Three years ago, the operation leader Jiang Ting made an error in judgment, a chain explosion occurred at the scene, and there were heavy casualties in the unit. Three years later, he, supposed to have died in duty, returned to the world, doing everything he could to bring forth the bloody, bizarre truth. Heroic souls resting in death, the ones behind it all closely approaching, sentiments built fighting side by side in blood and fire… "I used all of my luck in this life, to exchange for you. Thank you for bringing me back to this world, Yan Xie."
Such a bittersweet ending!! I read the webnovel so I knew what happened between the places the artists couldn't do bc of time. I'm glad they were able to do this even though they had to end it sooner than they expected... This was the first manhua I knew I had to finish when bilibili announced that they had to shut down, so here we are! Lovely art 🥰🥰🥰
AKJSJAKS t.t
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard while reading a crime novel—let alone one dealing with heavy themes like drug trafficking, violence, and trauma. Yet here we are. Breaking Through the Clouds is a whirlwind of razor-sharp wit, heart-stopping tension, and a romance so electric it left me breathless.
From the very first chapter, I was hooked—not just by the intricate crime plot (which is brilliantly crafted), but by the explosive chemistry between the two leads. Yan Xie, the smug, flirtatious detective with the emotional depth of a golden retriever, and Jiang Ting, the enigmatic, razor-tongued amnesiac with enough sass to power a small city—their dynamic is everything. The banter? Hilarious. The tension? Palpable. The moments where their walls crumble, revealing raw vulnerability? I wept.
Huai Shang has this incredible gift for balancing darkness with humor. One second, you’re gripped by a brutal case; the next, you’re wheezing at Yan Xie’s shameless flirting or Jiang Ting’s deadpan comebacks. The emotional whiplash is real, and I loved every second of it. Even in the darkest moments, there’s warmth—a reminder of humanity amid the chaos.
And oh, the pining. The insecurity. The way these two idiots orbit each other, desperate and hesitant and so obviously in love—it’s painfully good. If you’ve ever craved a danmei that blends crime thriller intensity with a romance that’s equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, this is it.
I finished the book in a daze—laughing, crying, and immediately diving into the sequel. If you love smart, emotionally layered stories with unforgettable characters, don’t miss this. Just be prepared to lose sleep, because once you start, you won’t stop.
I had high hopes picking this book Most times I don't even understand what was going on due to the diction of the work. The chronology is giving me serious migraine. Confusion is just everywhere. Why does sex between Yan xie and Jiang Ting feels like rape all the time. Yan xie forcing himself on Jiang Ting. Can't both parties agree to have intercourse and engaged in it actively with passion. I'm tired of reading this forceful acts seem this book encourages the act. I don't know the state of mind of the Author I would love to understand why everything is always forced between the two main characters. Why Yan xie talk down on women?? Why he wants to take Jiang Ting has a wife not husband?? I'm tired of reading about the kings of spade, Nothing interesting about him. The police force is a clown circus with clowns everywhere. This book has no direction from the beginning to the end At a point I wondered if this book is meant for humans.

4.5⭐️Just because the ending was a bit rushed and they didn’t continue the novel. “Yeah my boyfriend is pretty cool, but he’s not as cool as me” coded. I LOVED the main characters. One of the best manhua I’ve read in a while.
Premise: Three years after the Captain of Crime Investigation Team, Jiang Ting, died in a failed operation against a large syndicate, Yan Xie, Vice Captain of the Crime Investigation Team, sees a man who seems oddly familiar. Caught in a web of lies, crimes, and betrayal, Yan Xie forges ahead, seeking the truth of what happened three years ago.
Review: As an action, mystery, and crime-investigation novel, “Breaking Through the Clouds” is a clear 5/5. It had me at the edge of my seat itching to get to the revelations. It really did a good job of hooking the reader with scattered clues and hints all the while never really being clear on the circumstances of three years ago.
You can’t rest easy with what they’re revealing either, those clues could be outright lies or carefully manipulated truth.
That said, I would have docked it a star since the romance wasn’t well-developed. The initial romantic buildup was lacking in substance, it just wasn’t convincing enough. I do think the MC and ML could fit together, that wasn’t the problem, it was the execution of it that failed to deliver.
In the end, the reason why I only had 0.5 stars removed was because the romance did one aspect well.
Since they were on uncertain grounds with the MC being a police officer and the ML basically being a fugitive whose motives are unknown and has an undeniable connection with a large figure in the underworld, the MC and ML, though confirming that they had an attraction and affection for one another, were at a stalemate where they could trust the other with their lives but couldn’t trust that the other is not hiding something that would be detrimental to their respective plans.
I really liked that part and it was well-executed, so while the initial foundation for the relationship was lacking, that part of the romance had me interested.
