The Comeback

Rate this book
I won’t let the quarterback break my heart a second time.

I gave Callum my heart, thinking we were college sweethearts meant for each other.
But once he got on the football team, he dumped me.

Callum is a cruel heartbreaker.
A bad boy who only cares about himself.

When I come across this jerk again, he flirts with me shamelessly.
Wrongfully believing that being the quarterback makes him irresistible.
But I won’t make the same mistake.

He’s not getting a second chance from me.
No matter how hot he looks in his football jersey.
He can flex his muscles and flash his winning smile, all he wants.
I’m not letting him anywhere near me.

But Callum won’t stop pursuing me.
And when I receive terrible news, he’s right by my side.

Is it possible that Callum has changed?
Or is he playing the same old game with me?

I found this book entertaining. To be honest, I wasn’t too sure about Callum as he just seemed so immature and indecisive. I really liked Elsie as I thought she was a sweetheart. These two just had so many ghosts to deal with in order to reach their HEA, but thanks to a great bestie and a lot of growing up, these two managed to overcome everything.

Being a star football player is what Callum thought he always wanted; for that reason he decided relationships would hold him back. Elsie is devastated when she sees him again. She has never got over him. What surprises her, is Callum hasn't forgotten her either.
This is a lovely romance about two young people who risk their hearts to find love. Erica Frost creates two characters who are immediately endearing, and the reader roots for them throughout. Wonderful!

This was an entertaining read, first, we have heartbreak, then the mending of the relationship might be harder than he thought, then the working of the relationship! He walked away from her, thinking she would hold him back, but after 3 years he knows that he made a mistake, and seeing her at a party made him realize how much he wants her back!

I enjoyed this book a lot! This book has dual POV, "enemies" to lovers, second chance romance, and growth. I liked the characters, I liked the story, and I liked the way it was written. Elsie and Callum were an item until Callum decided to focus solely on football and that he couldn't have any distractions. Distractions meaning Elsie. In the three years since he broke it off, he has become the star quarterback and partied hard while trying to keep girls to one night only events. When Elsie runs into Cal at a party, she was surprised it had taken so long and realized how different he was to the boy she had loved. Cal realized how much he sacrificed when choosing football. When Elsie goes over to his place to work him out of her system, he pushes for more. There will be heartbreak, third parties trying to come between them, and a discovery that could change Elsie's outlook on everything. Will that tear them apart before they have a chance to be more?.

Elsie dated Callum her first year of college, but then he became the star quarterback for the football team and dumped her so she wouldn't be a distraction for him achieving his goals. But what Callum didn't realise at the time was that he still had distractions, and maybe staying with Elsie would have been better for him.
Elsie never got over Callum, even though she tried to convince herself she had, so when they meet up again at a party and Callum realises that he still misses her, they end up sleeping together again. Elsie states that it is just a one time thing, but what if Callum doesn't want that. But Elsie doesn't think she can trust Callum not to break her heart again, especially when she sees him kissing another girl, even though it may not be as it seems. Can Callum convince her to give him a second chance.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

Making The Right Choice -
When Callum broke up with Elsie, she swore she wouldn’t give him that time of day in the future. However, something kept drawing them back back towards each other. Unfortunately, before they finally get their happily ever after, they would have to overcome a few obstacles. I suggest you read this book on Sunday when you can make time to relax and truly enjoy the story, as you won’t be able to stop reading once you start.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was great to see that the storyline wasn’t just about the two main character, but the supporting characters also had their own stories woven in with the main characters. It shows an author’s talent, when the suffering stories can flow beautifully and efficiently. Erica Frost continues to shine with every story she publishes.

Callum and Elsie were college sweethearts, until he dumps her when he becomes the star quarterback on the football team. Callum regrets his actions, and is pursuing Elsie relentlessly, but she is not giving in easily. The chemistry between these two is combustible and undeniable. This is a well written story which has emotions, heartbreak, regrets, compassion, 2nd chances, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

An okay read.

I didn’t enjoy this as much as other books I’ve read by this author. I liked Elsie and her family and best friend, but Owen’s inner dialogue about his life became irritating, and the decisions and mistakes he made were frustrating and made it hard to empathise with his character. The steam was great, and it was nice to end with an HEA, but I felt the ending also left a number of questions unanswered.

Good read

I really liked this book but I wish it had a different ending. There was alot that should ha e been explained before they had that happily ever after. What happened with his football? He missed the game? Did he make it to the pros? A big part of this book was about his friends giving him bad advice, but there was no ending to it. Another issue was you made several comments about her degree but there was nothing.

If it had some of this, it would have been great. It just felt rushed and unfinished in my opinion.

This is a heartfelt, second chance romance between former college sweethearts, Callum and Elsie. These likeable characters, the strong connection, the combustible chemistry, and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. Once they reconnect, it is a bumpy ride with some steam, drama, humor, twists and turns, and engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An emotional read.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Callum and Elsie. They are both college students, they dated their first year, but college football got in the way. Now the run into each other and it charges everything. Great push and pull as they find their footing together again.

Second Chance

Callum left Elsie when he left for college thinking all he wanted was to focus on football and his studies. He thought she would be a distraction. He runs into her on campus and realizes how wrong he was. He was distracted by the parties and other things, and it finally hit him that she was what he needed to focus on what was real.
After a lot of ups and downs they are able to find the HEA they were looking for.

Callum and Elsie dated in 1st year college but he broke up with her when he became the star quarterback. He now regrets it when they meet again but will have to work hard to make her believe this. Good college romance and author.

The novel was cute and steamy and has a good story line. Callum is the typical college jock but becomes introspective of his past actions. Elise faces tough decisions about her future and the expectations she has placed on herself. The feelings between them are heartfelt and created an enjoyable book.

A nice written college-story, easy to read.
I like Erica's writing style and enjoy reading her books.

Elsie and Callum were already in a relationship in the past, didn't have contact til they meet again at a college party.
Callum the popular football player, Elsie the nondescript book-lover.

They don't find der HEA easily, so the story kept me occupied til the end.

This is a very good second-chance romance. The main characters had history and a break-up for the wrong reason, especially when the Hero realized he wasn't living his own life. With the help of a friend, some personal growth, and some healing, this couple has a chance at a HEA. I liked this book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

I absolutely loved Eloise and Callum's story of second chance at love.

Callum walked away from Eloise and their relationship to focus on football but realizes a few years later how big a mistake that was.

He comes back into Eloises life as she is going through a tough family situation and proves that he is all in this time.

Erica Frost is one of my favorite authors. She knows how to pull you in and keep you wanting more. This story is about second chances. It reminds me of that saying.... " If you love someone let them go, If they come back it's meant to be" that's exactly what this story is. If you love second chances with a HEA then this book is definitely for you.

A great second chance romance story about Callum and Elsie. He’s the star quarterback who dumped her in their first year so he wouldn’t have any distractions. After running into each other again he realizes what he’s done and what he’s given up. A real page turner and a definite must read.

This was a book that was full of so many emotions. There was love, fear, sadness, heartbreak, and compassion. Callum and Elsie reconnected at a college party and it went from there. Their chemistry was still there and still hot and heavy. This was a very good book and a definite must read.
