The night Sutter and Monica Steen leave for dinner, they never return home.
Two weeks later, the police drag their bodies out of the river, sending the town into a panic.
The Black River killer is back. Nobody is safe.
When another person goes missing, Jefferson Gildon, a police detective with a checkered past, leads the investigation. But it takes a twisted profiler to enter the mind of a psychopath, and only fugitive serial killer Logan Wolf can solve the case. The trouble is, the FBI is hunting Wolf, even as he tracks the murderer.
If Detective Gildon apprehends the murderer, he’ll redeem himself and stop the psychopath from stealing another life. But he needs Wolf’s expertise to apprehend this new deadly threat.
Lock your doors. The Black River killer is coming.
This one is a little different from the previous book, and I liked it a lot. The mix of who the main characters are in this part of the series is wonderful, and I'm looking forward to many more in the series.
While I seem to be in the minority here, this one was just okay for me and certainly did not live up to the first in the series. Good, high-quality plotting and writing, but I won’t retain much from this one.
The Stolen, the second book in the Logan and Scarlett Thriller series, is a fantastic suspenseful novel. As ex BAU profiler turned vigilante Logan Wolf tracks the Black River killer, the murderer will be hunting Logan. Meanwhile Detective Jefferson Gildon, police detective on the outs with most officers in his department will be hunting them both. Scarlett Bell will also help as much as she can from her desk at the BAU, putting her own career in jeopardy. A game of cat and mouse has begun…how many people will die before it is over. This story is fantastic. It has great characters, an interesting plot, and vivid descriptions. It is a story filled with twists and turns that keep you guessing and turning those pages. And the ending, well let’s just say that decisions will be made between Logan and Scarlett. I am now awaiting, quite impatiently, for the next instalment in this nail-biting series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really love Dan Padavona's books. They always keep you turning pages and guessing who the "killer" really is.
This is the 2nd one in the series about Logan Wolf . Logan is a rogue FBI agent, one of the best profilers ever. But, when his wife was killed and he was blamed, he turned rogue in hunting for the real killer of his wife.
In this one, he is still hunting and solving cases that the FBI can't. This one about a serial killer, The Black River killer. This killer has already taken three lives and Detective Gildon who is assigned the local case thinks there are more. Detective Gildon is being shunned by his police force as he had to turn evidence in against one of their own.
Now, Logan has come to town and he is searching for the killer. But, this time, will Logan get caught and involve his partners in crime, FBI Agent Bell. Don't miss this one!!
Hmm, I predict that there is no bad weather; be it storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, anything whatsoever, that this author, via his well developed (memorable, and daresay, likeable - least of all a serial killer of serial killers >think "Dexter"Pure perfection...no, not hardly, but for serious, or any readers for that matter, who enjoy a well told story with an awesome storyline, and a page turner of a thriller, it is as perfect as one could wish for. I love reading this author 'nearly' as much as I love ice cream, lol!
Sloppy writing. The written switches the sex of Sawyer multiple times, and even uses the wrong name once. Was this not edited? Also, Logan's speech patterns are all over the place. One minute he sounds like a Victorian Era protagonist, the next he's a dirtbag. It makes for a difficult read. Lastly, and this is a small complaint, having people in the FBI casually know of a drowning in a smaller Pennsylvania town thats ruled out foul play is beyond the pale. There are 45 homicides (on average) every single day in America. They wouldn't know about all of them, and CERTAINLY wouldn't know about someone drowning
Finished the first 2 books in this series, Dan Padavona did another awesome job. Carrying over the characters in some series is a difficult task for some authors, but Mr Padavona did it effortlessly , without missing a beat. Great read, patiently (not really patient) waiting for book 3 of this series. I have read all his series -- Darkwater, Logan & Scarlett, Scarlett Bell, Wolf Lake and Dark Vanishings Series. Guess I need to look for the standalone books he has out. Great author, awesome reads!
This thriller grabs the reader quickly and holds on until the end. The author sets the story up with strong feelings about an unjust “justice system”, a good cop who is persecuted and a killer who wants to “save those who have erred in life”. A fast paced and well written novel that skips the gore of the serial killer and the minutiae of the personal lives of the characters yet they are full fleshed and draw a response from the reader. An exciting read that’s keeps you turning the page.
I was sure I know who the evil doer was but with all of the twists and turn I really was not sure until the end and then it all made sense. Dan has a great character here that cares very well from book one to book two. His development of characters has you almost knowing them personally. Great twists and suspense to keep the reader wanting more. I really hope there is a book three in this series
The Stolen (A Logan and Scarlett Serial Killer Thriller Book 2) Dan Padavona
A thriller with Scarlett and Logan getting closer as a team. They are actually good but working under a disguise as to what they feel is the right thing to do. Logan is a vigilante! He sticks to killing serial killers and was once an FBI PROFILER as is Scarlett. They are likable and it feels like they leave the world in a better place. That is up to you to decide. Dan had me hooked after Book 1.
This book gets a 5 star review from this reader!! I really enjoyed this book. The mystery is evident from the first of the story. There is plenty of action and twists and turns. What more can you ask for? This kept me interested from the first page and didn't stop until the end. Definitely going to read the next book in the series.
I never figured out who the killer was till Dan Padavona revealed the killer. I got suspense, mystery surprise. I have mixed feelings on the Scarlett/ Logan relationship. It's kind of a dark/light relationship. I don't know how I feel about the ending and what will happen in the next book, because there was a twist thrown. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.
I love the way this author keeps the story going. He describes each character so you can get a feel for them. Once everyone is in their place we meet the villain. It’s edge of your seat reading from there. Love his style. This is my second book…. Now to book three.
As I read these two exciting stories, I can't help but think they would make a fine film. Better yet, a weekly TV show! Wolf could continue his important job and continue to antagonize Scarlett! I love the premise and look forward to more adventures!! Thank you for well written stories!
Fun to read. Logan Wolf is a great anti hero and the relationship with Scarlett is a great dichotomy. Really enjoyed the side storyline with Detective Gildon, and wonder if he is a future friend. Really enjoy all of Dan’s books and hope that Logan’s backstory becomes its own series
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read the next one in the series. Bell and Wolfe will be an excellent pair The book did keep me guessing right up until the end. You will love the suspense and will read until the end, it's an unputdownable story.
I will continue to hope the partnership of Logan and Bell grows even stronger, more trusting, more in tandum. Working together would be a prefect match but the secrecy makes the stories even more intriguing.
Looking for a rollercoaster ride of a read? Look NO further. The Stolen will have you guessing right up until the end. I was turning pages so fast i thought i would burn up my kindle. I can not wait for the next Logan and Scarlett thriller.
I have read many of Dan Padavona’s books, including the first one in this series. I enjoy the character development and trying to figure out “whodunnit”. I recommend this book as a great read.
Another serial killer, Another Mission for Wolf. As always, he uses his contacts in the BAU to assist him. This time the killer expects him and tries to kill him.
4.5 stars rounded up great as always! i was 100% convinced the killer was one certain character literally the whole entire time, but the plot truly did twist. i’m excited to continue the series, hopefully see more scarlett, and watch their partnership develop in the next books.
There were definitely a few possibilities as to who was the killer. There were certainly more than one qualifying suspects. There was not a lot of emphasis or attention on the actual killer but made sense in the end.
I read book one and now two making me officially done with this series. I didn’t think the first book was that great and book two was simply not good. It’s not fast paced, definitely not “unputdownable” and somewhat slow and plodding as well as predictable.
A middle aged man sat near his computer after watching porn with children ending up dead. In a town several hundred miles away a killer choses his victims. Logan travels to each of these towns to help justice return.
