A centuries old curse, a talking polar bear, and a random stranger in her bed tracking down her missing classmates is not what Freddie Jones expected.

Dayleview picks up right where she left off in “Tale of Ashes.”
Freddie is back and still on the hunt, but this time finds her own self ensnared in a curse and held hostage. Can she break the curse and free herself, so that she can find her missing classmates?
Beautifully written young adult novel, with wondrously imaginative fantastical creatures.
Dayleview checks every box when it comes to imagination.

Looking forward to book 3!

Book two of the Tales of Fairy series was more bizarre than ever. A centuries old curse, a talking polar bear, and a random stranger in her bed—tracking down her missing classmates is not quite what Freddie Jones expected. When Aiden is given a second chance at revenge, he knows he can't risk losing it by courting Freddie, no matter how much he longs to. But his attempt at goodbye is shattered when he finds her gone, and a violent scene left behind.

Meanwhile, Freddie, fails yet again to get a lead on her missing classmates, leaving her doubting her potential as a journalist. However, a polar bear breaks into her home in suburban Pennsylvania and steals her away to a frozen castle, and finally she gets her first solid lead. The only problem is now, she's trapped and must first find a way to save herself before rescuing her classmates. With powerful curses keeping them apart, Aiden and Freddie must decide what, and who, they are willing to sacrifice to achieve his revenge and cover her story.

The romance part got weirder in the sequel. Freddie and Aiden are so weird with each other to the point of it being painful to watch. With the addition of Freddie's ex into the mix, it got weirder.

The plot was very random in the sequel. It felt like the author just put them all together without planning. The freshman disappearance issue was still open. Then there is a polar bear, a curse that is almost unbreakable, new characters thrown in (who get removed immediately without reason).

I was pretty much confused the entire time. I kinda expected more after the intriguing Book One. But, we got to learn more of Aiden's past and his situation currently. His secrets are finally revealed which added to the charm.

The world building and different magical creatures like vampires, fae, elf and werewolf which will attract fantasy lovers to read this.

The story is told from two different POV, Freddie and Aiden. The readers got to see different side of the storyline and gain insight on the characters, especially Aiden who is considered as a morally grey character.

I was told this book can be read as a standalone, but I would highly suggest to read the first book to be able to enjoy the plot and connect more with the characters.

It took me a long time to get hooked into the story because I was confused in the first few chapters of this book. It felt like I was thrown in the middle of a plot. Felt like it was missing something, mainly about the world building and some events that might happen in the last book that I didn't know about.

Overall, this is quite a good read once you understand how the world works and get to know the characters.
It ended with new problems and things that readers will look forward to in the next book.

I received an advanced review copy for free from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a great follow-up to the first book! I've really enjoyed this series so far and I can't wait to read even more.

This book picks up right where the first one ended. Freddie is still investigating along with her great friends. Aiden is stuck in the Winter Court after his failure. This book spends a bit more time with Aiden and I really enjoyed seeing more of the Faerie Realm and getting to learn more about him. He's such a sweet character and this book really had me feeling for him.

The storyline does get a bit confusing at times, but I think that was intentional. The characters in the story are very confused, so if you are willing to be confused with them for a bit, the author does eventually give an explanation.

Overall, I really like the characters and the world. I'm excited to read more. If you are a fan of YA fantasy with a sweet romance, you should definitely check these books out!

A Tale of Frost was a book that I liked, but didn’t absolutely love. The plot wasn’t really to my taste, however tastes are subjective and I saw nothing wrong with the plot or how it developed. I enjoyed the characters immensely, and it was lovely to see so many different fictional and fantastical creatures. I’d say overall that this book wasn’t completely “for me” but I’d recommend it to readers who enjoy the works of Holly Black or Cassandra Clare.

** I was provided with an advance copy for review purposes.

A Tale of Frost is a fantastical visit to a world of faes, humans, vampires and magic. Aiden's need to see Wyn (Freddie) is palpable. Tensions build as Freddie learns of an escaped fae who's after her, is absconded by a changeling polar bear, and tries to reunite with Aiden.

The story is carried forward by emotional chapter endings, plot twists and beautiful imagery, like: "The pattering of tiny pearls brushing against one another like rain drew closer as Mab entered the room."

Interspersed between the action are gems of humor such as:
“Oh, but dear, his soul is so deliciously tormented.”

The ending will leave you wanting the next book!

This books was good, I’ve been going through a time personally and this was the fantasy escape that was needed for me to breathe. I will say you definitely need to read before this book! The world building is kinda different and something you need to get used to. Overall the romance plot was kinda rocky for me because an EX has been added to the mix.

Fantastical story - it picks right up from where Book One of this series leaves off. While the author does well to bring the reader to speed on what happened previously, it would be helpful to read book One (Tale of Ashes) first in order to be able to understand the plotlines and all. The writing is still a little repetitive for my tastes, but the story still pulls you right in.

I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I loved the continuation of the storyline, and I can't wait for Book 3.

My only problem was I had two chapter 30s and yet the page numbers continued on as normal. This is literally the 3rd book this year that I have bought that has been misprinted and I feel publishing companies really need to work on their quality control issues. On a positive, the author reached out and thanked me for letting her know of the issue.

A Tale of Frost is the second book following the events of A Tale of Ashes. In the second book, we again follow Freddie as she is continuing her search for her missing classmates. The search is interrupted when she gets pulled into a curse. Little does she know that this helps her get closer to what she is searching for.

Aidan throws himself into his responsibilities in the Winter Court's war. After finding out Freddie has gone missing he tries to find her while continuing the war.

The second book in the series brings you back into the worlds of Fairy and the human realm. This book is full of curses, political tensions, mysteries, and war. The world building and characters that were started in the first book, expand even more in this second book. The book is able to be read as a standalone, but you definitely benefit from reading the events of the first book.

I was given an advanved reader copy of this book to review.
