I knew three things growing up. One that I would be best friends forever with my girls. Two that we’re smarter than any of our classmates and three that we were determined to get into Legend Springs University. The most elite college in the country. What I didn’t know was the mysteries surrounding the school and its inhabitants. Especially Riftyn Brooks and his friends.
Riftyn-
I grew up with my best friends as brothers. No one could break through our walls or infiltrate our “pack”. Until her. From the moment I met Kimble Sawyer, I knew she was mine. No matter what it cost me.
Do you believe in true mates? Forever love? Bonds that can’t be broken? Explore the world of Legend Springs in Only Human, Book One of the Legend Springs Series.
*Only Human is a Paranormal Romance, with medium to fast burn levels of heat. No triggers and characters you can fall in love with.
I don’t often rush to review a book so quickly after reading it…but I felt this book (and hopefully series) deserved it.
It’s beyond surprising that this is a first release; a new author in the paranormal romance. The writing and the flow was effortless and came off as if I’d been reading books by this author for years.
The story was cute and unique, honestly it completely kept my interested from chapter 1. Come the end knowing what the other books could be about I was so eager to read more I searched in hopes a second book was on pre order.
Avoiding spoilers cause that’s just not my thing; I loved the characters and the world the author created. I love the humour and the personalities of the girls and the boys. There’s so much to go further in this world and I really hope another book will be out soon cause I want more!
Great start to the Legend Springs series. Looking forward to the rest!
A great start to a new series by a promising new Author. With this book, Alex Raine proves she has what it takes with this intriguing start to her Legend Springs series.
This book follows 3 young women who have been best friends all their lives. All were raised solely by their Moms who are also best friends. The girls suddenly find themselves accepted to an exclusive University they don't recall applying for...but they sent so many. Once at the University, they soon begin to discover all is not as it seems, nor are they
In this book, the girls have a whole lot more to deal with than just the typical new college student being away from home for this first time, classes and schedules. They're also dealing with the discovery of who and what they are, learning to use and control their new powers, jealous classmates and the dangers and threats they pose and their new boyfriends who are fortunately there to help them.
Really looking forward to Alex Raine's next book in this series.
I fluctuated between rating this 4.5 or 5 but I'm ultimately going with 5 stars because a lot of world-building went into this story, plus there was a fun take on half-breeds. The first half of Only Human focuses on fated mates while the second half focuses on self-discovery. I liked the special way half-breeds were portrayed in this urban fantasy. I also liked where Raine dropped us in, as readers. The first chapter was super attention-catching.
This was a great start to a new series, which I look forward to reading more of.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Kimble, Mila, Willow, and Piper have distinctly different personalities, but they share a common sense of devotion to one another. The guys aren't as fully realized, but I expect to become better acquainted with them in future installments. The story is plotted well, I love the surprises, the magical elements are imaginative, and the looming menace is appropriately foreboding and the perfect lure toward the next book in the series. It's also looking like a mistake from one character's past isn't quite as "past" as believed, which adds to the intrigue and ratchets up the tension. The biggest surprise is the sheer humor woven throughout, mainly courtesy of Cosa (but Willow contributes, too)! I look forward to more from this author!
This book is so much fun! I laughed, cringed, cried and loved all of the characters (I think Willow and Zane are my favorite. Or maybe Lucien is. Hmm... I am not sure I'll be able to pick just one!) I cannot wait for Book 2! Alex Raine did a fantastic job, but don't take my word for it, grab it for yourself!
Only Human By Alex Raine is the first book in a new paranormal series set at place called Legend Springs University! I really enjoyed this story and getting to know all the characters. Alex Raine did an excellent job with world building and really drawing the characters out. Three best friends attend the most elite school in the world that just happens to be for the supernatural. Of course the catch they didn’t know it was for the supernatural and now they have a lot to figure out. The book follows them learning about their abilities, the people they meet and of course the people out to get them. If you have not checked out this book definitely do. I can not wait to read book 2 and see where the author takes us next. Great job to the author!
What a great start to a fabric series. I really enjoyed this debut story by Alex Raine. There is great world building and fantastic characters. I loved the relationship ship between Kimble and Riftyn and I adored the bonds they have with their friends. I loved that the story has multiple points of view. I love that there is such a mix of paranormal. I'm !liked forward to more from this world.
This book is amazing. I love the whole storyline. The characters are perfect. This book hits all of my favorite genres. You have True Mates, Shifters, Good vs Evil, and a journey of discovering yourself. If you love a story where there's 4 strong minded females and 4 Alpha Males that would do anything for each other then this is the book for you. Believe me you won't be disappointed.
‘Only Human’ is anything but! At the onset, you’re pulled into a world of paranormal of an unknown variety. Coupled with jealousy, animosity and fated mates, 4 x over! Packs by choice, this group of college freshman not only step up to the plate, but knock it out of the park! The only disappointment you’ll find is that book two won’t be published until mid-May. Enjoy!!
Freaking Fantastic! What a debut! Alex Raine created such in depth characters in so few pages. As with any novella it went quickly but that did not take away from the amazing character building and world building. The story was fantastic. I would have loved this even more at double the pages!
I adored this book. The story is enticing and the characters are wonderful. I can't wait to read the other books in the series, although thankfully, this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger.
