

I loved the sex scenes! So hot and descriptive without being overly wordy like some authors tend to do when writing such scenes. This had enough drama and plot to keep me entertained. I would have loved more world building but I know that's difficult in short reads. But I'm hoping I will get more acquainted with this world after reading more of this book in this series.

Looking froward to reading the next book!

Quick read that was enjoyable. Gage was the quintessential alpha with good looks and protective personality. The female lead is sassy but as a dominant wolf she showed a lot of courage. All the characters were well developed. Nice entry for the series.

Pack Alpha was another great read from this author for me. Marissa is a non-shifter that had been kicked out of her birth pack. Gage is a strong Alpha. She immediately brings out his protective side, but his strength may not be enough to heal her pain especially when a visit from her previous pack comes a calling. With just the right amount of emotion, drama and heat, I found myself quickly sucked into to Gage and Marissa’s story.

I’ve read stories that have had non-shifters but they have never been a main character nor has the inability to shift been such an important aspect of the story. Marissa impairment, for lack of a better word, certainly gives a new element for me to ponder on. Judging by the storyline, it looks like more may appear in the series.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed Marissa’s strength and courage having lived alone without a pack to support her. As for Gage Wolf, Alpha, sexy, and sensitive, he’s the perfect shifter for her. The dynamics of their budding relationship made for good reading. He had a few moments of caveman, err, I mean Alpha, that didn’t sit so well with the independent Marissa. The one place they did jell well was in the sex department. Just how I like my bow-chica-wow-wow to play out –Hot and steamy, a little spanking, let us not forget that shower scene! The HEA for Marissa and Gage is all you could ask for and just enough HFN to the series for now without being too much of a tease.

I originally discovered author Crissy Smith with her Shifter Chronicles series, which by the way was great. Now that I have read the first book in her Were Chronicles series, and knowing the premise of it, somehow this feels like a precursor to the other series. Knowing that this is a re-release book, I’m probably right. Either way, this author is one of my must read and highly recommend her for PNR fans.

I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine.

Good one! There is just something about an alpha male that just gets me going! This is a shorty...about 100 pages and surprisingly complete for such a quick read.

Marissa is a defective wolf shifter and was thrown out of her original pack because of it. Now, 10 years later she is forced into an unknown pack's territory because her sister is marrying one of the pack's members. Of course, she had no idea the Alpha would have eyes for her...and hands and and mouth and ...well, you get the point... He just has to convince her that she is wanted.

Nothing like a quickie to satisfy a girl on a Saturday night.

I read the three books of this series late last night (early this morning). Fabulous books for short stories. Pack Alpha was my fav. but there is a lot of potential built into books 3 ... I hope that there are many more books to come in this series and I hope that they are all as short and sweet as this one. The length sets them apart from all the other paranormal books.

marissa-main character,werewolf-but sadly can't shift so she stands out from the rest...an outsider as you would call it
gage-alpha male,werewolf
Elizabeth-marissa's sister
greg-elizabeth's mate
steve-were,guard
logan-gage's second-in-command
Brandon-marissa's ex,also marissas old alpha's son-but he became alpha because his dad retired
sam-an enforcer,were

marissa went on pack territory for the first time in a really long time cause her sister elizabeth was marrying a really nice were greg.marissa has always felt left out, people always treated her like she didnt belong because she couldnt shift.usually all the guys go crazy over her looks and all, and when they find out that she can't shift they start to treat her like an outsider.marissa and gage end up mating on their second meet, and elizabeth told marissa to go home because she doesnt want marissa to ruin her new life by staying with her alpha...gage mated to marissa and putted his seeds in her.
marissa was going to leave the territory and go home like her sister asked, but of course gage wasnt done with her yet.
elizabeth lost her position once in a pack because of marissa, and she doesnt want that to happen this time again.
elizabeth and marissa learned that there acturally is no law against a were mating with a non-shifter...so that means that their old alpha had lied to them to keep marissa away from his son.
everything gets weird when marissa saw brandon at elizabeths ceremony staring at marissa.for years brandon has haunted her dreams, and still she is frightened more to see him at elizabeth's ceremony.
even members from the old pack that elizabeth and marissa use to go to was there at the ceremony.
later on things go bad because brandon goes up to her and tells her that he is going to take her hoe back to his territory because turns out his father didnt put in any paperworks to the council that states that she got kicked out.gage tells brandon that he has to see proff, so brandon says he will be back and leaves with his pack.marissa doesnt want to go to brandon's pack again, and she'd rather die than go back to her old pack and let brandon have power over her.
gage then mates with marissa by him biting her and drinking some of her blood and she drinking some of his.
later on steve ends up bring bradon into gage's territory because bradon paid steve to.and so when brandon threathened marissa and took marissa close to crossing gage's territory, marissa screamed.and logan and gage came and so they fought and gage won, and bradon has to go on trial, and steve's punishment for going against gage would be making steve a rogue.and thats the worse punishment for any wolf.no pack to watch out for him and protect him.gage and marissa are happy together.

I apparently read this a while back, but don't 100% recall anything about it. The book is short and mostly sex scenes. The story is decently developed and slightly cliched. Nothing is too bad or too predictable but I disliked how Marissa was to be an Alpha mate but acted submissive a lot. I feel like, based on other shifter stories, that the mate of an Alpha should also have an Alpha personality and not allow other Alpha's to intimidate her. However with her history that makes it less likely she was assert herself. It was ok but nothing major or special.

I read both the original and the expanded version. Surprisingly, I liked the shorter original better. It kept my interest, avoided the boring parts, and finished quickly with a nice bow.

Marissa is a shifter who can't shift into her wolf form. After being abused and kicked out of her old pack, she has lived alone for ten years. Her sister, now part of a new pack, invites Marissa to her wedding. There, Marissa meets Gage, the alpha, and they end up mating. However, trouble arises with Brandon, a member of her old pack, who, for reasons only his crazy self understands, now wants Marissa back.

☹️ I didn't how the longer version made it clear that Marissa was very sexually active during the ten years she lived alone. The book opens with her having a one-night stand, and there are multiple references to her many lovers and how experienced she is.

In contrast, Marissa is the opposite in the shorter version. During a sex scene with Gage, she says she learned a few things from books, which I prefer.

🔻 More bad language.

🔻In my opinion, the added chapters weren't really necessary. One extra chapter to wrap things up would have been enough. I ended up skimming them because they focused on Marissa meeting the pack, her insecurities, the wolf council handling Brandon, and her moving in with the pack. There were also more interactions, mostly sexual, between the MCs.

🔻Gage was a bit too perfect. The longer version made it even more obvious. He came across as a "white knight," which I didn't find very relatable. It was repeated several times how he would do anything to protect his mate and the pack. He could use a flaw or two to make him feel more real. It's hard to connect with someone who seems perfect.

I gave the short version 3 stars. The longer one would get 2 stars. While I liked the extra details and the corrected errors, it made the story slow and dull.

An interesting spin on the world of the werewolf. I liked the story. I think it would have been significantly better if it had been longer. It holds a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to reading more of the series. The pairing was good and different compared to most werewolf/werewolf pairings.

Marissa was a were who couldn’t shift into her wolf and so she had been an outsider and had no pack and lived among the humans. She woke up next to a guy she had picked up at the bar the night before whose name was Chad who wants to see her again and told her to call. Chad was hot but did not help the deep inner loneliness Marissa felt. Then Marissa got an invitation from her sister Elizabeth who was living in a pack and was taking a mate and wanted Marissa there. It had been ten years since Marissa and Elizabeth had been separated from each other. Marissa had told Elizabeth to follow her dreams. Marissa knew she couldn’t have the life he wanted. Marissa and Elizabeth had got away from their birth pack luckily. Now Elizabeth was mating Greg. Marissa couldn’t say no it was the only thing Elizabeth had ever asked of Marissa. Marissa had never set foot on pack territory since she had left the pack she was born into. Until now. Elizabeth tried to get marrissa interested in pack life and Marissa seldom took Elizabeth’s calls. Marissa hadn’t meant to let so much time go by without talking to her sister It didn’t help that marissa really didn’t understand how Marissa felt about things. Marissa had grown up alone and would remain that way. Marissa had once given her heart to a wolf and it had ended badly. Marissa felt very attracted to gage who was Elizabeth’s and Greg’s Alpha but it would stop there. Gage was very attracted to Marissa and it had been years since he had felt that way.
I absolutely loved this story. It had a great plot and pace to it. I loved marissa and gage together. I also loved how Gage was forcing Marissa and their relationship to be out in the open. I loved how Gage was determined to break down Marissa’s walls and officially make her his. I felt so bad for marissa and the life she had known before meeting Gage. This was well written and i thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It has become one of my new favorites. Great paranormal romance and great ending. I will look for more books from this author to read. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and i highly recommend.

This book was first published on April 20th, 2009. But when it comes to reading a paranormal romance about were-shifters and strong Alpha men, I am all in. And with a doubt Pack Alpha the first book in a 15-part series, written by Crissy Smith didn’t disappoint this reader.

Marissa wasn’t thrown out of her pack more so that she was driven to leave. See, Marissa was a non-shifter and to her old pack that wasn’t heard of. Driven out of her pack, to allow her sister to thrive, Marissa didn’t know any other life except the one she was shown. So, what a surprise, while attending her sister’s mating ceremony and meets the shifter who will change her outlook on life.

Gage Wolf is used to defending his pack. And when his wolf sets his eyes on Marissa, his wolf won’t be denied even if it’s because of Marissa thinking that she’s protecting him.

There new attraction for each other would be put to the test when a visit from Marissa old pack members attends the mating ceremony.

Pack Alpha was a short read but packed a lot in that short time frame. A great book and an excellent start to a series.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This is the first book in the Were Chronicles series and the first book I have read my Crissy Smith. This is definitely for adults only due to the steamy content.

How have I not known about Crissy Smith and this series before now? I loved this book from the start, and it made me cry several times some in sadness for Marissa as my heart broke for her and some in happiness. I don’t know about you, but when an author can make me cry when I read them, I end up loving them and the story. I couldn’t put this book down. I loved Marissa and Gabe from the start. There is plenty of action, pain, rebuilding, and romance that was an emotional rollercoaster following Marissa in the story. I had to go and buy book 2 because I wanted more of Crissy’s work. It might take me some time because I have to buy them first, but I’m going to read them all.

I highly recommend to any shifter lover who those the emotional rollercoaster reads! I can’t wait to read the next one!

This was a quick dramatic mate-love story that's full of smut, damsel in distress, and drama for no reason. It was pretty much ticking boxes which is why you looked at it in the first place.
It's not good but it's exactly armed with all the possessive werewolf hero tropes and storyline.

Although the book could have been done at like 75%, the rest felt like a long epilogue. It did sometimes feel like the author couldn't decide between making the heroine badass, feisty and full of alpha-type strength or if she needed to constantly be held up by every male in the vicinity as they tell her she's strong. She spends most of the book putting herself down with the same excuses and everyone around her telling her the truth she refuses to believe, even up until the very end.
Overall it was a fly through read for me that ticked a lot of boxes.

When I read the summary it spoke to me because I' m a fan of shifter / true mate books.

The story dives right in with a dream hot wolves dominant scene, great start and the rest follows suit.

It has it all - hot hot alpha male, scarred from the past female, secrets and troubles that follow in the form of an idiot villain ;-)

Serious I found Brandon pathetic, well written but it was sad that he actually believed he could get
Marissa after the abuse she sufferd from him (and ignoring her for 10 years). I repeat Idiot.
But oh so sweet when Marissa can calm Gage down after he kicks the idiots ass ;-)
