“Shielded by the Cowboy” is the 8th book in the ‘WEST Protection’ series by Em Petrova. It’s written so that it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone story, but believe me, you’re going to want to get to know all of the scorching hot cowboys created by this author.
Genessa goes to the Bachelors for Charity auction to bid on a cop because she needs help dealing with a dangerous criminal situation and is afraid to go to the actual Police Department. She’s the smart CEO of a corporation, although this decision she makes was kind of ridiculous, I thought. You have to just go with the flow though, because it sets up a good story. The cop Genessa wins for herself is Caleb, an ex-cop but current bodyguard/ member of WEST Protection. Caleb is one of the good guys, but things that have happened in his past have made him doubt himself in a lot of ways. He’s found new opportunity and camaraderie in being part of WEST Protection. When he finds out the reason why Genessa spent a huge amount of money to win him at the bachelor auction, he’s shocked at first and then drawn into the tangled, messy web of secrets that she herself is still unraveling. When he got coerced into doing the bachelor auction, he never thought he’d end up dealing with a beautiful woman and the mafia as well.
This is an action-packed, fast-paced story. There’s a good amount of humor and a variety of emotions to balance out the intensity of everything going on. Genessa and Caleb have a forced proximity situation that perfectly facilitates a quick fall for one another. Even though neither thinks it’s a very good idea, the heart wants what (or who) it wants. Secondary characters include some that you’ll remember if you read other books in this series. I thought the ending was nicely done, and very satisfying.

WEST Protection was brought into action on a case in the most unusual way, when Genessa Turner, CEO of Turner Development walked in off the street buying Caleb McCoy, Bodyguard from WEST Protection at an auction, but she thought she was buying a cop from the Bachelors for Charity in Stone Pass, Montana Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. McCoy was not sure what was going on. All he knew for sure was his friend Lexis owed him big time for doing this favor as Lexis was originally supposed to have participated being the local trooper. Genessa blindfolded and handcuffed McCoy taking him to the latest Turner building site to show him a hand sticking out of a cement footer resulting from some mobsters trying to make a point to her. McCoy immediately called Ross for advice on what to do, and where they should go from there. Caleb and Genessa both thought their hearts were stone cold to the opposite sex, but they soon learned that maybe they just had not met the right person yet. Hang on for an exciting time as Caleb McCoy tries to control his heart long enough to get through this mess, he got into helping a friend out. The guys at WEST have got his back even though she's not a client. One action packed read with an dose of extremely heavy steam on the side. You do not want to miss this one.

Danger, suspense and all the swoons
I loved Caleb and Genessa’s bachelor auction, bodyguard, close proximity romance. I love a book with a sexy alpha hero but I also love one that includes a sexy, smart heroine as well. This book gives us two strong main characters for double the enjoyment along with witty dialogue, characters with depth who grow, and an engaging storyline. Caleb is a former cop who now works security for WEST Protection. Genessa is the CEO for her family’s construction business. When a friend asks Caleb to stand in for him at a bachelor auction, Genessa bids on him and wins. But their date is not what Caleb expected, she needs help because of a dead body. Throw in danger from the mafia, forced proximity and sizzling attraction and the breakneck journey toward their HEA and keeping Genessa safe begins. As they spend time together, their feelings for each other grow right into forever. But before they get there they must each deal with their pasts because they continue to negatively impact their lives in the present. This book has a little bit of everything you’d expect from romantic suspense - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous action, strong family and friendships, uber protective men, plot twists, painful pasts, and even a few chuckles. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and getting to know more of the WEST Protection men.

This book was ok. There were a lot of steamy scenes in it. This was not one of my favorites of the series.
I was very surprised by Caleb's behavior. He seemed like such a loose cannon. As a member of the WEST Protection team, I expected him to have more self control.
I didn't feel much about Genessa one way or another. I didn't pick up on much chemistry.
I knew he had a thing for Genessa, but they spent more time being intimate than anything else. Also, we have another person doing something stupid to save the "trained" person they were in a relationship with for a very short period of time.
The book started out to be interesting, trying to figure out what was happening with the crime family. By the time they got to Corrine's, I was still on board. After arriving there, I started to slowly lose interest.
There was some action, suspense, and danger. I can't say I felt any of the brotherhood from Caleb. He seemed to want to be a lone wolf. There was a happy scene at the end.
My recommendation would be to read the book and make your own determination. It had all of the right components. I just wasn't feeling it.

This is the 9th book in the West Protection Series featuring Caleb and Genessa's sexy page-turning action-packed suspense story. Caleb McCoy dominant ex-Marine,ex-cop and bodyguard for West Protection has met his perfect match in Genessa Turner CEO of Turner Development and a strong independent woman who is not afraid to go after what she wants. They meet when Caleb does his buddy Lexis who's the local trooper a favor and takes his place in the charity bachelor auction even wearing his trooper uniform even though it's too small. Genessa thinks that he's law enforcement and that he'll be able to help her with a threat that she's received from the mafia so she purchases him. Once she buys him she handcuffs and blindfolds him in order to take him to the latest Turner building and show him the threat that was left there for her by the mafia. Once she blindfolded and handcuffed him Caleb was worried about what he had gotten into. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this steamy insta-love suspenseful story to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book as well as the previous books in this exciting series.

“Shielded by the Cowboy” is the 9th book in the ‘WEST Protection’ series by Em Petrova. In this installment, bodyguard Caleb McCoy is purchased in a charity auction by CEO Genessa Turner. She believes that she is bidding on a cop for the evening and promptly handcuffs Caleb and kidnaps him in order to get him to help her look into the death of 2 of her employees on the downlow. Was she ever surprised when she learned that Caleb is not really a cop, but had stood in for his buddy who was not able to attend the charity auction. Thankfully Caleb possesses the skills Genessa requires in order to help keep her alive from the mafia while looking into those deaths.
Caleb and Genessa have a fun and playful way of interacting despite the serious situation that brought them together, and their sexual chemistry is sizzling. They were fun to read getting together and as always, Corrine's appearances made for a lot of fun!
A quick read with all of the plot twists and heat to keep a reader occupied. Definitely well worth reading!.

I was entertained by the storyline and the attraction between these two characters. McCoy is protective of Genessa and decides she since she’s not under contract for protection from WEST Protection he isn’t risking his job if things get hot and steamy between them while they hide out from the mob and his team long with the FBI figure out what’s going on with her company.

Shielded by the Cowboy is book nine of the WEST Protection series. Wow these guys just keep getting better and better! Caleb McCoy Steps in as a cop for a friend at a charity auction the funny thing is - he is an ex cop. So, he is bought for an outrageous amount of money by Genessa Turner the CEO of Turner Developments handed down to her from her father just a little over a year ago. She thinks he is Trooper Lexis that she has purchased to help her get to the bottom of the mess at the construction site she stumbled upon. She is on the run from the mob that she has discovered her dad has had some interaction with she knows Caleb and his WEST Protection team mates will do whatever they have to do to keep her alive. This is a steamy, red hot chemistry, romantic and very suspenseful, full of danger with lots of action and a terrific addition to this amazing series. I have enjoyed every book in this series, I’m looking forward to many more. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

Steamy, romantic, and suspenseful, the opening to this novel was both humorous and unexpected as Caleb McCoy discovers when a well-heeled woman places an outrageous bid on him at a charity auction. However, the joke is on him as he quickly discovers that his date has an ulterior motive, one that could bring him and his whole team down. With the mafia breathing down her neck and her selfish father out of reach, Genessa Turner quickly comes to the conclusion that bidding on McCoy could be the best thing she could have done, but for the first time in her life, she is not in control of the situation. Fortunately, even though displeased with him, McCoy's team has his back and although it was touch and go, the novel comes to a successful and romantic conclusion. The novel is well-written and free of errors. It is fast-paced, exciting, and although part of a series, it is a standalone. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through BookSprout and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This was a quick, page turning read with suspense, insta-romance, a strong heroine, an alpha hero, and a little mafia thrown in for good measure.
Caleb McCoy, ex-Marine, ex-cop, and current bodyguard, does his friend a favor and stands in for a charity bachelor auction. Little did he know that one decision would alter the course of his life. Genessa Taylor, who took over her father’s company a year ago, buys Caleb at the auction thinking he’s a cop and can help her with a mafia threat she’s received. Genessa got more than she bargained for when she bought Caleb. Although she’s an independent woman, set on proving herself in a male dominated world, she finds comfort and safety in Caleb’s presence. I have loved the WEST Protection series and this book was no different. It’s a good mash up of suspense and romance with a dash of brotherhood thrown in.

Love this Odd Couple!
I friggin’ LOVE Em Petrova’s WEST Protection series of suspenseful, steamy romances, and “Shielded by the Cowboy” is no different. The meet-cute with this one! Ex-cop and bodyguard Caleb McCoy is a sexy broken hero thrown into a hairy situation with a gorgeous corporate CEO who bids an obscene amount of money on him at a charity auction of all things! Genessa is smart, tough, and terrified, but she recognizes very quickly that there is far more to the hotter-than-hell McCoy than meets the eye. So much going on with the plot of this one, and these two are amazing together as they navigate their HEA while trying not to die! All the sweet stuff, and steamy bits, and all those WEST cowboys! The chemistry is almost tangible. It’s just. That. Good. Thank you, Ms. Petrova!

It all starts with a Bachelor auction and the Mafia. Come on how does that not make you want to read it. This is another great story in the West Protection series. McCoy and Turner are full of lots of laughs.
Genessa trying to keep things low key thinks outside the box and tries to buy a cop at the bachelor auction to help her with her little mafia problem. What she got was even better! McCoy never dreamed the strong in charge woman who bought him then handcuffed and blind folded him would turn out to be the one the heal him. In the end it’s a toss-up between who saves who.
These two strong willed people clash hard in the beginning with lots of laughs. This story is full of action, suspense, laughs and sexy times. I highly recommend McCoy and Turner’s story.

Caleb McCoy was conned into a charity auction by his friend State Trooper Clay Lexis, who pled having to work.... meaning Clay owed him...possibly his new fly-fishing rig...as he walked in front of a crowd of boisterous woman bidding on a date with him...one bid won out for $10,000, the biggest of the evening. Genessa Turner was CEO of a company who was currently building a new strip mall near Stone Pass Montana...but she needed expert advice, so she bid on the hot-hot-hot cop on stage...not knowing he wasn't a State Trooper, but an employee of WEST Protection Services...and she needs help desperately as her business under attack...costing the lives of couple of her employees...but you will need to read this intriguing story to see what happens as these opposites attract each other...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love all the guys and their family’s from the protection agency! If you haven’t read the whole series, do yourself a favor and read these exciting stories. Enjoyed the story. It is full of action and extremely entertaining. Genessa ‘s life is threatened and Caleb is her new bodyguard. He calls in West Protection for assistance in trying to uncover who is threatening her. Romance is in the air from the beginning and just gets hitter and hotter. There is a lot of action in this story along with danger and romance which makes for a great read. I like the fact that characters from previous books appear in this story. This is a book worth reading and I do not think you will be disappointed. I would have liked Genessa’s father to have received some type of punishment for dumping his mess in her lap.

Another fast fun suspense and drama filled addition to this series and like all of its predecessors it rollicks along at a fast pace with a few twists and turns to keep you engaged

This is the ninth book in the WEST Protection series. You can read it as a standalone but it is connected to the other books. Caleb and Genessa's story is a wild ride. They pretty much clash with each other from the very start. Genessa is very independent and as CEO she's use to being in charge. She purchases him at a bachelor charity auction that he's filling in his state trooper buddy. She thought she was getting a cop to help her with the murder of her assistant but what she got was a highly trained bodyguard. Fast paced and steamy with a story that had me turning the pages. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

I loved the way Caleb McCoy met Genessa Turner because it was so unexpected and funny! However, when two people are supposed to meet because soul mates will always find their way to each other. In Genessa's case, the mistaken identity of her Bachelor purchase turned out to be the right choice when he turns out to be the one to keep her alive. As with all of the West Protection men, the women they find themselves protecting is the one that works their way into their man's heart while they run from the bad guys and avoid dangerous shootouts. I just love the strong men (and women) that Em Petrova writes about and Caleb and Genessa are no expeption.

Shielded by the Cowboy is the ninth book in the WEST Protection series and it is a wonderful addition to it. The story is about Genessa Turner and Caleb McCoy. When Genessa is threatened by the Mafia she takes an interesting approach to getting help.....buy a man from the bachelor auction. The only thing is that she things she bought a copy and instead she ends up with a body guard and security specialist. All I can say is that this is one mistake that is for the best, in all ways possible.
I really enjoyed this book as it is a fast-paced and fun read that leads you steadily to a delightfully smexy ending. Along the way there are some twists, danger, scorching hot passion and a connection which will not be broken.

This is the 9th book in the WEST Protection series and is a very worthy addition to it. This is about Genessa Turner and Caleb McCoy story. They meet when she buys a man from the bachelor auction in a troopers uniform. There is only thing wrong with this, she brought a body guard and security specialist. She didn't realise this until after she handcuffs, blindfolds him and shows him the threat that the mafia has left her! So, now we have a mystery, twists and turns, danger, betrayal from an unexpected source and a damn good story to boot. The characters are exceptionally well written but that is what you come to expect by this author. Enjoy.

Great series
I really like this series about a protection agency and the people who find their matches. Caleb is filling in for a friend at a Bachelor auction dressed as a police officer. Genessa needs help and decides to bid on him and get him to help her not realizing that he's not a real officer. Caleb decides to help her when he finds out that the mob is after her. The WEST group has Caleb's back even when they are trying to figure out if Genessa is involved with the mob. Caleb and Genessa have an instant attraction to each other even though he's technically not supposed to be involved with her as his ward. The danger and excitement is a page turner and I couldn't put the book down. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This is Book 9 of WEST Protection story for CEO Genessa Turner and bodyguard Caleb McCoy. What could possibly go wrong with these two and a Bachelor for a Charity auction too! I started to laugh from the first page. Well this one went a wrong road from the Auction to the falling for each other. I loved how Strong Genessa was and how brave she is. I loved how Caleb was rangled up to be the one to work for Genessa. I loved this book. I loved how all her secrets keep Caleb on his toes. This one is full of danger and mystery.

Genessa purchases McCoy at an auction for charity. She thinks she is getting a cop but McCoy turns out to be a employee of West Protection. She shows him why she needs him and it becomes a protection job to keep her from the mafia. Genessa is to be only a job but the chemistry between her and McCoy is explosive. McCoy struggles hard to keep his hands to himself but the attraction is too much. This was a great story with enough danger, high emotions, and a sense of belonging that you want to read till the end.

This is another fantastic WEST Protection book and it is filled with drama, excitement, danger, suspense, and lots of heat. Caleb McCoy is bought at a charity auction by Genessa Turner believing he is a cop. Genessa is hoping he can help her find out who killed two of her employees. When showing Caleb a hand sticking out of cement he goes into WEST Protection mode and things really heat up. When you start this book be ready to do nothing to read because you will get so caught up you won’t be able to put it down. GREAT JOB Ms. Petrova.

As they go investigating, deals her father made come to light and he has taken his new young wife to a non-extraditing country. He involves WEST Protection and finds out the people who are trying to kill her are wanted by the government and the FBI gets in on the action. A lot in action and intrigue.

Caleb is another sexy alpha West Protection bodyguard who agrees to be in the bachelor auction for a good cause where he is purchased by Ganessa who is CEO of Turner Construction. When she explains how the mafia is after her and has already killed her assistant he agrees to help her. There is danger with the mafia family after her then the FBI gets involved but through all Caleb never lets her down because he has fallen in love with. her something he never thought he would do after his cheating ex fiancee. If you like a hot alpha man and just as strong sassy woman you will love this book.
