Clem is faced with her toughest challenge yet—to answer when Rufus asks her to move in with him. Clem know that she wants to be with him, but she isn’t convinced moving in is the next best step.
If that wasn't enough to deal with, when Clem buys an antique wardrobe and a wizard climbs out of it, claiming to have been locked inside for twenty years, the big question is—why?
But before that can be answered, murder occurs. Now Clem is thrust into the middle of a whodunit.
On top of that, Malene is acting strangely, and Willard is convinced their relationship has run its course. Has it?
Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
I like how this is written in that as I read I feel I’m sitting with friends listening to them talk and the words Clem says are sometimes directed at the reader. For instance, here’s Clem’s thought, “Even though the bite I took was delicious—the icing was so sugary that it had a nice crust on it that paired with the moist sponge beautifully—it was simply impossible to enjoy it as much as I wanted to because, well, you know, MURDER.” She’s also funny!
Clementine’s dog Lady is very much part of many of these books - I love that! Animals/pets bring a certain kind of friendly element to reads. Lady very much has a personality that is quite loud and quite her own. She’s the type to push forward to get what she wants and doesn’t mind stepping on a few heads to get to the top… but only after she’s bitten the ankles of a few bad people that are after Clem first.
In the previous book, Clem was asked an important question by Rufus and after he assumed she’s answered to his liking, all stress and anxiety was oozing from Clem. The entire book spoke of her struggle within regarding Rufus’s question. She didn’t want to hurt Rufus by confessing to him how she really felt, but ends up breaking his heart anyway.
And let’s not forget about the man in the cabinet! It’s like Narnia’s - Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. What is the man doing anyway? Why is he in the armoire? How’d he survive for 20 years without food or water?
Well, another cliffhanger by Boyles as the “ending”: “A plume of grayish smoke rolled to the ceiling, creating a mushroom at the top. Behind it stood the outline of a person—who coughed. A hand waved away the smoke, and a man stepped forward.”
Who is this man, where did he come from, and what does he want?
Very good and fun read. This is book 12 in this series and it's focus is on Rufus and Clementine. The primary or overarching story is Rufus asks Clem to move in with him but she's concerned he won't want to marry her if she does and marriage is what she wants. When she mentions it to her grandmother, Malene blows a gasket, and starts talking about men not buying the cow when they get the milk for free. Meanwhile Rufus thinks she's agreed to move in but gets upset when she won't set a date to move in. They end up having a fight and he leaves.
The secondary story is of a magical wardrobe. When a man dies all of his belongings, including his house goes to his ex-wife. His long time significant other is left with nothing, including a place to live. When paying her respects, Clem see's the wardrobe and the family offers it at a ridiculously low price so she snaps it up for her renovation business. But later when she gets home and unlocks it a man comes out of it. A wizard who has been trapped in it for the past twenty years, but who has been kept magically alive. The very next day he's stabbed and killed. The mystery s who did it and why.
I really enjoyed this story and recommend it to anyone.

I loved this book by Amy Boyles. In this book Clementine buys a wardrobe and when she unlocks it, out pops a wizard. He helps her with her magic before he is murdered. She embarks to find his killer while her and Rufus are on the outs. Can she find the killer before its too late? Highly recommend this book
White Magic and Wardrobes (Magical Renovation Mysteries book 12
This was another winner. I highly recommend all her books and different series. Amy has a great imagination and her characters are great. I have read 3 + different series and read over 50 of her mysteries and they were all great. Diana Romano
Yet another entertaining and enjoyable story from the very talented author Amy Boyles. I just love the internal conversations of the MFC, not to mention her cantankerous Grandmother.
I was sad for the victim of this story, poor guy, returning after twenty years only to meet his end.
A short quick read, but very enjoyable as we all of the books in the series. I wasn’t quite as attached to this particular one as previous ones, but I did enjoy it. I’m really looking forward to hearing about the new character that was introduced at the very end… Guess we’ll find out in the next book!
What's going on with the mysterious wardrobe? Are Malene and Willard ok? Will Rufus finally stop talking and listen to what Clem is saying? All is answered
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
