5 One Inhale and I Was Done Stars ⭐

Let me tell you there wasn't much I didn't like about Carnage Island. This story was not what I expected. I went in expecting a dark, slightly abusive non consensual romance but it was nothing like that. I mean with that kind of title, I didn't anticipate three badass shifters who utterly adored their mate.

Welcome to Carnage Island, little one.
Are you ready to play a game?
It’s called hide-and-seek. You hide. We seek. And then… we bite.

It's a revelation when during an arranged mating ritual, our heroine Clove is exposed as a half breed. As all hell breaks loose, being rejected is the least of her problems. Being exiled to Carnage Island full of criminal, feral wolves for something that isn't her fault is certainly dire.

My wolf has a death wish. She’s a fucking psycho. And she’s going to get us killed. Because she decided to take a nap in the Carnage Island Alpha’s bed.

Clove has no control of her wolf. As customary of her pack, females are not allowed to shift till mated. Yet now that her wolf is out, she has her own mind and opinions. The brat has come out to play and honestly she was freaking adorable. The minute she recognises the Carnage Wolves, Tieran, Volt, and Caius as her mates, she's intent on wreaking havoc.

Something about these males, perhaps their power and Alpha auras, is calling to a foreign part of my being. I can feel it simmering beneath their knowing gazes, threatening to take control and leave me a writhing mess on the ground.

As leader of his clan and pack, Tiernan has been on the lookout for an Omega. The final piece to complete his family. But being so rare, he wasn't expecting Clove. Weary of her mixed lineage and the reasons for her being on his island, he needs a little more convincing. Whereas Volt and Caius are sold from get go.

“Real wolves know how to properly satisfy themselves and their female, Clove. Real wolves don’t take a fucking harem when they have a mate. Real wolves are faithful. That is why I can’t just take another Omega on the side. Because I’m a real fucking wolf.”

On an island where nothing is what it seems, their wolves are immediately in sync. Yet there are shady politics to contend with, so it takes a little longer for all the human sides to be on board. This story was so bloody hot with three sexy, kinky Alphas and one extremely feisty heroine built to take on all these beasts. I loved the dynamics and how effortlessly I got sucked into the story. No sword crossing, just a lot of knot action. 🔥🔥

Lots of smutty goodness and a story too!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😠😘🤓🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Full Cast Duet Narration

The heroine: Clove - She is the daughter of the beta in her wolf pack. She is set to mate with the Alpha’s son. Their pack has a tradition that the females don’t shift until their mating ceremony, when their mate forces them to shift. During the ceremony when Clove shifts for the first time, everyone in attendance is surprised by her wolf. They frame her for the murder of her mother, put her on trial and send her to Carnage Island.

The Heroes: Tieran, Caius, Volt - all three are alpha’s. Tieran is the strategist, Caius is the brains and Volt is the brawn. Caius and Volt defer to Tieran as the alpha of the Carnage Island pack. They are the Black Mountain pack, they are the white wolves of Carnage Island, the most dangerous island on earth. Carnage wolves are known for their savagery. Of the reject islands, Carnage Island is the one were the worst rejects go, and the one island that has no authority except those that live there.

The Story: Clove’s former alpha assumed that she wouldn’t survive long enough to talk about what happened to her and her mother. However, she is stronger than they think and she finds that at first meeting, the three alpha’s she meets seem kind and caring not brutal and savage. Clove is unable to shift back into her human form since her mate never relinquished her from his hold and they take care of her.

The story was good and was original. I liked the idea of Carnage Island, though it is hard to say how they got the terrible reputation, since most of the people there were pretty nice and much better people than the pack that clove originally came from. I did like the characters and the world building was good. Though I thought they explained how the Black Mountain pack treats an Omega a few too many times.

There are some good action sequences, some mystery and betrayal by some of the pack members. The book was super steamy and quite smutty, but there was also a good storyline about the rivalry between the packs and how the black mountain pack wanted to get back at the other pack.

This book is told in dual points of view via full cast (duet) narration. It was narrated by Sarah Puckett, Kale Williams, Jack Calihan, and Jeffrey Holz. They all do a great job. I didn’t know who did what voice, but Tieran had a british accent which I liked quite a bit and the other two men have deep voices which matched their characters well. Sarah Puckett has a pleasing voice as well.

Thanks to my girl Cass, for the recommendation!

This one comes out swinging with some infuriating brutality that left you chomping at the bit for revenge.

Just as soon as it incited my rage it enticed my heart. Because Clove’s wolf is freaking adorable. And the different ways each of the three males reacted to her was just as cute.

Typically I can choose who I like best, who I enjoy least. This time around? Not the case, I can safely say I approved of Tieran, Caius and Volt equally.

At times the hints for the conflict were too obvious. Such as Clove’s sire and the way it all came to it’s climatic apex. The steam was also a bit redundant but that didn’t take too much away from the overall hot factor.

I enjoyed the revenge, but I’m not gonna lie, I wish it was more brutal. Especially after what occurred in the beginning.

Overall an entertaining, well written read.

*3.75* Let be begin by saying, I really enjoyed this story! Loved the alpha/omega dynamic and there was plenty of steamy steam to be had by all! These alpha men were super alpha, but also tender and caring. What a fabulous combination!

If this story had stayed true to the first half, it would have been amazing. Those scenes with her in her wolf form were unique and really special to the character and story development. However, the plot gets a little convoluted in the middle and feels somewhat cheesy knowing I found the big issue keeping the men from “claiming” her was kinda silly, especially since

I would have liked a steamy scene with all four of them, but those scenes with three were plenty hot. I also liked knowing some of the other pairings on the island had m/m dynamics, while this was strictly m/f with sharing. No sword crossing here.

Side note. *It bothers me that this is not the author’s first time using raping a women to death as a plot mover or to show the mentality of a character. Usually those rapes/murders are off page, but in this story, I don’t feel this level of violence is necessary to show the cruelty of the characters.

This book would drink Budlight and call me a slur from a lifted truck with a pro-life bumper sticker at a stoplight.

Carnage Island was all things sexist, objectifying, and misogynistic, and I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

The book automatically starts off with a whopping r*pe scene in the second chapter after Clove, the main character, discovers that she's a product of such things, and multiple men r*pe her mother in front of her as punishment. Now, it isn't a heavily detailed scene, but it's still one that is traumatic, especially for Clove. However, all things trauma seem to be thrown overboard along with our main character here because once the three "savage" alphas rescue her, all her problems are solved. Right off the bat, all three of them bet/discuss which one will sleep with her first before they know so much as her name or age.

The men in this book don't hesitate to repeatedly tell the main character that they're physically stronger than her, even going as far as pinning her down/pulling a knife on her to make a point. But don't forget that Clove's only purpose-- as an omega, character, and woman-- is to go into heat, lay still for a mediocre f*ck, and bear offspring.

I found this book rather disgusting and was surprised that the author was a woman, not a middle-aged white man. I was astonished that every sex scene includes, but isn't limited to, male genitalia being shoved inside her "slick channel," "screaming, but seeing stars," and lastly, "weeping all over his c*ck."

So if you're looking for a book written about "real" alpha men for alpha men, look no further.

My Review

This was fabulous and this author always writes excellent shifter romances. Its reverse harem and has omegaverse elements it instantly managed to engage my attention with its solid world-building and intriguing storyline.

This is not a dark one, of course, there are instances of dark stuff throughout but that mostly concerns the unfolding story the relationship at the centre of this is actually very sweet and has such an adoring protective vibe.

Clove at her claiming ceremony is revealed to be of mixed heritage resulting in tragic results a rejection by her future mate and banishment to Reject island. Terrified and still stuck in wolf form Clove expects the worst especially considering all the dire tales concerning carnage wolves the dominant force on this island of supposed rejects.

But nothing is at it first seems and Clove is Instantly taken under the protection of the dominant alphas of the island they sense something very special in Clove. Turns out she is a precious rare omega the very thing they need to complete their triad clan.

This was super hot the chemistry between Clove Tieran Caius and Volt explosive. Each male in this story felt distinct with their own separate character traits. The plot itself was interesting and there was a good balance of heat vs plot included.

I especially loved the characters overall dynamic the easy care and affection Clove’s potential Alphas displayed towards her. I didn’t find this one particularly dark there's not really any dubious consent here either it all felt extremely consensual whilst still managing to retain all the alpha deliciousness I wanted.

I Definitely recommend this it was such an engaging read it’s a stand-alone and was very well written. This author can certainly write and always delivers for me a big thumbs up. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Carnage Island (Reject Island).

Dnf @ 56%.

T is weird about the whole procreating thing
V is weird psychopath with knife play kink
C was probably the only one i liked before dropping this book

Clove on the other hand…… idk what to feel about her either. I liked her, i understood where she was coming from but she accepts this whole thing so easily and its so disturbing. Some of it feels like borderline rape-y tbh

This book is one of the instalments in the “Reject Island” series, but it can be read as a standalone. While there’s some mention of other islands and characters that I can only assume were featured in other books, I wasn’t at all confused jumping straight into this one.

While the cover and the blurb make the book seem dark, it’s more in the vein of romantic suspense. The alphas, despite their reputation, are very protective of Clove and pack. One of the strengths of this book is the pack dynamics, the way that alphas have clans and how they operate in this unique shifter world, and the suspense plotline running through the book makes the story truly compelling. When Clove was sent to the island as punishment, she wasn’t expected to survive, and there’s a lot of pack politics that takes over the book, overpowering the romance plotline to a degree. We get scenes from all four protagonists’ points of view, and I loved dipping into each of their heads as they each provide a unique perspective on their world and the situation. All in all, I enjoyed this suspenseful and steamy shifter romance!

The cheeky trigger warning failed to warn about so much death by r*pe

I don’t like when authors used sexual violence as a way to make their villains more villainous. It’s hard for me to not think “An author wrote this. They created these characters as nothing more than objects to have the worst violence acted out on them.” It’s supposed to say something about the bad guys but really only ever makes authors seem crass and unimaginative. Raping a living thing to death is a horrible, terrible thing. Not something to toss on the flames of a werewolf book. Exploitationism at its lowest.

Never read a lot of books with the omegaverse kind of subject before but was very interesting to read about all the things surrounding it. Not sure if it was just this book specifically but was cool to learn about omegas and alphas and how they function. The story was engaging and it was very steamy but I felt like I was missing some social chemistry between the omega and her mates. Was a lot of lusty ones tough. But a good read overall and I want to read more werewolf books like this in the future.

HUGE TRIGGER WARNING FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE BOOK!!! Since the author and Goodreads did not provide me with that very important trigger warning, I am going to give it to potential readers after being traumatized with that unexpected scene.

I am 100% aware that this is a dark Omegaverse romance and yes, I DID read the author's warning of dub-con scenes in the book, so I went into this feeling prepared. So fucking wrong. There is a straight-up rape scene in the 1st/2nd chapter of the MC's mother by at least two men. The assault is off-page but present-tense, so we're reading about her mom screaming and pleading. The author HAS to fix that trigger warning. Come on! You had the foresight to warn against dub-con, but you completely ignored the rape scene at the beginning of the book?! Are you fucking kidding me?!

Lexi C. Foss, the small bit of this book that I did get through had excellent writing, but you completely let me down by not including full-on non-con in your trigger warning. To some readers like myself, there is a huge difference between dub-con and non-con, and it influences my decision on whether to try a book or skip it. Please please PLEASE fix this!

Bite me.
I mean…
So Hot.

This was just… YES!

The mix between paranormal & Omegaverse was absolutely delicious.
It held all the best aspects of both genres & I am here for it.
It was hot, steamy, romantic & a little rough.

The characters complimented each other & the storyline moved nicely along.
And did I mention it was hot?
The yacht scene has to be my fave because well… delicious.

3.5 ⭐’s
I picked this up because I thought it was a rejected mate scenario, and technically Clove is rejected (per the blurb), but it’s not the typical layout, and it doesn’t generate any rejection feels. I still enjoyed it, but more in an entertaining, fluffy PNR read with likable characters.

The blurb sets this up, Clove discovers her half-breed/reject status on the night of her claiming and is immediately rejected by her family, mate, and pack. She’s sent to Carnage Island where she meets Tieran, Volt, and Caius. These menage/RH romances come in different “flavors” and here, the H’s are part of a brotherly clan that share the h. Simply put all scenes are MFM with zero MM action.

I also like that Tieran’s clan is more brotherly than romantic. They don’t seem shy about sharing me, but they don’t appear to be sexually into each other either.

The author’s note at the beginning warns readers of omegaverse vibes with some dubcon scenes, but that it’s not as dark as some of her other stuff (Andorra Sector) and the H’s are very dedicated to the h. And she’s right, the H’s are almost sweet, and she’s pretty besotted herself (I can’t even remember any dubcon scenes unless you call her being out of it in heat), so if you're looking for a gritty omegaverse read… this isn’t it.

Bottom Line- I liked it and will round up, but I wish it would’ve had a smidge more emotion. Without be spoilery, I’ll just say there was a situation that was similar (in a way) to what the h in Andorra Sector experienced, but where she was miserable/heartsick/insecure and churned angst as she was miserable requiring Ander to grovel… Clove faces a similar situation and gets a teeny bit bummed by the circumstance but basically brushes it off and chooses to live for the moment… where I wanted her be mopey and make the guys feel bad. The situation wasn’t the same in that I didn’t feel they needed to grovel… but feeling some guilt would’ve spiced it up. 🤷‍♀️I did like that they were so protective from the start, and that they had very different personalities/roles ...so many times in these reads the men blur together, but that wasn’t the case here. Short epilogue one year later.

Not only does this book have hot knotting scenes but also alphas who are fighting and protecting women from other misogynistic packs. Our FMC, Clove, is raised in a pack that views female wolves as subservient to their male counterparts. Upon her mating ceremony to the son of the alpha, she is discovered to be a Carnage wolf, which means she is a half-breed and therefore tainted and is banished to reject island. She meets our MCs and what follows is a lot of unpacking and unlearning of her ingrained beliefs towards the roles that female wolves should have in a pack. We have action, we have intrigue, we have alpha males fighting over our FMC, and we have lots of spice. No MM/sword crossing other than DP. At one point Clove says that her alpha clan has more of a brotherly love than romantic. Great read!

This is a tough one because for the most part, I really liked it. It was so long and had so many characters it made my head explode. Plus this Omegaverse world is sooooo confusing to me. I’ll try to explain this the best I can.

Clove (19, virgin, girl Alpha wolf) is betrothed to a douche wolf in order to combine their tribes? The females in this tribe are either wives or whores, they’re also not allowed to shift until they’re 19, or something like that. So when she starts going through her wedding ceremony, her intended forces her to shift into her wolf form except gasp her fur is white. The only way she can be white is if she’s part of this other wolf clan, which means her mom had sex with someone else. The tribe rapes and kills Clove’s mother, blames it on her, then dumps her on this “reject” island where they hope she’ll be killed.

Tieran (#1 Alpha) and his crew Volt (naughty Alpha), and Caius (lovey Alpha) are all on reject island for a reason I can’t remember. Tieran needs an heir, but the only wolves that can make babies (I think) are Omegas? We discover that gasp Clove is actually an Omega, but since she’s a half-breed, they don’t know if she can actually reproduce. Anyway – a lot of stuff goes on from there.

SEX The sex was hot for the most part, but I thought it was really tame. Volt is supposed to be this sadistic wolf and it’s implied he’s into pain, yet he only really acts semi violent one time. He holds a knife to Clove while having sex. Meh. Then, even though it’s supposed to be her having sex with all three guys, there’s only one time we get to hear about Volt taking her butt and Tieran taking her coochie. I was SUPER disappointed in that. If you’re going to give this girl three men to fock, GIVE HER THREE MEN! Caius doesn’t even have sex with her until over half way through the book! They also never have sex in their wolf forms. I thought that was a rip off. Side note, the guys also have the penis knots, which I don’t fully understand.

Even though there are all these shifter wolves, there’s also a human world out there that they interact with, but that only happens in the first chapter. It seemed really weird to mention it. There’s also a lot of other things that didn’t make sense. The reject islands are close enough together that they can be reached by boat from the mainland. Yet they need a jet to go attack?? The entire fight scene was confusing and felt at times there was a character that was two places at one time. Clove also sees pups on reject island, but if there aren’t any Omegas on reject island, then how does that happen. If Alpha wolves can have pups, then what keeps Kieran from really claiming Clove? His whole issue was he was worried she couldn’t have pups. 🤷

I really did laugh at the part when Clove has just changed into her wolf and is trapped.
My wolf has a death wish. She’s a fucking psycho. And she’s going to get us killed. Because she decided to take a nap in the Carnage Island Alpha’s bed.

I don’t know if I want to continue this type of book or not. I def need to take a break from it.

Reread 9/3/24 - still love it!

4.75 stars!

Lexi Foss does wolf shifters and omegaverse like no other. Carnage Island is a reverse harem omegaverse-light story that is action packed, steamy and one of my favorite books of hers now. Clove is a wolf shifter and is about to take a mate but when she shifts for the first time, things do not go as planned. On an occasion that was supposed to be joyous, Clove is left motherless, rejected and exiled to Carnage Island.

But Carnage Island is not what it seems and when Clove is rescued by Tieran, Volt and Caius things change forever. Clove is much more than she believes and Tieran, Volt and Caius believe they have just discovered the female to complete them and allow for their pack to rise. Betrayal and obstacles are on the horizon and Clove and her mates will have to come together to win the brewing war. Will Clove, Tieran, Volt and Caius claim each other and stand together? Or will they fall?

I loved this hot and suspenseful story. It wasn't quite as dark as her Andorra Sector series in terms of the omegaverse dynamic but it still packed some delicious heat. I loved all the men. Tieran was the leader and strategist. Volt was the enforcer and dirty one. And Caius was the romantic and brains. Each played a unique role in their group and I adored their possessive and devoted nature to Clove. Clove was a breath of fresh air character because she lived in the moment and never whined about the situation she was in no matter how bad. I really loved her ferocity and strength but that she also let her men shoulder burdens too. This had a great story to go with their romance. I wish I had gotten a bigger taste of Volt and his knife play. Foss teased it a lot but she never truly went there. Overall, if you like PNR reverse harem with a light omegaverse theme then I definitely suggest this one!

Yeah, books like this remind me that I love shifter romances and it is an actual crime that I don't read them more frequently.

This was so freaking enjoyable for me! While I did find the world building to be muddled and not as clear and robust as I would've liked, the smut, the primal instincts, the OV dynamics and characteristics? I loved those bits.

Was I disappointed that the big bad savage Carnage alphas we were warned about actually turned out to be big burly gentlemen? Honestly...no. I felt like they really emulated considerate yet firm alphas and I reveled in their personalities and what they did for each other/FMC.

There was even pack dynamics and action and it was great.

I think what would've made this five stars for me was if the FMC had more of a presence (or personality). She was just ~there~. Her wolf had more personality than her for goodness sakes haha. (And, of course, more and clearer world buiilding)

Overall, I felt like this was a solid shifter romance and I'm eager to read more from this author!

Finally starting to make sense of this whole Omegaverse concept particularly in RH. This one was rather enjoyable for me and the characters actually shift into their animal rather than living human with animal instincts. There was quite a bit of pack politics here that went over my head. I found there to just be an overwhelming amount of name drops that I was easily lost but managed to hang on to the main plot of the story. The book opens rather brutally so heed any trigger warnings. There is copious amounts of knotting, nesting (which I’m loving especially here as the heroine needed everything just so and super comfy 😝) and alpha dominance. The book has multiple POVs which helped the story piece together better. With the heroine not having shifted for 20 years in many ways she’s an adolescent and needs strong alpha support. The best thing that could have happened to her was getting sent to Carnage Island where the feral and rejects go. Luckily for her there are 3 alphas in need of an Omega if only they can get her alpha side to submit!!!

Audio: 4.5 stars, it was a duet narration which I loved! Everyone did a great job!

Book: 3-3.5 stars

This was my first Lexi C Foss book, I don’t think it’ll be my last. It was a good read, but I felt like something was missing. I think the connection between the guys and Clove was rushed.. which makes sense since they are werewolves haha

Also the ending was anticlimactic especially with how Clove came to the island, you’d think that the retaliation that she/the guys would want to do would be more brutal… haha oh well!

Overall a good read, but not the best I’ve read

DNF @ 42%

I was literally devouring this story… until one little sentence instantly ruined it for me:

Would it cause a whole lot of problems if she couldn’t? Yes. However, I’m here for romance, not “stone-cold logic” and the message that a woman/female may be good enough to fuck, but is not worthy of an everlasting mate-bond if she can’t .

At this point, I really don’t hold out much hope anymore that I’ll find a hetero omegaverse story that really works for me. I love the concept of omegaverse, but there always seems to be something in these stories that’s a major turn-off.

I’m (usually) fine with dub-con/non-con/forced-seduction, but I absolutely hate it when the male MC(s) are cold and cruel towards the female MC, or she’s portrayed as a spineless, brainless meat-sack that exists only for fucking and breeding.

I really thought this book was going to be the one, and I was so excited. I really liked the writing style and dialogue, the male MCs were intriguing; dominant yet also sweet, and had distinct personalities. And I really liked Clove. She had a great personality and I loved the chapters from her PoV. Everything was shaping up to be a fantastic read (for me) until that happened. *sigh* Oh, well… :(

I've seen so many people mention Carnage Island recently and then a friend read it and thought I'd enjoy, which I definitely did! The book is told in first person, multi-POV. Possible trigger warnings for violence and off-page rape of a side character.

Clove is a sweet and strong wolf shifter whose planned mating ends in violence and trauma. She's transported to Carnage Island and there she meets the Carnage wolves, who have a terrible reputation, one not rooted in truth as she learns. Clove's alphas are protective of her from the first moment and I loved that. From the first introductions of each alpha, their personalities are clear and it's easy to see why they're a clan since they make a strong group. There are some cute and funny scenes when she first arrives at the island with her in wolf form and the guys' reactions to her. Clove's eyes are also opened to what she is and how wrongly her old pack operated.

Pack politics, betrayal, vengeance, and relationship dynamics all come into play throughout this story, which was very well-paced so it never dragged. Plenty of action and steam with all the knotting, nesting, and purring (no mm). This is a standalone and there's a sweet epilogue with a peek into the future showing the characters secure in their HEA. I would be interested in more omegaverse stories from this world.

Cute Dark Sexy Read

The beginning of this book starts out Dark, but after that the FMC finds herself stuck in wolf form while her wolf has full control and she has to watch and cringe at all the animal-like behavior she's displaying. It's super cute when she meets the Alphas for the first time while still stuck wolfly. I loved the character play as the big bad Alphas take care of the cute little Omega wolf, super adorable!
After that we get a lot of very steamy chapters for most of the book before we finally reach the climax or as I like to call it... revenge and stabby time.
Then of course more steamy knotty fun.
Overall, it's a great somehow dark and fluffy omegaverse read.

🐺 Wish this wasn't a reverse harem since Tieran was the main focus and the other two were just there. I don't like how he was made to be superior.

🐺 The heroine has 0 personality. Her wolf was cute though, I always love the inner wolves cause they dgaf, they just wonna mate.

🐺 Volt and his fucking knives needed to shut the fuck up oml🤣🤣🤣 how many times you gon talk about your knife kink, I DON'T CARE.

🐺 Too long

Welcome to Carnage Island.

Where the Alpha's roam and new members play. In this, you will meet Clove. Now she was about to mate with an Alpha's son until she shifted into her wolf. For the first time that is. This whole mating thing was to help bring to shifter packs together. Until it didn't. Mostly because they found she was mutt and then things went downhill fast.

Honestly, I didn't like how easy it was for them to treat her like a normal person to something lower than dirt. Heck, even how they treated her mother was heartbreaking for me. These guys deserve to rot in hell. Forever.

Unfortunately, Hades doesn't make my day better and she gets sent to Carnage Island after being rejected by the douche canoe. The last thing they expected was her to find three extra delicious alpha males who would do anything for her. She was the omega glue that made their little clan finally complete. The chemistry and sexual tension between them were on fire. The nesting and bantering were adorable and made me so happy.

Long story short, I really did enjoy the heck out of this. The good, the bad, and the ugly were all there and so hard to put down. Each page, and chapter, just flew by because I needed all the revenge Lexi could give me. And then some. I don't think my revenge-o-meter will ever be satisfied when it comes to douche canoes in these shifter books. But I will admit that this did a very good job delivering karma to certain people.

In the end, I need more omegaverse books now.

Did not finish - did not even get 35% in.

I know this book was meant to be smut and basically, that's it. But oh gods was this absolutely horrible.

Starting the book off with a warning was nice. Not everyone can read certain things, and having a trigger warning is there - even if it was a bit fluffy and like the author was making fun of you if you couldn't handle it. But that warning means nothing when you start the story itself off with abuse, physical assault, and death by r*pe, followed by literally an entire island of "rejected" wolves getting ready to have an orgy with a single female wolf.

Second - If a drinking game was made of how many times the words "Alpha", "knot", "heat", or the phrase "built on trust" came into play - you'd be dead of alcohol poisoning.

Third - I get it, they're not supposed to be human, they're living through their animal instincts but uh - consent? Or how about getting to know someone before placing bets on who fucks her first? For something that was supposed to be a reversed harem, it was very misgnostic and emotionally (not to mention sexually) abusive.

To top it off - the writing style. Please, PLEASE learn how to write in a format that is able to be followed and doesn't remind me of reading fanfiction back in high school.

I would give negative stars if I could.

I really enjoyed this book.
It was brutal and vicious at times, but I liked that added bit of savagery since they were wolves.
There was an overtone of worship and caring that balanced it out and made it fun for me.

The sex reflected all of that. It was rough and involved lots of clawing and an edge of pain, but it was sweet and sensual at the same time.
One of the reasons this wasn’t a 5 star read for me was that there were a lot of hints at an even darker side to their love that we never got to see on page. I was looking forward to Volt’s knives being involved. Unfortunately, we only got teased with a tiny threat of them and some vagueness alluding to them, though.

I did still enjoy all of the steam though.
I also enjoyed their first meeting and the cuteness with Clove’s wolf. It was adorable and I loved that the guys thought so too. It added an extra flare of sweetness that I appreciated.

I’m glad I picked this up. Thanks to my TikTok algorithm for making fantastic choices once again.😂

I’ll definitely be checking out more from this author.
I’m excited to see what else she has to offer to feed my smut obsession.

3.75⭐️ .

Unfortunately I couldn’t connect with the book properly. I was even disinterested in the love scenes which is aplenty in this book. But it’s well written with good characters. I loved the suspense and mystery though.
