Elinor’s holiday is nearly ruined when a poisoner targets the king and what’s even more irritating? Tristan Fontaine, the Duke de Archambeau, thinks to solve the case before she can!
Between saving a society lady’s reputation, comforting a girl with a ghostly brother, and conducting a séance for a widow, Elinor has her hands full. All she wants is to enjoy dinners prepared by the best chefs in the land, but Tristan’s mother and sister can’t stop giving bossy advice. It’s enough to spoil the dessert course.
Despite it all, she might still find time to enjoy herself especially if it means snooping through other people’s wardrobe closets
Trained as a medium by the elite Morpheus Society, Elinor Chalamet uses her skills to aid the police while she hunts for her father’s killer.
The second of a six part gaslamp fantasy ghost mystery series featuring a strong female character in a slow burn romance. _____________________________________________
A six part novella series for lovers of Gaslamp fantasy
#1 Ghost Talker #2 Delicious Death #3 Spirit Guide #4 Gray Lady #5 Haunted Grave #6 Ghastly Mistake _____________________________________________
Discover fearless women, clever as cats, partnered with men who fall first even if they do have a hidden agenda. Byrd writes riveting characters who are relatable but realistically complex.
Her book series showcase alternate histories with intrigue, fantasy, and the supernatural, while Byrd’s standalone novels are thought-provoking explorations of family dysfunction using contemporary settings and magical realism.
Elinor is bored. There don’t seem to be any gruesome deaths that need solving. However, she is excited to enjoy her holiday in a small town, Vouvant, and take part in the Winter Revels event. Why would she say no to delicious food?
But Elinor is not without projects for long. She has to save a young society lady from a society brute and help a grieving widow. What’s more, she also has to step in when her favorite chef is implicated due to an attempt on the king’s life. Elinor has help from Dr. Charlotte. But the duke feels he can solve the case before she can.
Elinor, being her, has to prove him wrong. But can she handle all issues at once and not end up risking her life?
The story comes from Elinor’s first-person POV.
My Thoughts:
The book is the second in the series and another fast-paced novella where Elinor is entangled in crimes of the nobility. The book should work as a standalone, though I recommend reading the first to get a better idea of the characters.
There wasn’t a death in this book though we had ghosts in plenty. How can there not be a dramatic ghost to create a scene and maybe help Elinor?
I enjoyed the dynamics between Elinor and the duke. This book has more chemistry and sparks, showing that their track is slowly progressing… you know. ;)
Dr. Charlotte had a bigger role in this book. It was great to know her a little more. Maybe we’ll get some backstory about her in one of the next books?
A certain subplot was pretty much ignored in this book. Also, an issue with a ghost seemed to be resumed (as a presumption).
The writing was easy and flowed well. The blend of genres was seamless and just the way I liked it. The depiction of nobility, their superiority complex, and the disconnect with reality were well-presented without shadowing the main plot.
There was a teaser for book three, which showed that the bar had been raised higher. I’m also hoping the book throws light on the subplot.
To summarize, Delicious Death is a fast and wholesome entertainer if you like mystery and ghosts in a historical setting.
Thank you, NetGalley, Rook and Castle Press, and IBPA Member Titles, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

P.S: Can I convince the author to let me read the manuscript for the remaining books? I won’t utter a word about typos or adverbs. :D
I loved book one so much and I was so glad to get book two! Elinor is a Ghost Talker and trained to be so. This is in an alternate 1800s sometime. Her best friend is a Doctor and a woman. Incredibly as that is, she also wears trousers! Scandalous! Elinor doesn't care what her friend wears. They are dear friends. They are both stared at funny because Elinor is often recognized as a Ghost Talker.
The Duke gets Elinor an invitation to the King's Winter feast where chefs compete. Someone tries to kill the King. The Duke and Elinor try to find out who the guilty party is before they succeed. Great mystery, characters, world building, fun dialogue, and ghost stories!
There's a sweet, innocent, and forbidden love starting to brew between Elinor and the Duke. Elinor is below the Duke's station and the Duke's sister reminds him often.
I love these stories with ghosts, mysteries, sweet romance, daring women of their times, and great characters! I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this terrific book!
· Witty Gaslamp fantasy with great banter; · Unique fantasy world with ghost, mediums, and murder; · Fast paced with interesting characters; · Combines historical atmosphere, fantasy, and paranormal in a winning combination; · Fantastic world building with a new approach to ghosts.
𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: I love to share my personal viewpoint of the story, parts I loved to write, or ideas about characters or plotting.
The Madame Chalamet series is a paranormal, fantasy, gaslamp, historical mystery series set in the fictional place of late 19th century-early 20th century Alenbonne (which sounds a lot like France).
Madame Elinor Chalamet is a trained medium belonging to the Morpheus Society who uses her skills as a Ghost Talker to solve paranormal related cases while searching for clues and details pertaining to her father's murder which she hopes will lead her to his killer.
Tristan Fontaine, Duke de Archambeau, is an aristocrat and a right hand man of sorts to the King of Alenbonne whose path crosses with Elinor when he requires her assistance and expertise to solve certain cases that could put the king's political and diplomatic position as well as his life in grave danger if not solved in time. The Duke also has a dark history related to his first wife's death.
In all the three books we see both Elinor and Tristan doing what they do best while indulging in some sharp witted banter. Being a paranormal series the descriptions of séances and Elinor's gift to interact with ghosts/spirits and travel to the Otherworld are easily explained and these scenes blend in well with the ongoing plots. Elinor finds herself with a new female apprentice at the end of book two who shows to possess some unique powers of her own.
As per the author, this is a six part series and I look forward to reading what happens next. My thanks to NetGalley, the publishers Rook and Castle Press/IBPA and the author Byrd Nash for the e-Arcs.
The second episode in the projected 6 part serial does not disappoint.
Elinor Chalamet wrangles an invitation to the Winter Revels, an annual festival sponsored by the king, but hosted each year by a different member of the nobility. This year's Revels features a multi-day competition between well known chefs. Elinor's favorite chef Gerhard Perdersen is among the competitors. The chef is also a client of Elinor's, as he is haunted by the ghost of Claude Frossart, a former lover. Elinor brings along her friend Dr Charlotte LaRue as her guest. This year's host is Count Westergaard; the location is his estate of Lindengaard, in Vouvant. The king is present, of course, as is his chief of security, the duke de Archambeau. The additional cast includes the duke's mother and sister; a young woman of good family, her careless guardian, and her very unwanted suitor; several people who want Elinor's help with ghostly matters; the other chefs, servants and someone who wants the king dead. Let the competition begin! The author packs a lot of action into this episode, alternating it with descriptions of the food. And she manages to tie up her various story threads in a very satisfying manner. I will say that I pegged the assassin early on, but that didn't spoil the fun.
I have the next episode(Spirit Guide) on order. The preview has me intrigued.
I'm so glad I decided to continue with this series. While I struggled a bit with the first book, I really enjoyed this one. I became more invested in the characters and the plot kept me intrigued.
When Elinor is invited to the Winter Revels, she looks forward to a holiday of relaxation and delicious dining. But when the king is poisoned, she finds herself in the middle of another mystery. With the dashing Tristan Fontaine, she must piece together the clues to find who tried to kill the king.
While this book was very entertaining, the author has only given little clues about the other mysteries: The murder of Elinor's father and the death of Tristan's first wife. I'm excited to learn more.
In addition, I'm giddy with excitement that *finally* Elinor and Tristan are beginning to explore their feelings for eachother. I loved their flirty banter and swoony moments. I look forward to more of their slowburn romance.
I'm officially sucked into this series and can't wait to read the next book!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Rook and Castle Press for sending me a free copy.
Elinor Chalamet's adventures continue as she attends a competition for chefs held by the king at an estate in tue country. There's an attempt on the king's life and a few side plots that demand Elinor's ghost talking skills. Interestingly, the main plot doesn't require her skills at all, but she and the Duc d'Archambeau work to discover the attacker.
This installment of the series places the stories firmly in "cozy" fantasy territory for me. The dialogue is fast and, at times, abrupt. Action piles on top of action, sometimes in a way that is jarring. The writing is tight and at times I wish there was a bit more room for scenes to get transitions, but the jump from scene to scene is somewhat necessary in a novella. The cruelty of the aristocrats of this world are on display in this book. At times, it feels a bit heavy handed, like some of the characters are so mean that they become caricatures.
The slow burn of Elinor and the duc's relationship is a high point. There was one point where they reverted to first names and it felt out of step, but they retreated to formal names soon after.
Madame Chalamet is wonderful. Book one of this series was so good and I so looked forward to reading the next book. I found it to be as captivating and entertaining as the first book. This is a fantasy that is so well written it reminds me of a collection of old paranormal mystery that my grandfather owned and this book like those just take hold and will not let the reader go. Excellent storytelling with divine characters I highly recommend and can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I received this book for free from BookSirens and voluntarily chose to review it.
Having been introduced to the medium Elinor Chalamet in the previous book in this series, I was looking forward to this second instalment and was not disappointed. Yet again I was transported back in time and immersed in another of Elinor’s mysteries, which kept me hooked. I felt like I was alongside Elinor as her holiday in Vouvant is ruined by a poisoner targeting a royal guest, leading to Elinor investigating. When an attempt on the kings life implicates Elinor’s favourite chef, she is keen to solve the case and prove him innocent. However, before she can return to the fun of the Winter Revels, she also saves a young society lady, and solves the problem of a widower who grieves too much, alongside using her skills, honed at the Morpheus Society, to help the police, whilst still hunting her father’s killer. Elinor is also annoyed by her love interest, the duke as he thinks he can solve the case of the poisoner before she can. This is an enjoyable and entertaining novella in this gaslamp fantasy, ghost mystery series, and I love that it has a strong female character in Elinor. She’s a likeable and relatable young women and her slow burn romance with the duke, offers an intriguing aside to her case solving. I look forward to book three, and continuing Elinor’s adventures.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this brilliant book
if you want spooky and ghostly then this is the book for you
its the 2nd book in this lovely series about madam chalamet and she is off to the winter revels to eat some fantastic food but along the way she has to sort out a few ghosts and a damsel in distress
Another delicious book about Madame Chalamet the ghost talker.
I loved the first book and this sequel certainly matched it!
Elinor is an excellent main character, she’s fierce and yet good hearted. Her ability (and education) as a ghost talker makes her very intuitive and an effective crime solver.
The Duke Archambeau is as annoying to Elinor as he is enchanting to me. But she finds him both attractive and and at times almost approachable. The sizzle between the couple is slow burning but that makes it all the more interesting.
Elinor’s sidekick, the willful and charming Dr. Charlotte LaRue, coroner and trusty friend, is another delightful character.
This time there is a lady in need as well as a King at risk while society, and some more common people, gathers to select the greatest chef.
Poison, conspiracies and madness intermingle while Elinor and the Duke strives to solve things. I read this book in one sitting and I’m really looking forward to the next part of the series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The plot: Elinor Chalamet is in the center of events again. She was just happy to be invited to the Winter Revels so she could eat all the delicious food prepared by the top Chefs in the country. Who would have thought the cooking competition would be so exciting and full of incidents?
This is the second book in the series, and I can say that I liked it more than the first one. And here is why:
1. the relationship between Elinor and the Duke is slowly progressing. Their interactions are funny, the chemistry is there. So, at this point, we are all waiting for something to happen.
2. we get to see more of Charlotte LaRue, the coroner and Elinor's friend.
3. the competition to solve the case between Elinor and Tristan (the Duke), each of them using different methods. But they were able to solve the case together, after sharing with each other the details they learned. #teamwork
4. Elinor takes on several cases at once, and helps people to rid of ghosts. It is captivating to read about Elinor's work, her processes, and her ethics. Many people might think that she is a fraud, but she is a true ghost talker, honest and professional, so it is great to see how she handles different cases and communicates with both people and ghosts.
Overall opinion: I really enjoyed this book! It was so good to see the characters again and read about their adventures. The ending has me intrigued, because there is a new character, and I have a feeling that she will be a piece of work. All in all, good story, humor, great characters, plot twists, and ghosts - these make a gripping and impressive book!
Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. I got an eGalley of this book through NetGalley to review. This is planned to be a six book series.
Thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. There's a lot of humor in here and the mystery itself is well done. The main characters are very entertaining as well.
This book again follows Elinor but this time she is attending a special Chef's competition at an elite estate. There she gets drawn into another ghost mystery as well as a plot on the king's life.
Although the setting feels a lot like Victorian London, this takes place in a fantasy world. The world isn't that well fleshed out since this is a more character driven story. All of the characters in here are highly entertaining and I love the witty banter between them. This time Elinor is traveling with Dr. Charlotte (who runs the morgue) and Charlotte was incredibly fun to spend time with. Of course, Tristan (the Duke de Archambeau) makes a number of appearances as well.
This is just a flat-out guilty pleasure read for me. I loved the plot and mystery, the ghost talking elements are intriguing, and the characters are loads of fun. I can't wait to read future books in this series.
My Summary (4/5): Overall I have really been enjoying this series. It is a humorous historical paranormal fantasy series with a tough heroine who is whip smart and very blunt. There is a good mystery here and very entertaining characters and banter. I look forward to future installments in this series and am happy that I picked up the first two books in this series for review!
Thwarting an assassination wasn’t on the menu. Elinor’s holiday is ruined when a poisoner targets a royal guest. What’s even more irritating? The duke thinks he can solve the case before she can. In the southern town of Vouvant, Elinor’s goal was to eat rich food at the Winter Revels, but an attempt on the king’s life implicates her favorite chef. Between saving a young society lady and solving the problem of a widower who grieves too much, she has her hands full. Trained as a medium by the elite Morpheus Society, Elinor Chalamet uses her skills to aid the police while she hunts for her father’s killer. The second of a six-part gaslamp fantasy ghost mystery series featuring a strong female character in a slow burn romance.

When her love of great cuisine put her on the tracks of dangerous beings…
As soon as I got my hands on this copy I had to read it. The romance might appears as frustrating as there is no real progress, it is stalling but in some way, the shared moment between Elinor and Archambeau show they are quite complementary even if the path before them appears as an impossible one. Whatever, the different affairs landing at her feet are so entertaining, the romance recedes in the background. I enjoyed this book as much as the first. Elinor shows an other aspect of herself here, mixing her cunning intellect and real talents to help persons in need but also those she cares about. Her friend Charlotte is also fun to get to know, her dry wit and view of life add some spice to this adventure. This book is a fun adventure mixing historical vibes, paranormal and mystery with a one of a kind tough heroine and her male counterpart, who needs to have his head bashed from time to time. 5 stars
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 none
I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Elinor is back as our ghost talker receives an invitation to attend a Winter Revel where her favorite chef is competing against other chefs. While there her services as a ghost talker are utilized to help a couple of people and on top of that the king, who is also there, is poisoned and suspicion falls on her favorite chef! Of course Elinor won’t stand for that and with her friend Lord Tristan they investigate the matter. The perpetrator will surprise you I’m sure! While all this is going on she also comes to the aid of a Lady in distress! Such is the busy life of this ghost talker!
This is the second in a six part series about a woman who can see spirits and converse with them. She helps them and those who are still living to find closure so both can move on with their lives both here and in the afterlife!
I enjoy the humor in this series and trying to picture myself in the 1800’s where this series takes place. Things were different back then and some of the things and ways of doing things then are brought to light which were certainly not right as we would see them now!
I recommend this book and series as one I think you’ll enjoy for Elinor and her doctor friend will keep you amused as well as their expertise in solving these mysteries and the poisoning of the king. In a time when women were to be seen and not heard or listened to, these two certainly have shaken up the way things were normally done in a man’s world.
I invite you to pick up this series and get to know Elinor when what she and her friend do is groundbreaking to say the least in trying to get women recognized as people and not possessions!
I giggle when Elior meet Tristan again, well she hit him with her bicycle! It is obivious Tristan Fountain The duke de Archambeau eager to spend time with Elior. Well they seem to miss each other but dismiss it. Its been two months with silent radio!!
Elior get invitation to attend Winter Revels annual cooking competition. Elior bring Charlotte the doctor also bestfriend, their friendship really heartwarming. In this event, Elior have some cases who need her ability as Ghost Talker. In any chanche you can see the duke try to approach her.
Elior show some trick like talking with subcuncious to heal guilty wound. It is show sometimes human mind make it is own ghost. I like it there are an explanation behind any case, logical and supernatural too like why ghost can go to afterlife, why ghost cant be summon.
When Elior heard about Tristan and his sister fight, she feel humiliated. Ouch. This slow burn to slow.. man.. i cant wait for book number 3!
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.
Welcome back to a world similar to the European past. It's a very busy story filled with frustrated ghosts, personal backstories on the main characters, danger, a cooking festival held in a rather seedy castle, new permanent characters, and lots of fun and witticisms. Engrossing! It's not really France, and the time frame is historic but indistinct. Loved it! I requested and received a free e-book copy from Rook and Castle Press/Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles via NetGalley. Thank you!
Okay so now I'm invested in these two characters. Elinor won my heart from the first book and I'm warming up to the duke. I'm invested in both of them now and can't wait to read the upcoming stories!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This author does not disappoint with keeping the reader guessing about what will happen next. The characters are enjoyable to read about and how they interact with each other. Great way to read how they broaden their relationships. I look forward to reading the next book.
1. Another amazing sequel to the ghost talker 2. The location changed to a country estate where a cooking competition was going on and someone tried to poison the king. Of course, Elinor and the Duke, Tristan rose to the occasion . 3. The amazing chemistry between Elinor and Tristan, perfect example of slow burn romance 4. This was also a very simple read
Elinor is in top form in this tale, both in her ability to help people with their lingering ghost traumas as well as her sleuthing skills. The Duke is affable, appreciative of her insights and lets her come a little farther into his carefully guarded life. On to number 3 !!!
Elinor is bored. Literally runs (or rides) into duke when testing out her new bike. While completely humiliating, it did allow her to receive an invite to the Winter Reveals, an esteemed competition amongst top chefs that the King himself attends. Elinor looks forward to sampling all of the dishes and seeing how her favourite chef goes in the competion, however when he is implecated in an assassination attempt, Elinor is eager to get to the bottom of it. This was another great instalment of the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Elinor Chalamet’s new adventure. I really enjoy the character of Elinor, more so when her friend, Doctor Charlotte LaRue is present and the banter between the two friends. I enjoy reading about the relationship that is growing between Madame Chalamet and the duke however am glad that the plot does not focus too strongly on this but rather the strong protagonist and how she reacts to the happenings around her. I will wait eagerly to devour the next novella in this engaging series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from BookSirens. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
With this second book in the "Madame Chalamet" mystery series, our bright, empathetic and plucky protagonist is off to Vouvant for the annual "by invitation only" king's Winter Revels. This year features a competition among the country's finest chefs and Elinor, accompanied by her coroner friend Dr. Charlotte LaRue, is pulling for her favorite, Chef Gerhard Perdersen. Elinor has the Duke de Archambeau to thank for the king's kindness and sure enough, he's there in Vouvant too, looking as handsome as ever. The competition is off to a great start until someone make an attempt on the king's life. There's a number of possible suspects. The Duke is on the case and engages Elinor's assistance in the matter. Can they identify and catch the perpetrator before someone really gets hurt, including themselves? Only time will tell.
This was a delightful addition to this series. Elinor's empathetic and kind handling of the spirits in transition along with those left behind on the earthly plane is charming and endearing. The dialogue is terrific, humorous and engaging. The world building is imaginative and cinematic in scope. The budding romance is chaste and a slow burn. All in all, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
I am grateful to author, Byrd Nash and her publisher, Rook and Castle Press for having provided a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Their generosity, however, has not influenced this review - the words of which are mine alone.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Back for round two, and I've now been convinced to sign up for the newsletter.
As in book one, we're following in the footsteps of Elinor and Tristan's (mis)adventures, first when she literally runs into him with her bicycle, second when there's another mystery for them to uncover.
We get to see a bit more into Elinor's work as the resident Ghost Talker, there's hilarious little ghost stories sprinkled throughout, and a rather nefarious mystery that's shadowed by men thinking they can do whatever they want when unmarried women are concerned.
Through all this, we also see a slight change in the relationship between our heroine and hero - at one point, at the height of a dramatic chase, they even drop titles entirely and call one another by their given names, which I think is super appropriate and a WILD change from everything else!
Also, I swear the Duke's been dropping hints about marrying her, but Chalamet's just not even listening which 10/10 infuriates him even more LOL.
This book also features a stronger introduction and role of Charlotte LaRue, the resident mortician as a solid side-kick, some helpful matchmaking, and a goat (no noblesse confirmation about that one yet!)
Overall, another wonderful installment in this six-part series, and I'm chomping at the bit to read book three!
This is the second book in the Madame Chalamet series. I really enjoyed this book. I love the combination of supernatural and mystery. Elinor is bored. Things have been quiet for her recently and there's been no reason to use her skills to communicate with ghosts. She is wanting some excitement in her life and boy does she get that when an invitation to the Winter Revels turns from what should be a enjoyable time into a time of mystery and danger as Elinor has to try and figure out who has made the attempt on the Kings life. When her favourite chef is under suspicion of the crime she needs to use all her detective skills to find the person who really committed the crime. Add to this a widower who needs help grieving their loved one and a young society woman who needs saving from a brute of a man and Elinor is definately over her feelings of boredom.
I love the mixture in this book and how Elinor uses her skills of talking to ghosts to help people as well as solve cases. There is also a slow burn romance in this story which I am excited to see where it leads. Elinor is a strong determined lady who isn't prepared to give up anything for a man so it will be interesting to see how this will evolve. I loved it and can't wait for the next one.
I normally love all of Byrd Nash's books; she has such a gift for establishing a unique "voice" for each of her heroines that you can't help but be sad when a story ends. Not so with this book.
The first Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries book was snarky and fun and this one...well, not so much. I'm not quite sure the about the main draw of the male protagonist in this series from this particular installment. I get that he challenges Madame Chalamet (sometimes) and is attractive but he is also disrespectful and rude to and about her and high handed. As a result, the strong and independent Madame Chalamet became a two dimensional simpering female chasing a man who treats her badly. And girls, we don't need any of that.
Maybe one of the other books in the series will show her love interest evolving into anything more concrete than an angsty one night stand in waiting. At least I hope so.
I also found the subplots in the story to be too numerous for a novella and that meant that the main climax fizzled when it came time to shine. Again, maybe the later books in the series will settle and let that solid snarky independent Ghost Talker be the fierce woman she is meant to be.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book for free and all opinions are my own.
I read the first book and loved it so immediately had to next this one next and it did not disappoint. I love it just as much as the first book, if not more! The story continues nicely from where the last left off and the relationships between the different characters only became more engaging. It was great to witness the ongoing interactions between Elinor and the Duke, how the growing attraction/relationship continues to grow from the first novella. The author once again impressed me with their writing style, I was easily able to envision the world they had created and felt like I really had fallen into the world walking alongside Elinor as she navigated the new scenery. While I was able to learn some more about my favourite characters there is still so much, I don’t know, but wish to, and so I eagerly await the next books in the series! Just as with the first novella, I could not put this one down and I can see how this will be the case for the entire series. I whole-heartedly recommend this series to those who enjoy historical investigative stories, ghosts and romance!
Ok, this series grabbed me from the first book, so much so I was willing to over-look the fact that I still have no idea where it takes place. I totally adored Madame Chalamet, she was clever, witty and her morale compass was unfailing and unflappable. And, Tristan Fontaine, the man with many names was dashing, clever and utterly respectful of her and her intellect.
When Madame Chalamet gets a chance to attend a Food Festival, she expects to share a good meal and enjoy a great competition. Instead she finds herself in the middle of an assassination attempt and in charge of saving the reputation of a lovely lady who is being stalked, but no man seems to care.
I inhaled this book and can't wait to read the next on in the series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another solid novella in this genre-mixing series. Historical romance, alternate reality, supernatural powers, mystery and adventure, Byrd Nash seamlessly combines them all. I am loving the series so far and excited to continue. I've got to see Madame Chalamet and the Duke get together!
This adventure takes place a few months after the first novella. As a reward for helping the crown, Madame Chalamet is gifted tickets to a food festival at a country manor. Of course, she takes her bestie, the fiesty Dr. LaRue and the Duke and his family are all there as well. After an attempt on the king's life the gang is on the case. There is a killer to catch, ghosts to crossover, and a romance to rekindle! It's fast-paced and fun.
Fans of Gail Carriger, Deanna Raybourn, Genevieve Cogman, and Anna Lee Huber will really dig this series. They are quick weekend reads.
