Being diagnosed with breast cancer can be a paralyzing moment. This book is a part of a movement to help one find their purpose, persevere, provide hope, and inspire patients going through their breast cancer journey. My intent and desire is to help others, wishing to make an impact. Hopefully, this book will benefit someone and comfort them, knowing that they are not alone. It also provides support and guidance to loved ones to help them navigate the best way to support breast cancer patients during their journey. When one is diagnosed with cancer, their entire ecosystem is disrupted. From work to family to friends to their entire social circle—everything changes for them.
Everyone who has been touched by this horrible disease, their cancer experience and their journey are unique and personal. Their treatments, diagnosis stage, the healing process, support system, and, unfortunately, survivor status is all different. What is usually preferred from a breast cancer patient is the gift of time, empathy, and encouragement. Hopefully, this book will provide hope, guidance, and support to all who are touched by breast cancer, from the patient to the loved ones who are wanting to support them throughout their journey.
This book is a great gift for anyone experiencing breast cancer or for those who are supporting a family member or friend who have been diagnosed with the disease. Consider sharing it to bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to a paralyzing situation.
This was a helpful reflection of the stressors of HER+ breast cancer. If you have breast cancer it is important know your type, stage and treatment options.
This was an inspiring and heartfelt memoir, and I am grateful the author shared her story. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in her 20s and suddenly a busy career with plans to build a family was cast in doubt. She details the emotional and physical tolls that come with undergoing the battery of tests and treatments (chemo/surgery). She does an impressive job of conveying her emotions about the highs and lows of this journey while also infusing her narrative with the importance of hope and seeking positivity (and support) on the toughest days. Her prose is refreshingly conversational and it reads like a letter from a good friend. She is eager to draw lessons from her experiences that directly help suffering patients and their loved ones. Highly recommended.
