I set traps to catch food. I caught feelings instead.

Our planet is dying, after the Great Burn.
There is no food.
What little is found is taken by our evil alien masters.
With no other hope, I leave my village and hope to find something – anything – to eat.
I set my traps and wait.

And that’s how I catch an untamed beast named Alaric.

The huge Drokan warrior with the heart of gold.
His body makes me tingle.
But his wit makes me melt.

He says that together we’ll defeat everyone that’s holding us down.
That we’re fated mates.
I believe this handsome warrior.

Why?
Because only fate can cause someone whispering in my ear

To turn my knees into jelly.

Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.

She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.

Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!

The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!

When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)

I loved this book right from the start and characters where perfect and fun loving which only added more strength to the storyline. Elke is from the human village of Dracfeld where they are starving with little food being brought in so with this in mind Elke decides to go further out to try and find food and comes upon some berries which she eats hungrily and is enjoying them all to herself but feeling a little guilty when the others a starving but the feeling of being full is wonderful and she closes her eyes for just a second then she sees a pair of eyes staring at her and she makes a run for it and there is a Drokan warrior who chases her but she hides from him and sets up a trap to capture him, and believe it or not she does capture him by his foot and when she cuts him down she knows she can trust him but isn’t sure why. Alaric has just watched his best friend Perlos and his mate Ibena lose there new born child but they are not the only ones it’s happened to and with a heavy heart he volunteers to go to other villages to finds answers that will save his own village. Now on his travels he sees a gorgeous human who is eating berries and with the sounds she is making while eating them has him turn on like nothing before has and while he watches her she sees him and panics and runs and I chase after her scaring her more now here I am on my back caught in a trap she set for him. After talking a while she sets him free and they realises that they have the same common problem in her village baby’s dying. Alaric takes her back to his village where they tell the elders that the humans are having the same problems as them. Then comes more trouble to his village when the evil Skuyr arrives wanting two volunteers and to save his people Alaric steps forward and so does Elke because she doesn’t want to be left alone. They are taken to Muenfal a place where the Skuyr test and experiment on people and it’s a place nobody comes back from. The Skuyr realise that the human and the Drokan have formed a bond and they put them together after drugging them and not long after they make love and then they are separated again. Thinking she might be pregnant she is taken to a different side and is feed and treated well then she fakes being sick and Alaric is brought to her and they escape together. Do they make it back home together and have a HEA and did they find out the answers to why the babies dying or not. To get these answers and so much more get this fabulous book you be disappointed.

Alaric is a Drokan who uses jokes and humor to try to keep his fellow Drokan distracted from the bad things in life. One of these things is the inability for Drokan women to give birth to live babies. No one is sure what is causing all babies to be stillborn, but the situation is getting dire. After Alaric's friend loses his child to the affliction, he knows that they have to try to get more information from nearby villages and try to figure out how to fix the problem. He volunteers to visit other settlements and gather intel. During his travels, he comes upon a human woman gorging herself on berries...

Elke is a human woman whose village has more than one pressing problem. She is one of the hunter/gatherers for their town and it is getting harder and harder to find any food to bring back for the communal larder. They are on the brink of starvation. They are also unable to bear live children, but the lack of food currently trumps that problem. Part of the food scarcity is brought about by the limited area they are allowed to forage in. Due to past encounters with the Drokan and the Skuyr, they don't go from from their village where their homes are located in the trees for extra protection.

One morning, Elke awakens so hungry that she not only leaves the village alone but she also crosses the prescripted safe boundary and finds a bush of tasty berries to fill her empty stomach. Realizing she is being watched, she flees the Drokan male who was hiding in the bushes only to turn the tables on him. This encounter is going to change everything for both villages.

Loved the interaction between these two disparate beings who learn the lesson of working together to solve problems that are plaguing birth species. Besides, Alaric is a goofball who learns he had other talents besides cracking jokes.

Elke and Alaric . . .

It has become very difficult to survive. With a plague taking the life of each baby born to the Drokans and humans, there is little hope to focus on. When his best friend’s baby dies at childbirth, Alaric goes out on his own to look for food and to think about the rumor they heard that some mixed-species babies may be surviving. Elke is also exploring beyond the usual hunting area, desperate to find food. Alaric sees Elke eating a few berries and he has an unexpected reaction to the human female, heart racing and a buzz of excitement. The human sees him and runs off as he chases her. He knows he is scaring her, but he can’t stop himself. She throws some berries down another path, then hides in a hollow log until he heads up the false trail. Then Elke sets a snare with a crossbar trigger to trap the Drokan warrior because she knows she cannot outrun him. He comes back toward her, but he steps into her trap and the vines wrap around his ankle as he is hauled upside down into the air… and he is very impressed with the female, at least until she crawls out of a hollow log with a knife in her hand!

But instead of fear, the Drokan is charming and makes jokes of his situation! She doesn’t want to take him prisoner and have to feed him. Then he tells her his people need help and he wants to just talk to her. He is beginning to think she needs answers too. When she cuts her hand getting him down from the vine, he goes into over-protective mode and takes care of her wound. What is happening to him? Why does he feel this way? His gentle touch, the affection in his eyes, have Elke equally confused. But they talk, and both realize their people are experiencing the same problems with low birth rates. Can they convince their people to work together on finding a solution? If not, they will all die.

Alaric is a Drokan warrior whose people live in harmony with the land. Alaric is know for being a jokester but it is getting harder and harder to joke. Their village is in trouble because every baby is being born stillborn. When Alaric's best friend's baby dies, Alaric is desperate to help. Hearing a rumor that mixed race babies are surviving, he goes out looking for a human. He finds a woman named Elke who fascinates him. He chases her when she runs and she tricks him and traps him. The two talk and discover that humans are having the same problem. with their babies. Alaric talks Elke into coming to his village to share the news with his people. Hopefully the two people will learn to work together.

Elke is a human woman who goes out gathering food for the village. Times are rough with all the babies dying and finding enough food for everyone is becoming impossible. One morning she wakes up starving and decides to break all the rules. She goes out by herself and goes beyond the boundary her people have been told to never cross. On the other side she finds plenty of food and she also sees Alaric a Drokan warrior. He scares her and she traps him to save herself. However now that he is trapped, what is she going to do with him? To her surprise she ends up freeing him and following him back to his village. At first she found his jokes annoying but then they start to grow on her,.

I love Alaric. I know that he is seen as a joker, someone who cannot be taken seriously and yet he is a most clever, observant and understanding Drokan. He sees how humour can defuse a fight, how it can change the atmosphere of a gathering and change someone's focus. There is far more to him than just a clown. Where it not for this when he first met Elke she would never have considered going with him to her village. There would have been no opportunity to see the other side of things. As for Elke herself, she is not blind to what is happening in her own village and she believes that there has to be another way. Everyone else seems to have just accepted that this is it but somehow she feels that there has to be chance, even a small one. She has courage although she would not think it of herself and she has so much compassion. For the miserable times everyone is living through you desperately want them to find an answer. It is not something either can do alone but can a Drokan and human work together? Can ingrained prejudices be let go of?

“There is nothing preventing you from going further, I tell myself, except your own fears.”

“There is nothing preventing you from going further, I tell myself, except your own fears.”

Elke is in search of food, some hope would be great, but food is a must. Catching a Drokan with the same questions, who can make her laugh despite her fears? That’s entirely unexpected.

Alaric is on a crazy hunt for answers. Getting caught by a human with the same questions/troubles, and a few more as well, is a surprise… discovering if he can disarm her these two able Indians may be able to figure out what it takes to save both their villages, is more than he ever imagined.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read is a laugh out loud good time, with some serious issues offset by antics that bring genuine laughs, and pained chuckles of enjoyment. Whether it’s the village elders and their wisdom, or the younger generation stepping up, this story delivers.

Too many issues bothered me and I couldn't enjoy the book.
First off, how did humans and 2 species of aliens find themselves on this planet? There is no mention of this and I kept wondering how they got there. Why are the humans and Drokans so primitive while the Skuyr are so advanced?
The Drokan have wings...can they fly? It's only referred to once and the wings never seem to get in the way...even when getting undressed.
Why is the human village starving while the Drokan are not? They live really close to each other; so that's not clear.
The whole premise of the .
Alaric got on my nerves with all his stupid jokes; I couldn't feel any stem between him and Elke.

ELKE AND ALAREK (THE ANSWER TO THE UNKNOWN)

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A plague is affecting the babies born to the Drokans and humans and eventually the Skuyr, a technologically advanced species. The humans are barely eking out enough food to survive. They are always hungry. The plague is killing babies as soon as they are born. Alarek, is a Drokan jokester that no one takes seriously.

I really like the interactions between Alarek and Elke. The things the two do to get the answer to the world’s problems amazes me as they show a strong woman and a clever and loveable Drokan.

Alaric (H), a Drokan, finds himself ensnared in a trap set by Elke (h), a human hunter. AS they get to know one another, they come to realize that both Drokan and Humans are experiencing the same problems with low birth rates. The two will have to work together to escape a common enemy and to get their peoples to work together to solve their population problem, even as their feeling for one another grow. Lots of action plus some hot, steamy sexiness. A fun start to the Wives for Drokan Warriors series.

Another Beautiful Beginning

Similar to ‘Mated to the Alien Hunter’, in the timeline in which this story takes place, Drokan and humans are subjugated by the Skyur. This time, both Drokan and humans are affected by a horrible disease that killed the young just after birth. Something needs to be done; turns out, a young human woman named Elke and a young Drokan male named Alaric might have the answers. This story has plenty of twists and exciting events, making this a very enjoyable read for me.

jokester

Untamed Savage is book one in the series Wives For Drokan Warriors by author Athena Storm. Untamed Savage, is filled with everything that makes a book worthy. In this entertaining tale you discover along with the characters a common problem and enemy. When you find yourself in dire straits sometimes you can only use humor to lessen the blow. With laughs and a promise just maybe the two tribes can make it through.
Enjoy!!

When you are the only one who has decided to venture out further than usual and you are starved food do. don't make to much noise. She is luck an animal didn't chase her down for the food. But a Savage is good enough to make things "happen". His village is having issues. Her village is starving. What's a couple to do. Right get together and make steam. Whew! anyway they are fated to be apart? ahhh read the book.

I loved this book. Great world building. I was captivated- and saddened- from the start seeing the terrible affliction happening in the villages. I absolutely loved the characters. Alaric's personality was so refreshing. He actually completely cracked me up in certain scenes. I thought he and Elke made a wonderful match. This story was quite the adventure. I couldn't put it down. It had action and suspense. A fun read. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

Drokan, human and Skuyar on this planet all face a reproductive threat. I liked hearing information bits about each of the groups, and what finally brought them together. Elke and Alaric seemed quite young, curious and shared a love of humour. Their resulting path together was interesting and saw the return of hope and happiness for many.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Alaric, Drokan, and Elke, Human, and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with hopelessness, fear, danger, humor and steam.

Untamed Savage. #1

For some reason this didn't seem to be the work of Athena Storm. It was an ok book but not one that really catches you into the story. I was a little disappointed.

untamed savage

Rather standard imprisoned aliensbymeaner and nastier aliens that then promptly against all odds escapes and flies a airship where they don’t know how to fly but somehow end up where they’re going! Just cut and dried regurgitation from other novels I’ve read

The story was very nice. The characters were interesting. I would have like to see the story expanded a little more. There was plenty of room to do that.
