First Impressions
A Man of Legend is the most latest release of the Lone Star Legend series, I am not sure if this is the finale or if we will get one more book in the series, but I will say that this one was my favorite of the series. I absolutely every single bit of this book. I was able to rotate between the ARC and the audiobook, which was quite fun to do with this book. I was impressed with how this one was written, as it charmed me in all of the best of ways. I was so fascinated by how this author was writing this book here. I will say that if you love audiobooks then you MUST grab this in audio, I felt like the narration was very well done and I honestly couldn’t put the audio down once I had picked it up. I was completely hooked. Another plus is there minimal modern sensibility in this book, as the previous two books had it more heavily, so I really liked it was a bit lighter. Those who have read this one probably know what I mean by this. I was definitely drawn into the family feud that was introduced and also the enemies to lovers romance that was on point!
Summary
A Man of Legend begins with the return of Crockett Legend who is on his way home on the train but he also runs into Paisley Mahone, who was the girl he once loved but hurt years previously. They meet on a train, and passions and tensions rise between the two. But Paisley refuses to trust any Legend,. The Mahone and the Legend’s have been in a family feud and neither family trusts the other. Now with Paisley’s father and brother killed, she blames the Legend family even though deep down she knows it was due to her brother’s crimes that he died in prison. Despite the fact that there is this turmoil between the families, Paisley can’t deny her feelings for Crockett, or the chemistry that is between them. Crockett knows that he hurt Paisley but now he is older and more mature and is determined to win his girl back, no matter what it takes. He knows that his family isn’t the issue in the feud and there are secrets that are hidden. But will Paisley let her pride keep her from embracing the kind of love worth fighting for or will she let the man who has always held her heart go?
What I Loved
There were so many elements that come into play that just fed my romantic heart with this book and I am not sure why I waited so long to read this one. I had the ARC and I feel bad for not reading it sooner, however, I really have to be in the mood for the modern sensibility of historical’s and I just wasn’t quite in the mood or it. But then I was in the mood and I ended up loving this story so much. First off, I have really been loving the enemies-to-lovers trope so much lately (I am not sure if it’s the water I am drinking or what haha) but I am loving all the angst. Plus it has the family feud theme and anyone that knows my reading tastes knows that is my catnip when it comes to historical westerns. I really loved that it had a second chance in the relationship as well. I was so intrigued that these two were once together and ended it. Honestly, both Crockett and Paisley made mistakes when they were kids. They have such a level of maturity that I was drawn to. They handled their new life situations so well and I definitely wanted them both to reach their HEA. Our hero, Crockett, is a lawyer and has been away to law school, but he decides to come home and win Paisley and his devotion to his family and to the woman he loves was so endearing. I really respected him dearly in this one here. Then we have our heroine, Paisley, who even though at the beginning she doesn’t trust the Legend family, she also begins to see how evil her brother has become. My heart ached for her sister-in-law and nephew (there are some triggers here so check the trigger warnings below) I also want to say that I adored the family bonds that we see are cultivated. Also, there were a bunch of side characters that I absolutely adored….we have a hilarious parrot and man the laughs this bird evoked were real y’all. Also, there is this young handicapped cowboy where seriously I would beg this author to write his story because he deserves it! The romance that develops between Crockett and Paisley was beyond loveable. You really see how their individual growth plays such a vital role in them embracing their newfound relationship and healing from the past. They have this level of maturity to let go of the hurts of the past and misunderstandings and start with a clean slate. I really admired their wisdom in building a fresh start together. They had these beautiful moments that evoked such tender poignancy which is sure to deliver in all of the feels.
What I Struggled With
I will say the only issue I had was the modernism within the heroine’s character. It was more lightly glazed, so it didn’t bother me too much. But I am sorry but this is Texas early 1900’s and women and careers were not normalized at all. There were some women that were driven to it, but society’s view of it was still more traditional. Heck even 20 years ago it was still like that haha It just didn’t feel that authentic and will appeal more to those that prefer the modern sensibility in their historicals. However, it wasn’t super heavily present, so it didn’t rub me the wrong way too much and is the only factor that keeps this book from being a full five-star read.
The Narration
When the audio was released, I knew I had to listen and I am telling you I listened to it in one sitting!! That is not common for me so that should convey how much I adored the narration, I am not sure if its the same narrator as the previous two books. BUT wow I am still stunned by the level of talent that was portrayed in it. This is definitely a narrator I will be listening to much more because their style just captivated me from the beginning and I couldn’t get enough and I became addicted to the style in which it was done.
Overall View
A Man of Legend is an epic tale of two lovers that have been separated and now come together and face their new fresh start as well as facing the dangers and secret reveals and embrace a strength together that is beyond endearing and will capture the reader’s heart!

What I Loved

Sometimes you won some and sometimes lost. And sometimes, if a person was lucky, they got a little miracle.

Renowned, respected, and feared across the state of Texas, the Legend family are larger than life, heroic, and frontier tough, but they have been pulled into a feud that makes it mighty difficult on the love life of one of their own. Linda Broday’s western romances are a particular treat with her attention to Frontier era flavor, sparkling romance, and an attention demanding plot.
A Man of Legend is the third and final entry in the Lone Star Legends series spinning off as the next generation to the Men of Legend trilogy. It is flexible and can be read standalone since the author fills in the backstory nicely, but I love these so I recommend starting from the beginning.
Crockett Legend screwed up when he was a young man. He let the love of his life slip through his fingers because he tried to force her to choose him or the career she wanted. A dispute of a piece of property divided the two neighboring families and she took her family’s side in the matter. Crockett hasn’t seen her in years, but he never stopped loving or wanting Paisley. He has a lot of trust-building to do, but Crockett decides she is worth it no matter what.
Paisley Mahone had given her heart to Crockett until he demanded she betray her very self and then the feud happened to chill the fires of love permanently. She’s a full-fledged nurse now with respect and her patients love her. Going home because her father passed brings her back into a volatile encounter with the man she put behind her, but frustratingly the sparks are still there. And, when she sets aside her anger, she is able to see that the youthful, demanding Crockett has matured and might be worth a second chance just like the Legends aren’t the evil people she has always believed on the word of her father and brother. Can she give the second chance her heart yearns for?
A Man of Legend is a full-emotion encounter and felt well-settled in the turn of the twentieth century descriptions from the period. It is charged with feeling from the get go. It feels enemies to lovers with a crackling tingle of electricity between Crockett and Paisley and then slowly resolves to something deeper touching on a whole lot more than family feuding and loyalty. Crockett spouted off immaturely and arrogantly when he was younger, but he has spent years learning and developing into a solid, thinking, man- a man strong enough to stand beside an equally strong woman that Paisley was and is. She’s take charge because of her nursing calling and she has had to fight to earn her chops. I loved seeing her in action. And, I loved seeing this pair get back on track stronger than ever through adversity.
The feud was ugly and at the heart of it all was a greedy, hateful man who I wanted to come to a nasty end. A couple men determined to take unlawfully what they couldn’t get honestly were behind it all. It made for a good, taunt tension and action element in the story. I felt sorry for Paisley a little, but her vulnerable sister in law and kids a lot. But, it was ultimately a chance to see Crockett and the Legend family in action once again which I wouldn’t miss for worlds.
Incidentally, I have to give kudos to Casanova the Parrot who stole the show several times with his timely random phrases when things were getting too angsty.
I did not want this book and series to come to an end. I even dragged my feet about starting this last book and wanted to take my time with it, but it wouldn’t be reined in and carried me along through to the amazing end. Finishing strong and leaving me feeling euphoric and fondly dwelling on the world and bits from the series I most loved, I can guarantee this will make a favorite reads list for the year. Historical Romance fans who want some western frontier action should definitely pick up the series for try.

A Man of Legend is the third book in the Lone Star Legends series. The main character Crockett is Houston and Lara's son, whose story was told in The Heart of a Texas Cowboy. The majority of this book takes place on the Lone Star Ranch, so you'll see a lot of familiar faces appear if you've read any of Linda Broday's other books. It was such a delight to see how everyone was doing and I could really feel the love between all the members of the Legend family. This book is a second-chance historical western romance. Paisley Mahone is Crockett's love interest. They broke up when both of them went their own ways to pursue a career. Crockett became a judge and Paisley a nurse. At the start of this book, Paisley doesn't want anything to do with Crockett because she thinks he had something to do with all the bad things that have been happening to her family. However, the longer she's is around him the more she can't deny the feelings she still has for him. Crockett is straightforward and tells Paisley that he never forgot her and decides to pursue her.
A Man of Legend was a great addition to the series and I enjoyed being reunited and seeing what all my favorite characters were up to. I also loved the banter between Crockett and Paisley, and thought they were a great match. Paisley is a strong and independent woman, and I really enjoyed seeing her protect her family. This book was fun and romantic, but it also had a couple of action-packed scenes that had me on the edge of my seat. Linda Broday is always able to find the right balance between romance and suspense. She is able to keep me intrigued and hooked until the end. I am also always very connected to the characters and feel like a part of their family. Linda has become one of the authors whose books I automatically pick up without having to read what the book is about. There aren't many authors on that list so I really enjoy the stories Linda writes and trust her to deliver great plots and characters every time. I already look forward to her next book.

A moving enemies to lovers tale to see this series to a close.
A feud might have kept Crockett and Paisley separated but it was more the all caveman way of thinking of Crocket which tore them apart.
At the beginning I wondered why Paisley took her family’s side in the feud, sure their is the blood loyalty but she could have decided to stay neutral. After all she has lived and knows the Legend all her life, she even fell in love with one. So what turned her against them when she is a woman full of empathy, perfectly aware of her kin’s flaws.
Her hurt runs deeper than a mere land’s dispute, she has been wounded in her soul by the man she loved and thought accepted her in whole, dreams and hopes.
Still now caught in the crossfire, what choice does she has…
Crocket knows he made a mistake years ago, one he is still paying dearly. He went all cowboy on Paisley and it broke her trust and faith in him. The feud only added oil to the fire, making it an impossible task to apologize for his highhandedness when the war for the piece of land keeps them apart.
Since he has matured, loosing the woman of his life made him review his world outlook, women should have the same right to follow their dream, never to be impeded because of their sex, they might not have the physical strength of a man but their will can be as hard as steel.
And the women around him are the daily proof of it.
So this is more a slow healing tale than an enemies to lovers as they mend their relationship. One step at a time. The love never left them, they just buried the feeling, Crocket in the hope to be able to prove Paisley he changed and is proud of the woman she is now, while Paisley’s wounds altered her trust in the man who was her everything until he rejected her right to follow her own path.
The story sees many side characters, all supportive, from Crocket’s relatives to Paisley’s patients, bringing sad and joyful moments.
Casanova is the unexpected breath of fresh air.

A moving enemies to lovers tale to see this series to a close.
A feud might have kept Crockett and Paisley separated but it was more the all caveman way of thinking of Crocket which tore them apart.
At the beginning I wondered why Paisley took her family’s side in the feud, sure their is the blood loyalty but she could have decided to stay neutral. After all she has lived and knows the Legend all her life, she even fell in love with one. So what turned her against them when she is a woman full of empathy, perfectly aware of her kin’s flaws.
Her hurt runs deeper than a mere land’s dispute, she has been wounded in her soul by the man she loved and thought accepted her in whole, dreams and hopes.
Still now caught in the crossfire, what choice does she has…
Crocket knows he made a mistake years ago, one he is still paying dearly. He went all cowboy on Paisley and it broke her trust and faith in him. The feud only added oil to the fire, making it an impossible task to apologize for his highhandedness when the war for the piece of land keeps them apart.
Since he has matured, loosing the woman of his life made him review his world outlook, women should have the same right to follow their dream, never to be impeded because of their sex, they might not have the physical strength of a man but their will can be as hard as steel.
And the women around him are the daily proof of it.
So this is more a slow healing tale than an enemies to lovers as they mend their relationship. One step at a time. The love never left them, they just buried the feeling, Crocket in the hope to be able to prove Paisley he changed and is proud of the woman she is now, while Paisley’s wounds altered her trust in the man who was her everything until he rejected her right to follow her own path.
The story sees many side characters, all supportive, from Crocket’s relatives to Paisley’s patients, bringing sad and joyful moments.
Casanova is the unexpected breath of fresh air.

Highly recommended to both romance and Western aficionados.

I just love all Linda’s stories!! They’re so sweet and heartwarming with just the right amount of suspense and of course romance. I will be ordering all of the first Legend Men series which I haven’t read yet. She is in my auto buy list. I want to read everything she writes! Her books make me feel so happy inside.

I can always depend on Linda Broday for an excellent read and "a Man of Legend" does not disappoint.
This book is an excellent finale to the Lone Star Legends series.
The Legend family pulled me in at book one and is a family I want to read about, story after story, book after book, series after series, and generation after generation.
Broday not only writes great heroes and heroines but she has many excellent supporting characters in each book that often includes fun animals. This book includes a fun, unpredictable, loud mouth of a patriot named Casanova and no one ever knows what he'll say next.
This was an excellent read, as is all Linda Broday books and I highly recommend it.

I am not a fan of westerners simply because thats a lifestyle even today. Most authors when writing them become over dramatic with their presentation. I thought Linda Brody did a wonderful job developing the characters and the setting. I believe she did this well because she lives in Texas.
This was my first book of Linda Brody that I have read. I believe I shall read some more.

Paisley took her father's side in the war against the Legend's. Now Paisley was on her way home to her father's funeral. On the train she runs into Crockett Legend the last person she wants to see. This story will warm your heart. It's full of action, danger, secrets and forgiveness. 5 stars all the way!

Paisley is such a layered character, and I love her growing relationship with the Legends (especially Crockett!). She is an educated, intelligent, and independent woman who proves how capable and strong she is throughout the story. Paisley is also kind and caring, and she has a wonderful way with her patients and her vulnerable sister-in-law and nephew. A skilled nurse, Paisley doesn’t cower when confronted with intense situations. Instead, she faces them head-on. I love her fighting spirit and her take-charge attitude, as well as the vulnerability and sensitivity that she fights to conceal. The one person that she lets her guard down with is Crockett.
Crockett has changed quite a bit since Paisley last saw him. Now a judge, Crocket is responsible for the incarceration of Paisley’s brother, which led to her brother’s death. She hates him and blames him and his family for the deaths of several of her family members. Paisley doesn’t trust his intentions, and she fears giving her heart to the man who already broke it once before. I loved how Crockett worked to earn back her trust and love. He is a good man with good intentions, and his devotion to Paisley is swoon-worthy!
The romance between Paisley and Crockett is great. It’s clear from their first meeting on the train that there is still chemistry between them, and that chemistry only grows. Since they are from feuding families, their romance has some Romeo and Juliet vibes. On top of that, they had a chance at love before, and it didn’t work out. Plus, Paisley’s abusive and out-of-control brother is a constant threat, and they face danger at every turn. These, as well as several other obstacles, stand in their way. Paisley, in particular, has to decide if their love is worth fighting for, and the more time she spends with Crockett and the Legends and away from the toxicity of her family, the more she sees what (and who) she wants in her future.
The Legends are a larger-than-life family filled with wonderful characters, most of whom were the focus of other books in the series. Many of them have roles in this book, which is fantastic! I love the Legends and seeing them together, supporting each other, laughing and having fun, and working together is like a family reunion I never knew I needed to attend. There are some wonderful scenes between the younger and older members of the family as secrets are shared, problems are discussed, and family events are attended together, and there are many touching moments. They are such a close-knit family, strong and supportive and kind, and they were such a pleasure to read about.
A Man of Legend is the final book in the Lone Star Legends series, and I’m sad to say goodbye to these wonderful characters and the Legend family. That being said, this was a lovely conclusion to the series, and I’m so thankful to NetGalley, Linda Broday, and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! This book has the romance aspect, but the suspense and characters really make this book.
A western family feud sets this story up, but so many secrets unfold as the the plot progresses. The personal vendetta stemming from a real bad apple adds to the suspense/thriller aspect that kept me hooked. I definitely felt the feeling of secretly being watched right along with the affected characters.
I hadn't read any previous books and it wasn't really needed due to the fantastic character development. I felt like I really got to know both Paisley and Crockett. Their relationships with family members and Paisley's patients really helped the engagement with those supporting characters. The supporting characters were written in such a way that they didn't cause distraction due to quantity and really helped play integral parts in the plot. My favorite character was definitely Casanova since he "spoke up" at the right times and provided some comedic relief. I was waiting for him to be a romance moment spoiler.
I enjoyed this book enough to want to go back and read some of the previous books!

Crockett and Paisley were such a powerhouse couple.
I love their willingness to put aside their teenage breakup, their ability to bury their family’s feud, and rekindle the love that poured out of each of their hearts.
The secondary characters were powerful in this story.
Wait until you meet Casanova, he stole the show with his “Walk The Plank”, “Kiss Me Baby”, and anything else he randomly blurted out.
Dallum certainly will squeeze fans hearts as this young cowboy never gave up hope, thanks to Paisley’s determination to save his future.
Hilda and Tye were destined for a tortured future, but as Legends are known to do, they invited them onto the LoneStar Ranch, embraced them with courage, strength, and love.

Dreams and dreamers, Ahhhhh, to be one of them. To be able to look into your heart and soul, see what you want and know it will happen. Dreamers make the world go round. There would be no advances in medicine or technology if it weren’t for dreamers. How boring life would be without dreamers. Who are these dreamers? In a Man of Legend, it is Paisley and Crockett, possibly Hilda and Tye. We see their dreams coming true in a myriad of ways. But, is it hard for a dreamer to trust in their dreams? Most definitely, yes. What is a dreamer? A “dreamer is a person who visions their ambitions to plant the seeds of the future. Dreams are realities in waiting.” Author Unknown.
In A Man of Legend, realities abound and try to trash the dreams of those so inclined, but dreamers will continue to dream until it is reality. So why do dreamers make A Man of Legend such a special book? Because, Linda Broday, in her infinite wisdom, shows her readers reality and dreamers are a part of reality. Her characters are so real, you feel you know them and will be friends forever. You feel their pain and their frustration. But Linda Broday lets them develop as if they are real people.
For example, when Crockett first met Paisley, he was a brash young man who thought he had the answers to everything. Losing Paisley, he found who he was and found his dreams. While Paisley thought she could resist him, her heart knew better and slowly but surely, she fell in love with the new Crockett.
I could go on and on about this book. As wonderful as Linda Broday’s books have been, this has been the best one yet. However, I mush mention the ending without giving anything away. Linda is one of the few authors that can take an ending that ties it all together and make it a surprise ending. You have to read to the last sentence or you will miss out.

The Mahone and the Legend families have a feud going on - well at least the Mahone's have decided to feud with the Legends. The Mahones are the closest neighbors to the Legends - they have decided that the Legend family is to blame for everything that has gone wrong in the family. All of it stemming from a poker game where Joe Mahone lost a big piece of land to Stoker Legend.
Paisley Mahone and Crocket Legend have a history together. But Crockett's sexists feelings on a career for Paisley and maybe just being young kept them from getting married. Since then - Paisley has sided strongly with her family against the Legend's. When Crockett steps in to stop a train robbery and saves Paisley in the process - he realizes how much he wants to renew his relationship with her.
Paisley and Crockett have a long road to happily ever after - but once they reconnect and Paisley comes to see how her view of his family has been skewed by her brother and father. I loved the time period for this book - there is just so much change around them in addition to the personal changes - plus progressive views of women in the workplace really starting. I also loved - how the women of the book really came to the rescue at one point!
Overall - I definitely recommend this one - especially for fans of the Legend family.

I have enjoyed every book in this series and am sad to see it end. The Legends are well, legend! They are what people think of when they imagine the West and what Texans are....independent, loyal, strong, brave, family and they won't be pushed around. However, when there is a feud, look out! Crockett and Paisley have loved each other for years but they are on opposite sides of that feud. However, Paisley quickly comes to realize that her family has no leg to stand on. It was all her father and brother's greed and evil thinking that drove them to create a feud that wasn't really there. Her brother, Farrel, is one mean guy! He creates a lot of problems for the Legends, but I was very impressed at how they never sought revenge. They always went through legal channels to try to get him stopped. Paisley is a nurse, and I enjoyed her nursing patients so much. She was made for that job! Although the story focused on her and Crockett, the other characters were wonderful. The author really developed all the characters. The young boy, Tye, was a delight, along with the parrot, Cassanova! I loved so many parts of this book. It was hard to see it end!

One-sided family feud
Crockett and Paisley were childhood sweethearts who parted ways in 1898 to pursue their separate careers. Ten years later, their reunion is complicated by the layers of hatred her family has for his, which is both undeserved and covering up a much bigger threat to the peace and stability of their little corner of Texas.
This is my third excursion to the world of the Lone Star Legends, and with each one I'm more and more convinced that I need to carve out the necessary time to go back through this author's catalogue and start at the Legends' beginning. The author has created a fascinating Old West setting with authentic characters and old-fashioned values, painted with vivid imagery and imbued with heartwarming emotional scenes.
There's a certain villain who tests their loyalties, but most of the story surrounds Paisley's nursing work on Crockett's family ranch. I really enjoyed reading about how she stepped up and was able to be such a miracle worker for so many who needed her. I loved the way the women banded together to take care of the threat against them, and I thought Casanova was a hilarious addition, especially how he made himself useful as a guard.
There are gentle themes of conservationism and egalitarianism, along with an early form of employer-provided health care that I wish had become the standard. This is perhaps an idealistic view of life in the early 1900s, but that's exactly what I read romance fiction for and this story checked all my favorite boxes.
By the end of this exciting journey, happiness prevails for all our favorite characters, justice is served for the rest, and the extended epilogue was the perfect wrap to an amazing legacy. I couldn't have loved it more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Crockett and Paisley were childhood sweethearts who parted ways in 1898 to pursue their separate careers. Ten years later, their reunion is complicated by the layers of hatred her family has for his, which is both undeserved and covering up a much bigger threat to the peace and stability of their little corner of Texas.
This is my third excursion to the world of the Lone Star Legends, and with each one I'm more and more convinced that I need to carve out the necessary time to go back through this author's catalogue and start at the Legends' beginning. The author has created a fascinating Old West setting with authentic characters and old-fashioned values, painted with vivid imagery and imbued with heartwarming emotional scenes.
There's a certain villain who tests their loyalties, but most of the story surrounds Paisley's nursing work on Crockett's family ranch. I really enjoyed reading about how she stepped up and was able to be such a miracle worker for so many who needed her. I loved the way the women banded together to take care of the threat against them, and I thought Casanova was a hilarious addition, especially how he made himself useful as a guard.
There are gentle themes of conservationism and egalitarianism, along with an early form of employer-provided health care that I wish had become the standard. A family feud separated lovers Crockett and Paisley years ago and in A Man of Legend, we get to see these star-crossed lovers find their way back to each other.
Listen family feud, Romeo and Juliet-esque elements, and some wonderful side characters is my perfect formula. I felt so much for Crockett. He was SO determined to win Paisley back and protect her. I loved how fierce he was in his love for her! Poor Paisley (and I say that loosely cause she’s a badass). Her brother was HORRIBLE. It’s heartbreaking to read about these two being forced apart, but the way they come back together is so organic and made so much sense. The Legend Family just needs to adopt me. I adored them. The way they take in Paisley, Hilda, and Tye with no questions asked in order to save them from Paisley’s awful brother melted my heart!
The side characters were fantastic and had so much heart. Dallum, Paisley’s patient, absolutely stole my heart. He was so funny and witty. Loved him!
Can we also talk about the cover?? I’m just in love with it. It’s SO pretty.
This book gave me such nostalgia. I don’t usually read westerns anymore, but I bonded with my Grandma over them as a preteen. She’d sneak them into my backpack when I was probably a little too young to read them (she was something else lol) and I just know she’d have loved this one! This really got me back into western romances. They hit the same at 25 as they did when I was 13!

I Loved It! Suspenseful and Gripping right from the start. Not your typical Western but Linda Broday has her own unique writing style were she weaves this trip to the old West with guns blazing on this rollercoaster ride that brims with tension-building twist and turns that swirls down into a vortex of terror, murder and a depraved, malicious enemy and his hired guns that terrorizes their victims. A Man of Legend is a heartstopping, edge of your seat story filled with characters that come off the pages and pulls you into their tale, sizzling passion, action packed, with a superb plot, and family love. The scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story in this action-packed romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the danger escalates the suspense builds and uncertainties abound that will make you hold your breath until the end in this outstanding story!

This is a second chance, enemies to lover's trope. We have Paisley and Crockett who once upon a time had a young love affair only to end it when their family had such animosity that they could just not continue it. Years later they run into each other on a train but Paisley still has holding onto that hatred since she has lost so much of her family and is blaming the Legends for it, and Crocket can also admit that he has also made some mistakes that he needs amend before he even has a chance with her, but now that he has seen her he does not want to let her get away again, she was the one that got away. And my friends, things get pretty hot and heavy, and excitement begins...Enjoy!

Readers can count on Broday bringing a solid read about families, villains, spurned love, and second chances. I love that her stories are situated out west. Crockett and Paisley are divided by a vile family feud, except there’s more to the story. Crockett wants Paisley, but she’s too wrapped up in family revenge to give it a chance. Until she begins to see the light. This is the last book For the Legend family, but don’t despair. I’m sure the author has plenty of new characters, ready to emerge.

Paisley Mahone has returned home for her father's funeral. According to her brother somebody poisoned their well. He blames the people from the nearby cattle ranch.
Crockett Legend is glad to see his childhood sweetheart, but she hates everything to do with his family.

This is a western historical romance filled with lots of great characters, even the feathered one. There are a lot of emotional scenes and plenty of danger.

A second chance romance between the MCs who's families loath each other! Beautifully written...
Crockett & Paisley - strong characters, beautifully portrayed and all the secondary characters were well written too! The story was well developed and it made for an emotional read.
I hadn't read the previous two books but could still connect with the story and characters without difficulty.
Looks like this is the last book in this series.

A Man of Legend is the third, and last, book in Linda Broday's wonderful Lone Star Legends series. In fact, it's an end to the entire saga of the Legends. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have loved all that I read of this marvelous family, but I do recognize that it's time to move on. (I'm just a wee bit weepy at the moment. It's funny how some fictional families become so real to us over time.)
Growing up, Crockett Legend and Paisley Mahone always figured they would be together. But times changed, and Crockett was more interested in building his law practice, then becoming a judge; he didn't take seriously Paisley's ambitions to be a nurse. They grew apart. But then came the family feud between the Legends and the Mahones. Paisley's brother died in prison, and he was sentenced by none other than Crockett. Now Paisley's father has died, and she is going home to bury him. She and Crockett end up on the same train, which is held up by outlaws. A young outlaw is shot, and they work together to keep the boy alive. Things become tense for Paisley at home, when it's obvious her brother Farrel has become an evil man and he wants her dead. Paisley, Farrel's abused wife Hilda and son Tye are taken in by the Legends to be kept safe, even knowing the danger will grow. Will Crocket and Paisley take advantage of the second chance life seems to have given them?
This book was the perfect ending to this series! It was obvious Crockett and Paisley (his nickname for her was "Firefly"...so sweet!) were meant to be together. I liked the fact that before the family feud broke them apart for years, they separated because their lives seemed to grow in different directions. It gave them both an opportunity to reflect on what happened and where they had gone wrong.. Once the animosity about the feud was set aside, they knew how they had to work for the life they desired together. Crockett had become a judge, but cattle ranching was still his true love. Paisley had grown to be quite an accomplished nurse, and she was able to assist the Legends when the doctor for their compound broke his leg. Crockett was very protective of Paisley; but like all the women for the Legends, she was no shrinking violet! She fit right in with the rest of the clan women. Their wonderful chemistry and sexual intimacy was on the page, but it was not graphic, keeping with this series. It dealt more with emotions than the descriptions of acts. There were some great side characters here, such as Paisley's patients Dallam (an injured cowboy) and Gus (a cantankerous man who liked to throw things). However, props must be given to Casanova, a talking parrot who was left to Crockett by a deceased friend. That noisy critter stole the show. It was great to be reunited with a lot of the Legend family from previous books, especially 89-year-old Grandpa Stoker. The epilogue was bittersweet, but also showed the love this family had for one another and their futures. I hate to see the end of the Legends, but I'm really excited to see what Ms. Broday comes up with next for us...it's bound to be fantastic!

This is the second Linda Broday I have read - I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Mail-Order Bride's Secret and snapped up the opportunity to read this book, the third in the Lone Star Legends Series.
This book jumps straight into explaining the background of the two main characters, Crockett Legend and Paisley Mahone. Their families don't like each other, and even though they once had history, they haven't seen each other in 3 years. The action leaps into a train robbery and the story kicks off from there.
Paisley is a nurse and Crockett is a lawman of sorts investigating her claims into wrongdoings by his family against hers, so their paths keep crossing and they realise they still care for each other.
Although the romance element of this book didn't really sweep me away, I really liked the other characters, especially Dallam, and the storyline was interesting enough to keep me reading. I don't read a lot of Historical Westerns, but this one seemed well researched.
I think the author is a talented writer, but I didn't love the romance in this one.

A Man of Legend by Linda Broday is the 3rd and final book in her wonderful Lone Star Legends series. I have become a big fan of Linda Broday, as her historical western series are fantastic. Even if I do not read a lot of historical romances, I will read anything by Broday.
Crockett Legend is a judge and family member of the famous Legends. Years ago, Crockett’s father, Stoker, won a bet with the Mahone patriarch, giving him ownership of part of their land, and from that day on a war began that still festered to this day. Crockett always loved Paisley Mahone, but because of this feud, their relationship fell apart, with Paisley taking her father’s side. It’s years since Paisley returned (she became a nurse), and now with her father’s death, she is on a train home, only to held up by outlaws. Lucky for Paisley, Crockett is on the same train, and manages to save her, as well as others on the train.
Paisley is the heroine in this story, and she was great. After the funeral, her brother Farrel was threatening the Legends, not to mention abusing his wife, Hilda and young son Tye. In a short time, Paisley begins to see that her father and brother were evil, and lied about the things the Legends supposedly did. One night, Farrel threatens Hilda, Tye and Paisley and they run for their lives, to end up on Legend land for help. The Legend family are awesome wonderful people, and they make room for Paisley, Hilda and Tye on the Lone Star ranch. At the same time, Paisley, who is also a nurse, gets a job to help the doctor who broke his leg, and she takes on his cases to help the local people on the Legend land. I loved how Paisley visited each of the injured people, as well as two pregnant women.. It was fun and enjoyable to watch her take control.
In a short time, the relationship between Crockett and Paisley escalates, as they realize that they both still have feelings for each other. They made such a great couple, that we rooted hard for.
What follows is an exciting story with nonstop action, heart stopping dangerous situations and a sweet romance between two people that we could not help falling in love with. Farrel was an immediate danger to both Paisley, Hilda, Tye, also to the Legends and their ranch. They manage to find clues of Farrel’s deceit, but he managed to be one step ahead, and despite Crockett and family putting guards to protect them, the threats were still dangerous. In between the humorous fun at times, (Casonova the parrot was a riot), and Broday once again gives us great secondary characters, such as Dallum, Hilda, Tye, the pregnant ladies, etc.
Linda Broday once again gives us another wonderful finale to this fantastic western historical series. A Man of Legend was an emotional & heartwarming story, with a fabulous couple, great characters as well as exciting and suspenseful. If you enjoy historical westerns, you should be reading Linda Broday.

This book wraps up the unforgettable Lone Star Ranch stories. Crockett Legend fell in love with Paisley Malone when they were just kids. But a family feud tore them apart and to add salt to the wound, Crockett, who is now a judge, had sentenced Paisley's brother to prison for crimes he'd committed. Then the brother died. There is no way they will ever be able to get past the bitterness. Or is there?
Only Linda Broday could craft a story so compelling out of such broken pieces. Evil abounds in this story. Hatred and spite take center stage.

This is such a neat series. I love that we get to follow the kids on their journey through life now. Crockett & Paisley have an interesting story and I am glad I read it. This feels like an old school romance that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. I loved the premise and how they worked through it. I love the Legend family and hope there will be more books around the family.
