Lords of Destra #5

Destined for the Alien Lord

Rate this book
Sibyl

I am an environmental researcher, alone and stranded on an alien world after my vessel crashed. I’m running out of food and water until he arrives in the abandoned village I’ve taken refuge in. I keep hidden, stealing the scraps he leaves behind. By day he is a nightmare of muscle and steel. By night, he sets fire to my dreams. What will he do to me, when he finds me?

Damiron

I am a Destran warrior. A thing of war and destruction. My ax has cut down more enemies than I can count. Nothing matters more to me than protecting my people and my Sola—my living ship and symbiont—from the enemies that hunt us. Until I meet her. Only then do I know what it means to want. What will she think of me, when I end this charade and claim her?

But as we move closer to each other, those responsible for attacking my Sola emerge from the shadows. When the true faces of those enemies are unveiled, they are not what anyone expects. Every odd is stacked against us as we race against time to find our allies and undermine the enemy. If we fail, more than just our lives are at stake. The fate of many worlds sits in the balance.

This is book five in the Lords of Destra series but it can be read alone with no cliffhangers and no cheating. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and always a happy ending.

Steamy but not too smutty!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌍
Character development: 😊😘😟🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Sibyl - she is an expert in climate and environmental science on a mission in space with six other women when their spaceship was in trouble, and she was ejected from the starship in an escape pod which landed on a barren desert planet nearby. After getting out of the pod, she finds an abandoned village and hides there. She thinks the other women had died and that it was her fault.

The Hero: Damiron - he is a Destran Lord, known for his courage in battle and his ability to wage war. He is a symbiont with a living ship called a Sola and is responsible for all the people that live aboard the ship. His ship was damaged by the enemy when they landed on this desolate world.

The Story: In the last book from this series, we found out that four of the seven ships had found each other and were looking for the last three ships. Also, that the Brakken, the enemies of the Destra who were after the Sola’s for the Lami the ships made which they used as a drug, were not alone. The Brakken were well funded and being directed by someone else who wants to be in charge of all the Lami. Damiron learned this after they landed, and he hid his Sola underground and was spying on the Brakken and their allies.

One day, Sibyl hears voices in the abandoned village where she has taken refuge. She sees two aliens with color changing skin. She could tell that one was a leader. He was massive and muscular with long hair. Sibyl hides from the strangers, though Damiron knows right away that an alien female was there but hiding.

I like that this one really advanced the ongoing storyline that has been happening throughout the series. We found out a lot more about what the Brakken and their allies are up to and who is ultimately the enemy of the Destra. There was a battle, though there are more to come while they continue to search for the last of the Sola’s. The story was interesting, and I like the fact that these books are steamy, but not too smutty. There are good storylines.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Tor Thom and Elle Sonali. They have done this entire series and are very good. Both do a fantastic job and have perfect voices for these characters. I love Tor Thom for these large and powerful aliens as he has a super deep voice and Elle Sonali has a youthful sounding voice and is good at showing emotion through her voice.

This is Sybil and Damiron's story, and for me, the best one yet. Both were a little older (I'm guessing late 30s/early 40s) and both were leaders of their people. They fit really well. I also loved that Damiron was a Lord of War, and didn't shy away from violence when it was called for. I was honestly getting worried that this series was becoming a little too preachy/feel good, but Damiron helped bring it back from the brink. 4 stars

I really love how each individual story is handled within the larger series arc. Nobody is short-shrifted. This installment is about Sybil, the mission leader, and Damiron, lord of the gray sola.

Although she is alone for a fair amount of the beginning, it was interesting and revealed Sybil’s character. Their meet cute was lovely.

As with the others, the fated thing is quick. But that’s par for the alien course. Their getting to know you was much better and the internal dialogues for each were satisfying.

The only problem with this series is that I discovered it before it was published so now I have to wait until September, another six or so weeks plus a million years.

The Lords of Destra. Just… wow.

This author hit the target dead center. The first book took some time getting acquainted with the setting, but once it was established, the rest was history. Unlike other alien love stories, this doesn’t take place on Earth, the Earthlings weren’t kidnapped for some financial interest, nor was there some human bride scheme. Nope. This was a simple fiction taking place in the distant future where space travel is common.

A group of human females traveled through the galaxy on a space mission to map out another planet. During transit, their spacecraft hits something, and the passengers are forced to flee in the escape pods. The pods land on the nearest planet, where there’s a group of aliens who also got stranded on the same planet from a crash. And here’s where the plot got confusing, at first.

So these Aliens come from a planet where they all live in a spacecraft, big enough to house thousands of Destrans. Here’s the kicker though: these “spacecrafts” are actually ALIVE and are sentient beings. When their planet became overpopulated, the Sola (name for the sentient ship) had 7 babies. Those baby ships (aka Solas) chose Destran Warriors (deemed captains of sorts) to “connect to” and gave them the title of “Lord.” These Lords had the memories of their past lives erased, to where all that remained was the relationship between Lord and Sola. Hundreds of Destrans chose to leave their overpopulated planet with these 7 Solas and their Lords to find a new planet to settle on and grow. These Solas provide for its inhabitants, including food and healthcare, but it must set down roots to grow first. The substance the Solas produces is heavily sought after, so of course, the Destrans have enemies. Those said enemies attacked the traveling Solas and they crashed landed on the same planet as the 7 human women.

Are you still following me so far? Because that’s a big narrative to wrap one’s head around.

7 Lords. 7 human women. All stranded on a planet together. One by one, the Lords save the human women before saving their Solas and hunt for their brother Lords and sister Solas. Only when they are together again can they leave the dangerous planet.

My biggest pet peeve when an author refers to “coitus” is when they substitute it with the generic “sex.” For example: “He lifted me up to where his head pressed against my sex, then plunged into me with one swift thrust.” There are SO MANY WORDS a writer can use aside from “sex,” so I view the usage as incredibly lazy. Aside from that aggravation, these books are very well written. Full of adventure and love, this has quickly become one of my favorite series. I can’t wait for the next book to be released. Heavily recommended if you are into alien love stories.

Good

Stranded on an alien planet, Sybil is struggling to survive when she encounters Damiron, a Destran and symbiont of a living ship.
When they make contact, she learns that the ship is hiding from enemies trying to destroy them, and that she might just hold the key to understanding what is driving it all.

Fast paced and action packed, you’ll find this an engaging read and fascinating addition to the series. Secrets are revealed, connections are made, and of course romance happens. An enjoyable read for sci-fi romance fans.

This is book 5 of the Lords of Destra. They just keep getting better and I don't know how that's possible. Damiron is the Lord of War. He is a Warrior through and through then he meets his mate Sibyl. Sibyl is a Environmental Specialist who was chief picking out her team of women. Both are older..which I really loved! Destined is packed with action but it also has enough tender moments to make my heart happy. The sexy times are hot! The characters are wonderful and the world building is outstanding. I can't wait for Book 6! I absolutely love Ella Blake. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Destined for the Alien Lord is book 5 in the Lords of Destra series. This book is about Sybil and Lord Dameron. Sybil is an environmental researcher. I really liked this one. I enjoyed how they met and formed a relationship. I am looking forward to reading the final book to see how the series ends. The narrators are the same two who have narrated the entire series. The narration has always been good, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the female narrator’s voice for Dameron. Overall, I give this book 4.75 stars.

One of the best in this series. The liked the leads a lot and the way their romance unfolded. I felt like I really knew them before they even started to get to know each other and that made it really easy to care about their romance.

The action and plot of this book was great as well, exciting to how it all unfolds. The ending was nice, seeing all the lords and ladies together finally. Also made me excited for the next book!

The characters are interesting and it is easy to get involved.with them. I enjoy the fact that the female characters are strong and are respected by the alien mates they find. The stories focus on a challenge and that by working together it can be solved. I also appreciate a happy ending.

LOVE THIS SERIES!

I am really enjoying this series and can’t wait to complete it. I like that the women are strong and capable of doing what they need to do. Ella does a good job of making the couples for each book different from one another. She doesn’t pussyfoot around gets to the point. It may mean a shorter book but I’d rather have a great book to read than not.

Destined for the Alien Lord

This series just keeps getting better. Sibyl n her fated mate, Damiron fought off other Alien bad guys but also human bad guys plus managed to send human survivors back to Earth with evidence of wrong doing.
Just goes to show you can't trust big corporations.

“Lord of War”

Great addition to the Lords of Destra series. There are battles, betrayals, action, heat, fated mates and surprises. Greed is unfortunately a powerful motivator! Can’t wait for the next!

I didn't love Damrion and Sibyl at first, but they both grew on me. I did like the progression of the overall storyarc in this book. We're finally seeing where things are heading and why they all ended up on this planet.
