Mallory Kotite knows her father didn’t commit subside. He was to wrapped up in himself to do that.

“I want to be involved in the investigation.” The way she’d said it so matter-of-factly had him wondering if she hadn’t planned this conversation from the very beginning.

Payton Nichols is a good detective but he can’t seem to keep a partner.

When more people connected to her father start dying in the same manner they start connecting the dots.

She’d seen his commitment for justice, his goodness in providing answers to families like hers. She’d seen his compassion in offering to let her stay in his home and in making her breakfast before they started the day.
This series is outstanding and just different enough to be called unique. Super intense and suspenseful page turner.

This is a fairly new author for me and I’m so glad I gave these books a try.I can’t wait for the next book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Another book in the Hunting Ground series and it's as thrilling as the privious books. Mallory and Peyton know each other since her father took His own life and Peyton investigated the circumstances of his passing. Though he closed the file, Mallory didn't - and did her own digging... You can't put the book down as you just need to know, who's behind those killings - and I never saw it coming - who, actually, is responsible. An absolutely musst read - and the epilogue does promise another couple stories. Great read.

An excellent read - very well written, with a solid plot, unexpected twists and credible to the smallest detail.
Everyone has hangs-up from previous experiences in life, but Mallory's experience made me feel like a spoiled brat, complaining about petty things. The fact that she made her own path and emerged so strong made me glad for the different perspective.

I love this author, she keeps the readers on the edge of the seat - can't wait for her next book!

So unlikely and unbelievable. and detective Payton was highly unprofessional. While I am curious about the overarching mysteries in the series, I doubt I'll read more.

Fits Well in the Series

I really enjoy this series and will continue with it. Each book adds another element to the overall series as the characters unwind the mystery in their particular case. Also a good addition to this was the audio which is available through Audible Plus. It is virtual voice so there are some adjustments to be made when listening.

Hunting Grounds #4
Nichole Severn
Bodies are stacking up, literally falling from the sky.
Detective Payton Nichols seems to be exclusively working serial killers cases around Puget Sound.
“He worked the scene like the professional he was. Commanding. Focused. He moved fluidly from one end of the perimeter tape to the other as though he’d done this a hundred times before, his expression never revealing anything more than neutrality.”
Dr Mallory Kotite was forced to live in the shadow of her father.
“The sky stretched above her - poignantly blue and peaceful despite the violence circling close.”
Tense, complex and enthralling story that kept my heart racing until the end. This is Book 4 in the series so has familiar well written characters and an overarching plot. However, it could be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. I received an arc of this book.

I couldn't wait for this standalone book to be released after having read, and thoroughly enjoyed, the previous books in the series, Nichole Severn did not disappoint.
When Mallory Kotite heard about a woman plunging to her death she increased her stalking of Detective Payton Nichols, the same detective who had broken the news of her fathers death , the same detective who who Mallory had tried to convince that her fathers death wasn't suicide.
Mallory had turned her back on her abusive, controlling father and his great wealth, she wanted nothing from him but she knew that he wasn't the type of person to take his own life.
Mallory had done her homework and she finally convinced Payton that there could be a connection in these deaths.
Against his better judgement Payton teamed up with Mallory, he would use her therapist skills, skills that he didn't really believe in, but Mallory was persuasive. The body count escalated and the perpetrator left no clues, he or she had skills and knew what they were doing, but where had they acquired these skills ?
It soon became clear that the killings were in some way inexplicably linked to previous gruesome serial killings that Payton had investigated and that Mallory's life was in danger.
Mallory and Payton were attracted to one another and the feelings grew but both of them had secrets that they hadn't shared. This story is like a roller coaster that you don't want to stop, it has twists and turns, is action packed with nail biting suspense, I can't wait for the next story.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.

This book was captivating, i admit i needed a moment to put the characters back in my mind as we are starting to get severals in this series but it's addictive.
Payton is a good detective, one of the best and while doing his "daily" job he is also on the special team investigating the serial murders in secret....that's quite a lot to do but he is determined and while investigating he refuse to give up a case... However he also has flaws, he was hurt younger and it led to trust issues which has impacted his work with his difficulties to keep a partner.

Mallory has suffered greatly and mostly because of her father..however she can't accept that is death could be a suicide. Convinced its a murder, Mallory is sending message after message to the detective she think could look outside the evidences....when a second death happens she starts investigating herself and Payton can't ignore her anymore especially when she is in danger.

Their partnership grow as they slowly open to each other, trust is tentative but danger is even more present and they will need full trust to survive.

It was fabulous, we really could understand the characters behaviour, the investigation is really well written keepng us on edge i absolutely loved this book! I do recommend to read the seriesin order but you easily get into the story even without knowing the series ( but it's so good you should not miss it) i can't wait for next one!

This may be the fourth book in the Hunting Grounds series but it's at the top of my summertime favorites! Each book stands alone however there is an inter-connected plot that keeps me going back for more and more. Detective Payton Nichols is one focused man. He is searching for a serial killer and yet he has many other crimes to look into is his Seattle territory. Mallory Kotite has been after the detective to look into her father's death. It has been ruled a suicide but she knew her father and the man she knew would never take his own life. Mallory is one of my favorite leading female characters. She is tough, focused, knows her own worth and will not be placated. Payton is definitely a challenge. He's burnt out, closed off, overworked and has no life other than his cases. Now these two both have loads and loads of baggage but through it all there is a killer that needs to be stopped and Mallory is in the killer's sights! Great story, lots of action, angst, twists and turns and a bit of behind closed doors action. View From Above was told from dual POV and I recommend it completely. I can't wait to see what comes next in the Hunting Grounds!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "VIEW FROM ABOVE" I was totally hooked on this amazing story from start to finish so much suspense, intrigue, suspicions, serial killer, murder, secrets, attraction, twists that make this a very addicting read.
Mallory Kotite is a trauma therapist her father dies of supposed suicide but when a woman plunges to her death she doesn't believe her death was suicide thus woman was somehow connected she wants the truth.
Detective Payton Nichols can't seem to keep a partner mistakes in his last case when Mallory come up him for help about her father's suicide & the connection to the womans death she wants him to take another look he's relying on her instincts, then she becomes a target for a serial killer.
I definitely recommend to get this seriously addicting riviting story so well written so well worth the read the attraction between Mallory & Payton grows can they catch the serial killer before he strikes again you must get this book to see what happens it won't disappoint.

In the last book Payton was part of the special task force trying to find out where these women serial killers are learning their skills. Payton looked into a man that fell off his own building, but was determined it was suicide. Mallory was the man’s daughter and she kept bugging Payton that his death was not suicide. Her father was such an awful man that it was hard to understand why she wanted to find out if his death was murder. Payton is called to another ‘suicide’ that jumped off a tall building. Payton and Mallory look into this death and clues show it wasn’t a suicide. This is not the last person to die this way so the two have to scramble to find out who is behind these deaths. This story gets so suspenseful that I thought I was there and wanted to help! Mallory and Payton have ups and downs in there relationship as they both have baggage from their childhood. This book is so exciting that I strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

“View From Above”, I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review and I must say I was completely drawn in to this thrilling and unique story! People are committing suicide…or are they? Mallory believes her father did not commit suicide and now there are two more bodies. So she must convince Detective Payton that what she’s saying is the truth when the evidence points otherwise. I love thrillers with major suspense that leave you wondering who done-it! First you think it’s this person and then you think it’s the next…. and then you’re wrong! I really like this author, she is writing great books with great stories without muddying it up with 80 pages of useless sex scenes. Don’t get me wrong, there is a love story, the attraction is immediate as they work together to catch a killer, but it builds slowly, realistically, as with real life…with time and trust. Great unique story has you turning the page quickly to find out who the killer is, I Highly recommend this book!

View From Above is a phenomenal romantic suspense by Nichole Severn. Ms. Severn has given readers a well-written book with a cast of characters that is second to none. Detective Payton Nichols arrives at another jumper suicide and finds Mallory during his investigation. Mallory has put her business on hold, she knows her father wouldn't jump, and she's going to find out the truth. Payton and Mallory's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Nichole Severn. View From Above is part of the Hunting Grounds Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a book you better let yourself have plenty of time before you start because I am guaranteeing that once you start it is a case of another chapter another page oh look I am almost at the end who needs sleep. With plenty of twists and turns a couple with a connection that is totally believable and a mystery to solve You are dragged along at a break neck speed

Detective Payton Nichols was the detective on the death of her father a death that was ruled suicide but she knew that he father would never take his own life so she kept investigating Now friends of her fathers are dying and she finally convinces Payton that there is more to it As they investigate Payton realises it is related to a serial killer he and a team have been working on now Mallory is in the firing line and he will do whatever he needs to in an effort to save her.

Payton and Mallory meet when Payton is investigating the death of Mallory’s father. Sound like you can predict what’s going to happen? Wrong! There are quite a few good twists and turns here that I didn’t predict! We follow Payton, the detective, and Mallory, the therapist, as they work together to solve a series of murders, fighting their chemistry all the way!

Payton and Mallory both have a good amount of baggage but are dealing with it in opposite ways. Mallory becomes determined to overcome her past struggles, where Payton closes himself off for fear of being hurt.

I really enjoyed the plot here - it was fast moving and easy to follow. I like Nichole’s writing style a lot - this was my first book by her.

I recommend this story if you enjoy a good suspenseful story with a romance on the side! I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the fourth book in the Hunting Ground series
As with all the previous books in this series, you won't want to put it down
I loved both Payton and Mallory and how smart they were
Mallory and Peyton, both broken because of their pasts, find each other.
Mallory's father committed suicide and Peyton investigated and closed the case. Mallory knows her father was too into himself to commit suicide and convinces Peyton to reopen the case
Great story, lots of action, angst, twists and turns and filled with emotional upheavals for both characters and some behind closed doors action.
Nichole is one of my favorite authors
I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.
In the meantime I‘ve started to reread the entire series again, can't help myself I highly recommend this book!
I received a complimentary ARC

Mallory Kotite is a therapist and she wants answers to what happened to her father what she uncovers is much more. When she gets caught by Detective Payton Nichols at the scene of a crime she explains herself, and also wants to help with his investigation. It’s gets interesting that’s for sure. A twist at the end you won’t see coming.

Spoilers ahead!
There were a few things a had a problem understanding. First-How is it that Mallory gets drugged in her neck and doesn’t feel? Very hard to believe that.
Second how is that Payton doesn’t have a gun when he comes to Mallorys aid? But then there’s a back up weapon he has? I mean the killer already has weapon so it’s not like she stole it from him?

Such a great story!!
Mallory, the daughter of a supposed suicide victim pushes detective Payton to look into it further.
Drama galore, intense dangerous and really wonderful. I liked the slow burn of the relationship that wasn't without its issues. It was almost a one step forward two back type of scenario that was challenging to read about. But I loved their chemistry and connection. Danger thrust upon them several times, seemingly not giving them a chance to catch their breath, but it was more the author had non stop action.
Well written, mysterious, dramatic and romantic, couldn't ask for more in a wonderful book such as this. Great work!
This was an ARC and this is my honest review.

View from above is another awesome read in the Hunting Ground series!
A lot of twists and turns and a great plot!
What I always love about books written by Nichole Severn is how she manages to immediately let you get drawn into the story. I couldn’t put it down and of course as usual I started reading it in the evening and it was late at night when I finished it 😅 When Mallory think’s her father’s death wasn’t a suïcide she asks detective Peyton to investigate. While investigating together Mallory becomes the target of a serial killer! I don’t do spoilers so just go and read this awesome romantic suspense!
I look forward to reading the next book by the author!
I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion.

I love the HUNTING GROUND Series by Nichole Severn. It starts out by really sucking you into the story right from the beginning. When the detective comes on scene to access the situation.
Detective Payton Nichols has to realize he doesn't always see everything that is there, and Mallory needs to learn trust. others. There are some scenes that make you laugh, others that make you cry.
Plot twists and lots of action and intrigue abound in this book.
Nichole Severn delivers a great story as always.

Definitely can be read as a standalone.
However this Hunting Grounds Series keeps me always wanting the next book in the series. Really hard waiting for the next book to be available.
The next book in this series STUDY IN COLOR is due out in August 23rd and I really want it now!

Non-stop action in this thrilling romantic suspense novel lead you on a merry chase. This book grabs you from the first few words, and just doesn’t let go until the very end. There are are many masterful twist and turns that I didn’t see coming, and I’m usually on top of these. You’ve simply got to read this book. The characters are so well written, and the action jumps off the page. Ms Severn is a master at slowly, but effectively revealing the pieces and parts that make up this complex tale. I truly couldn’t put it down and read long into the night, when I should have been sleeping but kept thinking “one more chapter”. It’s really great. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

Intense, edge of your seat, pulse-pounding suspense.... seriously I could hardly put this book down once the action started, even though my brain was shutting down from exhaustion. I'm loving this series and Payton and Mallory's story is just as great as the previous stories. Diving into what makes Detective Payton Nichols the way he is as Mallory and her relentlessness to get him to help her investigation pull him into the light made for an amazing story with lots of action and suspense. These two are survivors who fought their way through past and present horrors to find a little solace along their path in each other and receive an HEA.

The fourth book in this series has Payton and Mallory chasing another killer, she believes this one murdered her father. Mallory’s not exactly distraught over her father’s death, the man was wicked to her as a child, but it’s the closure she needs. The two don’t start out as best friends, but it’s the sarcasm and quick connection that brings them together as partners - and her constant harassment for him to help her. Although this is a series with each book’s characters hunting a killer, there is a common thread to the murderers and I think Trooper Wells will find the answers in her book. I’ve received an early copy and given my review freely.

4 1/2 STARS!

High intensity intrigue from start to finish! The fourth book in the Hunting Ground series grabbed my attention from the first page and took me through a rollercoaster ride of danger, love and healing. My favorite of the series!

Mallory is a loyal and articulate character who is determined to find answers to right a wrong even though it takes her through an emotional journey.

Payton is intense and solitary and watching him actually let someone in for a change is heartwarming.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys lots of intrigue, deep danger and heartfelt emotional journeys.

Mallory's father committed suicide and Peyton investigated and closed the case. Mallory knows her father was too into himself to commit suicide and convinces Peyton to reopen the case. Mallory is not going to stop in her pursuit to prove her fathers death wasn't a suicide and unfortunately now there has been another death and finally Detective Payton Nichols caves to looking into it after clearing her as a suspect. You are drawn in from the get go and with the twists and turns as well as suspects that occur and then there is the brewing attraction between Mallory and Payton. This is an absolute page turner that had me chewing my nails and lip needing to know who they killer is and why they were doing what they were and that Mallory and Payton stay alive and together!!!

A very intense, romantic thriller. Seattle PD Police Detective Payton Nichols, and Mallory Kotite, Trauma Therapist, who has recently inherited her father’s law practice, whether she wanted to or not. State Patrol Trooper Rowan Wells plays an active role in the investigation too. There are a lot of details, intense twists and turns in this mystery, as well as the building relationship between a reluctant Payton and Mallory. Lots of fun to read. I highly recommend and look forward to the next book in the series
