Waiting for Hope: Malachi Study

Rate this book
What do you do when you are stuck in the in-between? How do you remain faithful as you wait for God’s help and provision in a desperate situation? Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament―the final book before a 400 year period of silence. In Malachi, we encounter God’s people as they painstakingly wait for the Messiah. Even though the wait was long and hard, Malachi teaches us they can wait with hope because the One who was coming―Jesus―was their hope. This is a 3 week study.

This is a 3 week Bible study by The Daily Grace Co. on the book of Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament. Malachi means "my messenger" and it's the final message to Israel before Jesus comes 400 years later. The book of Malachi calls for the people of Israel to repent and return to the Lord while eagerly awaiting the coming messenger. The book also presents six disputes between God and His people. The people have not offered their best to God and have repeatedly chosen their own way. God calls for the people to return to Him and promises that the world will one day be sanctified and those who have believed in Him will rejoice. Malachi is a book about having hope in the waiting. I enjoyed this study but not a lot stood out to me in terms of me learning something new. My favorite part, that I probably got the most out of, was day 5 of the final week. There were several questions to answer and reflect on covering each chapter in the book. While there were daily and weekly questions, I found the week 3 day 5 questions to be more thorough. Overall, a good study but not one that stands out for me.

Another great study from The Daily Grace Co. This is a 3-week study that takes you through the entire book of Malachi. I enjoyed the slow pace of going through the book as well as the cross referencing to other passages of scripture. A huge focus of this study is the story of redemption that runs throughout scripture and how we can see Jesus in the book of Malachi.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it. Couldn't put it down. I will read it again. I have a copy in my library. I save this rating for my absolute favorite books.
⭐⭐⭐⭐: Enjoyed it. Great information, interesting topic.
⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Glad I read it, but won't read again.
⭐⭐: Finished it, just ok.
⭐: I didn't like it, don't recommend it. Probably didn't finish it

I really enjoyed this study on Malachi! I appreciated that each day (for the most part) was scripture directly from Malachi and only when necessary did it pull in other supporting scripture. I think the study could’ve easily been a two week study cause some days were slightly repetitive, but still helpful to understand Malachi and the overall Biblical placement of this book.

Worked through this with my Bible study group. It was typical of a Daily Grace study—beautifully written with helpful insights and good emphasis on the thread of the Gospel throughout Malachi, but at times lacked depth of interpretation.

This was biblically sound. It was a nice little study. Although I wasn't a fan of the repetitive questions, and some were too broad.

This study is about the last book of the Old Testament before the 400 years of silence from God. I enjoyed learning about its significance and prophecy about Christ.
