"Don't read this book when you are home alone or late at night. I was totally freaked out!" - reader review
Robin, a young single mom, imagined for so long the possibility of owning a house like this one, her dream home. It stands tall, overlooking a large beautiful yard, with quite a spectacular tree that could take your breath away.
What Robin doesn’t know is that this house has a dark past. A history that would slowly consume her. The attractive idea of her dream home would later be described as a nightmare as she uncovers the horrors that took place there. Will she and her son escape?
For the past few years, Gabrielle K. Chevalier has rocked the community with her fiction novels based on true-life experiences. Her novels bring forth rather taboo topics that aren't often discussed in today's society from a victim's perspective directly.
As an abuse survivor herself, Gabrielle strives to raise awareness to the public about narcissistic family systems and generational trauma. She actively works within the community and speaks publicly about her experiences.
When she isn't writing, Gabrielle works full-time and spends her time with her son. She enjoys gardening, weight training, and video games.
Unfortunately I just can’t give this book a good review. I never got invested in any of the characters and the story itself just felt like such a shell of…something. It seemed like there was too much going on and sometimes I was diverted from what I think the story was really supposed to be about. I didn’t believe the characters’ reactions to anything either.
Also, the grammatical errors are just too much for me. I noticed a couple things early in the book and then it just got to be a game of what I was going to find wrong on every page.
Read this in 1 day. I'm in Vancouver and I didn't see grammar or spelling mistakes. The author is Canadian, I assume that is the reason others found mistakes because we spell things differently in Canada and the US. I read the paperback version so I can't comment on kindle format things. The story moves quickly. I get bored easily that is the reason I appreciate when a book doesn't drag on and on. I'm looking into the other books from this author because I really liked this book.
I really wish I could rate this one higher, and please give it a shot. She gives trigger warnings at the beginning and mine was too much for me, without it this would be a solid 4*. There were Kindle formatting errors and I felt like I was editing this book while reading. I could never write anything like this, so that's amazing as it is.
This was a really good book! Just like this authors first 2 books, I couldn't put it down. It's a fast paced book which keeps things interesting. I hate books that have so much filler content. This book was creepy and the ending is disturbing. It's well put together. I'm in Canada, no spelling or grammar mistakes that I can see.
I really enjoyed this read. It had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up on end from the start. The only thing I would say is that when the author changes to other peoples perspectives that she puts a little heading to say who’s speaking in 3rd person at that point in the book. I would recommend for anyone who likes a chilling tale.
This was an interesting read that kept my attention. I could not give it more stars due to the vast number of spelling, grammar, sentence structure errors, and typos. It was a distraction from the storyline and felt as if I was reading a story written by an elementary school creative writing assignment. I think the author has potential as a writer if she can find a very talented editor.
This book caught my attention right away by the cover. It looks creepy and sometimes, the creepier the better for me! I think this book could've gone into more detail about the main character's past and what happen to "him" a bit more and their relationship, etc. I also thought it was weird the main charater thought she was really seeing people and not ghosts which was really obvious to me throughout the story. Other than that I thought it was a great read. It kept me interested to find out what would happen. I would recommend to someone that likes paranormal books.
