Royally Claimed #3

My Merciless Alpha

Rate this book
Life in New York blows. I get cheated on and skip town because I’m determined to find myself again on one epic road trip. But I last all of a damn week before I find myself hurtling through time and space and landing ass up on the floor of a spaceship.

It gets worse from there when I’m put up for auction, and the man that buys me?

I don’t think he’s a man at all…

Men don’t call you their mate and growl? Do they?

My Merciless Alpha is the third novel in the Royally Claimed Series, but it can be read as a stand alone, bby!

I was annoyed by the constant references to the ex boyfriend and the repetitiveness of the book in general. I think the storyline has potential, but need some good editing.

Do I feel like there should have been more plot, yes. But does this book make me so happy just the way it is, yes.

I agree that it might seem like it does not have much of a plot but the whole idea of the entire series is for the members of the royal council to find their omegas and mate with them. After that, the next main idea is for them to probably solve the mystery of the disappearance of omegas.

I haven’t read all the books in the series so I am not sure. I will say though that reading the series in order will help you to understand more. It’s not required but you would definitely understand more.

Anyway, I loved the book. I loved this one more than brutal alpha. It’s that go to book/series if your looking for a quick read with male leads who have possessive tendencies but still respect their women.

Try it!!!🌝

I got this book for free and while it had some interesting ideas to it, it just was all around very underdeveloped. The main character felt more like a teenager with her thought process and constant questioning. The romantic connection was insta-love with no qualms about leaving earth behind. Which, I don't have anything against insta-love, but when the main character is so flat personality-wise, it just makes you lose interest. Viggo at least had a little bit of a personality, but it was almost like the author couldn't pinpoint it down on how to make it shine through. I read reviews before picking this book up that it was the best in the series. I have not read this series, but I can say that this book just needed to be a little more thought out than it was. I dnf at 51% and overall would recommend passing on this book to another.

I think with each book the series gets better. It's a little strange to me that each man so far is the prince of their respective planet and we never get to see the other women again. I wish there was at least one scene where the women get to talk about their experience and their men. All this being said, it wasn't a bad book. Ivy so far has been my favorite FMC, but maybe because she had more control over herself than the previous women who only experienced their heat. Ivy had more time to grow her bond with her guy and we saw more of her life with her new community. I was also really excited that we got to experience an Alpha's rut and a primal scene and not just the typical heat of an Omega.

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wasn’t as enthusiastic about this one as I was the previous two in this series. It was just missing something, too much repetitive thoughts from Ivy, got abit boring.

The couple: Viggo and Ivy

Romance trope: alien/omegaverse
Series: Royally Claimed
Length: 210 pages

Plot: Ivy is on a journey of self-discovery, hiking through the mountains, when she falls and is taken by a group of aliens. As she is about to be auctioned off, she is rescued by an alien king who says that she is an omega and his mate. It will take a little more explanation to make her understand, but the benefits are more than enough to make up for the confusion.

Commentary: This was a pretty standard omegaverse, a little lighter on the fluids than normal, but still enjoyable. It did make a nice break from the spate of rh omegaverse stories. I don't mind those, and think Lola & the Millionaires: Part One is one of the best omegaverses out there, but sometimes (most of the time) I just want a really good, intimate m/f omegaverse where the conflict isn't how to get the last member of the harem, the surly one, to let go of his reservations and accept her as mate. And this wasn't a brutal story either, which a lot of omegaverse can be, so that was a nice break as well.

Previous book in the series: My Brutal Alpha
Next book in the series: My Ruthless Alpha

It was okay.

The 4* rating is a bit of a gift, but I did finish it. There were an odd number of small continuity errors. Like, they're holding hands, then his hand is on her hip. He's holding her and then she's pressed against a wall and he's got her wrists pinned, and then he's holding her again and she's still got a chalice of wine? Where was that wine? At one point she goes to examine something and then, a paragraph later, he stops holding her and puts her down. She says their dance is the first time she's felt like dancing in years, but we were told she danced at a bar the day before her abduction. Ect. It wasn't once or twice. It was often. You could almost see where the author did a second draft and added additional material without assuring continuity. Beyond that, it was loosely written. Little plot--and not even that, that much spice--but a ton of mental rambling, frequently about her ex. Often, there was silliness, and not necessarily the fun kind. She's like, "I don't think I should be a queen!" And I was like, "Then we the same, girl, because no facet of your personality makes me think you're equipped to make decisions for other people." Hehe. For real tho. I finished it. I wouldn't call it successful, but it wasn't aggressively unpleasant.

The book in itself is cute.

There isn’t much action, drama wise but honestly compared to the rest of books I kept reading before, it was a nice break from the standard.

It is very sweet and loving, fast paced as well.

The female main character once or twice did bother me attitude wise but considering the fact that it was a human female, alone, scared, in outer space makes me be more lenient towards her.

Alien smutiness

100% Smut with aliens. Yep I literally just read this book for the smut and it made me very happy! Now I need to go back and read the rest of the series. Its easy going, not much angst, romance based plot and sometimes that's just what you need.

I was on the edge of not caring for this series anymore, but having the male lead grab the female lead's face like he was about to hurt her over having a past lover is enough to make me toss this book far away. Nothing makes me leave a book faster than a romantic partner being abusive. Yikes...

A life worth living.

I really enjoyed the descriptive parts of the story. It rarely happens and the story was so much richer for the magic that the descriptions evoked. The magic all led to the HEA.

2.8 stars rounded up.

Just ok, will not be reading the rest of the series.

It’s very repetitive. Same beginning storyline down to the cheating boyfriend at beginning. Constantly mentioning of the ex. Same characteristics as FMC from previous book.

Cute

If you like a fast paced omegaverseish story, then this one is for you. Ivy and Viggo are cute. There is more spice in this one than plot, but at the end of the day you can’t help but smile.

I’ve gotten 3 books in & so far every single book is the SAME plot. The author could of at least stuck with one couple or intertwined multiple couples SOMETHING. They are from the same world, the human omegas could of met anything at this point. I can’t even finish the remaining books I already know what’s going to happen. 🙄
