Annabelle Stuart made the mistake of falling in love with her brother’s best friend. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to notice her beyond being Austen’s little sis. Annabelle becomes a roller coaster of emotions as she attempts to be just friends with a guy she loves dearly. Can she put her ultimate hope in Christ even if her romantic dreams never turn out the way she hopes?
Cash Reagan may be muddling in self-pity a little too long when a broken engagement breaks his heart. When he is finally awakened to the condition of his wayward heart, Cash seeks to rebuild his walk with God. But as his relationship with God deepens, so does a relationship with a dear friend. Can he navigate a budding romance while putting God first?
Hannah Foster lives in Idaho with her husband. She writes Christian contemporary fiction, using her words and stories to point her readers to the foot of the cross, reminding them of the hope, joy, forgiveness, and grace they have in Jesus Christ. If she is not reading or writing, she may be found baking, working as a barista, watercolor painting, playing tennis with her husband, or thrifting.
Aw, what a sweet contemporary romance! I always appreciate Hannah Foster's gentle and clean romances, and this one isn't an exception!
Characters: I enjoyed Annabelle probably the best out of the two characters - she was pretty sassy and emotional and dramatic, but that made her character quite clear and understandable. She could sometimes come off as a little insulting at times, but it seemed as if her insults were mostly in good fun or her own way of hiding her feelings. But by the end of the book, she had mellowed out a little bit, all the while keeping her fun personality! Cash was a super nice guy - I loved how gentle and thoughtful he was with Annabelle. They definitely made a good couple.
Writing Style/Plot: The overall writing style was quite well-done. It wasn't overly poetic, and that worked really well here because it put the focus on the story. As for the plot, it wasn't the most exciting book I've ever read, but I needed a relaxing read today. It was very much real-life where dramatic things were not happening every other moment, and we simply got to follow along with the characters.
Moral/Theme: This might've been my favorite part of the book! Both Annabelle and Cash really wanted to get married and love someone, but they both came to the realization that they had to put the Lord ahead of any person or relationship. That was just so beautiful! I loved when Annabelle realized her hope was in Jesus, not in a guy, and Cash admitted to Annabelle that he was worried he would put her before the Lord. We need more of this in romance books! Romance is beautiful and wonderful, but no person should ever be put before the Lord. No person should be expected to fully satisfy another's desires - only the Lord can fully satisfy us! I absolutely loved this moral woven throughout this sweet story.
Overall, I enjoyed this clean, sweet romance story, and if you're looking for a relaxing, truth-filled read, look no further! You won't be disappointed. I'm looking forward to reading more by Hannah Foster!

Characters: Cash and Annabelle were both sympathetic, relatable characters. I especially enjoyed Annabelle's sense of humor and her relationship with her brother, Austen. I also liked Cash and Austen's friendship.
Language: Clean.
Moral/theme: The morals in this book were great ... learning how to put God first and being content in Christ.
Plot: The witty banter and the developing romance between Cash and Annabelle moved the plot right along.
Romance: Clean. I'm not a huge fan of romance in general, but I loved this romance. Cash and Annabelle were so sweet together in the purest of ways.
Writing: Hannah Foster's clear, fast-paced style worked great for this novella.
Overall: Falling for the Farmer was a great read, and I'd recommend it to those who enjoy Christian fiction, small town stories, and contemporary romance.
Update 8/6: You can now purchase a paperback copy of Falling for the Farmer on Amazon!
It's finally here! This is one of my favorite stories I've published so far. I hope that it blesses and encourages everyone who reads it while also bringing along a little laughter and cheer.
If you love small towns, gentle romance, faith and hope, coffee shops, farmers, siblings, friends to lovers, sassy females and strong gentlemen, then you don't want to miss this delightful story.
4 stars. I’m not sure what made me love this book so much. Perhaps just the wholesome, cheery, lifelike atmosphere… I love Hannah Foster’s small-town stories! And her writing style is fun, and the characters are very real. Cash was a great guy, and Annabelle was a nice girl, and I loved how they both had their well-done arcs. Austen is a sweetie and I really hope he’ll come back. ;)
The plot was cute and enjoyable, with plenty of humour and a sweet, clean romance. My favourite part was the deep message about romance—both parties finding worth in Jesus and keeping their eyes on Him instead of making each other the only thing in their life.
In short, this is another delightful little story by a great indie author, and I look forwards to reading more of her work.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.*
What a sweet story! Cash is such a swoony romantic, and Annabelle is a precious, relatable heroine. I loved how they strived to keep God at the center of their relationship. The pace of the story was so relaxing, and I liked how Cash was a modern day farmer, as I don't feel like that is something we see very often. I also enjoyed the sibling relationship between Annabelle and her brother Austen.
Falling For the Farmer was a delightfully clean and believable story that was refreshing and encouraging to a single young lady myself. A good reminder to wait on the Lord relating to dating and marriage.
I received an ARC copy of this book, and my opinions are my own.
2024 Reread I enjoyed rereading this shorter but lovely read. Great message of putting Christ first in your life and not finding your identity and worth in a person.
3.5 stars Such a lovely, wholesome romance story. I love the fact that Christianity wasn't just mentioned but was a real and vital part of the story. It was refreshing. Each character was so fun and delightful. I love the brother-sister relationship Austin and Annabelle have.
This was a cute novella with low drama, which I appreciate, and a clean, chaste romance. I liked that all of the characters had to work through keeping Christ at the center of their relationships, and I also liked that this wasn't your typical "brother's best friend" romance where the brother gets possessive and angry when his sister and friend express an interest in each other.
I did find the dialog a little unnatural at times with the men, but it wasn't such that it made me want to stop reading. It was just a little cutsie for young men...even sensitive ones.
Overall, it was an enjoyable, quick read. It gave me a couple of those "Oh, my heart," moments that I want in a romance. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet contemporary Christian romances with a small town setting.
This was such a sweet, light-hearted and clean romance! For such a short book, the characters were developed pretty well and had their own personalities. Now, I will say that the dialogue sometimes felt cliche or typical, however, I loved the banter between Annabelle and Cash. And Austen! Ah, he was such a protective brother, but had sweet and gentle side to him. The faith content was absolutely perfect, and I loved the emphasis on being satisfied with Christ where you are. Overall, this is an excellent read if you're looking for something short but desire a rich message!
*I received a free e-copy from the author in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own.*
Another sweet story by this author. I enjoyed this sweet story and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sweet, God-honoring romance that is also on the shorter side, but no less enjoyable. This would make for a delightful weekend read for anybody.
Cash and Annabelle's friendship-turned-romance was sweet and Annabelle's struggle with her desire for Cash to notice her seemed realistic, along with her coping mechanism of always teasing and insulting him--(the poor guy. LOL) Cash was also pretty realistic and I really loved some of the godly conversations that he especially brought out. Also, Annabelle's brother, Austen, was a lovely mix of protective older brother yet encouraging friend. I would honestly love another story set in Still Meadows featuring him. (Maybe the author will take the hint. :D)
Overall I really enjoyed this story and I am very glad for more clean romance! I will definitely be reading more by this author.
What a sweet story! Cash Reagan is swoon-worthy hero, and Annabelle Stuart is the perfect blend of sunshine, sass, and sarcasm.
As in Hannah’s other stories, there is a strong emphasis on the importance of keeping the Lord at the centre of romantic relationships, which I so appreciate. And while most “falling for my brother’s best friend” stories I’ve read have the older brother being overprotective and non-supportive in the beginning, I really loved how Austen was open, honest, and supportive Annabelle and Cash’s relationship.
Oh, and despite how much I loved Cash and Annabelle, Austen stole the show for me and completely melted my heart with his sweet, wise, sensible ways. 😍
If you love sweet sibling relationships, strong friendships, characters facing their mistakes, adorable banter, and a fun modern farmer twist, you’ll enjoy this heart-warming story!
“Falling for the Farmer” is such a sweet story that has just enough romance in it to make you smile, but not so much that it is the main emphasis of the story. I really appreciated that the characters kept pointing each other to Christ, making the growth in trusting God the main emphasis.
I love Hannah Foster’s writing style, since it really takes you in and makes it seem like you’re right there with the characters, living through it all with them.
I’m looking forward to more stories by this author!
FTC disclosure: I received a copy of the story in exchange for an honest review. A positive review was not required.
This was a sweet short story. The romance in one or two places was just a bit too much for me, but there wasn't anything to make me stop reading. Cash and Annabelle were such sweet characters, and I liked their story. It was quite funny in places, and I loved Austen. And each one's separate story was so good, as well as their personalities. A fairly quick but fun read.
Note: I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Aw, this was a sweet little romance that just made me happy! A nice feel-good read!
Characters: Annabelle was a sweetie, and her continual teasing of Cash was cute! Cash was a dear! It may have taken him a bit to come around to the idea, but he was so sweet! Austen was such a great brother! Reminded me of my own brothers!
Themes: Loving God first and keeping him center of any relationship. It was a very beautiful message!
Romance: A few kisses and hand holding nothing detailed. It was just a super sweet little romance!
Language: N/A
Overall: I enjoyed this read! It was short and sweet (I've said that a lot...lol...) and just a super easy and fun read!
Ya, know, at some point I think I should stop saying I like romance. Because that's not entirely true. Obviously, I dislike smut [obscene or lascivious talk, writing, or pictures]. And I'm quite picky about how far a couple can go to be comfortable. No descriptive kisses. More than a couple kisses is borderline for me.
But, clean, pure, godly romance is beautiful and I love it. My favorite "romance" books have romance as a side plot. The romance is not the focus, but it simply aids the characters along in their story. But occasionally I will read a "romance" book.
Any of Hannah Foster's book fall into the "I WILL READ!" category.
Falling for the Farmer did not disappoint! Cash and Annabelle were the cutest and so fun. I love the friends to lovers trope. It's so much better than love at first sight. 🙄
Cash is a masculine, strong, protective, leader and Annabelle is sweet, full of sunshine, sarcasm and sass. Both of them are strong Christians and I loved the emphasis on putting Christ first and how central He was to their relationship to each other. A beautiful picture of what Jesus-focused dating and marriage should look like!
Also the solid friendship between Cash and Austen, and the fun and sweet brother-sister relationship between Austen and Annabelle. 😍😍
What I liked: The book was very humorous, and loved that because I LOVE laughing. And I think how the author portrayed Annabelle's relationship with her brother is so cute. It is a very clean romance with only a few brief kisses embracing, and hand holding. There was practically no violence (unless you count Annabelle smacking Cash with a spatula XD), and no language at all. (Also, that cover is GORGEOUS!) But most importantly, I really loved the message of God being in the center of your relationships—it definitely taught me something.
What I didn't like: You could tell it was written by a woman whenever a guy was talking or when there was a part from a guy's POV. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just some of the guys' portrayals wasn't always realistic. The characters acted like children at times, and they flirted a lot—it was cute at the start, but kind of got annoying. Also, some of the dialogue didn't seem realistic, and neither did how fast the whole thing went.
Overall, it's a cute story with a good message! I would recommend it to anyone looking for clean romance.
I received a copy free from the author in return for an honest review.
I loved it. Sweet, clean, funny and more. But best of all were the scriptures and application of them. There were struggles, aren't there always. But their priority is to put God first.
The only problem was it was too short sniff sniff!
This story was a fun and sweet but quick read (it could easily be read in a day or two!). I felt attached to every single one of the characters and felt hooked on each page watching their stories unfold. The message of putting God at the center of a relationship and making sure that no relationship was an idol touched my heart. And the writing style of the whole story was something I really enjoyed! It was beautiful with enough detail that I could picture things but not so much that I wanted things to go faster.
I did take off one star because of the way Annabelle and Cash touched each other before marriage. Since this was a romance book, I expected that, but I did feel the need to mention that. The touching isn't anything outside of "normal" though (holding hands, a friendly kick, dancing, and a kiss later in the relationship). ;)
It was all clean though, and besides that, I loved the way this relationship was done! It was encouraging to read about a couple that truly desired to keep God at the center of their love for each other and grow in Christ together. Overall, this isn't the type of book that I would want to read on a regular basis (just because of the touching and what that can put in my heart), but it was an uplifting and sweet story!
Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review.
It's been almost a week since I finished this and am just now reviewing due to lack of good wifi :( I'd much prefer to review sooner so the story is still fresh. Anyway...
In the beginning I had trouble getting into this and ended up setting it aside for a bit. When I picked it up again, I quickly gained interest and had a hard time setting it down. The causal and down-to-earth feel was enjoyable, and the Christian messages were very good. Keeping God first in ALL things but especially our relationships, is something that I don't see much in books. (At least I can't think of one at the moment :)) There was a bit of humor and good brother-sister dynamics. The happy ending left me smiling. And the surprise Christmas-y setting!! Wasn't excepting it but I loved it. And of course, I've got to mention the sweet cover. So pretty!
As for the characters, I liked Cash and Austen. I really wanted to like Annabella, but it was a struggle. Sometimes it was hard to get an idea of her age. Her dialogue and actions seemed immature at times and more mature at other times. It did improve as the story progressed and she and Cash started dating. Towards the end of the book, I was really able to connect with her when she had an awful day at work. Let me tell ya, I really felt for her.
All in all, I enjoyed this and am glad I read it. Solid 4 stars! I recommend this if you enjoy good clean fun romances with a country feel and Godly message. I also recommend Something Sweet Someone Sweet and Ella Pursued by the same author. Both of these are wholesome Christian romances.
This is a sweet, clean love story. Glad it wasn’t a love at first sight kind of thing. I appreciate the spiritual growth of the characters. I like the small town feel the story. And, of course, the coffee shop.
This story is adorable and sweet and wholesome. I really enjoyed reading it. Characters were likable. It is beautifully done with a good message of keep trusting God and will send you the right person in unexpected ways. Thank you, Hannah, for the ARC copy.
Falling for the Farmer is a short and cute novella. I only liked this because I felt that it was lacking more depth in the plot and characters. I wanted more in what I read and it affected my enjoyment of this short read. It did have a sweetness that I can't deny but I didn't fully connect to the characters in the end.
2.5 stars rounded up to 3, probably a 3 for others First two chapters was amusing and had some actual plot to them and actually got a laugh out of me, and the rest was mostly cheesy scenes with no plot or substance to them with everything completely predictable to the T. There was some good faith content, though, which I appreciated. Would probably be more enjoyable to someone who enjoys romance for the sake of romance, even with no unique twists or plotlines after the first few chapters. The cover hooked me on the farmer part, which was probably the most disappointing part, as it was more of a falling for a guy who happened to be a farmer with enough obligatory mentions of things related to being a farmer without him being a farmer actually having any part or contribution to the plot or story whatsoever.
I was also rather confused what the context was for both families? It only ever mentioned the three main characters except for passing people like a church or the coffee shop, and despite the story taking place frequently in respective homes I never really could figure out what their living situations were or if their other family members were...existent?
But other than the minor plot holes and lack of any unique plot past the first few chapters and the cheesiness, it was sweet and clean and mildly enjoyable. And it was pretty short, so didn't have to sit through too much of the predictable plotless second half of it. And generally the characters were fairly likeable with somewhat realistic flaws.
A short and sweet little story about a girl who's in love with a man who doesn't seem to realize she's a grown woman he might fall for...or does he? Pleasant diversion of a little story, though I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more of these characters than just a short story!
