Love at Sea #6

Abandon Ship

Rate this book
A jilted bride with trust issues. A disgraced photographer with something to prove. A Love at Sea cruise determined to distract them both.

Abby:
Instead of walking down the aisle, my fiancé walked out the door. So I’m taking our honeymoon cruise without him. I’ll enjoy seven perfect days of endless margaritas, pristine beaches, and island excursions even more with my best friend instead. What I need is a complete break from ANYTHING akin to romance. Complete break. That includes the tempting Grayson Hamilton, I remind myself. No matter how much of a crush I had on him back in high school. No matter how lickable his abs turned out to be. I AM ON A BREAK!

Grayson:
Scoring my dream job with the industry’s leading travel magazine was a lucky break. Unfortunately, I’m just about out of luck. This all-expenses-paid cruise my employer sent me on is my last chance to save my reputation. I have to stay focused despite all the beautiful, single women on this Love at Sea cruise. Yep. Focused. Focused on my job. NOT on my best friend’s little sister, all grown up and smoking hot, looking like she needs someone to help her get over her freshly broken heart. On second thought, maybe a little distraction couldn’t hurt. Maybe an offer of a no-strings-attached rebound will help get her out of my system. Then I can concentrate on saving my career before we both abandon ship.

Abandon Ship is a jilted bride romance, part of the Love at Sea multi-author series. Get ready to set sail through the Caribbean on Festival Cruises’ most alluring voyage with eight of your favorite authors - happily ever after guaranteed!

Experience everything the Love at Sea series has to offer. From speed dating to masquerades, guests are sure to enjoy the hot days and steamy nights. Explore hidden waterfalls, swim with dolphins, and watch as eight couples find their forever on the open ocean.

Hi Readers!
I am a writer, reader, wife, mother, teacher, and photographer. I married my high school sweetheart - a real-life second chance love story! - and have been a hopeful romantic ever since. When I'm not reading swoon-worthy romances or letting my characters take over my stories, you can find me sipping on a fountain soda with a true crime documentary on TV.

At least I wish that was all I had to do. Usually I'm chasing my two daughters around with my camera, grading papers, or cleaning up after the animals on our mini-farm in rural Maryland (at least goats, chickens, dogs, and cats are cute, right?).

I have a BA in English-Secondary Education, a BA in Psychology, and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Arts where I focused on writing, photography, and juggling. Yes-juggling. I still practice in my kitchen much to the horror of my husband and delight of my kiddos.

I've enjoyed the Love at Sea collection a great deal, and I've met new authors throughout it (which is always a bonus with collections/anthologies) as the stories always leave me with a smile on my face. Abandon Ship is absolutely no exception, and leaving a smile on my face to cleanse the dark & twisty out once in a while is a great thing as I spend the majority of my time reading dark, and creepy reads because that's the type of girl that I am LOL! Anyway, I know I've veered off the beaten path there but I needed everyone to know what I'm thinking since I won't give a ton of detail away. Our heroine, Abby, is on her honeymoon cruise with her best friend since the man she was supposed to marry was a real douchebag. She didn't wallow in it, nope, she decided to live her life & I was highly entertained by her antics. Grayson is trying to fix his tarnished reputation which is why he's on the cruise as well, and lo & behold, there's Abby (his best friend's little sister) all grown up and the sparks are flying. And that's all I'll say about all that because experiencing the fun is so much better than reading my rambling thoughts so you know what to do! This story was fun, flirty, sexy, and funny with a slight kicker of drama so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

3,5*

I'm not sure what or how can I write down this review in order to explain what I liked and didn't like.

I was intrigued by Abby with her mention in the previous book in this series and so excited to see what made a bride to destroy her dress. And boy was she right to do it in such a manner. Her ex is an A-hole beyond measure. I loved the fact that she didn't wallow too much and decided to go with the plan she made in order to find closure. I loved Grayson. He was adorable, funny and thoughtful. The way he was honest about his want for her was refreshing. He knew what he wanted and went for it.

And now I need to see if I can express just what bothered me the most; the whole pro accident that is Abby was, at first, funny but then it just seems to happen waaay too often (for me). (Maybe) I'd like for them to happen less often and that time to be spent seeing how Grayson made his "mistake" with her right. I don't know but it kinda pains me to give this 3.5* rating but I can't find what else I liked for this to reach a 4* reading.

When Abby finds herself abandoned by her fiancé right before her wedding she decides to take the honeymoon cruise they had planned with her best friend. Some fun in the sun is exactly what she needs but she didn’t expect to see Gray, the man who is not only her brother’s fried but the star of her teenage dreams.

Gray is a photographer who has a great opportunity to reinvigorate his career while taking pictures on the boat. He needs to stay focused and not be distracted by Abby but that is becoming more difficult with each passing day. Will they realize that their holiday fling is meant to be forever?

Gray and Abby were so much fun together especially when you add in the cruise setting. There is a little drama and angst they need to overcome but there is no denying they belong together.

Abandon Ship by Karigan Hale
Love at Sea #

Love Boat used to be one of my favorite programs when growing up…the idea of a shipboard romance, maybe working on a cruise ship, and all that could happen was rather dreamy. That said, a cruise is still something I would like to go on but by the time I do, I might be playing octogenarian Trudy rather than the younger passengers on the ship!

The story starts with Abby having a bad feeling the night before her wedding is to take place and that feeling becomes a jilting with her fiancé leaving her with bills to pay and a lot to deal with. A few months later she and her best friend are heading out on a Caribbean cruise…the cruise Abby and her fiancé were supposed to go on for their honeymoon. The plan is to have fun, meet men, eat, drink, and be merry. Little did Abby know that she would run into her bother’s friend, someone she had a crush on in high school.

Gray’s job is on the line, and he has to come up with a great story and photos to clinch his job and secure his future. Little does he know how important running into Abby will be to his future. He will have some big decisions to make as he weighs just what is of true importance to his future.

Abby and Gray seem to be perfect for one another, but will the cruise provide enough time for them to fall in love and commit to one another?

This story provides potential romance for Abby and her friend, deals with trust and how easily it can be broken, and also has Gray grappling with professional ethics and what he feels is okay as he considers his future.

This was a nice escape and fun way to spend the day.

Thank you to the author and IndiePenPR for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This ship shouldn't be abandoned

ABANDON SHIP
is another enjoyable, amusing, and entertaining read in the Love At Sea series. Abby Winters is a jilted bride wanting to have some fun on her "honeymoon" cruise with her bestie, Jazz. Grayson Hamilton is a travel photographer who has grabbed the chance of a lifetime in pursuit of repairing his self-ruined reputation. He's also Abby's brother's best friend.

On boarding the ship, Abby falls into Grayson (in a very humiliating way), and she realizes he the boy, now man, she crushed on during her teen years. Grayson had a crush on Abby too but being his best friend's little sister she was off limits. A decade has gone by since they last saw each other, and the attraction and chemistry are still there. The sexual tension between them is volcanic, and when they finally get together, they waste no time in making up for lost time. Is everything just too good to be true?

While ABANDON SHIP is a romance story, there are plenty of moments that had me laughing out loud. Abby and Jazz are like two girls on Spring Break, nothing is off limits: river tubing, swimming with the dolphins, speed dating, and of course clubbing and plenty of alcohol ... I wanna party with these women. I can't forget to mention the trashing of a certain dress, OMG that was hilarious. Once again Gertrude, our intrepid cruiser, is aboard, along with her awesome humour and sarcasm.

This book was a fun read, sweet and spicy, a touch of drama, but definitely great for a laugh. I can't wait to see what happens on the next cruise.

Abby knew something was wrong. The rehearsal dinner was perfect. The groomsmen were all present despite having major hangovers. The bridesmaids were attentive and everything was just gorgeous. But something just didn't feel right. Her fiance Trey was just off...something was definitely wrong.

When they get home she confronts him and he tells her he can't marry her the next day. They need a break to figure things out...oh, and he cheated on her, but isn't she glad he didn't wait until the next day at their wedding when it was too late.

She looks at him in amazement...too late? Flowers, wedding cake, wedding reception, over 200 guests....her wedding dress! Oh no, her gorgeous wedding dress that she'll never be able to wear because of the bad juju he just put on it.

Six months later she's boarding a cruise ship with her best friend Jazz. And the first thing she does is trip going up the gangway and face plants in a man's backside. And to make it even more embarrassing is the fact that she knows this man...he was one of her brother's best friends who she had a crush on since middle school.

This book is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. I so loved this book and if you have read the previous books in this series you know Gertrude and she plays a more active role in Abby & Grayson's story. This woman just keeps getting more hilarious as each author adds to her character.

If you want a laugh out loud smoking hot romance you will definitely find that with Abandon Ship. This is the first time that I have read anything by Karigan Hale, but I definitely plan on reading more in the future! Highly recommend!

AND...Here goes another winner for Author Karigan Hale!! I mean how can you go wrong? We have Abby, poor Abby who is totally ghosted by her fiancé right on the night before her wedding. Then we have Grayson, a photographer who is fighting for his career, so he takes an assignment on a cruise. Little do they know that their paths will cross on the sea.
Abby ends up on the same ship as Grayson. It was not planned, they have a past, he is best friends with Abby's brother which made the feelings that they had for each other something that they knew they should not act on.
However, being together in such close quarters has that spark flaring between them so they decide "what the heck", let's have a little bit of fun!
They made an agreement that once off the cruise and home they would walk away resuming the way they were so no one would know.
HAHA, LOL, that's all I am giving you!! You NEED this book; it is one of the most fun that I have read in a book in a while. I totally recommend this, as well as all of the rest in the group. Everyone that I have read has me feeling so happy throughout the book, and I cannot say enough about Karigan Hale!
Brilliant Job!

This is installment six of the charming Love at Sea series. Abby was jilted at the altar and she decides the best revenge would be to take their planned honeymoon cruise without her ex and go with her best friend instead. Grayson is a photographer with a tarnished reputation and the assignment he has aboard the Love at Sea cruise is his chance to salvage his career. He didn't expect to be distracted by his best friend's little sister, Abby. With her freshly broken heart, he wants nothing more than to help her pick up the pieces. The sparks definitely do fly between these two and they enjoy each other's company for the duration of the trip. But once the cruise ends, does it also mean the end of their fling or could this turn into something more?
I've enjoyed each book in this series and this one also did not disappoint. I really like the fact that each book is written by a different author. Each one has their own writing style, but they all do a great job of keeping the general intent and theme of the series going. Another wonderful addition to the series!

One jilted bride, one best friend, one cruise, and one guy who’s a blast from the past bring everything to this story! Abby’s been cheated on, lied to, and is taking back her pride during what was to be her honeymoon cruise. She brings along her best friend, Jazz, and falls face first into a guy from her past…literally. While she and Grayson try to figure out where to go with their still-present attraction, the heat and humor both build. Between misguided photo shoots among plants that shouldn’t be touched and alcohol and old ladies and one stupid ex reappearing to prove how clueless he is, this cruise is proving to be even more entertaining than first thought. But can it last? Especially when it appears that confidences are brutally betrayed and lies beat all?

Not only did I find the fun and emotion in Abby’s and Gray’s story, but the grovel, the proof of how well Abby is seen by Grey, and the new moves in life make for a guy that can’t be thrown away and a woman who knows a good thing when she sees it. Enjoy getting to know the woman in the dress on the beach this time around!

So I am not someone why typically reads many contemporary romances at all. In fact 98% percent of the time you will catch me reading some sort of Dark romance weather it be bully , mafia , reverse harem etc !! But the moment I came across the sign up for multi author The Love at Sea series, I really was completely intrigued . Everyone needs a change right ? So I decided to give it a shot and. Am so so happy I did . Each book has been absolutely amazing, and I’ve found many new favorite authors . Abandon Ship is Karigan Hales wonderful contribution , it’s filled with intrigue, angst , off the charts chemistry, witty banter , humor , second chances , family , friendships, romance , unexpected surprises, it’s fun and sexy and heartwarming and heartbreaking . It will grab onto all your emotions so fast and pull at your heartstrings in ways you will not expect . A emotional rollercoaster that is unforgettable and unputdownable. There were tines I was literally on the edge of my seat with my heart beating a mile a minute . I cannot recommend this whole series highly enough

Love at Sea #6

Abby Winters had her wedding planned and after the rehearsal dinner she knows something isn't right and her fiance tells her he just isn't ready yet and the wedding is off. So she decides to go on the honeymoon cruise they had planned with her best friend Jazz. What's better than 7 days of beaches, drinking and excursions she picked out and having her bestie with her.
Grayson Hamilton is a travel photographer and has scored his dream job with a travel magazine to do an article on the cruise. After an issue with his last job his reputation is on the line.
Grayson and Abby's brother played soccer together and she has had a crush on him since and is surprised when she runs into him getting on the ship. Gray needs to stay focused on his job but he ends up spending a lot of time with her.
They are enjoying spending time together and are getting close but what happens when her ex shows up on the ship wanting to get back together?

This book was everything that it was building up to be from the first mention of the jilted bride!! I have never read this author but I’m already hooked!!

Abby (Breezy) has such a crazy start of this book and oh my goodness did I hurt for her!! I also got very angry, excited, itchy and emotional at times for her too!! I started to quickly fall for Breezy and even though things with her seemed different than the other women I’ve read, I wanted more!!

Grayson… goodness gracious!! I was all excited for this story because I honestly had no idea of a man being apart of the equation because everyone seemed so tight lipped! Oh my word at the meet of the characters!!!!!! I LOVED THIS MAN!!

Talk about being giddy through the whole book, I couldn’t stop!! I had to know more about their pasts and find out even what the best friend was doing!! Expectations of this book met ten times over!! Wow, what a way to build us up and DELIVER!! Congrats!

Abandon Ship by Karigan Hale

Another great amazing addition to the Love at Sea series and I found another great author to add to the list of authors I enjoy. This book was hilarious I mean come on let’s begin with how Abby fell onto Grayson ok the ship I could not stop laughing. I loved that Grayson and Abby have history to me these are the best type of romance books. I won’t give you much more than saying that you need to grab this book. It will have you laughing so much make sure you read at home because people will look at you crazy when you unavoidably laugh super hard and loud. This book gives you everything you can possibly need in a romance book. It had so many hilarious moments with Abby and Jazz as well as Abby and Grayson. We get some very sweet romantic moments and a bit of drama. Don’t miss out on this book i highly recommend it and look forward to reading more from this author and what comes next in the series.

There's nothing worse than being jilted a day before your wedding, it's been months and now Abby is going on the cruise that was to be her honeymoon with her best friend Jazz.

It's an unexpected surprise when she literally runs into Greyson. He was one of her brother's best friends and soccer teammate back in high school. He's a travel photographer doing an article on the cruise.

Unbeknownst to either of them, there was a mutual crush back then. This cruise just may be the way to see if that can grow into something more.

With the help of Jazz, Abby proceeds with her plans to put everything regarding the wedding and whole jilted bride thing behind her. Including wreaking the dress with Greyson photographing the whole thing.

Lots of fun and laughter as well as a touch of drama as this delightful tale unfolds. A bit of presumed betrayal, some tears but plenty of romance and a touch of sizzle too.

Abandon Ship by Karigan Hale is a great addition to the Love At Sea series. It is such a fun and breezy read to help keep you toasty on these cold winter nights.
Abby, aka Breezy, is a bride abandoned the night before her wedding. Jazz is the best friend who is her ride or die. On the Love at Sea cruise that was supposed to be Abby's honeymoon the girls are determined to throw caution to the wind and have a bff cruise instead. A slip up while boarding has Abby literally running into her high school crush, Grayson Hamilton, who is also one of her brother's best friends and the one who has been secretly lusted after Abby for just as long.
We get to see if this cruise will be a rebound connection or a forever love.
I highly recommend Abandon Ship to help keep you warm.

Abandon Ship by Karigan Hale is a book in the multi-author series, Love at Sea. Abby is on her honeymoon, well - would be anyway except she brought her best friend instead because screw that guy. Grayson is here on business, to take awesome pictures and get a great story. They didn’t realize they’d be running into their lifelong crushes, each other. Boy that beginning was something else. I could feel the rage coming from Abby. The author really makes you feel things with this book. The story totally drew me in from the very beginning. And I loved the brothers old best friend angle. Gray is the sweetest and tries so hard to be respectful even if he wants to just rip her clothes off. I felt like I blew through this story so quickly because I was loving it so much. A perfect fit into this series. Oh and my main girl Trudy made her lovely appearance. That woman needs her own book!

Abby is doing a love themed cruise with her friend Jazz. It was supposed to be her honeymoon but her ex turned out to be a cheater, so now it's a girls thing. Abby's old crush Gray happens to be there too. He is a travel photographer who is trying to rehabilitate his career. Jazz wants her to use Gray as a rebound sex object but it's problematic to assume the feelings would just stop after the ship comes to the port. He takes photos of Abby trashing her wedding dress and his editor thinks it's a great angle for a story, only Abby doesn't want any publicity as the jilted bride. This was a fun fluff sort of story that entertained me with snappy dialogue. I liked Jazz and the dirty talking old lady character.

This story is not only about a jilted bride but also about destiny. Sometimes the person who you think is the one or your happily ever after isn't really who you're meant to be with. The romance between Abby and Greyson is sweet, and for Greyson it picks up right where it left off when they were in high school. I like the way he defends her when the ex comes back asking for forgiveness and how he takes care of her while she's heartbroken & vulnerable. The ending was my most favorite part, yes he made a mistake but that grand gesture Grayson makes when he asks Abby for a second chance was dripping with romance. Turns out maybe they were always destined for each other. It's a lovely story, I recommend this to all romance lovers. It contains some spice, I'm sure many of my fellow bookworms would love.

The latest in the Love at Sea series, this story stars a jilted bride, Abby, who goes on her honeymoon cruise with her best friend. She meets Grayson, her brother's best friend and her high school crush, who is there on assignment for a magazine. Their meet-cute is very funny. We know right away that this is a great thing. But drunkenness (a frequent theme in this series) and poison ivy intervene! They do get together but go their own ways at the end of the cruise. Another theme we have seen before is mourning lovers in separate places, which is resolved in a sweet and romantic way. This story is sweet and funny and shows the previous books' characters on the side, which is interesting.

This was my first book by the author and my first book in the Love at Sea series and I think I'd like to read more in the series as I definitely enjoyed this. I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into at the start on the eve of Abby's wedding when things go so very wrong for her but the remaining focus on the cruise portion was great fun. I really liked Grayson as a character, including their shared history, and Jazz was a hoot but pretty OTT.
The only reason I've taken off a star is because I felt that Grayson's mess up was just so obviously telegraphed it kind of spoilt it a little for me. I might just be being harsh so don't let that put you off. It's definitely an entertaining read and a good way to pass a wet afternoon, reading about a lovely tropical cruise.

Reading this as a bride walking down the aisle, let me just tell you, I love my husband so much more! I have trust issues, so thank goodness he will be on my cruise in the summer. Aside from that, I had to really take myself out and connect with her desire to just relax.

I love when characters are introduced in other books, so this made me want to really explore what happened and the ins and outs of the story. The characters are very well developed. Like with most of the stories, I had to let go of my own trust issues and just enjoy the story. This is a great, quick steamy read, but warning to those about to walk down the aisle. My fiance at the time, now husband was gettting annoyed with me questioning him. :)

Abby is ready for marriage but her fiance is another story who waits for the rehearsal dinner to say there not ready for marriage. But that's okay Abby will go on her honeymoon and take her bestfriend with her. Then things get interesting and funny Grayson the guy she crushed on her brothers teammate and friend is on her cruise is she ready to move on from her Jerk ex with the one that never happened.

Grayson a photographer for a travel magazine is on assignment one he can't mess up so flirting and chatting up a girl he once thought about but didn't pursue mite be what tanks his career is Abby worth it and that ex-Fiance what will he say about everything and dose Abby really care is her new romance over before this ship leaves port.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Part of the Love At Sea series, Abandon Ship was just as fun and flirty as the other books in this series. When Abby is left at the alter by her ex fiance, she still has the cruise that was supposed to be their honeymoon to deal with. Should she go, or should she cancel? After deciding to go, she takes her best friend Jazz with her for some much needed R and R. Little does she know that she will end up meeting someone she already knows on the cruise. Grayson is a photographer for a travel magazine. He's also best friends with Abby's brother. After Abby quite literally falls into him, they speak and kinda leave it at that. But Grayson ends up being her weekly rebound for this trip. It's funny, it's sweet, and it's just a fun book and series. Don't miss out on the fun in the sun.

This was another solid addition to this series! Abby is left by her fiance on the night before the wedding. She decides to go on the honeymoon cruise with her best friend. Grayson is a photographer who is trying to rescue his career. His next assignment is on this cruise. Unbeknownst to the other, they had feelings for each other in the past but Grayson wouldn't act on them. He was best friends with Abby's brother. Looking for a little bit of fun they think that they will be able to walk away at the end of the cruise. I really enjoyed reading their journey to happiness!

Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done

I really liked this book. It would be difficult to not like Abby, Grayson, and Jazz. When Abby's fiancé breaks up with her on the eve of their wedding, she decides to go on her honeymoon cruise with her ride-or-die friend Jazz. Grayson Hamilton is covering the cruise for the leading travel magazine - his last chance to save his reputation after a mistake on a previous assignment. Abby and Gray have history. Will they pick up where they left off? The cast of characters, the tropical setting - this is the perfect beach read.

It looks like I might enjoy the rest of the books in this series.

Another great instalment in the Love at Sea Series!! Abby and Grayson have history, hidden teenage crushes (over-prfotective big brother). Can Grayson heal Abby's broken heart? After a week long cruise with ALL the shenanigans and the laughter he just might... But not without some angst first!! And what can I say about Trudy!!! LOL!! Loved these two even though Grayson gave me some anxiety. This is another new-to-me author and I'll be looking for other books by her. Can't wait to read the next one, don't want this series to end.

Abandon Ship ~Love at Sea # by Karigan Hale

Another fantastic book added to the series, that follows people on a cruise looking for love.
This is my favorite to date, I did enjoy the others but this one is the one that I enjoyed the most.
A jilted bride took her best friend on the Love at Sea cruise that was supposed to be her honeymoon.
A journalist trying to make up for an error in the past . It turns out he is her brother's best friend from high school.
No spoilers from me, as this book needs to be read purely for your enjoyment.
Highly recommend this book to all.

Wowsa this book was good story and will have you enthralled from the beginning until the end and the storyline flowed throughout the book and you will definitely fall in love with the characters. Abby finds out the night before her wedding that the groom was cheating on her but when she and her friend go on the honeymoon cruise and she runs into man she crushed on most of her life but will she give him a chance?.
