When my siblings book me on an all-inclusive cruise, I jump at the idea of a free vacation and a chance to get away for a while. Unfortunately, my meddling older sister left out a few important details—like the name of the cruise. Love at Sea. Is she for real?

If that’s not bad enough, she signed me up for a variety of activities and makes me promise that I’ll take part in every single one. She also failed to mention that she convinced Macy to book the same cruise.

This is my first book by this author. And really I was hooked right away! It had some aspects to it that reminded me a bit of my own kind of fwb to more story that I wrote in a novella. In a good way! Not the same story at all, just had some of the things I connected with. Both characters were real to me, and their relationship made sense. I got why both of them were a little unsure how to tell the other how they felt based on the rules they’d set. However it was great how those feelings got expressed. Even if I was frustrated a bit with how Macy left Tate hanging a time or two, again, it felt real, because I know I would probably do things similarly! I like how the ending didn’t contain any extra added drama. I like that we got to see how things would go and it was more like what I feel real life is like.

This was a great start to the series. It had steaminess, humorous parts, and a wonderful set up of this cruise for sure. So much I wish there was one of these trips I could go on. Or that someone in my life who wanted to help me out would send me on the cruise. I wish I would have time to read more in this series, because I’m guessing they’ll all be fun to read!

Love at Sea Series - Book 1

Tate and Macy have been friends with benefits in a ‘situationship’ over several years. When not with someone else, they end up together. At the beginning of this story, they find themselves on a ‘love cruise’ together giving them an opportunity to stay as they are, find someone new, or become more to one another.

What I liked:
* Tate Thorne: brother, runs family landscaping business, in need of a break, cares deeply for Macy, a nice guy and great with Marcy in more ways than one
* Marcy Carmichael: RN, only child, good friend, ready to enjoy vacation, never has wanted children, might care more deeply for Tate than she realized – took me a bit of time to warm up to her
* The people that Tate and Marcy met that could be longer term friends – might show up in books of their own
* The food and cocktails – sounded delicious
* The activities on the ship – never have been on a cruise and this one sounded like a lot of fun
* That Tate’s family cared enough for him to play matchmaker
* Marcy’s friend that gave her sound advice
* Finding out more about the two of them and their lives
* Learning about turtle research and that volunteers must sometimes be help out
* That Tate and Marcy seemed to belong together
* Wondering if any of the men met will ever visit Tate and Marcy

What I didn’t like:
* Knowing that irresponsible behavior, on a cruise, tour, or in real life, can be dangerous – as shown at least a couple of times in this story
* That it took a bit of time to warm up to Marcy

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series/by this author? Yes

Macy and Tate brought me along for what isn’t the adventure of a lifetime, but rather the start of THEIR adventure of a lifetime. Preferably for the remainder of their lifetime. Friends with benefits, neither knows that they’re on this cruise together. One knew what the cruise was and simply wanted to enjoy it, while the other found out while boarding and was stunned to find the trick played. But once they meet up and spend time having both their benefits and strengthening the friend bit, all seems to play out as it should. There are a couple of surprises, some very real truths shared, and some outings that hit in ways no one expected. I enjoyed the cruise without leaving shore while also glorying in Tate and Macy finding their way toward true relationship and out of situationship statue, hopefully for good!

Tate is really looking forward to this week long cruise. It's his first vacation in too many years and it;s a gift from his siblings. At the moment he only regrets not having the time to explore New Orleans before boarding the ship. His sister Taryn took care of everything from online check-in to activities and excursions. It's as he completes check and is welcomed by crew that he realizes what those siblings have done. It's the Love at Sea cruise, he wasn't going to thank Taryn now he's going to kill her for this. Even though all his siblings were in on it, Taryn is obviously the ringleader and will face his wrath. The thing is Tate doesn't want to find someone new, he wants to change his relationship with Macy, his longtime friend with benefits.

Macy drove to New Orleans and getting stuck in traffic has brought her really close to her scheduled arrival time. Fortunately, she's able to check her bags so running to check-in isn't too bad. She's now hot, sweaty, annoyed and in need of a drink. So that's where she heads first. As she wanders around the deck she falls in love with the ambiance. She really has to thank her friend Taryn for telling her about this cruise. It's just what she needs, starting with pampering all day the first day at sea.

Tate discovers he's signed up for Speed Dating at dinner that first night and since he promised to do all the activities Taryn signed him up for, he resigns himself to going.
Macy, on the other hand, is looking forward to it. She's sure she's not going to find that perfect someone, but she can enjoy herself in the process.

Ah, the speed dating, I laughed out loud even before Macy and Tate meet up.

Now Tate does get away with pulling her out of speed dating and to a club. There they both start drinking and talking. Unfortunately for him, Macy insists on sleeping alone.

Tate's consolation is that he's pretty sure Taryn has him signed up for all the activities Macy is doing. It's the Salsa lessons that will be a turning point and hopefully Tate can figure out how to let Macy know what he really wants.

I loved every activity and excursion we get to see these two on. They not only make new friends but their whole relationship begins to shift. The chemistry between Tate and Macy is off the charts and they truly sizzle off the pages.

I can't wait to read the next book in this multi-author series.

Tate has just landed in New Orleans and is disappointed that he won't be able to explore but there was no way he was missing out on the all-expenses-paid cruise to the Caribbean thanks to his siblings. It had been forever since he had taken a vacation and he would have to just keep New Orleans on his bucket list.

He was looking for the arrivals terminal when his attention was distracted by a cute brunette in the baggage line. Normally he wouldn't have paid attention, but when she grabbed her luggage to leave another woman blocked her exit and a heated conversation ensued.

Check-in was a breeze and everything is going fine until he was told to enjoy.....The Love at Sea cruise. He had to have heard wrong...now he knows why the woman was so upset. She had been set up just as he had been.

As he boards the ship, he group texts his siblings 'I'm disowning all of you'. He wished he could say there had been a mistake, but these were his siblings we were talking about and he knew that his oldest sister Tamryn was the ringleader. But, regardless he planned to enjoy this time away.

Macy doesn't know why she decided to make a thirteen-hour drive instead of flying. Now she is having to rush to meet her arrival window. She has just made it in time, but now her mood is destroyed from having to rush. She needs a drink now.

She can't remember the last time she has had to relax and she needed to remember to thank her friend Tamryn for telling her about this cruise. Despite it being a love cruise she plans to take full advantage of all of the amenities and relax.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Tate and Macy had been secretly hooking up for years and he had fully intended to let her know when he returned home that he wanted more from their situationship, but now he has the perfect opportunity to show her how much he cares.

This book is action-packed from page one and will keep you laughing. Liquor and a moving ship aren't the best of companions. This book is steamy hot and you feel like you are a part of their cruise excursions. Highly recommend!

Macy and Tate's friends-to-lovers story, but make it on a Love Boat but better-style cruise ship was a lot of fun! FTL is one of my favorite tropes anyway; add in an excess of sea turtles and a hero that's a better dancer than the heroine (and not afraid to flaunt it!), and I am so there!

Though I'm not the biggest fan of using a lack of communication as a reason to delay an HEA, a friends-to-lovers story can often get away with it since longime friends are often hesitant to "ruin the friendship" by having the talk, so it worked here. Since poor Tate was bamboozled into a love-themed cruise in the first place and Macy was also tricked into going by one of Tate's sisters (who also made sure neither knew that the other would also be on the cruise) there was an extra layer of fun added when Tate kept thinking he saw Macy on the ship before realizing that yes, it was indeed Macy he was seeing on the ship.

When they finally realized what had happened, then the fun really begins... ;)

Since this is the first book in a multi-author series, there are some secondary characters and events happening on the edges of this story that clearly will play a bigger role in other books, and they definitely might tempt you to check those out as well. It also seemed that Tate's siblings might have had their own books, since he mentions them all having found their significant others...still, since we only hear from one of those siblings on the phone, this worked just fine as a standalone. Though it did pique my curiousity ;)

This was my first book from this author, but it probably won't be my last!

“Have you ever been in love? Would you like me to describe it you?” -TikTok Classics 🤣

Seriously though, this book is an accurate depiction of that time you {really} thought you wouldn’t catch feelings after hooking up with your guy best friend. I was honored to receive an ARC copy in return for my honest review, and Kate Stacy did not disappoint! I’m no fan of spoilers, so 🚨 spoiler alert 🚨, you won’t be finding any of those in this review.

Macy and Tate are both well developed characters who quickly learn that they know exactly what they want after being stealthily placed on a cruise ship together by Tate’s sister, who is also Macy’s friend. They experience all the fun that a Caribbean cruise has to offer in this sweet, quick read. Some of the side characters on the voyage make for some well-places laughs-especially the elderly lady (trust me, I’d love to know HER story!!). If you’re looking for a feel good friends to lovers trip, definitely check out “Ship Happens.” As someone who usually reads darker romance, this story truly felt like a fun summer adventure…with a little spice 👌 Stacy’s storytelling genuinely makes readers feel like they are experiencing the Heart of the Sea with the characters.

Overall, I’d give the story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for characterization and storytelling. 🌶🌶 for spice, and ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ for sweet/feel good vibes.

Kate Stacy starts this multi-author series with a sweet romance for two friends with benefits. They are both sent on a cruise by his sister, also her friend. They don't know the other is on board until they sit down at speed dating. He doesn't want her to meet someone else, and she doesn't really want to either. These two are made for each other, but Macy has not confided some of her past to Tate and feels he will not want her anymore when he finds out. They proceed to have fun--from dancing lessons to rescuing baby turtles--and fall more in love without telling each other. There is a great deal of drinking to excess. Is this normal now? The drinking does lead to Macy telling Tate her secret and finding he still loves her. In love but not admitting it is a great conceit for a book, but I wondered why they hadn't figured out they were more than bunny/buddies—moderate amounts of good sex, one episode hilarious.

This book kicks off the Love at Sea series and I think it is off to a great start. I had previously read a book by Ms Stacy and enjoyed it so I was excited to have a chance to read this - and I was not disappointed! Macy and Tate have been friends with benefits for a while, but Tate realizes he wants more. More than what Macy is willing to give. Well meaning people in his life decide to meddle a bit and both he and Macy end up on the Love at Sea cruise. They have a chance to toss their rules overboard and maybe explore where their relationship could go.
The characters were all likable and well-developed and you can't help but fall in love with them. I enjoyed watching Macy and Tate realize what they had and watching them grow closer and their love blossom. This was a very sweet and heartwarming beginning to what looks to be an amazing series. This is the first of a multi-author series, and I can't wait to see what comes next!

I LOVE cruise ships and I knew as soon as I saw this series I wanted to read every last book that was apart of it!! Not only do I love cruises but I also love finding new authors, so it’s win-win all around!!

Tate seems like he was swoon worthy from the very beginning!! I couldn’t help but be eager to find out more about the reason for the deception and this author didn’t disappoint!! I love the whole friends to lovers read but I typically get heartbroken half way through…

Macy isn’t your typically woman and while I didn’t believe that, some moments of her changed my mind. I think I fell instantly for her along with how everyone felt about her too. I think my favorite moment was when they met the twins! I cried!

I swooned so stinking hard at every turn!! The fact that this happened to them made me swoon even harder during a tattoo moment! I am so giddy to read more of this group of people but I am so ready for more of the ship too!!

Ship Happens by Kate Stacy is one book in the multi-author series, Love at Sea. The stories all take place on a cruise… a love cruise. This story follows Tate and Macy who have been best friends but also have had some “spicy benefits.” Tate and Macy have been friends as long as they can remember. And someone has sneakily made sure they end up on the same cruise all about love. They always come back to one another and both are starting to realize they may want more. I loved this book. It was so fun and felt so realistic which made it relatable. Both are workaholics who just want to have a little fun. I felt like I was on the cruise with them and one of their friends. I think Kate did an amazing job writing such an engaging and funny story. I’d love to read more about Tate and Macy but I’m also looking forward to the rest of this super fun series. Oh and totally LOVE the play list inspiration at the beginning of the book, too! Makes for some bonus fun!

I'm so grateful that I got read this story since it was a happy book to clear out my upset at a previous book since it took me right out of my rage that's for sure. Macy & Tate are best friends with some extra benefits, but Tate wants more while Macy is the holdout. His family books him on a singles cruise but unbeknownst to him, his sister also talks Macy into booking the same cruise. Imagine their shock to see the other at a speed dating event, and Tate knows without a shadow of a doubt that he's not going to let her get away. I loved these two together, and it's always a delight when the heroine is the holdout for more. The supporting cast added in a great deal of humor which only made this story better if possible. Will Macy finally take a chance on more with Tate?! Well, you'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out, and trust me, this story will definitely make you smile! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Tate and Macy have had a mind-blowing "friends with benefits" relationship for years. When Tate's siblings' "gift" him an all-inclusive cruise, he jumps at it. Little does he know that his well-meaning meddling older sister Taryn has also suggested that Macy get away as well. It's no accident that they are both aboard the "Love at Sea Cruise" and booked on the same excursions together.

This book has it all: speed-dating, zip-lining, snorkeling, sea turtles, a breathtaking waterfall, sex in a cabana and much, much, more! Come along with Tate and Macy as they set sail, enjoy the Caribbean, have some great adventures together and realize that they are in-love.

Ship Happens is such a great fun read. Kate Stacy knows how to write uplifting, sweet and sexy stories.
Macy and Tate have been friends with benefits for years, but things are about to change. When State's siblings send him on a cruise for lovers he decides to make the best of his time but he knows there is only one person who will complete him.
After Macy ends a relationship and has had enough of life's stresses a friend recommends a cruise to rejuvenate her life. Little do Tate and Macy know they end up on the same cruise ship.
Tate is determined to prove to Macy that she is the one he wants for keeps and after a game of 2 truths and a lie brings hard secrets to the surface, its time for Tate and Macy to look at the relationship they have developed and if is strong enough to be more.
If light hearted fun and steamy romance is your choice you will love Ship Happens.

Can any friends-with-benefits "situationship" ever be purely platonic? There is no spoiler for Macy and Tate because it begins with the hidden feelings and conflict each has with their current relationship.

Tate is set up for a singles cruise by his family that Macy is also part of based on a suggestion from her friend, Tate's sister.

This is a perfect lay at the pool read or read before bed. It is steamy and romantic! Make sure to put your sunglasses on when reading the steamy parts in public.

Great way to start the series. I am excited to see if the other characters have been introduced in this book. I like "cameos" in series, as well as near misses. I am also hoping that a background character that is not colored nicely in this book gets redemption!

Amazing book and ready for an adults-only cruise with my fiance!

Fun & games on the high seas

What happens when two friends are sent on a cruise, a cruise for singles? Plenty of fun, games, and an adventure they will never forget. SHIP HAPPENS is a friends to lovers story that is a sweet, delicious, heartfelt romance. Macy Carmichael and Tate Thorn have a friends with benefits relationship, however the cruise has them realising that they mean so much more to each other. What will happen when the time comes for them to express their true feelings?

This was a fast paced, well written, fun read. The two main characters were so likeable, and the secondary charcters were just as entertaining. I loved the adventures that were shared, and how they enabled Macy and Tate to discover their truths.

A wonderful read to curl up with.

This is my first from this author so was excited to dive into a new author. This is Macy and Tate’s journey and it is and entertaining one. Thanks to Taryn, they both end up on a cruise not knowing. While on the cruise in the process of speed dating is where they realize that they are both there and neither want the other to meet anyone else. These two together are perfection. They take advantage of their time together on the cruise doing amazing fun stuff like rescuing baby turtles. Their feelings growing deeper and deeper. Will it work out when they finally allow themselves to just be together or will they always be scared to be more than friends. Well you must read it to find out. It’s a sweet friends to lovers romance you that is a recommended book for sure.

A vacation cruise that was arranged and paid for by his family was exactly the break Tate needed however he starts to have second thoughts when he arrives and finds out that it is a singles cruise. When he finds out that Macy is also on the cruise he wants to use this time to expand the parameters of their relationship and see what they could have together.

Macy was looking forward to the cruise that her friend and Tate’s sister convinced her to take however nothing is turning out as she planned. When she finds herself at a speed dating event that last person she expected to see was Tate or that it would have her questioning their relationship and the future.

It was so much fun to see that as Tate and Macy spent some uninterrupted time together it allowed them to realize that they are meant to be so much more than friends.

What starts off as friends with benefits very quickly turns into so much more than Tate and Macy ever expected . Ship Happens by Kate Stacey is the first installment in the Love At Sea series ( a series where every book is written by a different author ) I tend to read a lot of dark and bully romances so it’s not often I get to read a book that has the ability to put a smile on my face the entire time but that’s exactly what Ship Happens has done . Friends to lovers , angst , off the charts chemistry, romance, unexpected surprise , fun , sweet, sexy, humor , witty banter , heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, page Turner , characters that are so likable and relatable as well as unique and multi layered. Ship Happens has all of the above in spades .I loved loved loved every single moment of this amazing book

This was a nice short read that (hopefully) got me out of my reading slump.

Things I Liked:
-childhood friends to lovers storyline
-Tate’s sisters meddling
-the chemistry between Tate and Macy

Things I Didn’t Like:
-that we didn’t know the characters ages
-that Macy and Tate never a talk about children. We know Macy never wanted children (and now can’t have children). What about Tate?
-the lack of other characters in the storyline

Things I Would’ve Liked To See:
-flashbacks - they have known each other their whole lives. How was their childhoods? Did they go to the same schools? Tate realizing he was in love with Macy
-I would’ve liked to know their ages (this helps us understand where they are win their lives)
-more of Tate’s family - his other siblings, his parents
-an epilogue further into the future

Tate Thorne is taking his first vacation in years thanks to his siblings. He's getting an all-inclusive cruise which is great until he gets there and finds out the name of the cruise and the events his sister signed him up for and that he promised to take part in every one. She also didn't mention that Macy was going on the cruise too.
Macy Carmichael and Tate have been friends their entire life and have a friends with benefits type relationship. The more time they spend together on this cruise and doing the different events the more they enjoy spending time together.
Before the end of the cruise Tate is planning on Macy knowing exactly how he feels about her. Will Macy feel the same?

This was a fun book being on a much needed (love) cruise that was set up by his siblings to find a new love. Tate Carmichael has his mind set up about his friends with benefits in his hometown. Unbeknownst to Tate Macy was roaming around this huge cruise ship looking for her love. Having been on a cruise there was a lot of reminders about stopping at ports an gathering souvenirs. Walking into a speed date is when the action really began. Tate meets Macy an his feelings surface to his heart. There was much alcohol, good food an plenty of activities sexual an bucket list snorkeling for sea turtles. Adventurous, great plot an love. I’m giving a honest review for a ARC. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

WOW! What a fun and sweet read! I really needed Macy and Tate in my life. I have been reading dark books and this one was like a breath of fresh air. Just like cleansing the palate.
There is adventure, I mean a cruise?! What? Macy and Tate are two complicated people and together they have tons of fun, but they are fighting the pull. That is until Tate's sister takes things into her own hands and tricks Tate into going on the cruise knowing that Macy will be there also. SURPRISE! LOL!
Needless to say, there are sparks, and now they have to decide if they continue to fight the pull, or give in and go with the ride wherever it might take them.
I highly recommend this fabulous read, and I know for sure I will be reading more from Author Kate Stacy.

I loved this rom-com romance by Kate, and the book made me giggle a few times with some of Macy & Tate's comments. Tate's siblings decided to give him a well-deserved holiday as he works too hard. He's horrified when he realizes it's a dating cruise for single people. During the speed date night, he's stunned when one of the dates to sit in front of him is Macy. Macy is his friend with benefits whom he's loved since high school. He decides enough is enough, and no one else will date her while he's here. While doing activities and tours, they find out more about each other.
I received an arc for my honest review for NNBB. If you love a sweet romance with a few giggles and some fact-finding about each other, you will love this story.

Tate and Macy what can I say but this was awsome there friends with benefits he wants more she's had a bad relationship end dosen't want anything more or dose she well with the help of Tate's meddling sister and a singles cruise there no strings attached relationship will be tested. Tate has agreed to a singles cruise but he's not sure about it he's hung up on Macy. Macy is also roped into said cruise but neither of them know it till the speed dating event let the fireworks,romance,and hotness begin will there be a love connection by the end of the cruise because Tate isn't willing to give up on him and Macy being a couple so read and find out what Tate will do to win Macy.

This is the first book in an interconnected series with different authors and it was an easy, fun and sexy read that entertained you throughout.

Tate and Macy have been friends with benefits for a while and when they end up on a cruise together , thanks to Tate's interfering Sister, the lines start to blur changing their relationship into so much more and its one entertaining cruise

The characters were interesting, both the main ones in this book but the secondary characters i am looking forward to seeing more of in the rest of this series.

This was an adorable quick read and a great start to a new series! Macy and Tate have a complicated relationship. They like having fun together but don’t want things to get to serious…or do they? When Tate’s sister tricks him into going on a single cruise he is extremely surprised. Then he finds out Macy is also on the ship. This is a great surprise for both of them. The longer they spend time together the deeper the feelings grow. I enjoyed Both these characters and had fun meeting some side characters. I’m hoping a few of them get their own stories in the upcoming series! I’m excited about this series and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

OK, so this book is… OK. If you like a romance, if you like a friends with benefits who find love romance, this is your book. If you love the Caribbean and learning about what it’s like to be on a cruise ship, this is your book. I wanted to love this book because the plot line was different than any I had read in a long time. However, I just could not get hooked on the characters, the plot seemed to me more of a guide to a singles cruise ship and what it’s like to tour the touristy spots in the Caribbean. The writing is well done, the dialogue is interesting, the love scenes are what you would expect, and I found no trigger scenes or anything upsetting. It was OK, that’s all I can say.

Ship Happens by Kate Stacy is the first in the Love at Sea Books but can be read as a standalone. I completely fell in love with the characters in Ship Happens. From the main characters Tate & Macy to the bartenders to Gertrude and Jesse & Jason (twin brother’s). Tate’s siblings decide he needs a vacation so they book him a Cruise, little does he know his sister Taryn talked to their mutual friend, Macy who they have known for years about the cruise and she books as well. This book was awesome and I highly recommend Ship Happens!! I received this advanced readers copy for my honest review. Happy reading!!

Ship Happens with such a fun, romantic read. Once I started I could not put this down. Meddling siblings are such a pain, but maybe they know what they are doing (once in a while anyways). When Tate and Macy end up on the same lovers cruise, it's definitely not a coincidence. Macy has known Tate and his family since she was little. Both have feelings for one another, but they also have an understanding. Maybe they just need a little "push" and encouragement to help them figure it out. I laughed, cheered, and fell in love with these characters. This was such a fun book and I can't wait to start on the next one.
